Cleansers -Dermalogica - Skin Clearing Wash
rated 5 of 5

This may be it--I think I may have found my HG cleanser. This has completely boosted up my skin beautifying routine, for sure!! I use my purity for MU removal but this for actual cleansing and it has made a difference indeed. It has cleared up those irritating little whiteheads/pimples, has evened out my skintone as well as the surface of my skin-literally lifting those pesky little rooted pimples lying beneath the surface. GONE! In conjuction with my Clarisonic, this is a winner and a keeper. I'm through trying to find something better, because I'v honestly (finally) found it:) BTW everything else I use is DS and works amazingly. I just happened to stumble across this in a recent swap request (Thx MUA). Although it's somewhat pricey, I'm willing to shell out the $$ not just for beautiful skin but for actual results!!! May you all have the same luck and find your winner;)

Fragrances -Trish McEvoy - Blackberry and Vanilla Musk #9 EDP
rated 4 of 5

Just got this and had to immediately spritz.......... and while I do like it (alot actually), it reminds me and smells EXACTLY like Philosophy's falling in love, which surprisingly I hated. Upon further investigation (hehe) I discovered that this is a more mature, much less coyingly sweet fragrance than falling in love. Where the notes, dare I say.... again, are identical, the drydown is pleasing, softer, and more expensive smelling with #9. Not sure of the staying power as of yet, it remains to be seen, but for the time being it's a keeper! EDIT: This scent, on me, lasts forever! Again, it's not one of those scents that enters a room before you do or lingers after you leave--this is soft and feminine, and after hours on (actually the next morning) I could still catch hints of it when I moved. The $$ is a killer but I love it!

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Shadow in Galaxy

What an awesome product!! This color is gorgeous. Like another reviewer mentioned (and so accurately described) it is a pewter/gunmetal with some silver and taupish tones--LOVE. It may seem like a weird description but it totally works, it reminds me of MAC Wolf pearlglide in e/s form, which is also in the silver family but with a warm tone. This is perfect for a DAYtime smokey eye. Give it a try and I'm certain it will not dissappoint!!!

Skincare - Body -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Body Oil Spray
rated 2 of 5
bv711 5/20/2009 3:37:00 AM

I'm obviously in the minority but I just don't think it lived up to the hype:( I didn't mind the texture, since it really wasn't very "oily" but the scent left a lot to be desired--it didn't scream Bronze Goddess, that's for sure! It just basically smelled like suntaning lotion--no better, no worse. It was also very faint and nearly dissappeared as soon as I had put it on. Not worth the $$ IMO, but perhaps the perfume is better?? *crosses fingers*

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Enough Said
rated 2 of 5
bv711 5/20/2009 12:29:00 AM

Wasn't really impressed with this one---therefore didn't purchase. It looks like a foundation color--a total miss. I would imagine it would end up looking quite orange on ppp and somewhat chalky on GGG or darker. Test before you buy!!

Blush -MAC - Sheertone blush in Tenderling
rated 4 of 5

Muted peach/pink beige with a matte finish that is just glorious. Despite bieng matte it gives a healthy glowy look. I don't have many mattes in my collection, so this one is treasured. When you need a "bare" face for an intense eye, this is my impulse (and safe) go to blush.

Lipstick -MAC - Mattene in Flattering
rated 5 of 5

This has just recently become a favorite of mine. It's almost an exact match to my own lip color and with gloss on-this is da bomb!! I will say that on me it looks a lot like MAC Faux, so for you girls looking for a close dupe, that may be it. Love it and if I can get my hands on more, I'll stock up!

Bronzers -Too Faced - The Bronzed & the Beautiful Bronzing Powder
rated 5 of 5
bv711 4/30/2009 4:48:00 PM

Lately I have been underestimating these newer, younger brands--TF, UD, etc. But boy have they recently been putting me to shame!! I love, love, love this trio and not to mention the brush--aHmazing! All three bronzers are fab and sometimes I use one and sometimes all three at once!! For me they're completely buildable and show up great--pink leopard on me looks identical to MAC redhead MSF--best part is that for less than $10 more, I get 2 more bronzers and a fantastic brush. This is a steal! Can't get enough. My other blushes will feel hurt since I see myself reaching for this a lot!!

Polishes -Essie - My Private Cabana
rated 4 of 5
bv711 4/27/2009 12:46:00 AM

I really like this color --to me it's barbie meets baby pink. With 2 coats it's enough to notice that you're definitely wearing polish, but it's still soft. What I don't like is that for this type of color I would prefer it to be less sheer--but I'll survive!! LOL Would repurchase since I love the formula and like to have a variety of pinkish polishes on hand for whatever, whenever!

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Eversun
rated 5 of 5
bv711 4/26/2009 1:20:00 AM

I've always been a little confused with the proper use of a MAC beauty powder but this was so pretty and subtle in the case that I instantly fell in love with it. Is it a blush-or is it an all over powder???? Anyhoo, It's definitely in the Sunbasque/Honour family--depending on how light you are it could be a great bronzer or contouring blush. For me it's the perfect balance of peach and tan, creating this nude color. I don't use it often (mostly because it's LE), but love knowing that it's there for me whenever I need it!! A keeper!

Makeup Brushes -Pur Minerals - Chisel Brush
rated 3 of 5
bv711 4/15/2009 1:11:00 AM

Brush is ok--will get the job done but lose a few hairs along the way. I'm thinking and hoping it will get softer after awhile and perhaps then could give it a better review. IMO it applies nicely but again it's a tad on the rough side. Since I use it to apply a setting powder, I don't need to use it aggressively and therefore doesn't irritate my skin as much as I'm sure it would had you been applying foundation. Wouldn't purchase again but will use since I have it.

Foundations -Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I generally pass up on anything UD because it just seems targeted to the young--lots of glitter and lots of HYPE. But this powder is so underrated! It would have slipped me by had an SA not stopped me and suggest I give it a try. I was in the store to purchase a powder to set my foundation and originally had decided (against the popular opinion here on MUA)on the Smashbox Halo perfecting powder @ $ 59 USD-which is a extremely huge investment, and because of this I just couldn't commit. So I therefore, I still had an open mind --but I digress. The SA pulled me over and applied this in Trance and Voila, perfection. My skin looked amazingly polished and perfect!! I imagine wearing this alone on those "just running errands and picking up the kids" day would be enough coverage to look good but not over done. I've had it on today for about 12 hours and MU is still in place, looks flawless, and has not irritated my skin nor changed color. SOOOO happy with this purchase. Since it was half the price of the Smashbox Halo, I was able to buy a nice little brush to apply it with --since I hate that mushroom puff top--UGH!! The only CON that I did find was that it did have parabens in it, but hey I've used much worse on my skin! Until I find something better, I will buy this over and over!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Honey Lust (Lustre)
rated 5 of 5
bv711 4/15/2009 12:48:00 AM

At first, I was completely on the fence about this e/s--well now I've completely jumped off and am doing cartwheels all over the grass! This is the most beautiful golden bronzey type of color--it's like amber lights w/out the orange. When originally swatched, it had tremendous amounts of fall out and it seemed very sheer--almost like I'd be applying glitter on my lid-but oh my how wrong was I!! You do have to treat this almost like a pigment--tap, tap, tap on the lid, but once on it is fascinating. I wore it today for the very first time and applied mango mix shadestick all over lid, then honey lust over it, a wash of mink and sable in the crease, tempting in the outer v, and femme fi as the highlight (brow and inner eye). Like WOW--absolutely stunning! I can just think up thousands of combo's with this color-it just works. Great for day time and must be unbelievable for night time (can't wait to try that out!!!). Girls do yourself a favor and try this out before giving up on this one--you may regret it :(

Hair Styling Tools -Babyliss - Pro Ceramic Tourmaline 500 Straightening Iron
rated 4 of 5
bv711 3/30/2009 1:28:00 AM

I like this straightener--it's small, it heats up incredibly quick, and has velvet casing for gripping. I use it mainly to do a wavy hair style and it works beautifully--and I have curly hair. Considering this should last quite a while, I don't intend on repurchasing.

Polishes -MAC - Peppermint Patti
rated 4 of 5
bv711 3/30/2009 1:21:00 AM

It's a real pretty seafoam pastel color, but a little difficult to apply. It can be a little streaky and if you don't allow dry time between coats, you will lift the polish upon applying the second coat--not an attractive look!! But I'll deal with it--glad I got it.
