Hair Styling Tools -Sonia Kashuk - Bristle Hair Brush
blooicee 7/10/2011 4:10:00 PM
I really wanted to like this brush. When I first purchased it, I realized it would take some work to comb through my long, thick hair. Because the synthetic(?) boar bristles are short, I would have to use force and push the brush through my hair to detangle most of my thick hair. That, and I would have to brush through my hair many times because it would only brush through a little of my hair at a time. But because the results were nice, I kept on using the brush. 3-4 weeks later, the bristles started being bent, and there was a lot of build up in the brush. Deciding to give the brush a second chance, I re-purchased the brush, making sure I would clean up the build up every time after I used it. But 2 weeks later, the red part started crumbling off and falling apart, and the bristles started being bent. I'm sure this brush works for someone with fine hair, but sadly, it didn't work for me.
Eye Makeup Remover -Rimmel - Gentle Eye Make Up Remover

This remover is very gentle for me...in fact, it's too gentle. It doesn't remove mascara too well, and I feel like it would have to work in conjunction with an oil to be completely effective. However, the reason why I like this remover so much is because it is absolutely amazing for touch ups or just to fix any mistakes I may have made while applying my make up (i.e. liquid liner). Also, the opening is perfect for q-tips, and the formula isn't oily at all/doesn't leave a film, so it works perfectly for touchups/fixing mistakes. Would repurchase!
Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover

This remover is highly effective in removing makeup, and removes any traces of mascara that jojoba oil may have left behind (it works well on waterproof mascara as well, even the troublesome LashBlast). It never stings my eyes, and feels gentle on my skin (some removers burn). However, it is slightly oily, and leaves a film, but I always wash my face after using this remover anyway. For the price, this is definitely worth it. Would definitely repurchase!
Pressed Powders -Chanel - Poudre Universelle Compacte
blooicee 3/31/2010 3:01:00 AM
HG powder. Even if the foundation I'm using doesn't match my face perfectly, this powder will help it settle and match my skintone (I'm NC20, and use this powder in translucent 1 clair 20). It also has pretty good oil control, and won't accentuate any dryness my face might have. However, it does look powdery when first applied (I use a kabuki brush to apply it), so I always use a spray after I'm done applying it. After the spray, my skin looks pretty glowy and the powdery look is completely gone. Would definitely repurchase.
Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)

I have this in translucent, and while it doesn't affect the way my foundation looks, and lets my foundation settle quite nicely, I feel like it's too dry for my cheeks. It definitely accentuates any dryness, and doesn't control oil too well (I would still have to blot throughout the day). So I would not repurchase.
I absolutely hated the smell when I first used it (it has a VERY strong, cloying, artificial smell), but after a few uses I got used to it and now it doesn't smell like much to me. It is very moisturizing, and unlike the original Burt's Bees (the minty one), this one doesn't just sit on top of my lips. I feel like it actually gets absorbed and it softens my lips quite nicely as well. Would repurchase.
While I do like the color (a light to medium, slightly blue based pink), I absolutely hate the glitter. It's a silver glitter that's gritty and just gets messy on the lips. This color also doesn't have the nice, moisturizing, smoothness of other BB lip shimmers. Would not repurchase.
This is a nice, moisturizing lip tint with a slightly minty flavor/feel. I like how there's no shimmer, and it's a really nice mauvey pink that's really flattering for me (NC20). It also looks very natural, even though it's quite pigmented. Would definitely repurchase.
I actually don't think this moisturizes too well. It just settles on top of my lips, so it doesn't feel like it penetrates my lips to really moisturize them. However, it doesn't make my lips rebound either, so I don't think it would cause your lips to become dependent on it.
Gave me giant, painful, cystic acne on my chin (and I never get cystic acne, just the occasional small hormonal pimples) that took about a month to heal. It might have looked nice that day, but it definitely was not worth it. Would never repurchase.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula

Accentuated the dryness of my cheeks (combination skin). Even though it wore well throughout the day, and did not oxidize, I would not repurchase again.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Original Glo Formula
blooicee 3/31/2010 2:41:00 AM
I bought the sample of this. It was way too dry for my combination skin, accentuated the dryness of my cheeks too much. Also, I felt like it made my T-zone look more oily (which didn't happen with the matte formula). It did, however, last throughout the day and didn't oxidize. But I would not repurchase.
I was expecting this to have a more brightening effect, but the sparkles don't achieve that for me. I do see the sparkles in the bottle, but I don't see it on my face (perhaps it's the powder I use?). It does hold up quite nicely on my combination skin. However, it accentuates and uncovers usually nonexistent dry patches on my cheeks, which is quite aggravating. I got this in Shell (NC20) and the shade looks a little too yellow on me...but I think otherwise it matches quite well. Would not repurchase (especially given the price, it's quite expensive for a ds foundation without a sale).
I always layer this mascara over the L'oreal Telescopic one (since I don't think it would hold a curl well at all), but this fives a dramatic look. Lengthens a bit, thickens very well, and looks quite black. However, it does clump a bit (fixable with a lash comb), and slightly flakes when it gets old. But I might repurchase it if it's bogo and I purchase Telescopic.
Mascara -Cover Girl - Fantastic Lash [DISCONTINUED]
blooicee 3/31/2010 2:29:00 AM
This was one of the first mascaras I liked. It does give my lashes a nice fanned look, and lengthens and thickens quite well. It also holds a curl quite nicely too. However, I don't think that it's black enough, and looks dry on my lashes. I wouldn't repurchase again, but if you don't mind the color (I like sleek, very black looking lashes), I would recommend it.
