Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Waterproof
rated 3 of 5

so i have short, skimpy asian lashes that are such a hassle to curl. curling my lashes takes up half my make-up routine, and i'm still on the lookout for that perfect mascara that will change my lashes dramatically. When advised by a girl friend that i should purchase waterproof to help hold my curls better, i picked this one up based on the reviews here. This is the first mascara that has ever made my lashes this noticeable and held the curl for the rest of the day. The downside: like other reviewers have mentioned, the brush picks up way too much product and i end up wiping off around 80% of it with a tissue because 1) to avoid clumps 2) i want my lashes to look as natural as possible, but with a litle length and volume. Now here's the worse part: mascara stays fresh after 2 - 3 hours, but around the 5th or 6th hour i get major panda eyes. For that reason alone, i'm not completely confident i would buy this mascara again, but i must say it is the best mascara i've used thus far.

Treatments -Sunsilk - Beyond Brunette Colour Boost
rated 4 of 5
bumble17 2/20/2008 4:52:00 PM

I bought this after dying my hair dark brown (i had dark copper hair with blonde highlights before). I wanted to save money from getting all these dye jobs so i decided to buy this to help maintain my brunette hair. It's worked so far since my hair color hasn't faded. Be warned: this stuff smells slightly of hair-dye. So if you can't stand the smell of chemicals, this isn't for you.

Styling Products -TRESemme - tres two extra hold hairspray
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 2/20/2008 4:38:00 PM

I usually don't use hairspray, but I recently got a haircut with lots of cropped layers, which looks fabulous when I tease (backcomb) it. So I got this hairspray based on the reviews here, and I didn't quite know what to expect since I've never really used hairspray. But now that i'm getting better with practice, i'm quite happy with the results. It doesn't dry TOO quickly upon application, which makes re-shaping a little easier. The hold is pretty decent and it doesn't flake or leave my hair feeling dry or sticky. The scent is nice... reminds me of men's cologne though. As for price, it was dirt cheap for such a huge bottle. This will last me for months to come. thanks for the reviews, mua!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 2/15/2008 3:39:00 PM

I'm using this product as a back up until I decide which shade of foundation to buy from Everyday Minerals, and when that time comes i'll be ordering their custom kit. I've ordered some samples so far and want to make sure i use the right shade before i order the large size... and while physicians' formula has been good for me so far (goes on smoothly, easy to apply, no breakouts) it's way too pricey compared to Everyday Minerals.. I bought it for 18.99 CDN which i find unreasonable since for $32, everyday gives you any selection of SIX products on their site , including foundations, eyeshadows, makeup brushes, concealers and blushes!! What a steal!! and they only use all-natural ingredients so it's much healthier for your skin than alot of drugstore makeup.. i highly recommend checking out their website www.everydayminerals.com. Oh and i don't know why there are still 5 lippies since i gave packaging only 1 lippy.. the packaging sucks!!! powder flies all over the place no matter how carefully i remove the lid.. i recommend using another plastic container if you have one around the house.

Treatments -L'Oreal - Dermo-Expertise ReFinish Micro-Dermabrasion
rated 4 of 5
bumble17 2/2/2008 4:42:00 PM

this is my very first micro-dermabrasion kit and i was a bit skeptical at first because i'm really self conscious about my skin. I have acne prone, semi-oily skin with lots of blemishes and old acne scars. im alway scared of products that would make it look worse than it already is!! after using this a few times i would say that it has been very beneficial, my skin is alot smoother and my scars seem less visible. i was worried that it would be very harsh on my skin but it is surprisingly VERY gentle (of course that also depends on how hard you scrub) and feels really good when you're massaging it on your face, it really feels like youre getting a good scrub and taking off all the dead skin cells. its a little on the expensive side (i bought it for 15, original price was around 25) but i think its a good investment for that extra step to great, healthy skin. I would repurchase again.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Addict Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 1/28/2008 3:56:00 PM

i found this lying around in my bathroom (i think it's my mom's) and decided to try it for fun. I love it!! i forgot what color it is, but it's an orangey-pink shade. It looks glittery in the tube but not on the lips. It's moisturizing and looks a bit glossy too! i love it!

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub
rated 3 of 5
bumble17 1/28/2008 3:44:00 PM

i was a bit skeptical as i've tried older lines of neutrogena cleansers and they always dried my skin out. i'm still sitting on the fence on this one. i'm not sure if it's actually helping my acne at all. After I use it, my face looks worse than it was before using it, but the next day it'll calm down and actually look a bit better. i want to like this product cuz i've tried soo many, but I'm just not sure if it's making a big enough difference to give this 5 or even 4 lippies. i'll have to try it for another couple of weeks or so and edit this if anything changes.

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 1/28/2008 3:27:00 PM

Finally a concealer that claims not to crease and actually lives up to it!! I've been searching high and low for a concealer that wouldn't crease, wouldn't dry up and get all cakey at the end of the day, and every product i've tried up until this one has done one or the other. Granted at 20 bucks a pop and for such a small tube, it's a hard pill to swallow.. but a little goes a long way so you need only a little for good coverage. LOVE IT! Finally, no creases! so happy!! haha

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Sunday Brunch
rated 3 of 5
bumble17 1/28/2008 3:19:00 PM

i bought a sample of this, thinking it was going to be a rosy red "just came out of the cold" color. Well it's sure rosy but leaning more towards an orange-y color, which didn't look good on me. And if you put too much on, (and it's very easy to do so because it's so pigmented), it looks even worse. If you look good with an orangey-red blush then maybe you'll enjoy it. I do look good with orangey lip colors though and i have yet to try this on my lips!

Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 1/28/2008 3:11:00 PM

Everyday minerals has made a believer out of me!! I previously (and still kinda do, for now) use liquid foundation. I ordered samples of this underestimating the coverage a bunch of powder could give.. I have some mild acne and a bunch of old scars on my cheeks and chin that I doubted mineral makeup could do a good job covering up. Upon testing it out one morning just for fun and to confirm my assumptions, i was amazed. With ample layering (not as much as I expected), I was able to achieve the look i normally get with my liquid foundation. The differences were astounding though. It felt light, like I wasn't really wearing anything, and I also didn't look shiny but I still maintained a a healthy glow and didn't look fake. Right now i'm wearing "medium beige" in semi-matte, and highly considering ordering a full size.

the wipes are way too rough.. felt like sandpaper on my face. And other reviewers seemed to be ok with using it to remove their eye make up but it stung my eyes pretty badly. too bad =-(

Styling Products -TRESemme - Shine Spray
rated 2 of 5
bumble17 1/26/2008 12:58:00 AM

ugh this was a horrible product for me and i've experimented with lost of different hair products.. this is by far one of the worst. Not to say its completely the product's fault, as it seems its worked well for lots of people. It doesnt give my hair any shine, doesnt seem to do anything for it at all, actually. and the smell.. awful. last night i i accidentally took a whiff of it and it went right into my throat so i could actually taste it. Gross!!!! For a really great shine i will stick to John Frieda!

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - marc anthony simply straight conditioner
rated 3 of 5
bumble17 1/26/2008 12:49:00 AM

im starting to realize that theres really no such thing as a "straightening" shampoo or conditioner because none of it works. Its more like the label is just deceiving because if you have curly or wavy, or even SLIGHTLY wavy hair its not going to help unless you use additonal tools and products like a straightening iron and some straightening cream. At most this will make your hair "feel" softer but dont expect jennifer aniston type of hair with this. this goes for every brand of "straight" shampoo/conditioner. This particular brand is a bit pricier than the other drug store brands and looking at the ingredients list - it doesn't differ much.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Honey Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
bumble17 1/26/2008 12:38:00 AM

What was I thinking? I bought this on a whim when i noticed it was on sale for 2.99 (regular 4.99). I had run out of my HG lip balm (Marcelle) and wanted something quick. Boy I made a bad judgment! This does not go on smoothly at all. I had to go over my lips like 5 or 6 times before feeling any sense of hydration. With Marcelle lip balm, I only have to glide over ONCE to get soft baby lips. And the smell.. well, its not the best smelling lip balm in the world but its bearable. Im sure Burt's Bees makes other great lip balms, but I will never buy this again.

Lip Treatments -Marcelle - lip balm
rated 5 of 5
bumble17 1/25/2008 10:19:00 PM

Wow, i cant believe i havent written a review for this product yet. And why is there only 1 here?? In short, this lip balm is AMAZING! it glides on sooo smoothly and makes my lips soo soft and hydrated, great for wearing under lip gloss or lipstick. It is just so SMOOTH and good for your lips!! the downside would be the price. at around 7 dollars canadian per tube, its definitely not cheap for a lip balm. one tube would probably last a little over a month if you use it daily, but i think its so worth it. this has been my HG for over 3 years. its a staple.
