Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Cherry Me

Say hello to my HG tinted lip balm! Smells great (super fruity!), looks great, and wears great! I like the packaging a lot, especially how it clicks in place when you extend and retract the product. The design is really cute, but I really don't like orange. That doesn't hinder my love for this product, though! The colour is a really pretty red, and it looks different depending on the way you apply. You can use more coats for a darker shade, or use a lighter hand for a natural, rosy colour. I personally like more of a matte finish, so I lightly dab the balm on my lips instead of gliding. I can honestly say this has definitely helped with moisturizing and softening my lips. It's also got SPF, and it's SPF 30 to boot! I'm definitely repurchasing when I run out, and I may even pick up Quenched while I'm at it!

Powder -Revlon - PhotoReady Powder - Light/Medium
rated 4 of 5
bunnymonocle 10/10/2012 9:33:00 PM

This works so great for me. The powder itself looks shimmery both in the pan and on my skin, but it's not overwhelming or anything. This is the first shimmery product I've used that still looks natural! It provides pretty good coverage for a powder, and it sets my makeup well. I don't find the need to retouch throughout the day. The brush sucked, it was made out of cheap plastic and synthetic fibres, but I don't really mind at all since I have my MAC129SH. It's a little bulky but the pact reminds me of a camera, which fits the theme of "photo ready". There's also a tiny rectangular mirror but I don't use it at all. If I ever run out, I will repurchase.

Concealers -Rimmel - Hide the Blemish

The coverage is great, but this caked so quickly, so badly! Due to its creamy texture, it got caught and piled up on my dry areas and looked terrible. I like the idea of the lipstick packaging, but I almost confused it for my tinted lip balm! It's cheap at $5, but I got what I paid for, I guess. I won't be repurchasing due to the caking.

Eyeliner -Revlon - REVLON COLORSTAY CRÈME GEL EYE LINER (all colors)
rated 5 of 5

I LOVE this gel liner. I'm big on gel eyeliners because I find they have the most uses with the least amount of skill. The brush is pretty good, but it takes some practice. I don't feel the need to use my MAC208 to apply this liner, the brush it comes it is just fine. I got the black version, and the colour is very bold, even with just one swipe. With a primer, this stays on until I use my makeup remover. It's waterproof, as long as you don't rub or swipe your eyes after they get wet (which you shouldn't do anyway!); just pat and dab. Without a primer (I have oily lids!), I find this transfers to my under eyes and on my lids in a couple of hours. It's probably just because of my oily lids, because when I swiped some on the back of my hands and went to school to test the staying power, it only faded a bit. No smudging or anything. I won't repurchase because it comes with a lot of product (I only need a small amount since I like to simply draw a thin line) and I don't wear eyeliner daily.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
rated 4 of 5
bunnymonocle 10/10/2012 9:11:00 PM

Okay, let's get this straight. This is NOT a BB cream. In any way. This is a TINTED MOISTURIZER. If you're arguing with me right now, go do some research on the history of BB creams, and how they got to where they are today. The claims on this thing are…confusing. "Helps blur the look of imperfections, creates a natural looking glow, skin looks visibly smoother" and "compliments skin tone" all sound like one benefit to me. I'm pretty sure you could more or less put all of those under "enhances the look of skin" (which is actually on the bottle already!). I also don't think those should even count as benefits, really. I expect that of my BB cream already! "feels fresh" and "oil-free" shouldn't be on there, either! They don't actually do anything! So we're left with 2 actual benefits. "with SPF 30" and "hydrates all day". So, we've got a moisturizer with a good amount of SPF and tint to provide coverage and skin tone correction. Good. The shade light/medium matches me perfectly and really does cover up the redness of my face, and also brightens my rather dull complexion, but everything looks natural. The coverage is rather sheer, though, so don't buy this if what you're looking for is coverage. It does have a yellow-ish undertone (yay!) so it doesn't make me look brown. I wear this on top of my sunscreen and under my powder, and I have never experienced anything regarding excessive oil production. I hate how everything is on a sticker. I absolutely hate it when stickers are used. That comes off as cheap and messy to me. The tube holds a measly 30ml (which I actually find is more than enough, as a little goes a long way!) and has a twist-off cap which locks into place. It's very easy for product to spill and the nozzle is way too broad. The hole is small, though. I will repurchase when I run out for travelling.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush
rated 4 of 5
bunnymonocle 10/10/2012 8:48:00 PM

I got this blush in #15: Rose Petal. When I had researched this product, I had thought that the texture would be like silly putty, and bounce right back! (But I bought it anyway orz) To my surprise, when I lightly poked it, it was super soft! It kind of feels like baby's skin, I guess. When I pressed a little harder, I had put a dent into it, so it's not really bouncy at all. Anyway, I was looking for a blush that is super natural and wouldn't look like I'm wearing any blush at all. Boy, did I find one. Rose Petal is probably the least pigmented of all the blushes, and I love it! Instead of using a brush or pressing into the blush, I take my index and middle fingers and, with a light hand, swirl them around the product. Then, I apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks, and I end up with a very pretty, natural glow. I get a lot more pigmentation this way, but it stays ever so natural. Sadly, it's a little on the expensive side. I won't be repurchasing only because I think this will last me a very VERY long time, and I want to try out other blushers.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 4 of 5
bunnymonocle 10/10/2012 8:40:00 PM

Definitely a great foundation for its price. It provides great coverage, has low SPF so it doesn't give your face a white cast in flash photos, and it's easy to blend and layer. It doesn't cake or feel heavy, either. My only problem was that the shade I got (I actually got matched at the makeup counter, mind you) didn't match me! I got the true beige for normal/oily skin and my face looked brown. An easy fix would be to just buy another in a different shade, but I prefer using BB creams as they actually provide my skin with benefits. I also broke out after wearing the foundation all day, but it might have been due to my diet and stress levels at the time. Oh, and the bottle is glass with an open mouth. I prefer using a pump or a tube. I won't be purchasing this again only because I have better products for cheaper.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
rated 2 of 5

The concealing power of this product is actually quite low. It barely covered up my dark circles. This works a lot better as a highlight, but it's not nearly good enough to justify the price. You're getting 1.5 ml of product, most of which is wasted through the packaging (this kind of packaging works a whole lot better with lip glosses!), and it barely qualifies as a concealer. Don't waste your money on a measly 1.5 ml.
