Powder -It Cosmetics - Celebration Foundation
cassandrabecky 6/7/2013 4:26:00 PM
I am enjoying this foundation. I was weary because I have always used liquid and the thought of just powder seemed like it would not be sufficient for my needs. However, I was pleasantly surprised and have used it every day this week. I do use the brush that it is advertised with, the flat top kabuki one, and I love the brush as well. You really only need a little bit of powder and its the act of buffing it in that gives it the great finish. I find the only place it looks cakey is right between my eyes, but I could be applying too much there. I do use some concealer before the foundation. I have this in the fair shade, and it its bordering on too fair.... and I really am the fairest of the fair, but I lean slightly pink. The fair shade has no pink in it... more true ivory / neutral. I need to touch up about 1 time in the day, which for me is good because my tzone tends to be oily. Overall I do recommend to try this if you want a break from your liquid foundations and I think i will enjoy using it throughout the hotter, summer months. Oh and just to add I did a test where I covered half my face with the foundation before doing the other half and there was a slight, noticeable lifting on the side applied vs the side withouth

Cleansers -Murad - Clarifying Skin Cleanser
cassandrabecky 4/25/2013 9:47:00 PM
First time i used this i thought the menthol felt odd and too harsh right off the bat, i should have stopped then! Used this for three days, on the third i noticed tightness and a weird burning sensation around my nose and lips. When i washed my face at night, i was horrified! Chemical burn is the only way this feels! My skin feels tight, red and burning and covered in tiny bumps! I have NEVER had this sort of reaction! Please be careful before trying! I cant believe people use this with no reaction, seeing as my face is on fire!!! Not happy!

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
cassandrabecky 1/9/2013 12:28:00 PM
I've been become a bit a foundation snob lately, with the idea that the more expensive, the better. And while this still holds true for a few of my favorites, I tried this on a whim as a more cost effective alternative so I do not go through my pricier foundations as fast. I had initially tried the color stay formula, and despised it. I wasn't excited to try another Revlon foundation, but again the display roped me in. It was still quite expensive for a drugstore foundation ($14.99 in Canada Shoppers Drug Mart) I purchased in lightest shade, as I'm typically always the lightest shade. I have to say, I am impressed! It goes on smoothly and covers nicely! Medium coverage I would say. I only needed to use a little concealer under eye and my blemishes were covered to my satisfaction with just the foundation. Used my fingers to apply. Did notice a slight odd smell, but it could have been the foundation mixing with my primer (philosophy the present, which I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) It is comparable to Benefit Oxygen Wow in my humble opinion as I use both weekly. I have not tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin version. I had applied this morning and just a quick check in the mirror as it is now afternoon, my makeup looks like I have just done it so great staying power so far. Only cons are of course the packaging. Flimsy and way too much product pours out and I can never get the cap on straight. All in all, this foundation will be my go to for daily use when I do not wish to use my more expensive high end foundations. Very happy with it!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream
cassandrabecky 8/20/2012 12:36:00 PM
Let me start off by saying I have "jubblies" on the smaller side (36A) and really have no issues in that area except that I notice they didn't seem as perky as they used to be, I am nearing 30. I started giving this cream a shot, but mostly as a preventative measure. I love the scent. I find it slightly luxurious and look forward to apply even if just for the scent. It doesn't overpower and lingers just enough. I apply before bed and in the morning. Now I did notice a difference in my breasts, they are feeling firmer on the sides. But my favorite part of this cream is that I have started using it on my stomach, thighs and butt.... and have noticed a difference, especially on my butt!! The skin feels slightly firmer and more taut... if that makes sense. It's possible it is all in my head as that region is not too bad to begin with, but even my boyfriend noticed! So yes, I recommend giving this a shot on your other "jubbly" areas, especially your butt. I might got through the jar quickly as I really enjoy using it.

This scent could almost pass as unisex. I felt like I was wearing cologne. Very strong as well. Not for me.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
cassandrabecky 3/7/2012 12:00:00 PM
I was skeptical after trying other eye lid primers to even check this out. I have fallen victim to other much raved about products to great disappointment. However, I randomly purchased it on a trip to Sephora, and I am so happy I did. I've used it every day since and does not even compare to some others. It makes a huge difference in the lasting power and brightness as well as smoothness of my eye makeup application. Highly recommended.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia
cassandrabecky 2/29/2012 10:45:00 AM
Oh how I wanted to love the Mia!!! I received this as a gift for Christmas, so luckily did not spend the money on it except for replacement brush heads I purchased. I gave this a good 2 month run to see if it would work for me I was super gung-ho and used it every morning and night as soon as I received it. Broke me out, figured it was that initial purging I read about online, so excused it as such. My skin did not clear up, and these break out were different from my regular hormonal break outs. So I backed off a little and started using it once a day... in the evening. My skin improved a little bit but I found it was still worse off then before I used the Mia. Backed off again to once every couple days.... again my skin approved.... hmmm seems to improve the less I use the brush?? I just recently stopped using all together and my skin is great again :( I get a better and gentler exfoliation using my Dermalogica Daily Microexfolient then I do with the Mia. All in all, I have stopped using it. It did nothing for me but irritate my skin, cause flakiness and break outs where I didn't have them before and cause two months of messing around with my skin care regime. I also tried two different brush heads, and several different cleansers including the clarisonic cleanser, Caudalie Foam, Clinique and Purity Made Simple. I am disappointed because I had such high hopes! I may keep it around and use once in a while, as a special treatment to my skin, but doubt it will make any difference, it will really only be to justify the cost of it. I have finally regained balance to my skin without the use of it. And I almost feel silly for believing the hype. While I believe it is an amazing tool, people do need to keep in mind that it is not for everybody. I have rather sensitive, combination skin. However, my skin gets inflamed very easily , so perhaps this had something to do with it.I will be sticking to what I know works for me from now on!

Blush -Clarins - Powder Blush - Raspberry 80
cassandrabecky 12/12/2011 10:20:00 AM
I have to disagree with the negative reviews. I actually bought this marked down to $12 at Winners (cdn version of Marshalls) and am quite happy with it. It is a natural brush of color on my fair skin. Good staying power, the brush included is decent, however I use my own. Overall, I'm happy with it and would have felt the same had I paid full price. It's a great color for fair skin tones.

Mascara -TheBalm - Two Timer Mascara
cassandrabecky 9/9/2011 3:40:00 PM
I had to write a review for this mascara because I loved it initially, but then forgot about it while testing a whole slew of other mascaras, including benefit they're real and hypnose doll lashes....I saw this in my drawer and remember my initial liking for it so decided to use it again and it reminded me HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS. Honestly, no other mascara clearly lengthens my lashes as much as this. I really only use the lengthening side and I have a lot of lashes to begin with. I've come to the conclusion that this is one of the best out there and I will not stray very far from it again. HG status has been achieved!

Treatments (Eye) -Lancome - Genefique Eye Cream
cassandrabecky 8/26/2011 10:30:00 AM
First off, normally if I were to read the comments here first I most likely would have passed on this eye cream. I received a GWP sample of the cream and decided to give it a shot. I have very minimal fine lines are my eyes, I'm only 27, I do however have quite dark, hereditary dark circles with I've noticed are getting worse with age. That was my main focus while choosing an eye cream as well as prevention of future wrinkles. I LOVE this eye cream. I have only used a few before including 100%pure coffee bean cream (did nothing) and I honestly noticed a difference in the brightness around my eye within a few days. It may be subtle at this point, but I definitely notice a difference and will continue using this product. The darkness around my eye is not as prominent and I am feeling less self-conscious, as well as using less product to conceal them. I use this morning and night. It is lightweight and feels refreshing on my eyes. I have had no reactions to anything and I have very sensitive skin. No burning/stinging eyes, no break outs. I have no issues applying this 5 minutes prior to makeup, it is not greasy whatsoever. I apply it around my entire eye up to my brow bone, focusing most on the outer corner of my eyes and dark circles underneath. One thing I find frustrating however is the price. Here in Canada, the full size is $80!!!!! Meanwhile in US, it retails for $59.... I think this is a major difference in price considering the dollar is close to par.... I am still using my GWP size and can not get myself to shell out the $80 for the fullsize. I am waiting until I run out completely and cave! So far the small GWP sie has lasted me a good few weeks. A little goes a long way. All in all, I am very pleased with this eye and plan on sticking with it.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
cassandrabecky 8/24/2011 3:07:00 PM
I was a sucker for the advertising of this product. I dished out the $30 cdn and while I like it, it is a good mascara, I can honestly get the same results with Maybelline Falsies. Very gimmicky product for mediocre results.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - master drama eyeliner
cassandrabecky 8/24/2011 3:02:00 PM
The packaging for this is horrible. I used it once and then the part to twist up more product got stuck and when i attempted to snap it open to inspect it, I wasted the whole thing and ended up having to toss it. $10 literally in the trash. Not a fan due to the packaging and will definitely not repurchase.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
cassandrabecky 8/24/2011 11:04:00 AM
I am extremely pleased with this foundation. Sure enough the first time I wore it, my boyfriend couldn't stop staring at me and stating how I was "glowing".... honestly! I was so surprised. He had no clue I had just tried out a new foundation. I find this formula to be extremely light and smooth and my skin. It also lasts a full 8 hour work day. I have never found a foundation I actually enjoyed putting on in the morning, and I definitely look forward to the applying this. It was a soft, sweet scent. I use this along with the diorskin nude concealor. Also note that I bought this online without trying it out first. Luckily, I am typically always the lightest shade in most lines, and it worked out for me again here. Ivory matches me perfectly.

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation
cassandrabecky 4/11/2011 10:55:00 AM
I was looking for some natural looking coverage in a foundation, and seeing as I have the typical combination skin, the sales rep suggested this to me. At first, I was worried there wasn't going to be a good color match for me as I am so fair, but the lightest shade (alabaster) was perfect. This foundation goes on very smoothly and covers flawlessly for me. I top it off with Clinique Perfectly Real powder and my skin feels like butter. I agree that the packaging is a tad pointless, but find tipping it upside down and lightly tapping on my sponge, I get the right amount of product no problem. However, since I just started using it, I'm not sure how it will go once I get closer to the bottom of the bottle. I feel like this foundation is priced right, feels clean on my skin and I am very happy with it.

I'm really enjoying this palette. The concealer is pointless however... too dark for me, and overall I don't like the consistency of it. But I'm loving the shadows! The packaging is very cute and sturdy. I keep the outer sleeve on it though for durability.
