For reference, I bought Light in Skin Veil. I am an NW15 in MAC, a BR12 in Chanel Vitalumiere (previously BR10) and Mont Blanc in Nars Sheer Glow. I am very fair with a pink undertone and I have dry, sensitive skin. I bought the pump pack, not the pen. This is my new HG foundation, hands down. Pros: * I have dry skin and this does not make my skin flaky, emphasise any dryness, or settle into pores or fine lines. As much as I love Sheer Glow and Vitalumiere Aqua, they can still settle or look dry in parts depending on how my skin is at the time. I have no worry about this happening with Skin Veil. * The Light shade doesn't make me look too pale and seems to blend into my skin very well and cover any major redness. * Feels lovely on the skin - I apply this with a foundation brush (I tried with fingers and it just doesn't work as well). It's now 3pm and I applied Skin Veil at 8am. The foundation is still there and still feels good on my skin, no tightness. * Perfect level of dewiness for me - If I feel like I'm a bit too shiny, I put a tiny bit of translucent powder on (MAC Prep and Prime). If I want to bump up the coverage when I'm going out, I use a tiny bit of MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural. * Packaging is simple and functional. Cons * Cost. TBH, I bought mine from Strawberrynet so I got it at a discounted rate. However, it was still expensive in comparison to other foundations. * Availability - Strawberry doesn't seem to stock it any more. Unfortunately, I'm hooked. I wish I had discovered this when it was first released!

Liquid -Illamasqua - Skin Base foundation

For reference, I am an NW15 (but can also be NC15 depending on the foundation), Chanel VLA BR10. I have dry patches of skin around nose and forehead and redness on my cheeks (oh yes, I'm just blessed with awesome skin! Not.) I'm writing this review because I bought the wrong shade (SB2) and I relied on the comparison charts on the Illamasqua site to make my decision. SB2 is far too pale for me. I look ghostly. I am verrry pale as it is but somehow SB2 makes my teeth look yellow and my neck have a yellow tinge! I will use this shade in Winter or when I'm going to a Goth club and will buy a darker shade (possibly, SB5 and mix down with SB2 if required) for every day wear because I like the coverage and finish. Despite my shade issues, I am going to do my pros and cons: Pros: * excellent coverage (even though this is the wrong tone, it covers really well. I'd say it was medium to full coverage for me) * only need a tiny amount to cover full face * squeezy bottle packaging is durable and highly portable * feels nice on the skin - not too sticky Cons: * website shade comparison charts are just plain wrong * I actually went to and Illamasqua counter in Robina, QLD, Australia on a Saturday around 11am and there were NO staff to help me with shade selection. I came back an hour later and there were still no staff. Not one. I couldn't believe it. This is why I purchased the foundation online and relied on the comparison charts. * this is not a slap on and go type foundation. As with all Illamasqua foundations you will need to play around with the application styles to get it working for you. * it settles into fine lines on the face just like every other Illamasqua foundation I've ever used. * basically, it's too much trouble. **update** I received the correct shade yesterday which I correctly guessed as SB5 (with no help from the website comparison chart) and it has made all the difference. Very happy with the coverage and finish so far. **update again ** I dislike this foundation. It's just too much trouble. There are better foundations that are easier to use.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 5 of 5

For some unknown reason Chanel does not release the lighter shades of their foundations in Australia (we're not all bronzed amazons here) so I was ecstatic to discover that the Vitalumiere Aqua was available here in lighter shades (I am normally an NW15 in MAC and bought a Beige Rose in Vitalumiere Aqua). I have dry skin and am currently using this in the Australian Summer. The results of my experience with this foundation so far: Pros: * doesn't feel cakey, * no flakiness on my dry skin (unheard of), * skin feels soft and silky to the touch, * coverage is excellent for Summer (I need concealer but that's to be expected), * looks very natural with a very subtle sheen on my skin * packaging is functional and portable * colour range available is great (for pale people like me) * can apply with foundation brush of fingers if necessary Cons: * can't see how much is left in the bottle Overall, this is a great light weight foundation that looks and feels natural and works well on dry skin. ***Edit*** After 3 months of using this foundation, I can say I truly love it. At the moment, I'm cycling between this and MAC Face and Body, depending on how much coverage I want. If I'm going out and I want extra coverage sometimes I mix my Illamasqua Rich Liquid with my Vitalumiere Aqua and it works really well. I've got to say that I'm really pleased with this. My boyfriend keeps telling me how great my skin is looking. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works on my insanely dry Winter skin.

Liquid -Illamasqua - Light Foundation
rated 3 of 5
changelyng 8/26/2010 9:23:00 PM

I bought this product after finding Illamasqua's Rich Liquid Foundation a tad too heavy for daily wear. I will admit that I struggled with it when I first tried it because I found that it moved around a lot using a foundation brush and settled in to dry spots badly (even though it is quite moisturising). However, after experimenting with different application methods I have grown to love it! I now use a sponge sprayed with a bit of MAC Fix + and it goes on beautifully. The coverage is medium but doesn't feel heavy or sticky on me. The staying power is great - I touch my face a lot and I find it is still there after a day at work I am quite pale and get red irritated cheeks and I find the 120 shade is excellent. I'm normally an NW15 but sometimes this is too dark for me so the 120 is perfect! Only minor issue is the packaging. While the bottle looks awesome, it is sometimes a bit difficult to squeeze. *update* I wrote this when I was a foundation noob, I would not buy this foundation again now that I have tried Nars Sheer Glow.

Moisturizers -MAC - Strobe Cream
rated 5 of 5
changelyng 4/14/2010 1:14:00 AM

Fantastic product. I have been using Strobe Cream over the top of my moisturiser and underneath my daily foundation (MAC Select SPF15) for a week and I am truly happy with the results. My dry skin usually ends up dull and flaky using foundation in general and this product alleviates this issue entirely. The sheen is subtle but effective. Also, no MACne for me so far! I think this will become one of my HG products. It certainly is this week!
