Mascara -Lancome - Cils Booster
bluepig486 11/9/2009 9:45:00 PM
I have been a lancome cils booster xl and the original version user for 4+ years. This stuff makes mascara application easier and does make your lashes look longer and fuller. However, it does nothing to help your lashes keep a curl, even with my shu curler. So recently I changed to the shiseido mascara base. Shiseido does help keep a curl, but it does not do as good of a job in the length and volume department as this one does. If your lashes are generally a happy bunch and stay curled, then this is a very good base. Unfortunately, my lashes are just straight most of the time and won't stay curled without some excessive forcing in the form a of a curler and waxy base. It really depends on your preferences, but this is an overall very good base and I do recommend it.

Moisturizers -Merlot - Moonlight Radiance Natural Grape Seed Night Cream
bluepig486 11/9/2009 9:30:00 PM
I had high hopes for this, but this definitely fell short. First, it was incredibly NOT moisturizing for a night cream. I have oily skin that somewhat decides to be combination in the winter, and when I tried this, my skin was surprisingly tight. I gave it a good month and saw no real benefits, no visible tightening and it didn't reduce any of my fine lines under my eyes when it has the very publicized anti-aging ingredients matrixyl 3000 and argireline. I did break out (avocado oil?) and had some irritation on my eyelids. My face also started to look duller, so I knew that enough was enough. It was also awfully expensive for a drugstore brand, although you do get a lot of product. I will not repurchase because this has not performed the way it should have for me.

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
bluepig486 11/9/2009 9:16:00 PM
I really like this product: clean application, good separation, negligible smudging and no flaking. This is my daily go to mascara, but with an extra 2 coats, you can get very full, glamorous lashes. I recently had a bout of mascara whoring where I leave a good one behind to find others to replace it... I have found some good and some bad, and some I'm still testing. But all I can say is that I really do like this mascara and will probably get another one since i'm almost out. BTW, I got a sample of the Inimitable Noir Obscur, and it was terrible. I have no idea what they did to reformulate it, but it smudged like no other. The original is the way to go :)

Mascara -Bare Escentuals - Flawless Definition mascara
bluepig486 11/9/2009 9:03:00 PM
Hmm.. I don't know how to really describe what's wrong with this mascara. I saw little to no added length, volume, or curl. It pretty much failed at being much of anything, and I wasn't even looking for a wow effect. I had needed an everyday, basic mascara and I'm utterly astonished how this didn't even manage to be mediocre at best. Well, one good thing, i suppose, was that it didn't flake nor smudge... so overall, it did a lot of nothing. Definitely won't repurchase, I actually returned it, and I never return anything :(

Eyes -Stila - Kitten Smudgepot

I use this as an all over color rather than an eyeliner. First the bad, this product dries entirely too fast and as a result, it's hard to blend evenly. I end up with an area on my eyelid that has more product than elsewhere. Also, because it's not so creamy, I feel like it doesn't do such a great job as a powder eyeshadow base either. The good is that it doesn't crease after many many hours, and the one thing that will make me repurchase is the color. It's such a unique, nice, shimmery/sparkly neutral shade that it makes me overlook its failure at being a good cream shadow or base. There's also a good amount of product, so I doubt I'll go back anytime soon to repurchase at 20 bucks.

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark Suede
bluepig486 11/4/2009 1:08:00 PM
I'm not into the matte/suede look of this, so i top it with a top coat and that gives a really pretty purple color. This is the ONLY purple color that I like out of my 20 years of wearing nail polish. However, I can only give it three lippies because it chips so easily and because it takes a lot of effort to remove. There are these microscopic silver sparkles that don't come off. I will repurchase only because of the color, absolutely nothing else about this polish makes me want to spend 9 dollars on it.

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection Volume Couture [DISCONTINUED]
bluepig486 10/7/2009 3:27:00 PM
Great mascara in all aspects. It gives me more curl, volume and length than all of my other high-end mascaras from chanel, bobbi brown, and lancome. For a non-waterproof formula, it also doesn't smudge very much at the end of the day. I love this mascara and what it does for my eyes, but I seem to have a problem with losing lashes with this product. I keep finding one or two lost eyelashes sticking to the bottom of the sink after I wash my face, and I seriously die a little inside every time I see that cause I do not have that many lashes to spare in the first place. I'm gonna put this mascara to the side and go back to my less effective but more expensive ones to see if the problem continues. Update: I really do think this product makes me lose lashes. After going back to my higher end mascaras, I haven't had that problem. :( shame cause I really did like what this mascara did for me.

Powder -Dolce & Gabbana - Perfect Finish Powder Foundation
bluepig486 10/3/2009 4:30:00 PM
I really REALLY wanted to love this product (it's dolce and gabbana). I did like the sheer/medium coverage, and the partles are so fine and go on the face so smoothly, especially with my kabuki brush. The packaging is very simple and screams luxury. It was wonderful. However, it breaks me out in cystic acne every time I use it. I ordered it online from saks and used it for 3 days to see how it would react with my oily but not really acne prone skin. omg 2 big, painful pimples on my chin. I tried to deny that they appeared because of this beautiful foundation, so I waited 2 weeks and tried again. ::tear:: more big, red pimples. Round 3 was also a fail, and I am left with a very unused, very expensive powder foundation :(
