Lip Treatments -Korres - Shea Butter Lip Balm

Fantastic lip balm, the best I've ever tried. It moisturises wonderfully, restores dry lips quickly and protects my lips from dehydrating for several hours.

Deodorants -Dr. Hauschka - Deodorant Fresh
rated 2 of 5

Just as their Floral deodorant, it is a nice-smelling natural product. However, it does close to nothing for preventing odour. Add to this the exorbitant price and you can safely guess that I am not going to purchase it again.

Deodorants -Dr. Hauschka - Deodorant floral

A nice-smelling natural deodorant - and this are all the positive things I can say about it. It doesn't stop odor and it's only marginally better than not using a deodorant at all.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick

I purchased this deodorant based on all the great reviews on MUA. I am sourly disappointed. The application takes a lot of time and is cumbersome. But the worst part is that it just does not work. Even if I just have a day at home doing small chores around the house and I am not even sweating noticeably it still does not keep me fresh. It is as if I hadn't used any deodorant at all - a waste of money. It's sadly nothing more than an urban legend.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Isabey - Gardenia
rated 5 of 5

Isabey's Gardenia is the most beautiful composition in the gardenia theme I know. Most gardenia-based scents have a sharpness to them. Not this beauty. It's creamy, buttery, it wishpers instead of shouting. Pure elegance.

Candles -L'Artisan Fragrances - Jacinthe et Feu de Bois
rated 5 of 5

I bought a mini Jacinthe et Feu de Bois candle during a L'Artisan sale. It has a very warm aura. I can't pick out the hyacinth, but there is a floral note present which softens the warm, smokey smell. I love using it while laying in my bathtub, a great comfort scent.

Fragrances -Geo F. Trumper - Sandalwood Cologne
rated 4 of 5
bohi 9/29/2010 4:48:00 AM

The opening makes me think of cooked sour cherries with a bit of cinnamon, non of which are listed as official notes. After about an hour the scent mellows down and the sandalwood emerges. It is adorned by warm spices and a lingering touch of the delightful sour cherry preserve. While it is not an exceptional scent it is pleasant and even interesting and it is reasonably priced. If I can live without having it in my collection? Certainly. Would I be happy to own a decant and spritz it on once in a while? Sure! :-)

This started as rotting melones on me, with a nearly stomach-turning effect. Then within two hours it has disappeared almost entirely.

Fragrances -Keiko Mecheri - Ume
rated 5 of 5
bohi 8/25/2010 5:30:00 AM

I am surprised by how low ratings Ume gets. It is one of my recent finds and it got me at first sniff. This delicate fragrance is centered around Japanese plum which oscillates between smelling like a delicious ripe fruit and plum liqueur. I detect some soft white flowers and some woods and spices. It is sparkling and creamy-soft at the same time. Very special and uplifting, definitely on the to-buy list.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Escale à Pondichéry - EdT

This reminds me of Bulgari's Eau Parfumee au The Rouge. It is a similar idea of "tea". However, I don't find any of them to be a truthful interpretation of tea which is a pity. It is a pleasant scent though, soft and not without sophistication. On me it is citrus on a base of "tea idea". I find the citrus elements really well-done but the fake tea disturbs me. EDIT (2010/02/11): I have to upgrade it from 3 to 4 - I am contemplating buying a bottle. I have grown to find it a very pleasant citrus - tea combo, I'd like to wear it once the weather gets hot.

Fragrances -Etat Libre D'Orange - Rien
rated 2 of 5

"Rien", indeed. As in "nothing to write home about". On my skin it is plain incense, I don't detect any of the notes mentioned in the previous reviews.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Lesnez - Manoumalia
rated 2 of 5
bohi 6/18/2009 9:54:00 AM

I can't put my finger on what this smells like. In contrast to the reviews below, I detect absolutely no flowers. Manoumalia radiates warmth like a sun-heated bare ground. Warm and earthy (in a vetiver-kind-of-way) - that's all I can say about it.

The description was really enchanting - frosty violets? Give them to me! But, oh well, all I can smell is vetiver from the first spray to the far dry down. And I am not fan of vetiver.

Fragrances -Parfums De Nicolai - Eau Turquoise

The first few seconds were really adorable with a scent of spicy apricots. But then - alas - some utterly weird note emerged (maybe the seaweed?) which literally turned my stomach. I tried to wait it out and see what happens next but my stomach demanded that I scrub it off immediately. Alas...

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent
rated 4 of 5
bohi 6/17/2009 10:08:00 AM

Upon spraying it I couldn't stop thinking that I know this smell. Then it struck me: Les Saisons Automne by Van Cleef & Arpels! The first few minutes are indistinguishable from the blast of the dry sparkling spices of Automne. Then a creamy coconut note emerges. For about two hours the spices and the coconut co-exist in a dissonant way as if fighting for being in the foreground. Then the spices begin to mellow and the coconut is joined by exotic flowers as the composition warms up and gains more coherence. If I put aside my thoughts of plagiarism I like it quite a lot. It conjours up images of hot summer days but I can imagine it being a real comfort scent during winter days.
