Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish - Cheeky Bronze
brookeab 1/30/2013 1:34:00 PM
Darn MAC and their LE products! This is my HG bronzer. It looks just perfect on my skin tone. I have an olive skin tone and I love using this! I have already purchased a backup on specktra! I can't say enough about the color of this MSF it is a pinky bronze shade, not too over the top and a great compliment to my skin. I get the most amazing warm glow from this product. I just love it! I hope MAC comes out with something similar in the near future. It doesn't seem to be too sparkly either. Blending enough is key, and blowing off any extra product on the brush helps too. I use the mac 182 brush for this one. Also a skunk brush from sigma if I want a lighter application. If you can find this, please try it!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Coco Pigment [DISCONTINUED]
brookeab 2/25/2008 8:03:00 PM
This is my number one all time favorite MAC pigment. I am a huge neutral fan and I love taupes more than any other e/s color. This is the perfect taupe shade IMO and is worth hunting down. I got my first coco pigment in 2005, and it has been love ever since. (It is also still full!) I recently swapped for a backup of this pigment because I want to make sure that I will always have this shade. Judging by how long pigments last, this one will be with me in my grave! This color is a shimmery silvery taupe. It is slightly less purple than subtle is on me, which is why I like it better. The texture is like butter and it goes on very easily. MAC has come out with a lot of taupey e/s (subtle, sunny daze, sweet sienna) but this one is the best for sure. This should be a staple in everyones MU kit. Lets hope MAC comes out with this again!

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Northern Light
brookeab 12/18/2007 1:12:00 AM
The first northern light that I got from MAC.com had no veining, and I was sooo sad that it looked just like glissade on my skin. I felt like MAC had just thought of a new name for glissade and resold it. A lovely MUA member CPed a northern light with a TON of veining for me after reading my thoughts on the northern light that I currently had. After I got the skinfinish with more veining, I was IN LOVE. The dark veins in mine give it a really rich tone on my NC30 skintone. It actually looks like petticoat on me, but a little more of a dusty rose than a raspberry pink. This is a little chunkier than some of the past MSFs, but if I blow on my brush the glitter isn't too bad. If I could find another one with some good veins, I would buy again in a second. But, since it probably will never happen again, I guess I just have to love the one I have!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Pleasureflush (Rococo)
brookeab 12/18/2007 1:05:00 AM
I purchased pleasureflush several months ago because, being the crazy collector that I am, I felt that I needed to have it to complete my MSF collection. This is NOT worth the hype IMO. It's just a shimmer highlighter that people put too much value on. Pleasureflush doesn't really show up as a color on me, (NC30) but a slight pink shimmer. This is something that I can get out of other products that I own. It is even pretty similar on my skin to porcelain pink. If you can get this for a decent price and want to try it, I would go for it. But, I would not pay anything over 50.00 and I don't plan on purchasing this again. If you can, get the terra del sol dupe, it is IDENTICAL and much cheaper if you can get a nice person to CP for you.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
brookeab 12/6/2007 8:25:00 PM
I LOVE purity! I purchased the monster 32 oz size from QVC, and I love that it has a pump. This is the ONLY product i have found that can totally remove my makeup without having to rub my skin raw. It even takes off the mascara that I use, and I use a lot since I have no eye lashes. It does not bother my eyes and it's nice to be able to get my mascara off without the product bothering me. It also makes my skin feel super soft and very clean. If you are looking for a great cleanser, go for this one! I would buy this again in a second!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
brookeab 11/1/2007 4:25:00 PM
I must say, I fed into the hype around this product. I found this at my local wal-mart and instantly purchased it in the very black. I was curious to see how it compared to volume exact and lash exact. I must say, the lash blast is just about twice the size of volume exact, and the lash blast is only 6.95 at my wal-mart, about the same price as volume exact and they do pretty much the same thing for my lashes. I wouldn't say that this is the best mascara out there, but, I can tell you that it is better than the diorshow mascara on my lashes, and diorshow is soooo much more! When I put this on I did notice that there was little to no clumps in my lashes, something that I can't say for volume exact. The very black is a true, deep black, so if you are looking for a super black mascara, this one is probably for you. I have just about no lashes, and this did a pretty good job at finding the ones that I do have and plumping them up. I can say that I like my lashes to be LONG, and this mascara did more volumizing that lengthening, which I should have known since the package mainly says VOLUME. This is not the best mascara that I have tried. I would say lash exact is my HG, but it doesn't have near the product amount that lash blast does, and I go through lash exact very fast. So, yes, I would probably end up buying this again!

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
brookeab 9/27/2007 5:25:00 PM
I got a sample of this in my sephora order, and I am GLAD that I didn't purchase the full size. This felt so heavy and greasy on my skin. I have sensitive skin and the day after I had worn this, and keep in mind I only had it on for an hour, I broke out on my chin and cheeks. I am used to bare escentuals, so when I put this on I felt like I had just put on a mask of some kind. It didn't seem to cover up any of my problem areas, it was too shimmery, and my skin hated it. I can say that I will never purchase this, I'll stick to my bare escentuals!

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Spill
brookeab 7/22/2007 7:03:00 PM
I must say, the reviewer under me has a really good point. The skinfinishes should not be to the point where some are better than others if it is the SAME PRODUCT. Who wants to go through a pile of the same product to find the "perfect" one? Laura geller doesn't seem to have this problem, and on top of that, she has hers available 365 days out of the year. I love MSFs, but they were a MUCH better product when they first came out. They can't even be compared to the new ones, and the older ones were 18.50 when they were first released in 2004. Anyway, on to my product review. I love this MSF, I guess I got one of the really good ones, because mine has almost no glitter. It goes on smooth, and if there is extra glitter on my brush I just blow it off. On me, this is a nice pinky brown. It isn't a really dark color on my skin, and I am an NC25-30. I imagine this would be a highlighter on someone with really dark skin, unless you happen to find one with lots of dark brown veining. The texture isn't as good as past MSFs, but mine isn't as glittery as naked you. (That is the WORST one IMO.) I would buy this again (and I did for a backup.) because I am curious to see how it will be different from the one I already have.

Liquid -MAC - Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
brookeab 2/14/2007 10:30:00 PM
EDIT: After two times of using this, my skin BROKE OUT. Looks like I will have to swap this one. I am an NC25 (NC30 in summer) with normal to dry skin and this is the best foundation I have tried so far. I don't usually wear a lot of foundation. For one, I could never find one that I REALLY liked, and two, I didn't really think I needed it. After trying this, I KNOW I need it. I like the fact that this is a low to medium buildable coverage foundation. I don't need a HEAVY foundation and this feels nice and light on my skin. This foundation gives my skin a subtle glow, and I can hardly see any shimmer. (Though I have heard from some that it looks glittery on them??)It makes me look so healthy, and I don't know how I walked around without it. :) MAC says that this is Especially suitable for normal-dry skins, and I agree. I think on someone with really oily skin this could look to wet or shimmery. I would say try this if you can, it's awesome!

Highlighters -MAC - Skinfinish-Stereo Rose
brookeab 2/5/2007 12:17:00 PM
This is my all time HG blush and MSF! This was made for my mid olive skintone. It looks like it is coming from within, and not like a caked a bunch of blush on my cheeks. This shows up as a nice pinky coral with a hint of shimmer on my cheeks. I have three, so I don't think I will run out anytime soon! If you have the chance to get one that isn't $70.00, I would do it! It is more than worth the try!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit (Rococo)
brookeab 2/5/2007 12:14:00 PM
This one is pretty with a VERY light hand. I have had this for almost a year and it is still pretty much full. (which shows how much I actually use it!) The orangey color is a little bit of a turn off, but on my skin it doesn't look all that bad! (I have a mid olive skintone) It is not worth the hype that it has, and it's REALLY not worth $60-$70 on ebay!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish -Shooting Star
brookeab 2/5/2007 12:11:00 PM
I thought I loved this one, but a second look of it on my skin changed my mind. It almost looks like a smeared powdered milk chocolate mix all over my cheeks. It doesn't look all that great on me, and I have a mid olive skin tone. Maybe I need to give it another shot, but until then I won't buy this again!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade
brookeab 2/5/2007 12:10:00 PM
I wanted this to work for me, but it didn't. It was almost invisible on my skin. Mine had mostly yellow in it, which may be why I didn't like mine. I would buy this again, but only if I was able to find one with lots of pink veining.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish - Glissade
brookeab 2/5/2007 12:07:00 PM
I have all of the skinfinishes (except pleasureflush..I don't have $200 to spare!)and I think this is one of my least favorite ones. It reminds me of naked you as far as the glitter goes. It's not quite as bad, but its bad enough to where I don't want to go to the trouble of putting it on when I am in a rush. This also doesn't show up on my skin all that well. The peachy pink shade goes on almost clear with glitter. I am afraid to layer more on because I am afraid I may look like a disco ball. I don't think I would buy this one again, but I will keep it in hopes that it may work for me someday!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Shimpagne (Rococo) [DISCONTINUED]

I am in love with MSFs. Shimpagne gives my skin a perfect glow, and looks wonderful over other blushes. It if a shame that these aren't around all year long!
