Cleansers -Mary Kay - TimeWise 3-in-1 cleanser N/D
calico32 6/21/2009 11:30:00 PM
This is my HG cleanser. I have normal, acne prone, sensitive skin. My skin dries out if you look at it the wrong way, so I have to be very careful with the cleansers I use. My mom became a MK rep 8 or 9 years ago and gave me a tube as a gift; I was instantly hooked. Moisturizing enough to keep my skin from cracking in winter, but light enough in summer to not cause an oil slick. I'm going to have to find a new HG cleanser, since I'm not a fan of MK anymore and my "dealer" is no longer in business. Also not a fan of the price.

Skincare - Body -Palmers - Shea Butter Formula in a jar
calico32 6/21/2009 11:23:00 PM
I first came across this @ Wally World, as I was desperately looking for something to soothe my cracked dry hands. I picked up a trial size tub of this, since I was on my lunch break. This stuff is wonderful! The texture might be a bit grainy at first, but as soon as this heats up on your skin, it melts and feels like silk. I have a tendency to have dry skin and butters are the only things that keep me from getting that "white girl ashiness". This butter is very inexpensive, works wonders and is easy to find. A little goes a long way, so keep that in mind. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this is not one of those lotions that you slap on after the shower and go. This is an extremely moisturizing body butter. Great for overnight treatments. I will never be without a jar of this at home!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact Brown
calico32 2/3/2009 12:22:00 AM
I've been using Lash Exact for a while- since I first noticed it in the store. Since I'm a pale redhead, black or black brown mascara can be too dark for me to use on a daily basis. I'm very happy with this shade of brown. I don't need lengthening or volumizing. I just need something basic that will darken my blonde lashes. I love the brush b/c I don't have to blot the wand before applying. Over time the mascara does dry out a bit and can get kind of thick, but I've only noticed this happening after using the tube for 2 months or so. they say you're supposed to toss mascara after a month anyway, so when it starts getting thick, I toss it and purchase a new tube. This is my daily go-to mascara. I've tried others, but I keep coming back.

Gels/Soaps -Caress - Tahitian Renewal Body Wash
calico32 1/27/2009 3:26:00 PM
The tropical smell and great lather bring me back to this body wash time and time again. I'm not too fond of the price ( $5 for bodywash?! I guess I'm cheap), but this is a must try. The package markets the was as exfoliating, but quite honestly I don't see any.

Conditioner -Suave - Biobasics Conditioner
calico32 1/27/2009 3:13:00 PM
I used this conditioner for about a month. I didn't see anything that made this conditioner better than anything else you can buy at Target or Walmart. After 1 month of use, my hair looked like I wasn't even using conditioner after I shampooed. My hair was dried out, full of static and was not looking good. I don't think my hair has looked this bad in years. My hair is color treated, but I've not had issues this bad. I threw the bottle away.

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences- Hydralicious Reconditioning conditioner
calico32 1/27/2009 3:06:00 PM
I purchased this conditioner 2 weeks ago, while I was desperate to find something that could turn my dry, straw-like hair into something reasonable. My color treated hair was just not reating well to the bitter winter weather. After using this conditioner the first time, I can say that my hair no longer felt or looked like dark straw. After regular use, my hair is definately getting much needed moisture from this product. No more fly-aways when I take off my coat, and it looks much healthier. Definately a keeper for me. I've been so pleased with this conditioner, that I haven't even opened the other 3 conditioners I bought to try.

Treatments (Eye) -Reviva - Glycolic Acid Eye and Throat Gel
calico32 5/19/2006 9:28:00 PM
I bought a sample of the Glycolic Acid Eye and Throat Gel when I was shopping around for a glycolic acid cream to apply at night to help fade a few red marks on my face left after a particularly bad bout with hormonal acne. My skin is very sensitive, combo with dry cheeks. I used this gel all over my face every night for about a week and I see a signifigant difference in the darkness of the red marks. The gel does not irritate my drier skin. The gel has no smell and does not sting when going on. So far, this is a great product and I am VERY happy with it.

Cleansers -Dove - Sensitive Essentials fragrance free foaming cleanser
calico32 4/15/2006 2:14:00 AM
I love the packaging of this product; reclosable pump bottle. The cleanser itself has a creamy pearl-like consistancy and it foams really well. It removes my mineral foundation as well as can be expected. Unfortunately for me, this is where the positives end. As others have mentioned, for a supposedly fragrance free product this cleanser has the most horrible chemical smell. It actually makes my nose burn every time I've used it. I don't know why I didn't pitch this in the trash or use it as hand soap after the first use.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Beyond Perfect Protein Nail Color - Sheer Lotus Petal
calico32 4/30/2005 11:10:00 AM
AS the other reviews have said, this color is a fabulous natural color for those of you who want a low-key nail polish.Looks alot brighter in the bottle than it will look on your nails.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Vinyl Stars-Star Kissed
calico32 4/30/2005 11:08:00 AM
This gloss is a sheer bubblegum pink shade with gold shimmer to it. The shimmer is nice and not too shimmery for work. Great Gloss. My only problem with it is the smell. It smells like candy but doesn't taste like anything, so that's slightly distracting.

Liquid -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind foundation
calico32 4/30/2005 11:04:00 AM
I purchased this foundation b/c my skin is very dry in winter, and I'm still searching for my HG winter foundation. I'm very fair, but even the lightest shade offered was way too dark for me. Talk about a makeup mask! The formula was too thick for me and the packaging just sucks. Definately won't repurchase.

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin
calico32 2/7/2005 10:51:00 PM
AOBS was the first Lush Item I ever tried. I'm so glad I did. This has replaced St. Ives as my HG scrub. How intensely it exfoliates depends on how hard your scrub and how much water you mix in with the product. I have to agree, the packaging sucks, especially for travel. The product can be a bit difficult to use the first few times, until you learn what application method works best for you.

Treatments -Ponds - Pore Cleansing Strips
calico32 2/7/2005 10:14:00 PM
I bought this product when my Walmart was out of Biore. What a mistake!!! I was surprised when the instructions had me take a wet finger and wet the adhesive, but I gave it a shot. This is one of the messiest products I've ever seen!!! I put the wet gooey strip on my nose, and it wouldn't stay down. How is it supposed to pull gumk out of my pores if the strip won't stay on my nose??? After it dried, it felt like plaster, so I hoped for good results. Nope, pulled out nothing. Horrible product. Pond's should take this back to the drawing board!

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise Hydra-Renewal Continuous Moisture Cream
calico32 1/27/2005 10:13:00 AM
I bought this as a last resort for the dry chapped skin on my face. I had tried cetaphil, aveeno, almay...the list goes on and on. I picked this up on Sunday. By Wed. all my dry patches were gone and no longer red or flaky. So far this hasn't caused acne, but I will update if it does. The other posters were correct in saying that a little bit of this milky cream goes a long way. If you put too much on, you will have a greasy face. Overall, I am very impressed with this product and will continue to purchase as a winter face cream.

Cleansers -Ponds - Clean Sweep Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes
calico32 1/25/2005 12:37:00 PM
I have used these for 4 months. I have tried other brands, but always come back to Ponds. The cloth is pre-moistened and made of a soft material that is not abrasive to sensitive skin, which I LOVE. It is very effective in removing all my makeup and cleansing the skin. I can be a bit lazy in the evenings and used to forget to remove my makeup, but not anymore! Currently I have a few dry patches on my face, thanks to windburn/cold dry air, and these don't overdry them at all. I still need to use a moisturizer of course. Great product!
