Mascara -Korres - Deep Colour Mascara Gray Green (03)

it has been a long time since i have been wow'd by a mascara. i have to say that this product is one of the best cosmetic discoveries i have found in several years. the formula is non-flakey and does not irritate my eyes at all. i love the coverage that the brush provides and you can definitely layer for more intensity. the best part is the color- it subtlely enhances my hazel eyes without screaming "colored mascara". love it paired with cover girl majestic jade liner or mac earthline technakohl liner.
as anyone with very oily acne-prone skin can attest to, treating & preventing cystic acne really can vary from person to person. what works for one individual may be ineffective for someone else. i guess you just have to keep trying different products while sticking with what works when you do find it. i had high hopes for this product and it did not disappoint. i was struggling with cystic acne on my chin six months ago and decided to try this. when applied twice per day on the existing cysts i had, it cleared them up in several days and i also experienced less pain and no scars. i then started to use this twice a week as an all over treatment for my chin and jawline. i have not had any other cysts in that area since starting this routine last summer. i still get the occasional small spot on my chin, but i'll take that any day over painful cystic acne. i'll continue to repurchase once my first bottle is finished. the price doesn't really bother me since i have been using it for 6 months and still have half a bottle left. fyi- other products that have really helped me as well are aveeno clear complexion cleansing pads & alpha hydrox aha souffle.
Cleansers -Aveeno - Clear Complexion Cleansing Pads
carre 8/27/2006 12:12:00 PM
my mom actually bought this product, thinking it was makeup remover pads for some reason... she offered them up to me to try upon realizing they were for cleansing and exfoliating. first, a bit of history on my face- my super oily, acne prone skin started to break out quite a bit more than normal starting about 6 months ago, to the point where i went from getting maybe one slightly cystic pimple on my chin once a month to having 4 or 5 full blown cysts at any point in time. since my skincare routine includes differin and duac, i wasn't sure what to do since i was already on prescription medication. after using this product for 2 months- once a day in the evening (1/2 pad) and keeping the rest of my skincare routine the same- i can say that it has drastically improved the clarity of my skin. i no longer get cysts at all and they have been replaced by 4 or 5 smallish pimples on my chin that come and go quickly. Bottom line- no, this product did not give me perfect skin, but my face looks and feels so much better than it did that i will continue to use it. Also, i love both the smooth and the scrubby sides of pads, the moderate foaming of the cleanser and even the scent...
Self Tanners -Banana Boat - Sunless Tanning Creme - Deep Dark
carre 7/5/2005 7:07:00 PM
it seems that choosing a self tanner is a very individual thing, much like fragrance or mascara- sometimes you just have to keep trying out different products to find the one that will work best for you. for me, this self tanner works great and i have re-purchased many times. i am very fair naturally, but the deep dark color works really well for my skintone and does not appear too orange. i also like savage bronze and find that alternating the banana boat and savage bronze gives the most realistic color, but the banana boat does well on its own too. i love that the lotion does not streak and the smell is not too overpowering. if you are using this product on virgin skin, two coats will give you a definite tan. however, i personally like to apply my self tanner mixed with body lotion every day as it prolongs the tan and keeps any smell to a minimum. i also use this product on my face and it has not made me break out as far as i can tell. overall, this is a great product that's not too expensive, so i'll continue to use it for the consistent results.
Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 1-Couleur Shadow in Cardinal
carre 7/2/2005 2:13:00 AM
this has to be one of the most beautiful eyeshadow colors that i own. almost too beautiful to use... yet it begs to be worn. i love the almost iridescent finish this shadow has- a wonderful bright purple base with a blue-ish sheen. this shadow works so great as a liner used with urban decay x... so pretty!
i have this pencil in the color "satellite"- it's a pretty medium royal blue shade that i bought after reading about it in style magazine. it's my first chanel purchase and i'm not disappointed. the pencil applies smoothly and has decent staying power. my only complaint is that the cap sometimes comes off in my makeup case and i worry about the pencil getting dried out. i think that this eyeliner looks smashing with urban decay x or stila cloud eyeshadow. it brightens up my eyes and makes me look more awake (without highlighting my dark circles like some blue shades do...) i wouldn't repurchase, only because it will take me forever and a day to use up the one i have now!
Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer Blush - Foolish Me [DISCONTINUED]
carre 7/2/2005 1:46:00 AM
i bought foolish me last summer to wear when i was a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. the bridesmaid dresses were black and i was worried about looking pale in the photos, so i self tanned and purchased foolish me for a sunny coral glow. i loved the result and foolish me became my holy grail blush- it looks as excellent with my mid-winter paleness as it does with a tan. it truly is a universal color that goes with almost any makeup look. i haven't even desired another blush since purchasing foolish me... if you have hazel eyes and warm undertones, this is a must!
revlon's super lustrous lipsticks are very underrated. the texture is smooth and creamy, there is a wide selection of colors and the price is right. this is an excellent line to check out when you are looking to experiment with a new shade. i have pretty much stopped buying other more expensive brands (mac, px, etc.) unless the color is truly unique. my revlon super lustrous colors make up a nice little lipstick wardrobe all on their own: i have animal instinct, blackberry, garnet chrome, mulled cider and smoky violet. they all look smashing on my warm, PPP face and bring out the green in my hazel eyes...
i have this product in whirl. it looks like a bronzey brown in the tube and i originally purchased it intending to use it as a bronzer. however, when it's applied, it turns out to be more of a rosy-peach-bronze... it just gives a nice, healthy glow. so, instead of using it as a bronzer, i like it for an everyday blush. i love that it's easy to apply with my fingers, it blends well and it lasts all day on my oily skin.
Cleansers -Eucerin - Pore Purifying Foaming Wash ] [DISCONTINUED]
carre 3/11/2004 11:55:00 PM
the "wow" factor of this cleanser is definitely not in the packaging or the formulation, but rather in the results that you get from it. this has to be the most boring, sterile and strange packaging for a face wash that i have ever seen...it's like eucerin had some extra lotion bottles and decided to use them for a facial cleanser- if they were going that route, at the very least they could've used a pump! needless to say, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. the cleanser itself is a clear-yellowish liquid with no discernable scent. it slightly foams up when used- again, nothing special here. the reason i gave this product a "4" is purely for the results- somehow it keeps my oily, acne-prone skin clear, glowing and healthy looking. no breakouts, no flakies, no clogged pores, no redness, no irritation- just clean skin. i use it every morning in the shower to remove my nightly topicals, but it works just as well at the end of the day to remove grime & makeup (though i prefer something with a little more oomph for that). i am on my second bottle and will continue to repurchase.
Fragrances -MAC - MAC Creations Fragrance Blend Variation Parfumee MV2
carre 3/11/2004 11:33:00 PM
this is the first perfume i have ever bought that i am actually planning to buy again! i am almost finished with my first bottle- purchased a little over a year ago- and i can't imagine being without it. it smells soooooo good- like lemon-vanilla flowers, if that makes any sense :) when i wear this, everyone always wants to know what it is and where to get it. i find that it's long-lasting without being overpowering and for now, would consider it to be my signature scent...
i have this product in tea and it's been a staple for several years. i love the color of the "satin" end. i can't wear cool, frosty pinky-nudes... they totally clash with my warm, PPP skin... but this product is the perfect substitute when I need something softer to pair with a smokey eye. i love the texture as well- it's smooth, creamy and doesn't dry out my lips even though it's long lasting. i don't wear the "matte" color as much, but it does look fabulous with the px lip pencil in umber for a deeper, evening look. yet another excellent px product...
Lip Gloss -Prescriptives - Moonbeam Reflective Gloss - SuperNova 05
carre 2/29/2004 3:51:00 PM
i was attracted to the color of this lip gloss- a very pretty pinky-peach sparkle. it does indeed make your lips look fuller upon application as promised, but that's about all i really liked about this gloss. on my un-pigmented lips, the color is too frosty and pale applied alone. when applied over my favorite lip liner, px umber, it does look a lot better- but i still have to work pretty hard to apply the "just right" amount of lip gloss to get the plumping effect without veering into frosty territory. overall, it just takes too much work to get this gloss to look good on me, but it might work great for someone else...
Lip Liners -Prescriptives - Deluxe Lip Liner- Umber
carre 2/29/2004 3:37:00 PM
i whole-heartedly agree with the previous reviewers comments on this lip pencil. i bought it the week it was introduced several years ago and it's been my constant companion ever since... this is THE lip pencil. it matches anything that i have ever paired it with- there's really no need to own another liner. i love many px products, but this is the product i'd pick if i could only own one thing from the line.
i use scalp therapy in conjunction with the bionutrient protectives cleanser. after using these products for 3 months, both have made a huge difference in the look and feel of my hair- i no longer lose hair by the pile and my hair seems so healthy. i think that the trick with scalp therapy is to only use it on your scalp and use a separate conditioner for the rest of your hair or even over the scalp therapy (right now i like using wella lifetex depth charge with it). needless to say, i use this every time i wash and i love how it smells, how it leaves my roots conditioned but not oily and how much body it gives my hair. will not be without it...
