Palettes -Urban Decay - Naked Basics
ccope4 12/27/2012 12:54:00 AM
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette {#3 of the Naked Series}. Overall, reviewers seem to feel it's colors enhance fairer skin. On darker skin-tones the lighter colors can look chalky. I love this palette. I am a C4, and these mattes are perfect to make eyes look vibrant, healthy and natural. I have so many shimmer and glimmer eyeshadows, I am truly pleased to have this toned down palette. From the Urban Decay box: "Begin any look with these six essential shadows. This palette of must-own shades (with four exclusives) features both mattes and satins for lids, liner and crease." $27 at Ulta and Sephora. And hooray - no animal testing! I recommend an eyeshadow primer beforehand. Next, lighter shades layered until desired look is achieved. A nice eye primer at Target is E.L.F. for $3. Another at Ulta for about $10 is the Stila Prime Pot. See more pics, video and swatches on different skintones at my site - truecolorworld. Texture is true Urban Decay: light, silky, luxurious to the touch. 6 Shades - Venus, Foxy, Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint, and Crave. The first 3 are very light, nude tones; the remaining 3 descend from a beigy taupe to a dark, midnight brown. Yes, the compact is small, but does have a full mirror. About the size of an iPhone. Some say too small, I say just right. I would >>recommend this palette<< to all my makeup loving friends. If you have never purchased NAKED before and can only choose one, go with NAKED1 if you are warm-toned or have a richer skin tone, and go with NAKED2 if you are cool-toned and/or have very fair skin. Even if you are fair skinned with a warm skintone, NAKED2 has shades to cover. Go with NAKED3(Matte) if you are fairer and warm or cool-toned and don't want too much shimmer, or to compliment either of the first two palettes.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Single in Brulee

This is a fabulous base color on my NC20 skin, I use it after an eyeshadow primer (UD) and it creates an even, not shimmery, healthy looking base. It actually lasts all day and I love how cute and compact it is, and the price - awesome!!!!!

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Rubenesque
ccope4 8/26/2011 8:22:00 PM
I don't know why the MAC gal chose "rubenesque" for me, it was so orange and frosty, I didn't like it. The Bare Study is PERFECT..I have NC-20 skin, dark hair, green eyes, and its a beautiful shimmery champagne beige that is perfect for an everyday look or to glam up bolder colors. I will definitely recommend this one.

Highlighters -Smashbox - Soft Lights - Smashing Tint

Didn't show up at all on my NC20 skin at least as a highlighter : / I was disappointed. Okay as a blush but nothing special. Would be better for darker-toned gals.

Foundations -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup
ccope4 1/3/2011 12:07:00 PM
Well I actually got this about 6 months ago. I thought it was okay, but it wasn't my "go to" foundation. I took the puff off the top part one day to clean it and ended up losing it, so I set it aside and forgot about it. The other night I was going through my powders figured I'd better use it up. With the puff off of the top, the powder comes out easily and I actually just shake a little into the purple top, take a small fluffy powder brush, swirl it a bit, and powdered my right cheek. In comparison in the mirror I could not believe it. My right side with the UD looked flawless. The left side (with no makeup, just moisturizer, no primer) was a little ruddy with some prior red acne spots. The right side, all red spots were covered but it did look like MY skin still, just better!! I couldn't believe it. I'm an NC-20 and I have this in "fair" or "illusion" and it melts perfectly into my skin with untraceable color or streaking. I have since used it with Too Faced Primed & Poreless and it lasts on me all day, oily t-zone and all. So if you're going to try this, and don't get a great coverage with the "puff" try using it as loose powder and then buff onto your face. I love it this way.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Pearberry

Yes so I am pretty much in love with this fragrance and just wanted to add another positive review. I initially went in looking for the Winter Candy Apple on sale, and they were out : / The SA advised this has a "clean, soft scent" so I bought it. It really is heavenly! I sprayed a little underneath my hair and I kept smelling whists of it throughout the day. If you like the Candy Apple/Winter Apple smell you will probably like this one also. : )

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Silk Eyeshadow in Provocateur

Absolutely beautiful color. On the back of the packaging it says for a lighter look use an eyeshadow brush, for more color use your finger to "pat" in. I like to pat it as it really does make the pigment show up more on my eyes. I have NC20 skin and this is a beautiful shimmery pinky beige and I love it, it is exceptionally easy to pair with other shadows.

Treatments -Philosophy - Resurface Kit - The Microdelivery In-Home Vitamin C Peptide Peel
ccope4 12/13/2010 5:36:00 PM
Really love all of the Philosophy line products I have tried, and this one is near the top of my list of favorites. My skin is so smooth and clear afterwards.. I use this in conjunction with the Philosophy cleanser and moisturizer, and my Clarisonic (not at the same time as the peel as that would be TOO much) and my skin has never looked better. Just wanted to add my positive review for this great product!!

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
ccope4 11/30/2010 6:21:00 PM
I really love this so far. Been using it for about a month and no breakouts. It actually makes lasts all day... of course with a primer underneath (I use Too Faced Primed & Perfect) and touch of powder on top (I use MAC Skinfinish). I got agent 2 and it is a perfect match for me (NC-15ish). I apply it with a foundation brush and stipple it a bit with 187 for extra airbrush look. I love it, I love that it's not tested on animals and has relatively good ingredients.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Masterpiece Massive Shine Hairspray
ccope4 10/27/2010 1:43:00 PM
This is a pretty amazing hairspray, one I go back to time and again. It holds my curl without getting sticky or dry, and the shine and smell are both amazing. I love it.

Pressed Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - Get Even
ccope4 10/23/2010 12:10:00 PM
While I like the coverage of this...I am pretty sure it is breaking me out. I have fair skin and got #2 but it does tend to oxidize by the end on my oily skin and I have to touch up a bunch. Also, I use this mainly on my chin and nose area where I have some redness and this powder makes my skin break out like crazy! This is the only thing that I changed so I know it is the culprit. I've used it on and off for about 3 months and I just can't continue to do so. May work for others but oily skin I don't think so :/

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Borba Clarifying Pomegranate Fiber-Knit Facial Cleanser
ccope4 9/20/2010 1:26:00 PM
Oh how I wish I would check MUA before believing any claims about products.... I fell victim to the fantastically packaged borba products and even equally impressive website and celebrity claims... However, After using the cleanser, night repair and "illuminating" something-or-other, I have had the WORST skin!!! This cleanser still has parabens and chemicals in it!! I know my new Borba products were the culprits because they were the only thing in my regime that I changed. And this wasn't some kind of "purging" experience... I recall a few nights rubbing the Complexion Repair specifically on my lower jaw and neck...and big surprise, the next day I would have pimples bursting out on my neck...never happened to me BEFORE!!! I am so saddened at the $ I wasted and I warn anyone with at least my skin type (oily tzone, regular type skin in hot desert weather) to stay away and go for something like "Kiss my Face" which I have found make incredible products - all natural, all organic and they don't test on animals! Borba was awful for me, and the free sample little packets of "vitamins" tasted awful.
