A very cozy, soothing scent. I needed something warm and tame, and this did the trick. There is something comforting about it. I think it's the rice-pudding-y notes in it. I love Hypnotic Poison, and this is relatively similar. I was getting sick of the HP though and wanted something new for a change, so this was perfect. It's a great winter/cool-weather scent, especially. The lasting power is really very good. I'm glad I finally purchased this.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick - Myth
rated 5 of 5

This lipstick is incredible. It gives you that hot, retro look (or as the girl at the mac counter said 'porn-star status' .. hah) of super-light lips, and is actually very flattering - especially when paired with a more dramatic or done-up eye. To anyone who says this is dry or looks weird when you put it on, etc, you NEED to put a gloss over it. It is just the nature of this product. But once you put some balm or a gloss on it, it's gorgeous. Love it love it love it. It's so popular that it was sold out at two different counters, and I had to have it put on hold for me at a third.

Conditioner -John Masters - dry hair nourishment and defrizzer
rated 5 of 5

Like all John Masters products, LOVE this stuff! A couple drops goes a long way. I apply it to my hair when it's damp and it distributes well as you pat/smooth it on, and my hair never looks or feels like I put anything oily on it afterwards. Just smooth, conditioned, and frizz-free. It is 100% steam-distilled essential oils that absorb right away into your hair shaft to condition and shine. This stuff also smells very nice. I use it with JM's evening primrose shampoo, and in place of a conditioner.

Lip Treatments -John Masters - Lip Calm
rated 5 of 5
bretta23 2/8/2007 5:56:00 PM

This is by far the best lip balm I've ever used. It leaves your lips hydrated and chap-free for hours and hours after it wears off, not dry and wanting more like a lot of other balms. It is completely chemical-free and void of any ingredients that could go against the promise of the product. It is a perfect texture and consistency, not sticky at all but still thick enough to provide a lot of moisture. I really like the smell and taste, a light tangerine-lime-vanilla (with a little ylang-ylang) combination, it almost seems too good for such a natural product. I'm going to stock up on this! The John Masters line is amazing.

Styling Products -John Masters - Bourbon Vanilla and Tangerine Hair Texturizer

I absolutely love the smell of this product, and love that it's natural. I really like John Masters a lot, too. Unfortunately, it tends to weigh down my fine but thick pixie-cut hair, and doesn't hold well at all. I think it'd be best for people with longer hair that are trying to take care of fly-aways.

Blush -Bare Escentuals - True all over face color
rated 4 of 5
bretta23 2/2/2007 3:46:00 PM

So I've basically decided that I don't like this brand because of the awful staying power (or lack of power) of their eyeshadows, and the way the rest of their face products make me look/feel. But I really do like this one a lot!! I use it as blush and then the glimmer just kind of falls over the rest of my face. Be careful how much you use though, a TINY bit goes a long way.

Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Liner Shadows

Gorgeous colors, but don't stay put on your eye nearly as long as they should. I agree with the poster below, as well, but will add the comment that no matter what you do it has no staying power at all.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Eye glimmers

Gorgeous colors, but don't last on your eyelid nearly as long as they should. I have used two different primers underneath (Clinique Touch-Base and UDPP) and the glimmer still came off insanely fast.

Moisturizers -Juice Beauty - Oil-Free Moisturizer

I just received this from Sephora in the 6-piece kit to go. I'll update after I use it more, but my first thought is that it STINKS!!!!!!! Organic and without fragrance does NOT mean that it has to smell. For proof, try John Masters Organics products -- some of the best smelling stuff I've used. This moisturizer also felt too light, so we'll see..

Eyeliner -Chanel - Liquid Eye Liner

Surprisingly, it did not stay on very long at all and didn't go on sharp enough. I actually prefer Stila smudgepots, which I never thought could be longer-lasting than Chanel.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil

Looks like a layer of dust over my skin, no matter what I do! The stuff clings to the tiny peach fuzz that covers ones face and looks tacky. Sad stuff :(

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Blemish Cover Stick
rated 5 of 5
bretta23 1/30/2007 7:22:00 AM

LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!! I've been using it for years, it is an absolute staple. I have it in porcelain, the lightest color, and it blends on my skin so well. It doesn't cause me to break out or irritate my skin like some concealers tend to do, and it calms down my redness. It's very light, so I might not like if it I had actual acne to cover up, but it does well with blemishes (which what the name states). I will continue to repurchase this over and over. And to the post below me, concealer shouldn't be kept past a year! Shelf life combined with the bacteria that grows on it does not allow for the same results as it gives when it's a month old.

Conditioner -Avalon Organics Botanicals - lavender conditoner
rated 3 of 5
bretta23 1/30/2007 7:16:00 AM

Hair feels nice and slippery afterwards, but I don't think it does anything to moisturize my hair. The scent is nice, I don't know why others really didn't like it. It says lavender and smells like lavender. Like a post said below, Avalon isn't as natural as they claim. They also run Alba Botanica which contains parabens. While this stuff doesn't, it's a little weird that something else they run does. I'm done with cheap organic brands, time to move onto John Masters and actually get something for my money..
