HG ALERT!! I'm really happy to have finally found my HG foundation, the amount of money I've wasted the last year has been unthinkable, either it made me break out, wasn't the right shade or dried out my skin...and I was really considering going bare-faced because I got pretty sick of it all. I recently got a sample of this in Beige #40 off Ebay and although I did like it initially, I just forgot about it and decided that it just wasn't right. I dug it up again a few weeks later and started wearing it everyday, and I fell in love. It just looks so beautiful on the skin, so natural yet it covers imperfections, it looks radiant but not shimmery and doesn't highlight my pores. It's just like you have beautiful healthy skin. After using up the sample, I decided to go ahead and buy a full bottle and I'm pleased to say that I still haven't broken out from it nor has it dried out my skin. What's even better is that I only need a small amount - even less than a pea size - and I use Smashbox's #13 foundation brush and it just glides on beautifully and covers my whole face. I then set it with MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder and it lasts all day long, I don't use a primer just my everyday moisturiser. I'm just amazed with it because it never looks oily and that glow just lasts all day unlike other foundations. I will say that only buy this if you are NOT looking for a full coverage matte foundation as this is the total opposite of that. I highly recommend this foundation even though it is expensive, I think it's good economical value because I only need to use a small amount and I think the bottle will last me a year at least. I think it would be suitable for most skin types especially normal-dry skin types and possibly even combination skins. Love love love!! :) For reference, other shades I wear are MAC NC35, Stila 50 Watts, Dior #33, MUFE HD #123.

Liquid -Christian Dior - DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup SPF

I really like this foundation. I was actually considering not buying this when I read the reviews of it on here but I'm glad I did anyway. I'm used to TMs/foundations with light coverage so when I heard that its cakey/heavy etc I ran a mile...but then came back again. Now the texture of this is thin and liquidy and I only use a pump and its enough for my whole face. I just blend with my fingers on a clean and moisturised face and then go over with a sponge lightly to ensure everything is properly blended. And what I end up with is a flawless, semi-matte face. Not heavy, not cakey, just good coverage, weightless and beautiful finish. I think it really depends on how much you use and what application technique you use, its best to use a little at a time because this has pretty good coverage so you are likely to look mask-like if you use too much. I've worn for whole days and it looks great all day. I have normal-dry skin but in the summertime my t-zone has a tendency to get oily when I wear foundation but with this one, it doesn't. It also doesn't dry my skin out which I really like. I don't wear this foundation everyday because I prefer sheer/light coverage for everyday but this is definitely one I reach for when I want to look flawless and perfectly polished. It also looks beautiful in photographs. I use the shade Apricot Beige 033 which is a spot-on match for my NC35 skintone, I think the right shade is also key in this looking natural, try a sample before you buy. I really love this and would recommend it to anybody looking for a very lightweight, longlasting, natural looking - but medium-full coverage foundation. A* for me :)

Tinted Moisturizer -Smashbox - Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

I love this TM! Its been a really long time since Ive been looking for a good base...I've wasted a lot of money in the process too. Thankfully, I then found this! This TM is really wonderful, it has more coverage than the usual TM but looks so natural. It does not look makeupy at all, blends in really well and covers my blemishes and evens out my skin beautifully. It leaves a lovely dewy finish, but not over the top that you look oily/shiny. It feels moisturising on the skin but not greasy, and even at the end of the day I don't see dry spots on my face or my skin doesn't feel dry...and for me thats just great because I have normal-dry skin and with most foundations, my skin does look a bit dehydrated after 7-8 hours. I love the texture of this too, its nice and creamy and you only need a pea size amount for your whole face, so the 50ml tube will go a long way. I set it with loose or pressed powder very lightly and it stays well through out the day, starting to fade after about 7-8 hours which in my book is pretty good for a TM. I use the shade Light and I'm around an NC35-37 and it blends in well for my skintone. I have tried Laura Mercier, Dior, Bobbi Brown and countless others but I think this one tops them all for me. The only downside to it is that Smashbox is not easy to find in the UK, only available through QVC, Ebay or justbeautydirect.co.uk so you can't actually try anything...but I'm okay buying it online as long as I can keep finding it. Recommended for anyone looking for light coverage that has a dewy radiance to it. A* from me :)

Concealers -Vichy - Dermablend Skin Concealer
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 5/15/2009 6:29:00 PM

I have found my HG concealer!!!!!! I'm so excited to have found this product, I stumbled upon reviews of it recently and decided to buy it online....not really expecting anything amazing, I was shocked when I put it on my horrendously dark under eye circles...they just disappeared! Previously I've been using Bobbi Brown's corrector in Peach to neutralize my very dark greyish brown circles and applying concealer on top of that...it worked okay but I still wasn't completely satisfied because it still showed through. With this concealer, I don't need a corrector or anything, just some eye cream and a TINY dot of this and pat it on with my ring finger and the results are wonderful! My eye circles are pretty much gone and the under eye area looks a lot more brighter, plus it stays on all day without any powder on top!! The texture is like a gel-liquid, very silky and smooth and it blends very easily and sets to a matte finish. I use the colour Medium 30 which is a PERFECT match for my yellow-toned skin --- MAC NC35-37, Estee Lauder Intensity 3, Stila 50 watts. My search for a concealer is officially OVER!!! WOOHOOO!!!

Foundations -The Body Shop - Nature's Minerals Foundation
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 3/26/2009 7:33:00 PM

I'm surprised by the reviews here because I really like this mineral foundation. I have tried a gazillion this past year in an effort to find something that would suit my skin colour, look radiant and last all day without drying my skin out. This fits the bill. I use the colour 4 and its a perfect match, I love that this is light and natural-looking, it never looks like I have anything on my face no matter how much you put on! The finish is semi-matte but not shiny, just a soft glow. I do agree that it doesnt cover much but you could always use a concealer with it if that was what you needed. I personally, am happy to use concealer if needed and like this to even out my skintone. I also use it to set my foundation/TM sometimes and it works well for that too. The jar it comes in has a mesh instead of a sifter and it works really well to stop the top overflowing as its easier for it all to go back in. The other great thing is that it lasts all day, that never happens with minerals for me - even though Im not oily, they never last - but this one day without a primer. I find that pretty impressive, plus it doesnt have any irritating ingredients. I will definitely be buying this again as I think - depending on your needs - it really is a pretty great foundation. Highly recommended for those that are looking for a non-drying, long lasting, light coverage mineral foundation. A* from me :)

Liquid -Korres - Wild Rose Foundation
rated 3 of 5
bumbles26 3/19/2009 10:18:00 AM

I was very lucky to recieve this product in a swap, full size and as new. I have it in WRF4 and its a perfect match for my golden skintone. I LOVE it! I also use the Korres Ginger and Vitamins Foundation and that is lighter in coverage than this one. This one offers medium-full coverage but since I only need light coverage, I use a very light hand and use my fingers to apply and I get a really lovely dewy even finish. I think it really does brighten my complexion, makes it look very healthy and it lasts all day without a primer. What I really like is that it looks dewy ALL DAY unlike many other foundations that tend to lose that look after a few hours. I have normal-dry skin so this is perfect as it feels quite hydrating but not oily, I love the way it feels on my skin in comparison to the Ginger and Vitamins which does feel a bit more on the drier side. I have found that using a foundation brush or a stippling brush does increase the coverage for this foundation and so it would suit anyone that wants a light coverage through to those that want a heavier coverage. Just remember that for a lighter coverage, use a small amount and work it from there. Try out different application techniques till you get the look you want as it is very versatile. The other plus point is that I love Korres' philosophy as a company and although this foundation isnt 100% natural it does have good ingredients in it and hardly any or no irritants that can be found in most other foundations, so if have sensitive skin then this would be a good option to try. The only downside to this product is the bottle as you have to be careful how much you pour out but that isnt such a big issue. Thankfully I didnt pay for this as I do think it is expensive but I will definitely buy it once I run out because it really is that good! :) Highly recommended A*** UPDATE 26/03/09: I'm loving this even more now. It really does brighten my face up and looks natural too. I like it more than the Ginger & Vitamins :) UPDATE April 09: Decided to swap this as even when I use it lightly, looking in natural light, I look too made-up. Too full coverage for me. =(

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 3/8/2009 4:05:00 PM

This is without a doubt, my HG undereye product. It's one of those that I would never do without. Love love love!!! I've had HORRIBLE dark circles most of my life (genetic) - they;ve gotten even worse over the past year as I'm a tired sleep deprived mum of a toddler. I've tried many different concealers to erase them but everything made them look worse, I'd always end up with a grey overcast making them look 10 times obvious. My circles are brownish grey and using yellow concealers or skin colour concealers highlighted them and changed them to grey. I then found Paula Dorfs special camouflage which has a peach corrector and yellow concealer. That really worked for me but overtime I found the texture very dry and difficult to blend. After hunting some more, I found this great find. Firstly, I love the texture of this, its so creamy and easy to blend and doesnt take much time because of it. It REALLY minimises my circles, neutralizing the colour. I then put my Lancome Maquicomplet concealer lightly on top and then brighten in the inner part of the circles with my Estee Lauder Ideal Light illuminator...and voila! Lovely bright eyes, I always look like I've had the best sleep ever but little does anyone know :) Sometimes if I'm in a hurry, I skip the concealer on top and just use the illuminator on top and that works too. Highly recommended for anyone that is suffering from dark circles that are impossible to cover with regular concealer. A***

Liquid -Korres - Ginger and Vitamins Foundation, SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
bumbles26 3/8/2009 3:56:00 PM

This is my new love! After realising that my Dior Hydraction TM was looking a bit dark for me, I was on the hunt for something similar. I'm really into natural skincare and quite aware of what goes into the products I use so I like Korres's philosophy. Their products are not 100% natural but they do have gentle ingredients without harsh irritants. This particular foundation is really lovely, it is water-based which makes it non-greasy and it has a very blendable texture. It has light coverage but you can use it with concealer to cover your blemishes etc. It evens out the skin beautifully and leaves a lovely natural, luminous finish. It does not look at all like you're wearing make-up and doesnt feel heavy in any way. I wear the colour LF4 which is PERFECT, I've honestly never found something with such a great match. (for ref. I am an NC35 in MAC). The even numbers are yellow-based and the odd numbers are pink based. As the day wears on, the foundation does fade after about 6 hours or so but I wear it with Serious Skincare Olive Oil Primer and it lasts all day. I highly recommend this foundation if you're looking for something that doesnt feel heavy or look mask-like, gives you a natural but even look and has better than your normal foundation ingredients. A new favourite :)

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Nutritious Vita-Mineral SPF 10
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 3/4/2009 1:24:00 PM

I work in a dept store and the estee lauder counter is just in front of me, so it was hard not to notice this foundation. I'm really into products that don't have many chemicals and give a natural look to the face. This is one of them. I got a sample of it, and boy do I love it! Atm I'm using Korres Ginger and Vitamins Foundation and that is a lovely foundation so is this. It is a beautiful lightweight foundation that blends really easily to a smooth semi-matte finish. It covers my uneveness and marks well and all I'm left with is a glowing natural looking face with not hint of make-up. It lasted all day too. I got the sample in Intensity 3.0 which is a PERFECT match for my NC 35 skin, not orange or pink that is usually the case. I'm definitely gonna pick this up, I think it is expensive but seeing as you only need a pea size amount everytime, I think it'll last a long time. Highly recommended for anyone that is looking for a natural lightweight foundation that gives you a beautiful glow all day. A**

Tinted Moisturizer -Christian Dior - Hydraction Deep Hydration Skin Tint SPF 20 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 12/24/2008 8:46:00 AM

I HAD to review this, only because its the BEST tinted moisturiser ever! I have tried soo many these past few months such as; Bobbi Brown, Paula Dorf, Stila, The Body Shop, Boots and so on, only to find that the colour match was off, they weren't moisturising enough, they were far too sheer to be called tinted or they didn't last long enough. I was getting quite fed up but I thought I'd try this one and Im so glad I did! For reference; I have normal-dry skin, about NC 30-35 in MAC, decent skin with uneveness and few blemishes so don't need much coverage/make-up. What I was looking for: - a good moisturiser that actually hydrates the skin - not too oily or too dry - skin looks healthy and natural - some coverage to even out skin and fade out blemishes - some light reflecting particles just to add a natural amount of radiance - lasts all day Now that sounds a lot but would you believe that this actually ticks all those boxes! I use the shade Golden 03 and when I first bought it I was pretty sure it was too dark for me. I was using it over my usual moisturiser and used the MAC 187 to apply it. The effect was pretty unflattering, I looked orange, greasy and blotchy. I tried the same technique over the next few days but I was getting the same results, really unhappy with my money wasted, I left this at the back of my drawer. Then a couple of weeks later, I decided to try again, this time on a bare clean face - no moisturiser prior to it and I applied with my fingers instead of any brush. I was surprised with the result - a gorgeous natural look! A slight bit of dewyness, not dry or shimmery, just radiant. My skin was even, my blemishes were covered up...it was PERFECT!!! My skin didn't feel dry like it usually did with most TMs, it felt hydrated but without any greasy feeling or look. I looked in the mirror about a thousand times and loved what I saw, all I added was a bit of blush, mascara and gloss and that was it. Im really happy with this TM, I would highly recommend it to anyone with normal/dry skin as I don't have oily skin and don;t know how it would work for those. It really does deliver, and I think its worth the price tag because you only need less than a pea sized amount for your whole face. I set it with my Korres powder and it lasts all day too........wonderful stuff!! BUY IT!!! :) UPDATE: 4 Feb '09 ---- Still loving this! I tried some other foundations/TM's in between but I keep coming back to this one, all of them looked unnatural and it was obvious I was wearing make-up, this is totally natural on me and is like a dream product for me, even during these winter months when my skin is pretty dry, this is wonderful and feels so great on...no breakouts or anything either. LOVELY! :))) UPDATE APRIL 09: Found this is too dark for me, mainly more orange rather than yellow which is a real shame as this really is a great TM. No. 2 is too light for me. Wil not repurchase. UPDATE JULY 09: Well I was on the lookout for a TM and I just had to buy this again because it really is the BEST! I bought the same colour 03 again and I found the lighting I was working in previously made it look not so great, but in all other lighting it looks brilliant. I have tried so many other TM's these past few months and I have not found any that compares to this, its just brilliant whether its summer or winter, I will be using this without a doubt...its so wonderful, has a soft focus quality about it, covers well, hydrates really well and just makes my face look flawless but natural. If you're looking for something better than Laura Mercier, TRY THIS!!

Foundations -Givenchy - Sublimine
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 12/15/2008 2:40:00 PM

I'm reviewing the Givenchy Subli'mine Sculpt Light. I really like this foundation a lot. I don't use foundation much as I don't need it, my skin is pretty decent with uneveness and 2-3 blemishes from when I had bad spots on my chin, so I only tend to wear concealer and powder / tinted moisturiser. Recently, a really sweet MUAer gave me a generous sample of this as an extra...and it happened to match my skin perfectly! I'm using shade Exact Mocca 660. This foundation gives a beautiful radiant dewy finish to my skin. It lasts all day and doesn't dry out my skin, instead leaves it feeling soft and moisturised. It's a very light foundation and doesn't offer much coverage but its enough to even out my complexion and leave it looking healthy. I used it in photos too recently, and my face looked really alive and dewy. The sculpt light version has a special light reflecting complex that has gold particles and tawny particles, depending on the way the light hits the face, the tawny particles contour the face and the gold highlights areas that need highlighting. So the face looks more defined. I personally don't use it for that reason, I just like it because 1) its moisturising 2) dewy finish 3) lasts all day 4) good colour match. I love it! Really recommended for anyone with dry skin and not much to cover.

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
bumbles26 11/12/2008 10:22:00 AM

This was becoming one of my favourites until winter came along and this hasn't been moisturising my skin effectively as before. This is awonderful tinted moisturiser if you're looking for moisturising normal skin but I wouldnt buy it for dry skin as its not that great. It gives a very sheer look to the skin, not very noticeable but it does do something. It look nice and natural with a bit of loose powder on top and the best thing I like is that its long lasting and its still there at the end of the day. Havent given it a five cos of the not so great moisturising qualities in winter...for that try Dior's Hydraction Skin Tint...GREAT STUFF. Either way this is still good if you have good skin and aren't looking for layers of makeup.

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer
rated 1 of 5
bumbles26 11/12/2008 10:19:00 AM

I RIS from a wonderful swapper. I've tried it a few days before reviewing it and I have to say Im very disappointedd :( I really wanted that glowy/illuminated look other reviewers speak about but this did nothing for me at all. It didn't moisturise, it didn't give a glow, it just felt like I put on a light moisturiser on my face and thats it. I didnt expect coverage etc but I thought I would get some illumination. I wouldnt recommend this at all, instead Id highly recommend the Stila IPF which is 100 times better than this and actually does give a subtle but noticeable glow to the face. Thumbs down for this one!

Mascara -Max Factor - False lash effect
rated 5 of 5
bumbles26 11/10/2008 3:02:00 PM

My new HG mascara! I love this! It makes my lashes lovely and long, and curls them too. It lasts all day without smudging and comes off easily with a wet wipe. My previous HG was L'Oreal Voluminous, but this is much better as it doesnt get clumpy and I find the wand comfortable to work with, feels as though I have better control in application. It is expensive but I think its worth it cos it really does give a false lash effect. Try it!! :)

I LOVE this blush! It really gives a beautiful glow to the face, I use it either as a contour or alone as blush and it works great for both ways. I really like that it's matte as it doesn't look unnatural. I highly recommend this blush, it is gorgeous!!
