Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Sleek Look Shampoo
carsandparties 12/27/2012 3:38:00 PM
I've been using this shampoo/conditioner/frizz cream combo off and on for the past few years. It's dirt cheap, smells amazing, cleanses effectively, and makes my hair feel soft and smooth without weighing it down. I know it has sulfates and other bad stuff in it, but it works great for me, especially if I treat my hair with virgin organic coconut oil prior to shampooing. It lathers up really nicely and smells so good. I've never used the Matrix shampoo it's supposed to be a knockoff of, but this stuff works nicely for my long, normal hair. Definitely recommend if you want smooth, healthy-looking hair without paying an arm and a leg.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Moisturizing Lotion
carsandparties 9/24/2012 6:12:00 AM
I absolutely love this as a moisturizer for my face and body. I've never found a moisturizer that doesn't break my face out until I discovered CeraVe, I was prescribed Retin-A and some benzoyl peroxide cream from my derm and this product makes my skin feel super soft and smooth after applying either product. I haven't experienced any flaking or dryness from my treatments, and my skin has never looked better. I've been using it for about a month, and I still have a ton of it left; it lasts for a long time. I also really like that if you use too much, it will sink in after a little bit. This is a really good moisturizer, and if you have acne-prone skin, it works great.

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Nourish Me Truly
carsandparties 9/20/2012 11:44:00 AM
I purchased this shampoo/conditioner on a whim at Superdrug (£1.59 each...definitely a steal!) and really like it so far. I've only used it once, but it's made my hair feel super soft without weighing it down, and it smells delicious. I also really like the fact that it contains avocado oil, argan oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil and jojoba oil. It seems to cleanse effectively. smells great, and doesn't make my hair frizzy. 5/5

Foundations -Almay - TLC Truly Lasting Color
carsandparties 9/13/2012 9:36:00 AM
This is a fantastic medium coverage foundation. I went on a 16 hour flight 2 weeks ago and when I arrived, it looked just as good as when I first put it on. I'm so pleased with this! It doesn't clog my pores, it looks natural, and it has a nice consistency. It's nice to actually find a foundation that does what it says. Will definitely repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
carsandparties 9/13/2012 7:02:00 AM
This stuff is HG status for me. I initially started using it when I developed a chronic yeast infection that lasted about 7 months and wouldn't respond to any medicine my doctor was giving me (sorry if that's TMI, but this stuff literally saved my sanity). After about 3 days of using it (ingesting 3 tbs a day, applying topically 3 to 4x a day), my yeast infection almost completely cleared up. Now, anytime I get a yeast infection, this is what I instantly go for, and it works wonderfully. I love that it has none of the nasty side effects or tolerance buildup that Monistat or Diflucan or any other prescription med for yeast has. It kills all species of candida (whereas most OTC meds and Diflucan are only effective against one or two different species), and that's not all it's good for. It also makes my skin super soft and smooth, and I like to use a little bit on the ends of my hair when it's wet. For me, coconut oil is a godsend and if you're battling chronic candida overgrowth, definitely give this a shot. EDIT 9/24: I've found that adding a couple of drops of tea tree oil to the coconut oil gives it extra firepower for really persistent infections. This is the most effective way I've found for treating recurrent yeast infections (and I've been prescribed almost everything under the sun for it.). Wish I'd known about this one sooner! EDIT 10/7: Thought I'd also add that this stuff works great for cold sores too. I got a really bad cold sore the other day because of the weather, and I applied some VCO to it last night before I went to bed and it already feels sooo much better. Coconut oil never ceases to amaze me. EDIT 1/19/13: I was in the hospital for a month and coconut oil was one of the few products I brought with me. I was completely immobilized, and used this on my body when I had to be turned. All the nurses commented on how much it improved my skin, and how it even prevented me from getting pressure sores. A few of them even purchased a jar of coconut oil after seeing how much it did for me. I also had a nasty scar on my hand from my injury that I have been applying coconut oil to a few times a day, and it is nearly gone. I never, ever want to be without VCO...I buy a couple jars at a time, and use it for just about everything. Love, love, love!

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Acanya
carsandparties 8/29/2012 9:06:00 PM
I got a prescription for Acanya to use in the morning along with Retin-A to use at night yesterday, and my skin already looks about 80% better after just using them twice. I can't believe how quickly this stuff almost completely cleared me up! I got a coupon for it so it didn't cost anything, but otherwise I think the cost of both of them together would have been over $300. My new skincare regimen consists of Cetaphil, Acanya, then CeraVe Hydrating Lotion in the morning, and then the Retin-A at night in place of the Acanya. This is a great product if you have mild acne and need it cleared up fast.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Sensitive Skin Unscented Beauty Bar
carsandparties 8/29/2012 8:52:00 PM
I've been using this soap for years. It is the only soap I've found that has helped me clear the acne on my back/chest and leave my skin super soft and smooth. I tried it on my face but it didn't work too well for me, but I won't use anything else on the rest of my body (except for maybe Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream on my legs or anywhere else I'm dry.) Sometimes if I'm feeling daring I'll try a new soap out, but it inevitably breaks my back/chest out. This soap keeps that under control. I also use it to wash my hands before I wash my face, and it works great. Love this stuff.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil (100% Pure Australian)
carsandparties 8/25/2012 11:10:00 PM
This stuff is pretty nice. I followed the advice of another lady on here and have been using it in tandem with my Persagel layered with CeraVe lotion and I like it a lot so far. It feels very cooling on the skin and seems to calm down my blemishes. I only started using it last night, but so far it's being kind to my face. I had a bunch of little red bumps on my forehead from over-treating with BP, but since I put it on last night with CeraVe lotion, they seem to have calmed considerably. Great stuff.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
carsandparties 8/23/2012 3:06:00 PM
This stuff is pure magic. I developed a couple of huge cysts maybe 2-3 weeks ago from the face wash I had been using (Philosophy Purity...don't mess with it if you have super sensitive, acne-prone skin) and NOTHING was working to get rid of them. I tried using Neutrogena Rapid Clear Gel, Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Spot Treatment, and a couple other random BP creams I have accumulated in my search for a fast, effective spot treatment..none of them seemed to do much of anything except for sting like the dickens. As I am going on vacation overseas next week, I've kind of been freaking out about my skin. A bit of background: I live in a super hot southern climate (116 degrees/no rain for weeks...it's probably played more than a minor role in demolishing my skin), I have light to moderate acne (some random whiteheads, the odd cystic pimple every now and then, nothing really major), and I also have some light scarring on one side of my face from past acne (nothing -too- bad, but to me, it's awful...I know you're your own worst critic but I'm still kind of insecure about it.). I got this on a whim 2 days ago after reading all the positive reviews here and my massive cysts have already been reduced to almost nothing! I simply can't express how happy I am to have found this...seriously, it's a life saver....best $6 I've ever spent on a facial product. I've been using it on my spots in tandem with my trusty Cetaphil and my skin is finally getting back to normal again (whatever "normal" is for my skin). If you have cysts/pimples/whiteheads and want to get rid of them fast, I highly suggest trying this out. Just be careful because it is a little bit drying, but I haven't been having any problems yet because I only apply a very small amount and am (hopefully) offsetting it a bit with a moisturizing cleanser *knock on wood*. Persagel 10, I love you!

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
carsandparties 8/18/2012 2:16:00 AM
I purchased this on a whim to cover the blemishes I've been getting lately and absolutely love it. The coverage is buildable and blends really nicely. When I first got it out of the tube, it looked way too dark/orange for my fair skin, but once I put it on, it blended beautifully. I don't even have to use concealer to cover my blemishes, just dab a little bit on and blend with my fingers. It has a sort of dewy finish, so if that's not your thing, you might want to find something else. I just put powder over it and it stays nicely all day for a more matte finish. Also, it hasn't broken me out further, and I have really sensitive, acne-prone skin. It's good for making my skin look nice and fresh without being overdone. I've never tried a "real" BB cream, but this works well enough for my uses and is a lot easier/cheaper to come by. I'm not entirely sure it does all of the stuff it claims on the bottle, but for a decent foundation with a little bit of moisture and an SPF without breakouts, this works great. Definitely give this one a shot.

Shampoo -John Frieda - Full repair shampoo
carsandparties 8/18/2012 1:59:00 AM
I purchased this because it was on sale and my hair has been a bit dry because of (minimal) heat styling coupled with the weather. After 3 or 4 uses, I noticed my hair was falling out more than usual and was literally breaking off at the ends. My hair wasn't super damaged initially; I use a curling iron on it maybe once or twice a week (always with a heat protectant), rarely ever blow dry it, don't color it and put coconut oil in it every other day or so. I also can't help but feel like the whole Inca Inchi oil thing is a bit gimmicky. The smell of this stuff is also VERY overwhelming. I could notice it all day after using it, and it's a very chemical-y odor; my boyfriend likened it to dog shampoo. I have sort of fine hair to begin with, but this shampoo has made it dryer than ever, even with the addition of coconut oil. I'm really quite surprised at all the positive reviews on this one; my hair is more damaged than it was when I started using this line. Do not recommend.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
carsandparties 8/18/2012 1:43:00 AM
I've been using this facial cleanser twice daily for the past two months or so and loved it when I first started using it. About 2-3 weeks ago, I started noticing that I was breaking out with cystic acne in several spots on my face. These spots have been there for 2 weeks or so solid, and I have been treating them twice a day (sometimes even three times a day). They are very deep and painful to the touch, and look horrible. The areas of my face that aren't breaking out are very dry, and I have also noticed that I am getting fine lines around my mouth and on my forehead since I started using this product. I'm only 22, I don't tan, and always put on an SPF before I go out, so I am fairly certain that it's drying out my skin. I have never had this problem before, even in my teens. I am diligent about changing my pillowcase every week or so, take fish oil supplements, don't touch my face, and eat relatively healthy food, so this product is the only factor I can see that is causing this problem. I used Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for years before trying this product out, and will likely be going to go back to it. For as pricey as the Philosophy line is, I'd think they would make a cleanser that is more gentle and effective.
