Lips -Korres - plum lip butter

Totally surprised myself when I just accidentally tried this in store when it was on the front display of Mecca Maxima. Once I tried it on my lips, I did not want to part with it. I left that first time, but I came back again to the city and ended up purchasing one in this shade Plum. It is a deep burgundy, wine, shiraz shade that just seems to give me that extra oomph in my 'blah' days. Glides on so smoothly and does prevent chapping very well. It also seems to diffuse my peeling lips quite alright as well. I use a cotton tip to get the product and apply it on my lips, just because I've started to really hate dipping my finger into the pot. However I can't see it being in a different container without losing its current amazing texture and consistency, which I am totally in love with. I think that's just the thing with lip butters. They are so buttery smooth, and is not sticky or icky or feel thick. For those who have tried The Body Shop lip balm and thinks it's great. Try this, this totally wins by a mile. Might now consider getting the other shades, like Pomegranate and Wild Rose... or we'll see... I'm still pretty much in love with the scent and shade of this Plum lip butter <3 Thanks Korres!

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Butter

Applies white if not careful and if too thickly, but I like using a cotton tip to apply this and really roll the tip to every crook and cranny and crevices of my lips. So far has been helping my lips stay moisturised and bye bye chapping/peeling/bleeding lips! They sit comfortably with a slip, a grip, but not overly sticky or disgusting. They almost like a treatment feel on the lips, I like using this at night time or at home, and under lipsticks. Have this in unscented and vanilla/macadamia. The vanilla/macadamia is surprisingly a new favourite now despite it having a scent, but the scent does not linger much or up-your-nose too much. Which is great. Keeps the lips ready to be kissed! Thumbs up! For those worry about it being pure/natural, this is not marketed as such. So if you are concerned about it, this does contain Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Castor Oil. Titanium dioxide (Cl 77891) as the white colorant in the Unscented, and Iron oxide (Cl 77492) as the yellow colorant in the Vanilla/Macadamia. Both contain Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis) and Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter), for those interested. Giving it the thumbs up just because for its price and its value range, can't really complain much. It softens my lips and I am enjoying the emollient consistency of both flavours.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Enzyme Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
cendana 9/12/2011 2:30:00 AM

No fuss cleanser, this one is. It smells so fresh and so good it makes you feel good using it. It does not strip your skin. It cleanses well and can even be used to remove your base makeup (such as foundation). Massage onto your skin and use damp warm face cloth to cleanse off. You can see the foundation just melts off your face. This is soothing and first product from Mario Badescu and I'm impressed. You might get put off by its non foamingness but you don't need the foam to feel that it has cleansed your face thoroughly. In Australia, you can get them from Kit Cosmetics at AUD$35.95 for a good 236ml bottle

Best concealer ever used - amazing coverage and blends well onto the skin and stays put. It doesn't cake up or crease. Can even be used under the eye and everywhere around your face to cover blemishes. The little mirror inside is handy when you carry this around. It warms up at the touch of your finger.

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
rated 3 of 5

Wow, I'm impressed. This is officially my first ever MAC foundation and I'm happy with it. First thing I notice is that it totally counteracts and balances out my skin tone and the redness I get when I flush easily during the day. Now I don't look like I'm always blushing hahaha even after a run! I thought I would be an NC25 but was matched to NC30 instead and I think its yellowness totally cancels out what redness I have. So it's good ^^ I like to use this as a nice clean base all over the face and bring it down to my neck... then any spots just conceal. But lately I've been pairing it with Lancome Teint Miracle just around the centre of my face and set it with Maybelline Dream Matte Powder and I'm left with flawless face that lasts all day! Impressive! EDIT: Colour changed/oxidised halfway through the bottle. Not happy with it. Asked MAC and none of the girls could give me an answer. Back to MAC it goes, not buying it again and not recommending anymore if it changes colour on its own like that and for some reason it feels stickier.

Treatments (Eye) -MAC - Fast Response Eye Cream
rated 1 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 10:25:00 AM

It doesn't do anything, waste of my money :( Packaging is nice though, a small opening tube and a secure nice cap with a squeezy tube. But it just does not do anything in terms of reducing puffiness or dark undereye. Not that moisturising either.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal

I have this in waterproof, Glam Black. I have to say that the formula is way too wet for my liking, and it smudges and smears before it dries, leaving me with black eyes, then it's hard to remove without messing up my makeup. So I won't be repurchasing. Yes it does work in giving you volume, only when you remember to not blink your eyes for awhile to let the mascara dry.

Lipstick -NYX - Jumbo Lip Pencil Iced Coffee 711
rated 5 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 7:44:00 AM

This is the ultimate lipstick texture. It's creamy, buttery, glides effortlessly, pigmented, and moisturizing. If this comes in a lipstick form that would be awesome. I just don't like the idea of having to sharpen it. Sometimes the lid sort of accidentally hit the tip of the pencil and it chips it, so that's also something I don't like. But omg I love this lip pencil. It's no brainer. I can just put it on and go. I would love to get more colours when I can find them. With this, you can line your lips and use it as lipstick, all 3 in 1 product. Great buy for such inexpensive price!

Eye Makeup Remover -Garnier - Clean Sensitive 2-in-1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 7:07:00 AM

Even though it says it does not contain perfume, it has quite a strong rose/lily scent that sometimes can get overpowering. This is the one with 2 layers, oil and water, and you need to shake it well before use. For the price it's great. It does remove makeup even waterproof. You do need some effort but still bearable, with waterproof mascara or eyeliners. If only it has no such strong rose scent, but it works for a good inexpensive price for 200ml bottle. It's good. I'd repurchase when I can't get hold of my preferred Korean or Japanese eye makeup removers.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 4 of 5

It's not expensive for a drugstore. In Australia this retails for AUD36.95, but I got this when it was on sale. I have this in the shade 008 Golden Beige. First, their color numbering system is way off. 006 is darker than 008, and 005 looks like I have a tan, while 008 is the closest to my skin tone. For reference I'm around NC25-30, Hourglass No. 2, Graftobian HD Creme in Vixen. Despite people say about this being too shiny, I find it nice natural finish, glowing, since I prefer that for daily look rather than overly matte finish. It has a pump and its bottle design is rather cute and high-end-ish. The bottle is made out of clear glass and the lid is black plastic. Texture is very watery, it would literally dribble down your hand if you tip your hand over. It blends nicely and doesn't feel cakey. Its coverage would be medium buildable. I'm yet to try Colorstay so I'll compare the two one day and see which one wins. But in the end, I think it also depends on what skin type you have. Hope this helps.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30+ Hydrating
rated 4 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 6:22:00 AM

I have this in the Combination/Oily version one. It glides on effortlessly, and does not leave a white cast on my face. It does however leave a slight dewy finish even though it's meant for oily skin. However its texture is towards the runnier side which is good because it is not overly thick, great as face sunscreen. It truly feels like it's doing its job protecting my face against the harsh Australian sun rays, for I have not experienced any stinging or redness or burns as long as I use this. The scent is not too overpowering either, it's quite subtle. If I can't get anymore of the SPF40+ or 50+ from overseas, I'd stick to this. On sale the price could go down to about AUD12 but normally they retail for around AUD15-17 I can't remember... but it's reasonable.

Crème -Graftobian - High-Definition Glamour Color Creme Foundation
rated 5 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 6:14:00 AM

Packaging is practical and with a clear lid you can see the colour inside. I have this in the Warm #1 palette (the one with 5 shades) that includes Graceful Swan, Ingenue, Vixen, Temptress, and Enchantress. I got this by recommendation of a youtube guru "gossmakeupartist" and if you have not checked him out, you should. He's one of the best honest gurus out there. This creme foundation is indeed very creamy, glides on like butter, no fragrance whatsoever that could make you feel sick, and no spf, no fuss, and it doubles up as concealer because it is highly pigmented. It's awesome!! The great thing about this palette is that I can mix and match the shades whenever I need it, so you can highlight your face using this palette too. You can also mix a darker shade during summer. Very versatile. I'd definitely repurchase. For reference, I'm around Revlon Photoready 008, Hourglass Veil Foundation in No. 2, MAC probably around NC25-30, and I can mix Ingenue, Vixen and Temptress, but normally Vixen and Temptress themselves work fine.

Lipstick -MAC - Snob lipstick
rated 5 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 6:08:00 AM

Packaging-wise it's nothing special, but it opens to one of the gorgeous fun pink shade that I can wear anytime. It is a tad drying but I guess I could live with that, because of the color. I originally was going to pick up Saint Germain and accidentally bought this instead, but I'm glad I did. It gives me a fresh face in the rainy days. However, this shade might not work with everybody, so I found out from some people. For reference, I'm Asian, yellow toned, Black hair, and around NC25-30, wear Revlon Photoready in 008 Golden Beige, and Hourglass Veil in No. 2.

Blush -MAC - Cantaloupe

I can't talk much about its packaging because I bought this in its pan. Its price is reasonable and affordable for a high end. Its colour oh my gosh it's like just the right blend. It is dusty rose mix with beige mix with peach but not too peach or not orange, it gives me the right flush on the cheeks to looking fresh and contoured. I believe it's a Pro product. For reference I'm around NC25-30. Combination skin. Asian, yellow tone. Black hair.

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
rated 5 of 5
cendana 8/22/2010 5:57:00 AM

I bought this through an Australian online makeup store crushcosmetics.com.au since I live in Australia and no ELF in our Target stores. But if you live in US and you can find this at USD3.00 or even cheaper, and you've been eyeing the NARS Orgasm/Laguna Duo, go get this. You've got nothing to lose. I know high end is high end and the original is still the original, but for such inexpensive price, this really is impressive. Both the blush and the bronzer give nice colour pay off and stay quite well on the cheeks. Its packaging is not as dirty looking as the NARS. Each pan is quite a large size. It's great for travelling since you can carry both blush and bronzer in one. If I run out I'd consider repurchasing. Definitely a keeper.
