Moisturizers -BeneFit Cosmetics - b right triple performing facial emulsion

I got this in a set for christmas along with the cleanser and toner. I found the cleanser too thin and so use it as a secondary cleanser e.g. to remove ponds cold cream to remove makeup..which seems to defeat the purpose. The toner I stopped using after about a week - I dont get on well with toners and it just smelt too perfumed..almost like shampoo..it made me suspicious...Now the moisturizer I actually really like. The design of the range is cute. Interestingly the moisturizer is the only glass bottle while the others are plastic...I'm not sure why? I just worry about dropping it as I'm really clumsy. I love the pump on top of this, very hygienic and gives a good amount of product. It's a nice thin moisturizer and I like the fact you can use it at night and under your makeup. However it takes a while to sink in and if you touch your face it can feel a little sticky. A little goes a long way which is good. I did like this product but seeing as it's benefit I'm guessing it's quite expensive for what it is, I'm only half-way through the bottle though and I've been using it a couple of times a week since christmas so it's probably worth it. Though I WOULD repurchase I'm not sure I WILL when the time comes...I'm a bit funny about spending money on moisturizers etc if they're not made by an actual skincare brand..are they that much better than drugstore? But I'm a bit cynical about benefit products in general so that may just be me!
After consistently spending money I didn't have on expensive foundations, I decided to head back to boots and pick up a drug-store foundation. Having seen the adverts to this I was interested by the dewy finish - exactly what I'm after, but with a bit more coverage as my skin isn't perfect. The colour looked ok, the consistency ok, everything ok - not fantastic but ok for everyday..until a few days later when my chin and nose, having been a bit itchy, went dry and the skin flaked off and my skin went bumpy. After giving my skin a week of rest I was determined to believe it wasn't the foundation (I was really broke ok and couldn't afford to buy another!) but the same thing happened again, obviously something in this foundation is upsetting my skin. It's single-handedly put me off drugstore foundations and I'm back to high-end I'm afraid. I've recently bought chanel's vitalumiere aqua which is a similar effect but better matched colour and will hopefully be better quality. If you don't have sensitive skin (I didn't think I had but...) then this product might be great for you, it's got good coverage for a dewy-type foundation and is buildable and doesn't sit on your skin. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, however I can never throw away makeup and i keep using it now and again, I never learn.
I really like Jo Malone's simple packaging, and heard a lot about their fragrances so decided to give it a try. I was informed that this was the most popular and so tried this, but on my friend's advice went for Tom Ford Black Orchid instead (which I hate!) So soon after I bought a bottle of this from ebay as I wasn't really sure about it. However I actually really like it, though none of my friends seem to agree with me?! It's a strange smell I can't really put my finger on it but to me it smells really homely and I feel quite comforted. I loved it at first and was always smelling my wrists, but no one seemed to share my enthusiasm so I went off it a bit (so easily influenced!) For me it's a definite day perfume and as I said I feel comforted when I wear it. I like it but I won't be repurchasing.
Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb

I used to adore this when I was younger, then I wore it a lot and really went off it...got it for christmas and realised a few of my friends wore it and I quite liked it on them so I decided to try it again. It's so-so, a pretty smell, I actually prefer it after a couple of hours when it dries down to a powdery-ish smell like the one I smelt on my friends (the majority of whom seem to wear this!) and actually really like. But unlike how I used to feel, I don't think there's anything special about this perfume. It is nice and I'll continue to use the bottle, however for the price it's nothing special and I won't be repurchasing. (Plus I'm a bit bored of smelling the same as all my friends!) I do get a lot of compliments while I'm wearing this though.
HORRIBLE on me. So excited to try it and thought it smelt interesting in the store..got the smallest bottle as it's quite expensive...so glad I did! This smells almost petrol-y on me! So so strong, masculine - could definitely work on a man. I want to like it so bad seeing as everyone else does but it also smells so old! At 20 I'd like to think I'm old enough to wear adult smells having moved on from anna sui etc but I feel ridiculous wearing this...I think it could smell really sexy on the right person (e.g. a man..?) but you'd have to have the persona/attitude to go with it (an interesting feature for a perfume!) I personally feel like it doesn't suit me at all but then I guess I'm more of a lancome hypnose/hugo boss deep red kinda gal...
Foundations -Bourjois - Brush Foundation (Pinceau)
ceciafb 1/24/2009 11:47:00 AM
I love this foundation, for the moment it is my HG, the brush is actually quite good, it goes on smoothly if you apply it in short strokes and take your time, but then I usually apply my foundation with a similar brush so I'm used to it as my friend said she had a problem and it went on really streaky. Some would argue that the brush makes it unhygenic but it is perfectly easy to wash! only one click for each area of the face is sufficient, and i tend to click then apply to one cheek, click then apply to the next etc. When I bought mine they didnt have the second lightest shade, so i chose the lightest instead and surprisingly it actually looks fine, though I think I would choose the shade down next time. Overall it's a great foundation in my opinion and I actually preferred it to the YSL version, which I find too thick (this is quite a thin foundation) and I think is probably meant for older skin. It's also about a third of the price so good value for money in my opinion, though I'm not actually sure how much is in the tube. I dont think I would reccomend this to people with spotty skin as if I put it on when I have a spot it doesnt do much to hide it, and if you require a thick foundation stay well away. If not, go for it!
Powder -Maybelline - Mineral Power Powder Foundation

I thought this stuff was good..until it broke me out, and im not talking normal spots from clogged pores, im talking really painful spots - almost like a rash all over my cheeks, clearly i'm allergic to something in this as it happened the last time i tried a mineral foundation, i must have quite sensitive skin to zinc or something, i dont know.. anyway it has nice coverage - as soon as you apply it your skin looks flawless, i used to use it for touch ups throughout the day rather than actually as a foundation on its own. it doesnt have very long coverage though and you will probably need to reapply every few hours if you have bad skin (as i started to after a couple of weeks of using this before attributing it to the foundation) - another plus is as its loose powder you can use it to set your foundation when you first put it on which is what i did if it breaks other people out like it did with me this product is totally sucky!
I actually prefer this as an eyeshadow to a blush, i havent quite got the hang of that yet so i wont comment! so this is more to people who have bought this and hate it as a blush - its so nice as a natural eyeshadow! just apply the pink under the brow and it highlights it, then brown all over the lid and slightly on the browbone, and apply a bit of pink in the edges of your eyelids near your nose, then blend and voila! overall the product is nice, but not great - but far better than dandelion which DOES NOT SHOW UP!
Love it! bought it a couple of years ago randomly and then regretted it thinking i wouldnt use it and i used to hate it - i was so wrong! i use this daily just a bit on my cheekbones and under my eyebrows and it really defines them, and if i want to look nice on a night out il mix just a little in with my foundation to give it that 'dewy' look. As i said at first i thought it was a waste of money but now i think its benefits best product and i love it, its lasted me ages too! only thing is i dropped the bottle in my friends sink so had to scoop out the liquid and stick it in another bottle, not a huge problemv - more my clumsiness, but not so great that its glass! Ohh, also i dont use that nail varnish applicator because it is really bad, i use the one that i got with the mini set which is sort of spongy, and its much better, or just my fingers
Foundations -Max Factor - Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation

I used this for about a year until i realised it made me look ghostly white, particularly in pictures - not attractive.. the compact is crap, mine broke every time, managing to dig into the foundation and mess it up in my bag (quite an amazing feat i thought..) i'd love to try it in a darker colour but the range really isnt that good with quite pink tones, and it would be quite a costly mistake - yes its not top of the range but the price adds up.
My friend swears by this product but i found the coverage too light, and tbh its not that 'dewy'. it also looked a little orange on..love the smell though! and i think it would be good for someone with really clear skin (of which i can only dream!!)
Feels absolutely disgusting on your face, the girl at the counter put it on me when i was trying out blusher and i couldnt wait to get home and take it off again. so, so greasy, i'd hate to think what it would do to your face after a while of using it. oh, and it comes in really odd colours!!! i always find this with benefit - very strange range of orangey-brown toned foundations..
Cleansers -Clinique - Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam
ceciafb 11/8/2008 11:31:00 PM
Its not fantastic, its probably not worth the money, but strangely enough...i like it. I dont have acne, i have typical teenage skin - a couple of breakouts of about 2-3 reasonably baaad spots and then little ones occasionally and a few round my hairline. I also react badly to some makeup which means i can end up with those little bumps on your skin - nasty. anyway! I bought this a while ago and gave up after a week because it didnt give me supermodel skin (ahhh the naive-ness of a 16 year old..) but went back to it recently. although some people say its a little drying, i use sudocrem instead of moisturizer on my face and havent actually experienced any drying (i have combination skin) i find my skin feels really really clean after using this, but i dont get any of the tightness others report. Though it doesnt get rid of all my spots, i feel like its doing something, and it improves the overall texture of skin dramatically, my skin just feels so soft and smooth when i use it which i love. I'm between wanting to buy it and not when I run out. I think I'm going to say not because, although it does improve skin texture, it doesnt do what it says on the tin..or in fact bottle in this case, which is clear up spots - i imagine it would be useless on actual acne, and the price really is not cheap is it? But as i said, overall its a nice product if you have money to burn on something which isnt amazing but is quite nice. The toner is a different story though, just smell that stuff and its like nail polish remover. ugh!
Hmm i think i use this in medium brown.. My hair had some old highlights in which had gone a funny colour so i decided to dye my hair back to its normal colour, and picked this out at random (well, with the help of a friend) anyway, i love this stuff! It's so easy to use, however mixing the dye is a little fussy - managed to accidently spill a little, i am honestly one of the most unco-ordinated people EVER - there was dye all over the bathroom, all over my shoulders, face and arms, and i just sort of shoved it in my palm and put it through my hair, yet there are no patches, no streaks - fantastic, and consider that my hair before literally was in blocks of colour - natural brown to above my ears, then a sort of chesnutty-ginger from there on, you can't tell at all. It also makes your hair super shiny, when my hair is lighter it can look a bit ffrizzy, but i think its because the dye coats the hair shaft, making it thicker so its shinier blah blah im probably wrong! I especially love the idea of the conditioner that comes with it that you can supposedly use for 6 weeks, just use it once a week. i actually found there was so much more in the tube than this and i use it pretty much every other time i wash my hair (i wash my hair every other day, so you can get an idea) - the conditioner itself is great and i actually found that you can buy it on its own in small tubes some places, it makes your hair really shiny! Now for the bad, and this is a bit of a problem to be honest. i am always fearful of my hair going too dark when dyeing it. I was always accused of following one of my ex-friends fashion etc, and i didnt want it to look like i'd dyed my hair to match hers, even though ours is the same colour naturally, so i left the dye on for 5 minutes less than it says on the pack (it says 20 minutes i think..) but my hair still came out darker than i expected, i have medium/maybe slightly dark brown hair naturally so didnt expect it to come out this dark, beware of that! i can't imagine what it would look like if you left it 20 minutes, i'm guessing black which is NOT medium brown! Anyway, next time i dye my hair i will definatly be using this brand but either a lighter colour or i will leave it on for less time.

This stuff is great, as well as the obvious - for lips - which it is great on but doesnt always work as well as usual - you can use it to smooth down eyebrows, flyaway hair etc. Its really good for all of these but i mainly use it on lips The packaging is VERY ANNOYING, my tin dented and it takes me about 2 minutes to open now every time i want to use it! but a minor problem i guess.
