Treatments -Juice Beauty - Green Apple Age Defy Serum
catlady36 6/4/2013 1:57:00 PM
The Green Apple Age Defy Serum has a liquidy texture, and kind of funky smell due to the organic/natural ingredients. I don't mind the smell, but I could see someone disliking it strongly. Per the Juice Beauty website: "Resist gravity with this quickly absorbing serum that firms, brightens and smoothes fine lines with an antioxidant cocktail of age-defying peptides, DMAE, alpha lipoic acid, fat-soluble and CoQ10." It soaks into my skin well, and I like how my skin feels after using it. I have noticed a subtle improvement in my skin tone (I have very fair skin and too much sun has given me some dark spots that drive me crazy.) I have a feeling that if I used the whole Age Defy system I would be seeing more dramatic results. I'm getting close to the end of my first bottle and I will repurchase, even though it's terribly expensive.

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation
catlady36 6/4/2013 11:44:00 AM
I was matched to the shade Alabaster and I think it really does match my skin tone very well. This foundation is a medium coverage, which I like because it doesn't look like I'm wearing a mask. It has a silky texture and I love how it feels like you're not wearing any make-up because that's my biggest complaint with many foundations. I have used a brush to apply, but I find I get better blending if I just use my fingers. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone. This stuff does keep my t-zone from looking like an oil slick, but it certainly doesn't keep it matte, but I like the dewy look. It makes my pores less visible. And WOW does it make my skin look so much better in photos! I had done my make up before going out for my husband's birthday and we took a picture right before leaving. Holy cow was I impressed with how my face looked! I use City Block 40spf and Smashbox Photo Finish Primer underneath. I bought the pump that goes on the bottle which makes it much easier to get only the amount of product that you need. I don't understand why they make you buy it separately, but it's worth it.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Ecolips Sport SPF30
catlady36 1/13/2009 6:27:00 PM
I bought this at my local REI with the "Eco-leash", and I love it. I wanted a good balm with SPF for running. This is moisturizing and protects. I think this is taking the place of my Burt's Bee's balms forever.

Skincare - Body -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Original Formula Fragrance Free Transparent Facial Bar
catlady36 1/8/2009 4:43:00 PM
This bar seems to do it's job...cleaning without leaving a residue. My skin is actually clearing up after using this, and I like that it's pretty cheap. But it smells awful! I thought it was supposed to be "fragrance free"? I think after I use up the 3 pack of bars I bought, I will try and find something that doesn't smell so putrid.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
catlady36 12/13/2006 5:43:00 PM
I love this stuff. The tube lasts a long time since you don't need to use much. I don't mind having to rub it in, and I don't really notice my hands being overly sticky afterwards. It really helps to heal my cracked knuckles during the winter, and it does make my skin baby soft. I think next time I'll buy the unscented version, however the smell doesn't really bother me. I use it on my lips when they are super chapped as well.

Blush -Aveda - Petal Essence Face Accents - Peach Lights
catlady36 8/3/2006 2:28:00 PM
I think this is just not the right color for me, I need something more in the pink family. However, aside from the color, I like this blush. It wears well. I think it is sometimes hard to get the right amount of each of the three colors onto my brush, but it never looks freakishly different on either cheek once I've applied it. I know many people don't like that you have to buy a separate compact to hold Aveda blushes and shadows, but I like how enviromentally friendly that is. You can recycle the little pans when you finish them! I think next time I will try this blush in Plum Touch.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
catlady36 8/3/2006 2:22:00 PM
I'm not looking for tons of volumizing, so this works well. It lengthens nicely and my lashes don't get crunchy after it dries. I get clumps for some reason, but I have never used a mascara that hasn't caused clumps. I like the brush, I think it minimizes the clumps and they are easy to fix. I find this to be better than the Clinique and Lancome mascaras I've used in the past. More than likely will repurchase, unless something else catches my eye.

Styling Products -Aveda - Brilliant Spray-On Shine
catlady36 9/13/2005 10:06:00 PM
I have a hard time finding shine products that don't make my fine, mostly straight hair not greasy, and I think I found a good one at last. I spray some of this on my hands and spread over my hair. It leaves a nice shine without weighing it all down, yet keeps my hair from having major flyaways. Spendy, yes, but I think it's worth it. And I only use 1-2 pumps per use so I have a feeling this is going to last me quite awhile.

Loose Powders -Aveda - Inner Light Loose Powder
catlady36 3/27/2005 2:46:00 PM
I like this loose powder, I have it in Translucent. It has some reflective properties but it doesn't make your face look like you threw a pile of glitter on your face. It controls my oily t-zone well and has a pleasant scent. It comes in a screw top lidded plastic container. Will be repurchasing.

Mascara -Lancome - Flextencils
catlady36 3/27/2005 2:41:00 PM
I thought I'd try a new brand of mascara, and I have been sorely disappointed. I have heard that Lancome makes excellent mascara and gave this one a try since it's supposed to help curve your lashes. It clumps and doesn't really perform great enough to justify paying $21.50. Very average mascara overall. I've used worse, but will not be repurchasing.

Misc Beauty Tools -Aveda - Shammy Cloth
catlady36 3/1/2005 1:41:00 PM
I was recommended this by a co-worker, she loves it so I thought I'd give it a try. It's better than an ordinary washcloth for getting masks off or just normal washing because it doesn't rub your face to irritation. And you can use it like a cotton ball to use eye make up remover and stuff too. Wet, it's soft and it dries quickly. I was alarmed the first time it dried completely because it was stiff as a board! But just get it wet and it returns to the nice soft shammy again. And you can machine wash it. Happy I purchased.

Lip Gloss -Aveda - Lip Glaze in Raspberry Tea
catlady36 3/1/2005 1:33:00 PM
I personally love the minty-ness of AVEDA's lip glazes. And this tuff makes my lips nice and soft. It's not too goopy and sticky like Clinique glosses, and this color is perfect on my lips. Not too much color, true, but a nice subtle look with shine. So if you're looking for a bright color, look elsewhere.

Eye Makeup Remover -Aveda - Pure Comfort Eye Makeup Remover
catlady36 1/10/2005 4:55:00 PM
I've always used Clinique's Rinse-Off eye makeup remover, but on a whim decided to try this since it's vomparable in price. ($15 for AVEDA and $14.50 for Clinique for the 4.2 oz. bottle) I must say this is better! It has no detectable scent, removes all my eye makeup easily, and the bottle has a better opening. It has a smaller hole once you screw off the cap so if you're clumsy like me you won't spill the entire bottle down the drain or on the bathroom counter like I have done numerous times with the Clinique bottles. I think this is my new staple. :)

Mascara -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers Conditioning Mascara in Clear
catlady36 12/31/2004 3:34:00 PM
This stuff is great for minimal make-up days, and I use it for keeping my unruly brows in place. I first used this years ago when I was first starting to wear makeup and I come back to it since you can't find anything comparable for this price.

Cleansers -Biore - Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser
catlady36 10/20/2004 11:52:00 PM
So far I'm doing well with this cleanser. I like that it's clear, meaning no pointless dyes. It lathers up really well, and you don't have to use much. The tingle feels good, like it's getting into my pores.
