Start is juicy fruit (apple and/or cherry), wetness (like a grey day), and plush softness at the same time…I definitely get the suede note. Juicy fruit plus suede make for an unusually compelling start. Also a bit of powdered sugar which I think I could do without…..a bit of Lutens Rahat Loukoum territory. Quickly gets softer and less juicy, and less interesting. Middle and drydown - soft suede and quite subtle…too subtle. Disappointing given the exciting start.

Sweet resin/incense, honey, woods – smooth and soothing. Almost fruity and chewy, but not gourmand. Middle starts getting fizzy (like gingerale or champagne) and fuzzy – impression is of a peachy honey glow but still woody. Far drydown – still sweet resin, and now some vanilla. Gorgeous! Good lasting power.

Sweet, creamy, fruity, cheap vanilla. Fruit loops. Ick. Too synthetic smelling. Smells like a Comptoir Sud Pacifique scent.

Fragrances -Etat Libre D'Orange - Like This

Start is creamy spiced musk. Soft and cuddly, but not too dense and sweet. Woods and cream. Character similar to Lutens Douce Amere (yes, I agree w/ Bois de Jasmin on that one). After about 10 minutes I smell anis (must be the fenugreek) – again a Douce Amere tie-in. Then the sandalwood comes in. I can smell the pumpkin accord after about 1 hour. I never smell the citrus. After about 1.5 hours, all I smell is the fenugreek. It’s very persistent, and I get bored of it….I would not wear this as the fenugreek drydown gets annoying. 3/5 (would be higher with a better drydown)

Plush powdery iris start. Within 5 minutes, iris dryer sheet. Functional product smelling. Dire drydown – just dryer sheet. Annoying to wear.

Very nice and wearable fruity woody oriental, warm yet fresh (not fresh as in ozonic/aquatic). Sheer but not light. Drydown is less fruity, more dry woody amber. Good fragrance, I would wear it, but didn’t knock my socks off. Start is similar to Hillary Duff With Love but no patchouli, drydown is similar to Ambre Narguile (that sheer amber thing).

Lovely and very wearable floral oriental. Soft sweet bright fruity rose to start, with a vanilla and clean woods dry down, no spices. Long lasting. One word to describe this would be Charming.

The dreaded generic men’s cologne, woody/fresh. Doesn’t even smell good.

80’s style in-your-face floral. Aldehydes, smoke, tobacco, dust, and green floral start, the brief must have asked for “sexy”, maybe with a reference to Habanita. Not candy sweet, but sweet in the manner of a stale cigarette stub mushed into an ash tray into which part of a sweet cocktail has spilled…………. Angela’s review on NST says the heater turning on for the first time that year – that kind of burning dust smell – yes! – plus toast with jam – OK maybe. Drydown is less sweet and more woody animalic. I give it props for originality, but I don’t find the smell very pleasant or wearable as a perfume. Also, it smells dated.

Smells like warm vomit – you overindulged in chocolate ice-cream, cherries and fruit syrup, then threw up all over yourself. Sister of gucci rush – that overripe fruit and milk thing. Putrid but not boring.

Excellent men’s fragrance, but not so masculine that a woman would feel weird wearing it. Brief citrus start, then leather and wood with birch tar, but not too dark or bitter, no turpentine smell. Warm, sophisticated, snuggly. Really excellent! Note – Luca Turin compares it to Guerlain Derby.

Algae, stagnant water, seaweed. Really gross as a personal fragrance - unwearable. Salty, “fresh”, and plant-like. Will give it a few points for originality and brave weirdness.

Skanked up sister of Chanel No 5. Nose hair burning. Would never wear. Well, at least it's not boring.

Fragrances -Bulgari - au the Rouge _Red Tea_
rated 4 of 5

This has a red bean asian dessert vibe – red bean, tea, and milk but not rich creamy milk, more like a white jelly-like dessert that you see in the buffet in a cheap sushi all-you can eat restaurant that you think is going to be incredibly yummy and rich and creamy, but it turns out to have the consistency of jelly and tastes like it was made from skim milk. This is not bad scent-wise – in fact it is very evocative. I like this a lot and actually would rate it 4.5/5 if I could.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Eau d Italie Bois d Ombre
rated 4 of 5

So far I am very impressed with this line, they are all interesting. Oops, looks like I made a good start and mispelled the name - is it Bois d’Ombrie. First impression – L'Artisan's Tea for Two with leather. This is really good, but a tad too salty for me and the lasting powder is just OK (very faint after 4 hours). A unique and interesting fragrance, it really does smell a bit like blood as I heard it described in a store, but it’s not gross, it just has that same bit of acidy brown saltiness as the smell of fresh blood. It’s quite masculine. Good for the brawny hunter type. From the Aedes website - "A journey into the Umbrian countryside, Bois d'Ombrie combines dark woods and tanned leather into a warm and radiant blend. The intoxicating top notes of cognac and whisky contrast with the chilly haze of iris. Wrapped into the dryness of leather, the heart of Bois d'Ombrie rests upon a gilded base of myrrh, tobacco and vetiver. A delicate hint of balsamic bitterness lends an unconventional counterpoint to the sweet notes, resulting in a complex and rich composition."
