Eyeliner -Maybelline - master drama eyeliner
rated 2 of 5

Wanted to try a drugstore eyeliner and liked the look of this one, plus it was on sale. I tend to wear gel or liquid eyeliner because I have oily eyelids and pencils don't stay on. I was excited to find this after rave reviews but I am quite disappointed. A couple positives to this eyeliner was the pigmentation and packaging (twist up and no sharpening). The downfall for this eyeliner was the texture it didn't apply smoothly and kept tugging on my eyes. Also it didn't allow for great control. I definitely would not repurchase.

Liquid -Chanel - Mat Lumiere Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup SPF 15
rated 3 of 5

I had high hopes for this foundation. I have oily thus acne prone skin. I got a sample from my local Chanel counter and the MUA matched me up with shade 50 Naturel. I applied it with a damp sponge and dabbed it on my face concentrating on problem areas and then blended to a smooth finish. First impressions were great, it covered well, colour match was good and it smoothed out pores and fine lines. So far, so good. However, after 7 hours of wear I have blotted at least 4 times and re-powdered at least 5. It was a bummer because the coverage when I applied it looked amazing. Thank goodness I asked for sample because I would not be purchasing this foundation based on my experience. Until I find my HG foundation, I'll be back on my Revlon Colorstay. **Update: I am trying out different primers with this and for me I found that it worked ok with MAC's prep and prime. It hasn't transferred as much when I go to blot the oils off my face. I would reconsider purchasing the full size bottle but I still wouldn't run to the nearest Chanel counter anytime too soon.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte: Opera Rose #29
rated 2 of 5

I purchased this shade along with a lighter pink colour after reading the hype about this lipstick. Firstly it's has the most beautiful and luxurious looking packaging, plus it has a really lovely scent. But the formula is moisturizing but it's absolutely horrible. This lipstick feels grainy when applied and also it really highlights the fine lines on my lips even after exfoliating. Its a shame because I really wanted to love this.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
rated 5 of 5
buggin81 1/22/2012 3:14:00 AM

I got mine through a online sale and I was a little bit apprehensive because I had read some people broke out after using the Clarisonic. However, after the first use I had already noticed a difference in texture and clarity of my skin. I use it twice a day morning and night with a gentle cleanser and it has made my skin smoother than ever and has improved the acne scars I have. I absolutely love it. Only downside of this is the price and that brush heads have to be replaced every so often.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 5 of 5

OMG, HG of all foundations. I love the Revlon's Colorstay foundation. They have a great selection of colours, applies well, great coverage and I love the oil-free formula. This is the only foundation that I've tried which is true to their word. Only thing I would change is the packaging, if only Revlon would listen to us makeup addicts and put a pump on it, then it would be perfect. A couple of minor things though, you have to apply quickly otherwise it oxidises and dries up fast, another thing is the smell, it has a strong scent but it definitely dissipates once you apply and spread it around your face.

Liquid -Maybelline - SuperStay Makeup - New Version
rated 3 of 5
buggin81 9/6/2011 5:30:00 AM

Given I've been using Revlon Color Stay for so long now, I wanted to try a new foundation. I decided to give this a go. So here are my pros and cons. Pros 1) cheaper than revlon especially here in Oz. 2) doesn't smell like paint 3) coverage is great 4) consistency is nice and thick. Cons 1) broke me out - boo because I had high hopes and I really like how it applies. 2) package - needs a pump 3) does not last 24hr 4) feels quite oily when first applied even though it claims to be oil-free. Had to use a MAC's mattifying creme as a primer. I really wanted to love this product but sadly I'm back to my trusty colorstay.

Primer/ Corrector -Becca - Silky Hydrating Primer
rated 3 of 5
buggin81 8/19/2011 10:27:00 PM

This was and still is my only primer in my collection. It was kind of an impulse buy and I probably should've done more research. I was walking through a department store and unbeknownst to me went to the Becca counter, who knows why. Oh yeh, I think I liked the lipgloss the MUA had on. I purchased this because she convinced me that it would be good for oily skin and when she swiped it on my hand it felt smooth and it didn't have a strong fragrance. Now it feels quite good on the skin when applied and dries matte, however I did find over the course of the day it does tend to still give me shine. Staying power is quite good for about 4-5hrs but I don't think I would re-purchase as I am struggling to get through it and it is also very expensive especially here in australia.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
rated 3 of 5
buggin81 6/25/2011 11:19:00 AM

This Cetaphil facewash proves to be value for money. However, I did find that you really have to work the product into your skin in order for it to clean your face. I would recommend spending a good minute or so lathering it up on your face to remove traces of make up and dirt. I am very particular about what I put on my face having very oily skin this works fine and also I am quite sensitive to fragrances, and with this there is very little fragrance.

Moisturizers -Yves Saint Laurent - Ideal Defense Creme SPF8
rated 5 of 5
buggin81 4/5/2009 4:13:00 AM

I've been using this product on and off for the last 3 years and it's one of the best moisturizers I've ever used. It's smell can be off putting but I happen to like it and it feels amazing when applied and hasn't irritated my oily proned, which is fantastic. My only gripe is the low SPF protection you get from it and also the cost.

Masks -Korres - Wild Rose Mask
rated 1 of 5
buggin81 3/26/2009 9:23:00 AM

I was given this product as a sample after buying a bucket load of skincare at the Kit counter. So anyways I have oily acne prone skin and having said this the sales lady gave me this saying that it's to be used as a mask and that it would brighten my skin. I tried it the other night thinking that I'd give it a go. Firstly, the mask had a strong smell and not in a good way, think your grandmother's potpurri collection yuck. Secondly it had that a thick lotion type consistency. After application I expected it to "dry out" after a few minutes like most masks but this one didn't. The girl said to leave it on for at least 15 to 20 mins. I only lasted 3 as the mask felt like it was burning my skin, so I quickly washed it off. There was a tingly feeling afterwards but did nothing but irritate my skin.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
buggin81 2/26/2009 8:57:00 AM

I've just started to use Dermalogica products and I am absolutely in love with this cleanser. I tend to have very oily skin and I've previously used harsher and cheaper cleansers which dried out my skin way too much. I've found that it cleanses, takes make up off and leaves my skin feeling extremely clean and soft. Highly recommended.
