Toners -Sana - Uroitaishi, The Moisture Ambassador! Moisture Mist
blueelf 12/23/2011 11:55:00 PM
This mist is one of the most hydrating mists I've ever tried! I've gone overboard before with 3 sprays on my face after my makeup is done, and that can make my face look shiny while it looked powdery before. Not for those with oily skin. For someone like myself with dry skin though it is a godsend as it imparts a dewy look as long as you do not over do the sprays. I use 2 sprays max, one on each side of the face. Any more than that and I start looking greasy (depending on what foundation I have on too). Just reordered another because it is just that good for my dry skin in this winter weather.

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - full-finish lipstick lady's choice
blueelf 6/27/2009 10:15:00 PM
Was pleasantly surprised by the texture and pigmentation of Benefit's lipsticks. The texture goes on smoothly and leaves a creamy feel, while the colour shows up fine on my lips which are quite pigmented already. Lady's Choice is a very wearable warm rose-brown that looks like a dupe of MAC's Mattene in Flattering (LE 2007). Flattering is of course matte though while Lady's Choice gives a nice creamy finish. One of these days if I have time I might update this review with a comparison pic :) If you want to buy this product I'd recommend getting it in the Girls' Night In set @ Sephora, which is on sale right now.

Mascara -Guerlain - Le2 Waterproof in Bleu Cruise
blueelf 5/17/2009 3:20:00 AM
I almost never buy expensive mascaras, but bought this because I tried it in my makeover and it looked gorgeous!
Pros:
- blue actually shows up on lashes! most coloured mascaras don't show up on my dark lashes.
- it really lengthens and volumizes (for ref., asian lashes)
- keeps my curl, doesn't weigh it down (I do use a curler beforehand as always)
- waterproof, and probably oil proof too (see con#1)
- love the 2 brush design, smaller brush allows you to get lower lashes and corner of top lashes
Cons:
- too waterproof, I have problems fully removing it even with bi-facil, have to use lots of q-tips. I can't remove it with DHC cleansing oil either.
- It smudges a little if applied on lower lashes, but only after a full day of wear so maybe that isn't so bad.
- expensive for a product that should be replaced every 3-6 months
Overall:
Love the product, though I wish it was cheaper, and wish it was more easily removable with bi-facil. But still performs better than many drugstore / HE mascaras.

Eyeliner -Guerlain - Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl in Lagon Bleu
blueelf 5/17/2009 3:12:00 AM
I was drawn to this product because of the bright blue colour in the container. As with other kohls it requires a bit of a learning curve to learn how to apply properly, but putting that aside here's what I think about this version Pros: - colour is beautiful, but...see con #1 - did not irritate my eyes (I wear contacts) - lovely bronze packaging, prefer this over the gold of the regular shades. Cons: - colour is NOT what you see in the tube. The powder looks like a baby blue but once applied on my eye it shows up more like a teal-ish aqua. - staying power sucks! It was gorgeous freshly applied but started wearing off my waterline after 2-3 hours. After 3 hours it started to smudge below my lashline as well :/ Overall - I was super excited when I first bought this, but now I'm regretting it because the staying power sucks and the colour wasn't what I would've expected from the colour in the tube. Will update this review later when I get good before and after pics.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush in Whipped Strawberries [DISCONTINUED]
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:55:00 PM
My favourite blush. Looks like a very scary pink in the jar, I wouldn't have considered buying this if not for the good reviews on MUA. When applied sparingly with fingers gives a cute, subtle, pink glow to cheeks. I also appreciate that its completely matte (shimmer free), good for photos. It looks really nice when used on the eyes as a pink eyeshadow too, especially when I paired it with some gold shadow as a liner and highlighted the brow with a champagne shimmery shadow. Would definitely repurchase although I don't think I will run out of it for a long while since a little goes a long way. Wish the packaging wasn't glass though...a bit heavy to lug around, and dangerous if dropped.

Eye Shadow -Almay - Intense i-Colour - Play up the Brown
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:43:00 PM
I love this palette. I was afraid it wouldn't work well on me because my eyes are a very dark brown as I'm asian, however it still plays up the brown nicely. Works well with the matching amethyst mascara too although they could improve the brush design for the mascara. Love the concept of eyecolours targeted to specific eyecolours :) Its foolproof and especially convenient if I was in a rush and had no time to think about what eyecolours sto use

Mascara -Almay - intense i-color volumizing mascara - purple amethyst
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:37:00 PM
I bought this on a whim since I already own the Play up the brown eyeshadow palette, and I wanted a change from black/brown mascara. As other reviewers have noted, the colour does not show up much on the lashes at all. However I think it still does play up my brown asian eye colour nicely with the very very subtle purple colour. I do wish the colour was more intense....oh well. The brush too is quite bad...the bristles are spaced quite far apart so it causes clumps on the lashes...and my lash comb doesn't do much to remove them. I am considering buying Covergirl's Lash Exact mascara just for the brush to use with this mascara. Overall it works well to play up the brown but if you want something really purple, or if you hate the hassle of combing though lashes to remove clumps then look for another mascara.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:31:00 PM
The brush in this product is awesome. I got the product in brownish black and it shows up as a really natural black (I have asian hair and eyes). The brush is the key to this mascara....it coats each lash nicely and separates the lashes simultaneously. I own Almay's purple amethyst mascara and the brush really sucks so I'm seriously considering buying another lash exact mascara just to use the brush for the other product. Also I got the non-waterproof version, but it does't run or smudge at all unless I actually rub my eye. It does an acceptable job of holding a curl too when I curl my lashes. My HG mascara. Now if only it came in other colours like purple....

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - expertwear eyeshadow in night sky
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:25:00 PM
I usually like Maybelline expertwear eyeshadows, so I purchased this since I was looking for a black shadow that could be used as a liner. However I was disappointed with this product. The colour was too light (not intense enough), even when I tried to layer the colour. Also it smudged like crazy during application with the sponge and fingers. Perhaps a brush would have worked better, but I doubt it. I tried using an angle brush to apply it as a liner and could hardly get much product onto the brush. Also whatever I put on my eye smudged and did not stay put at all. Don't buy this eyeshadow if you want a nice black shadow....

Palettes -LORAC - Greatest Hits CD 2
blueelf 5/11/2007 11:19:00 PM
The colours are flattering and complement each other nicely on my light asian skintone. However, the eye colours weren't as pigmented as I would like. I would probably have to layer them on to get the colour to be more intense. The light eye shades in the palette have a nice subtle shimmer to them. The blush is nicely pigmented and can probably be used on the eyes too. Unfortunately, the lip gloss has virtually no colour, just some shine. I still really like this product though because of the variety of eye colours, and it saves me from having to worry about getting separate eyecolours that don't match.

Lip Gloss -The Body Shop - Mango Peach Lip Balm
blueelf 5/28/2006 12:19:00 PM
I love mango smells, so I had to buy this when I saw it. It moisturizes well and the texture is just right. Even though its a balm, it has a glossy effect on my lips which I love. I really wish they would make it in a stick form for hygiene reasons. I always avoid body lotions/creams of this scent and just stick to the lip balm or at the most, shower gel, because I don't like smelling fruity all over.

Lip Gloss -The Body Shop - Cranberry Lip Balm

Love the smell and texture, glitter is hardly noticeable. Expensive for a lipbalm though. I wish they made this in stick form too so that it would be more hygienic to apply.

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Oceanus Line
blueelf 5/28/2006 12:10:00 PM
I've tried the lotion, shower gel, body spray, and bar soap and they're all not bad. The scent is a good gift for someone who isn't into feminine/floral scents because its more of a clean, fresh smell.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Sweet Pea body Lotion
blueelf 5/28/2006 12:01:00 PM
It has a nice feminine scent but does smell really sweet and a bit strong. I use it only if i'm in the mood for something intense. too much for an everyday scent though.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Body Cream - Night Blooming Jasmine
blueelf 5/28/2006 11:52:00 AM
I just got this scent at a BBW outlet for half price, but I didn't know it was discontinued in the regular stores otherwise I would have bought more...it smells so good! I find that this scent is mildly floral, not overpowering, and has this alluring quality to it. The only thing is that the bottle I got has a slightly defective click top (doesn't open fully unless I pull it open with a fingernail) but it doesn't change the fact that the scent is awesome. For anyone who wants to get their hands on them, I found mine at the BBW outlet in Birch Run, MI. They were selling this lotion and Plumeria lotion for half price. I think they also had the shower gels too
