Cleansers -Noxzema - Daily Cleansing Cloths

I do a lot of theatre and stage make-up is always a bit too over the top for me to go out public in, so I'm no stranger to cleansing wipes. I've used a variety over the years and these are the BEST I've found thus far. They remove everything I've been know to slab on my face (the ONLY exception is the Covergirl Lash Blast... it does a decent job but that mascara doesn't budge once it's on). I don't find them irritating or drying at all, also there's a slight scent to them but nothing overwhelming & it doesn't last on the skin. I've seriously gone through many package of these and they're now my go to face wipe. I've bought mine in a foodstore everytime but I've seen them in Target & Ulta as well. They're also cheaper than the other face wipes I've used in the past which is always a perk.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5

Let me start by saying I'm indifferent on purchasing it again, maybe yes or maybe no. Anyway, I LOVE the effect of this mascara but it is impossible to take off and therefore kills it in my book. It's long lasting, doesn't flake, is a deep black, really gives my lashes oomph... but at the end of the day it will not budge. I've tried different face washes, different make-up removing wipes, oils, etc. and NOTHING removes it fully (baby oil is what removes the most of it but even that doesn't get it off all the way). Whenever I wear this I kick myself for it b/c of how much I feel like I abuse my lashes when trying to take it off. If I could find something that removed it all, then this would get a 5 rating. I feel that I have other mascaras that do the same stuff without all the hassle but for some reason I come back to this one every few years. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! I also love the packaging... I don't know what it is but I like how bulky it is & it's always easy to find amongst the other items in my bag. I also love the brush, I think it's a good size and a soft plastic that doesn't bother my eyes when applying.

Mascara -Revlon - DoubleTwist
rated 2 of 5

I've been on the hunt for a great drugstore mascara and I grabbed a few at random and this was one of the ones I chose. The brush on this is TERRIBLY scratchy and painful! Seriously the damn wand could be a weapon. The mascara itself is volumizing but also very crumbly (for lack of a better word). On my top lashes I don't find so much clumping but on my bottom lashes it clumps like crazy. I would not re-purchase this & I don't recommend it to others. The results are decent when I have used this and I could maybe see myself using this on my top lashes here & there - but the wand kills it for me.

Lipstick -MAC - Snob lipstick
rated 5 of 5
caitlinmarie86 5/5/2011 1:33:00 AM

I'm definitely more of a nude/pale pink lips kind of a girl but I wanted something pink and fun for going out and this is what I chose. I really like Snob, the only reason I said I wouldn't re-purchase it is because I don't see myself going through this tube anytime soon and if I did I'd probably want to try out another lilac-y pink color before committing to this again. It's definitely a bright lipstick and a bit out of my comfort zone (I'm such a baby) but it's such a fun night out color! I don't find it drying and I haven't had any issues with it sitting in any lines in my lips. I like it with a nude gloss over it for a more daytime look. It's a bit bright on me because I'm so fair but I think it's a bit unexpected and fun! MAC (& YSL) lipsticks are my favorite and this one didn't let me down either.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
caitlinmarie86 5/5/2011 1:23:00 AM

This was a total splurge item for me but I'm a chapstick hoarder and finally caved and grabbed this. It is ridiculously overpriced but I love it! Does it work better than some of my other lip balms, I'm not too sure but I can say it lasts on my lips way longer than any other ones I own (believe me, I own a lot). It's very, very moisturizing and lightweight on the lips and smells like sugar & lemon. (I keep telling people it smells like lemon meringue pie but I've never smelt lemon meringue pie so idk... haha). I'm definitely a lip licker/smacker and it still lasts for a while. The other thing that makes the $22 worth it, is the packaging. you have to screw the lid on/off which is such a nice change from all the regular chapsticks - I feel that it's more secure when I throw it in my purse when I'm in a rush. The packaging is also very sturdy and a bit heavy for what it is but I prefer this for sure! It says lip treatment on the packaging but I don't get why, it's a lip balm - a great lip balm - but a lip balm. I don't see myself buying this constantly but it will most definitely be re-purchased whenever I feel like indulging myself. The smell does linger a bit on the lips but it's not overwhelming and when I lick my lips it doesn't really have a taste to it.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 2 of 5
caitlinmarie86 5/5/2011 1:04:00 AM

I'll start with the one positive thing first - it matches my skintone like no other foundation ever has. I wear shade 110. With that being said, it matches extremely well but doesn't cover any red-ness in my face, doesn't cover any scarring I have, and clings to my dry spots. It's crazy frustrating because this foundation is supposed to be a full coverage foundation and I feel like it doesn't help me at all! I've tried it with brushes, my fingers, sponges, and nothing seems to make this work. I've had it for a while now though so I don't feel comfortable returning it which means I'm trying to use it up, ugh. I LOVE that it comes with a pump (okay, so I like two things about it) but a pump alone cannot sway me from hating this foundation. I've tried wearing different moisturizers and primers with it and still it's a no. I'm open to suggestions on ways other people make this work for them because I do want to use it up and not waste $40.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 5 of 5
caitlinmarie86 5/5/2011 12:39:00 AM

I've always worn full coverage foundations assuming I needed them but as I'm getting older and more into skincare I feel that this may not be true anymore so I wanted to try a lighter coverage foundation and this was the one I picked. I went to a counter & got matched (damn you Sephora for not having the 2 lightest shades) and wasn't positive if I wanted to purchase on the spot b/c counters don't return opened/used products so the girl gave me a generous sample of it in my shade (number 2, Mont Blanc). I used the sample for about 2 weeks and the second I ran out I went to the mall and bought a full bottle. It's not cheap ($42 bucks) but I think it's a great foundation. It's a very runny consistency & very lightweight, I find that it's very easy to apply (with my fingers), and that it stays on for quite some time. I have dry skin (w/ some ever so wonderful dry patches on my cheeks) but instead of clinging to them, it glides over them wonderfully. The color is a bit yellow but I have a lot of redness in my skin so I prefer this in my foundations (to cancel out the redness). I find that my nose gets a bit oily a few hours into wearing it, so I carry a powder with me but it's usually only my nose that needs it. It's definitely a light to medium coverage but I think it does a great job of covering my blemishes and evening out my skin. I'm usually a NC15 in MAC and a 110 in MUFE HD Foundation for reference. I also find that this foundation gives my dull skin some life, I don't want to use the word glow but in a sense I guess it's the most fitting. I look more awake when I'm wearing this. When I'm at my palest I look to put a powder over it to lighten me up a bit (I'm just uber paranoid about my face not matching the rest of me) but now during the Spring when I'm out a bit more, it's great without it. I would recommend this to anyone that is on the hunt for a light-weight, easily blended, light to medium coverage foundation. It's a hefty price tag but worth it, I swear! Oh, it does transfer though (not to my clothing but on my phone when I get off of it) but I don't always set it so that probably has something to do with it. My only other "bah" feeling about this product is the packaging, I love NARS packaging even though it gets dirty fast but with this either my lid is screwed up or idk. You can pretty much keep spinning it on (it makes a sound if you keep doing it) but I never know if it's on all the way or not! I haven't had any problems with it spilling out or anything but I'd rather not even have to worry about that at all! Past that, I love it!

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Intense Mascara
rated 4 of 5
caitlinmarie86 4/10/2011 8:04:00 PM

I would like to give this mascara a 4.5 if I could, but a 4 will have to do. I had received a sample of this and loved it, so I figured why not splurge on the full product. I bought it in January and have used it since then, it's almost done but it's still going strong. I LOVE the effect this has on my lashes, it lengthens them, volumizes them, seperates them, and curls them amazingly. There's two reasons I'm not giving this a 5. First is because (for me) it's a 1 coat only kind of mascara. It gets a little flaky if you try to go past that 1 coat ( it does great things with JUST 1 coat but still). Second is because I feel like my lashes "fall" after a few hours of wear with this (I'll say around 4 1/2 to 5 hrs.), they definitely lose volume and since you can't really spruce it up with another coat you're sort of stuck. With that being said it is a great mascara and I would re-purchase it but not right now because I'm all about trying new mascaras currently. I will say I love the packaging, I mean Chanel just looks classy so that's always a plus!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
caitlinmarie86 4/10/2011 7:19:00 PM

I absolutely adore the Naked Palette! I got very lucky when it first came out and snapped one up right away. I love that you can create multiple looks using this palette and don't really need to stray from it when doing your makeup. My favorite color is probably Toasted but they're all beautiful. I kind of wished I had grabbed this later on and received the brush with it opposed to the double ended eyeliner but oh well! I would definitely repurchase this.
