Styling Products -ARTec - Textureline Hotstyle Ironing Creme

i've used this product off and on for about a year. lately i've really been liking it a lot. i apply it to dry hair (a dime size amount) and run it through, brush it out, then flat iron. i think it makes my hair a lot more manageable and silky after i flat iron, rather than fried out. it doesn't neccessarily help to keep my hair straighter than usual throughout the day. i think it smells like bananas and bubblegum (like everyone else says), and the packaging is great, though i somehow managed to snap off the pump, so i have to open the screw top and take product from the inner pump itself. i probably wouldn't buy this again because i think there are better things out there for me, but it's good enough that i will use it til i run out. oh and as a side note, if you use to much, it makes your hair sticky.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream
rated 5 of 5

i love this cream. i use it every day, sometimes twice a day after washing my face. my boyfriend stole mine, so i had to buy him his own and he loves it. i notice a difference in how his skin looks (he's 30). he has really good skin, but was getting insecure about tiny wrinkles around his eyes. he's almost done with his tube, and his lines are much softer, almost indescernible. they weren't bad to begin with, but he swears by it and wants to buy another tube already. i love how it makes my skin feel so soft, and it sinks in so nicely with no dryness.

Lips -Bath and Body Works - Lip Kit in Luxe
rated 5 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 2:01:00 AM

this product is a godsend. it really is. everything you need for your lips, in an awesome convienient case with a mirror! there are two color schemes, on of them is Pinkie (which of course, consists of pink colors) and this one is Luxe which is the brown/red/neutral set. it contains: a lip plumper...didn't actually visibly plump my lips, but did give them a nice peppermint tingle. a lip balm... a lip stain...a really nice shimmery red, kind of reminiscent of Mac O. be careful, all you need is a dab, a little goes a really long way. a lip exfoliator... and 3 lip glosses... one of them is a caramel shade, one is mauvish, and the other is nude, almost clear. this new line Goldie was invented by the gal who invented Hard Candy. The prices for the whole line are a bit expensive, this was $22. but for all these things in it, i couldn't resist. the packaging is so cute too. when i went on vacation i brought all these different lipsticks and glosses, but ended up using only this.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Papaya Body Butter
rated 4 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:55:00 AM

i have had body butters in and out of my life for the past 8 years or so, my family keeps buying them and they never get used up. i like the way they smell, and now that tbs has come out with all these new scents, i'm going crazy!!! i absolutely love the way this papaya one smells, although to me it actually smells a lot more like guava or lilikoi. the one thing i don't like about this body butter, or about any of them in general (hence my introduction) is that no matter which formulation i use, it is way too creamy for my skin. it kind of just sits there feeling greasy. but i love the way they smell, so i cave in and buy them, then i sit there with sweet-smelling, greasy skin. it's sad. =(

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Flying Fox Shower Gel
rated 4 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:49:00 AM

flying fox is YUMMY! i smell a dreamy blend of jasmine and honey. sweet and intoxicating, but with a little sensuality mixed in there. i love the way this smells, it makes me feel comforted and warm. the only thing i do not like about this is it isn't particularly moisturizing. i wish it were. but that's ok, i will still buy this soap.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - I should Coco Soap [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:46:00 AM

this is a really cute soap. it sort of smells of coconut, and i like the idea of exfoliating coco-bits embedded in the soap, but something about it weirds me out. i think it's the fact that the next time i shower, i can still feel shredded coconut on the bathtub floor.

i did not like this soap. i was prepared to love it, i thought that i would love anything Lush makes, but i was sooooo disappointed. it smelled like wet pink plastic. *sigh*. ugh.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Chopper Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:38:00 AM

i have had the pleasure/misfortune of owning chopper twice. the first time i owned it, i loved it, and then i convinced myself it was too orange for my skintone. so i swapped it away. about a year & 1/2 later i was admiring it again, and decided to give it another shot. and now it's one of my staples! it is such a gorgeous, buttery "your lids but golder" color with tiny glittery sparkles. it never creases on me, as do other shadows. i like to apply it as a wash, and sometimes even up to my browbone. on some days i just take a blush brush, dip it in, and dust all over my lids, and on nights out, on my cheek bones as well. it's just such a lovely base color, for day or night. looks good on it's own, and looks good paired with other eyeshadows and liners. just a plain good purchase. i'm glad i gave it another shot.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Gorgeous Gold (Veluxe Pearl)
rated 3 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:33:00 AM

i'm not really sure why i picked out gorgeous gold. it's yellow, and i'm not really a fan of yellow eyeshadows, but i thought i'd give it a try. i love the veluxe pearl formula, and if i was an admirer of this shadow rather than an owner, i'd see a shimmery gold based yellow with tinges of green, it's really an ethereal eyeshadow. but on me it just doesn't look right. i can't wear it as a wash, it makes me look sickly, i've tried wearing it on the inner corners of my eyes, but it then becomes the focus of my face, the only way i've worn it where it actually works, is by tracing it over black eyeliner (either on the top, or bottom, or both). it then becomes a really pretty green shade with hints of yellow now and again. i don't know. i wouldn't buy this color again because i don't use it enough as it is. it just sits in my pallette. *sigh*

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Breathe Daily Vitamin Body Lotion - Comfort Scent
rated 5 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:26:00 AM

i really like the way this smells. it's kind of a musky, warm, vanilla scent. the lotion is rich and creamy, but sinks in and leaves my skin feeling moisturized, not suffocated. too bad there isn't a bbw where i live!

Lipstick -MAC - Russian Red
rated 5 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:17:00 AM

i wore russian red this past halloween when i dressed up as Betty Paige. or is it Bettie Page. or maybe Bettie Paige. anyhoo, it was awesome! i never wear red lipstick, so i had a little phobia about drawing that much attention to my mouth, but i got so many compliments on it! this is a matte lipstick with awesome staying power, the red pigment clings to your lips, so even as it wears away it leaves a stain behind. it smells like vanilla and is so creamy and easy to apply. be sure to apply it carefully (with a lipbrush if possible) because once the color sets, it's a pain to get it off. when i woke up the next morning, i still had red lips.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipgelee in Moistly [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:10:00 AM

i like moistly because it gives the shine of a gloss, but without the fly-trap stickiness of one. it feels like a balm. as for the color, well in the tube it may look like a scary vampire blood red shade, it actually is very sheer. it maybe just enhances my lips a *teeny* bit. i like the slanted tip.

Mascara -Prescriptives - False Eyelashes Mascara
rated 2 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 1:02:00 AM

i was in ♥ with the discontinued eyelash curling mascara that Px made, so i thought this would be the next best thing. boy was i wrong. while the packaging is pretty and i like the no-slip-grip on the applicator, the mascara itself sucks. it clumped like crazy, and even while i was applying it on my top lashes, it clung to my bottom lashes as well! how weird, that's never happened. and on top of that, it smudges like crazy. anyway, i'll use it till i can't stand it anymore, and i'll never buy it again.

Skincare - Face -Aveda - Tourmaline charged Protecting Lotion
rated 3 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 12:59:00 AM

this was just "eh" for me. it was hella expensive, and really doesn't do anything special. but then again, it's not completely horrid. it didn't make me break out, it doesn't leave my face oily, and it doesn't smell bad. i don't really know WHAT i was expecting from this product, but what i DO know is that i'm going back to my trusty olay complete. for a 1/4 of the price i get a product that is just as good - if not better than this. bye bye aveda.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Carbon
rated 5 of 5
brown_cat 8/17/2005 12:55:00 AM

is a sturdy, matte-black eyeshadow. i like to apply it with a little fix+ and apply it with 266 as a liner. it gives a nice, dark true black line that won't budge or fade for a while. i like it so much, i even bought one for my mom.
