Bronzers -Too Faced - Aqua Bunny Cream to Powder Splash-Proof Bronzer
careypiper 5/14/2011 4:21:00 PM
Once I heard that this was the dupe for Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronze Makeup Base I had to try it. I was looking for something that was easier to travel with than the huge jar the Chanel one comes in. The texture is the same and it is a great product but it's not a dupe. Aqua Bunny is a Darker Brown and more Pigmented. It also has a shimmer to it that Chanel's does not. I like to wear the Chanel bronzer with MAC Gold Deposit on top when I go out, this (Aqua Bunny) is exact dupe of that in one product. I'm happy that I tried this and will keep it (and replace when needed).

Bronzers -Chanel - Soleil Tan de Chanel - Bronzing Makeup Base
careypiper 5/14/2011 4:03:00 PM
Bronze Universel De Chanel Sun Illuminator is the old name for this product and older reviews can be found under that listing. Love! Absolutely Love this product! I was using N.Y.C. Sunny because it too was a light bronzer with no shimmer, but I started breaking out from using it daily. When I purchased Vitalumiere Aqua I went ahead and added this to my cart and hoped for the best. It's not a mousse or a cream, but a slightly harden cream that depending how heavily you swirl your brush on it equals to how much product you get. So very easy to get as little or as much that you personally need. I don't need that much in the winter so just a few dabs of my brush is enough in the Winter, one complete swirl enough for summer. You do need to use a brush with this product, I prefer the MAC 168 since I use this in place of blush. Also this is a bronzer base so it will add dimension but look like you haven't really applied anything at all. So for daily use that's great, if I want to kick it up a notch I apply MAC Gold Deposit over top to get a deeper color and the highlight from the MSF. I'm a Neutral 20-25 so depending on what I'm wearing (cloth-wise) can really determine if it will be to warm for me. I prefer to wear browns and I don't have any issues of this looking orange. But if I wear black or cooler colored clothing I start seeing the orange that some mention. The only issue I have is the size of the container, we travel to the beach a lot in the summer and this is just to big to travel with. So after hearing that Too Faced Aqua Bunny is a dupe of this I went and picked one up. Aqua bunny is the same texture but darker and has a slight shimmer to it, for travel I'm just going to use N.Y.C. in the place of this until Chanel re-releases the small container they did in their 2009 collection.

Loose Powders -Chanel - Poudre Universal Libre
careypiper 5/14/2011 3:32:00 PM
I really wanted this work for me but after a month of use, I have to say it does not. I've used this this with both Vitalumiere Aqua and Pro Lumiere and had the same effect of overly drying from this loose powder. Every time I used this to set my foundation it would settle into lines, pores and would make me look very dehydrated. So I would only use it on my forehead where I have most of my shine. Then I started to break out from it.

Foundations -Chanel - Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Make-Up ] [DISCONTINUED]
careypiper 5/14/2011 3:26:00 PM
I wanted to try this before it was discontinued, so I picked up a bottle in Limpide/Nude 10 the color was good (a little light) for my Neutral 20-25 skintone. I currently wear Vitalumiere Aqua which is a light foundation, Pro Lumiere is a Medium coverage and would work great as a foundation that I would wear to an event that I knew I was going to be photographed at. I just don't go to that many events and don't need the heavier coverage. I'm happy to had the chance to try it and if it wasn't being discontinued and I had an event to go to this would have diffidently been my top choice. The replacement Perfection Lumiere is suppose to have a wider color range and looks great in the behind-the-scene pictures, so I'm looking forward to the new version.

Concealers -Chanel - Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer
careypiper 5/14/2011 3:01:00 PM
I'm pretty new to the Chanel line of makeup, but after falling in love with Vitalumiere Aqua I wanted to try one of their concealers. VA gave me a glow and when I used my current concealer, timeBalm it just fell flat on the spots I was trying to cover-up and draw less attention to. I found Chanel's concealer to just be a liquid version of my current favorite concealer at a higher price tag. I apply my concealer with a 224 brush, so I actually prefer timeBalm's container to the doe-foot applicator of Chanel's. So after many trails I found to just use my favorite concealer and to lightly apply a thin layer of VA over to blend to a flawless finish.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
careypiper 5/14/2011 2:46:00 PM
I've always worn d/s foundations on a daily bases and tried a few HE ones only to be disappointed by the lack of a good color match, ingredients or just wasn't Wowed to justify the price tag. Then one night a few months ago I had to try some Chanel products and Vitalumiere Aqua had just come out and sounded like it would work perfect for me. Last Summer I tried NARS SG which was a bit too yellow for my Neatral 20-25 skintone, but I tried to make it work and the humidity just melted it away. So when everyone was complaining about the alcohol in VA, I was delighted. Nothing beats Summer the oilies for me than alcohol (my summer toner was d/s Witch Hazel which is high in alcohol). I purchased B20 and it's the perfect match. Since the hot humid Summer is not here yet, I've found that Rose Hip Seed Oil worn underneath has worked to balance VA, because it can be drying. The coverage is light but heavier than a TM. Does a descent job of covering redness, I still use concealer in trouble spots. This is first foundation that has not broken me out and I love the smell. I've already picked up a backup.

I'm a huge fan of the Hibiscus version but wanted to try one that wasn't as warm. Pink Blossom is MLBB for me.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Wedge Eyeshadow
careypiper 5/14/2011 2:21:00 PM
I'm currently using this for my brows, I love the shade and it works perfectly. I also like that it's available in a single container, I dislike how most brow product come as a set and I only use one part of it (feels like a waste.) One issue is, it breaks me out every once in a while. I can't wear MAC e/s daily on my lids because they are very irritating. I've searched for another product but always come back to Wedge since it's the perfect match. The search continues, but I will continue using this until I find something better.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
careypiper 3/26/2011 6:26:00 PM
I usually wear Lash Blast Volume, which okay so I wanted to try something else. I've seen that a few have mentioned that they really liked the Fusion formula better than the regular orange tube. I have normal lashes, normal length and volume so when I try a new mascara volume is what I'm looking for. Fusion actually makes my lashes look less than normal, a bit shabby and thin. I've already giving this to my daughter, after one use.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm - Tiger Lily
careypiper 3/23/2011 12:28:00 PM
Tiger Lily is a light pink tinted lip balm. I don't think I have very pigment lips, but this did not show up on me at all. As a lip balm it's great, very moisturizing. I also have this in Hibiscus and absolutely love it.

Eye Shadow -Inglot - Pearl 402
careypiper 3/19/2011 2:49:00 PM
A Light Brown Pearl shadow with a Rose Gold Sheen (Neutral Cool) that has a finely milled texture, not powdery at all and packs on nicely with a flat shader brush. I found that Inglot shadows work best when patted on, oppose to brushing on. They go where you put them and then will blend out or blend with another color with ease. When using a Crease brush with the shadows, I found you have to dab the shade were you want it and then blend out. Again placement, then blend.
It's an opaque shimmer with a pearly sheen, a glow within shimmer. Nothing over the top or too metallic. Texture is like a MAC Veluxe Pearl or a Urban Decay Deluxe.
TIP: These are next to impossible to remove from the palette, but if use one of the corner magnetics from the lid and slide it along the palette flat to catch the edge of the pan you would like to remove, out it comes. It takes some practice but take your time and you'll be rearranging your palette in no time. **My 10-Pan Palette is deep set and this didn't work, 20 and 2 pan palettes works fine.**

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit (Rococo)
careypiper 3/14/2011 9:07:00 AM
I was worried that this dark copper gold was going to be to much for my NC/NW25 complexion, but it works. I use a 187se with a light hand to apply as a subtle bronzer highlighter over my normal matte N.Y.C. Sunny bronzer. Gold Deposit adds a little more depth and that great MSF glow with very little product.

Polishes -NARS - Orgasm
careypiper 3/6/2011 6:53:00 PM
This is a pretty shimmering peach n/p but applying it requires far too many coats to get that rich color to look even with the sheerness of this polish. I did not find it worth the time or the money. Plus it's a little to girly for my taste, nice for wedding but that's it.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Brown
careypiper 3/6/2011 6:45:00 PM
I have average lashes so I like mascaras that has great color, which this one does and add a little length again this does and volume I love volume which this does perfectly. However it's waterproof and I don't need waterproof mascara since I hate trying to remove it. I don't use long wear makeup since I'm happy with my skin care routine that doesn't have enough muscle to handle anything heavy duty. Sadly I've moved on to other mascaras. If you love deep brown mascaras, or waterproof mascaras or have a skin care routine to handle waterproof makeup I would strongly suggest to give this a try.

Lotions/ Creams -BeneFit Cosmetics - Bathina Body So Fine
careypiper 3/6/2011 6:36:00 PM
I strongly dislike reading review that are along the lines of "oh my goodness the smell" but this is the one product that falls into that category for me. I can't stand the smell, so I gave it my daughter and it still drove me nuts so I kindly asked her to bring it over to dad's and leave there. The product is a balm so it's thicker than a body butter and I didn't find the product applied easily or moisturized enough to take the time to apply it for it's subtle shimmer to give me that glow from within look.
