Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Grandpa's - Chamomile Soap with Oat Beta-Glucan
rated 5 of 5

I have tried all of the Grandpa's soaps, and love them all. For some reason, my skin responds to oats very well, so the Grandpa's Oatmeal soap and this one are my favorites. This one seems more soothing and moisturizing than the oatmeal one, though the oatmeal one feels like it deep-cleans a little better. They both clean my stubborn (Colorstay) makeup off excellently without stripping my face. The ingredients are natural and wonderful, and they don't irritate my reactive, acne-prone skin. I never liked bar soaps for facial cleansing until Grandpa's.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Power Volume 24H (waterproof)
rated 1 of 5

Ugh. What a waste of money. The only good thing I can say about this is that it separates your lashes. Other than that, it does nothing. If you want to darken your lashes and look like you're not wearing anything, you can use this. Otherwise, it's useless.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Grandpa's Old Fashioned Oatmeal Soap
rated 5 of 5

I love this soap! It's dirt cheap, great at removing my makeup, it's gentle, and leaves me feeling squeaky clean without being dry. I have never broken out because of it. I hate bar soaps, because of their inconvenience, so I gave a lousy packaging rating. I just ordered one of each of the Grandpa's soaps. :)

Scrubs -Tree Hut - Tree Hut Brazilian Nut Sugar Scrub
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/11/2010 10:33:00 PM

This stuff is great for the price! It scrubs nicely, smells heavenly, and it only $5! It's not oily/moisturizing enough, so I think I may add extra oil to it, but what do you want for $5? LOOOOOVE the smell.

Fragrances -CB I Hate Perfume - M#3 November
rated 2 of 5
blackviolet 10/11/2010 8:45:00 PM

I wanted to love this. I kinda like it, but the hint of pine forest kills it for me. Maybe a tad too much moss as well. Gives it a sharp, almost ozoney scent, when I was looking for leaves and sweets and a hint of smoke. I can detect the apple undertone (but no smoke), and if not for the sharp scent (which I keep hoping will fade!), I think I'd really like this. Bummer.

Fragrances -CB I Hate Perfume - Gathering Apples
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/11/2010 8:38:00 PM

I got the little sample size. Oh my god, I think I just found the PERFECT apple scent (and I've tried a LOT of them!). There's an apple orchard we go to every Fall and get the best (fresh!) apple cider I've ever tasted. You can go and pick up the apples off of the ground, and use their 200 year old apple press made out of a tree stump to press your own cider, and it's so richly fragrant and juicy and not like apple juice. Apple juice is made from apples picked off of the tree. Cider is made from the apples on the ground. Gathering Apples smells EXACTLY like it. I'm not sure how to describe the scent to someone who has never had real apple cider. It's sweet and definitely apples, but not spiced cider (no spices here), and not super sweet and juicy like apple juice. It's a richer apple, with a hint of wood, like the stem of the apple, or like smelling cider in a wooden bucket. It's not super strong, but it's not too faint either. It's just perfect and amazing, though it fades too quickly for my taste. There is no perfumey or cologney scent (I hate that!), and it's not super sweet, and definitely not foody. If you ever wanted to wear an apple scent, this is it.

Candles -Yankee Candles - Banana Nut Bread
rated 2 of 5
blackviolet 10/2/2010 2:27:00 AM

THIS IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SCENT! As much as I may also like other fragrances, this one outshines them all so much that I don't ever want to spend my money on another candle again. This is coming from a girl that doesn't even like bananas! The scent fills the entire house and it smells like you're baking pastries. Amazing. EDIT: They JUST brought this back from being discontinued, and it's not the same at all! It's a decent scent, but is weird and clovey and nothing like it used to be. :( I dropped this from 5 stars to two stars. I wouldn't buy it again now.

Hair -Skindecent - Mane Attraction
rated 2 of 5
blackviolet 10/1/2010 8:40:00 PM

I usually LOVE Skindecent, but this was a total miss for me. I got it in Fresh Waffle Cone (one of my favorites), and not only does it smell funky, but it makes my hair feel gross and dirty an hour or two after I use it. :(

Fragrances -Skindecent - Scents
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/1/2010 8:33:00 PM

She has my two favorite scents ever - Pumpkin Crunch Cake and Fresh Waffle Cone. Even better when worn together! ;) I haven't strayed very far from these scents, but her other pumpkin ones are usually good too - much better than anything you'll find anywhere else (trust me, I've tried a million!). In the summertime, I love Bubblegum and one I had (I forgot the name) that smelled like Hawaiian Punch. I tried her apple pie a few years ago, and it was a miss. The Apple Barrel Cider was unique and very realistic! It smelled like apples and mulling spices, not like fake apple cider. If you can't tell, I mostly love the Fall and Bakery scents, haha. I've got some new ones coming in soon, and I'll update when I get them! These are all a good deal - except the shipping prices and time are terrible! I only order if I'm ordering a LOT, or if another friend is splitting the order/shipping with me.

Fragrances -Skindecent - Dry Oil Spray
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/1/2010 8:26:00 PM

I love this stuff. My two all time favorite scents of anything EVER are Pumpkin Crunch Cake and Fresh Waffle Cone. I love mixing the two scents. Hell, the Waffle Cone can turn anything into a bakery scent. ;) The bottle leaks, so I hate that. The scent lasts forever, but be careful not to spray it on your clothes (unless you wear black), or you'll get an oil stain. :(

Cleansers -First Aid Beauty - Face Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 8/18/2010 1:06:00 PM

Love this cleanser. I was iffy about trying it, because cream cleansers don't usually work well for me. They don't seem to remove my makeup very well, or leave me feeling clean. This does both. It removes my makeup residue and cleans my face really well. It leaves me feeling clean but soft, and not with a weird residue like some creamy cleansers leave. It doesn't leave me feeling dry and tight like most of my cleansers. It makes my skin feel soothed. Love!

Moisturizers -First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Cream
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 8/18/2010 1:02:00 PM

This is so nice. It's thick and rich, but soaks in nicely, it doesn't feel heavy or leave a residue, and doesn't make me feel greasy. It's a good deal for a HUGE jar that will last forever! I use it on face, neck and chest, and have had no breakouts. This was my favorite night cream until I bought the Eclos Regenerative Cream yesterday. I think that is now my new favorite, though only time will tell. Hope it doesn't break me out! I'll be posting a review for it in a week or two, but I can tell you now that I already bought another jar for my mom.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in #1 NUDE
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 4/22/2010 4:31:00 PM

LOVE LOVE LOVE. First, the Colorstay Nude lipliner is one of my favorite lipliners (except I wish it wasn't quite so dry). If applied lightly, it's just about the perfect color for me. The lipstick in the same shade is a tad dark, but i usually use a little less, and rub it in with my finger for a thinner application. It seems a little more emollient and less quick-setting than others like it. It doesn't feel as dry after it... dries. Haha. It also doesn't seep into my lip creases and make weird lines like some other products do. I haven't worn this alone, so I can't comment on that, and I don't plan to. Like I said, it's a little dark, so I wear a light lip gloss over it and wow. This stuff lasts all day, and even makes my lip gloss last a lot longer! I only have to reapply lip gloss a couple times a day. The color does tend to wear off just a tad, and get a little lighter, but it doesn't chip or flake or get nasty. It just lightens up. And how can I expect it not to wear off a little when I've got lip gloss all over it all day? I love how lip gloss looks, but can never wear it to work, because I just don't have the time to reapply it often enough, and my lips look terrible with nothing on them. Now I'll finally be able to wear lip gloss! Anyway, I've tried a bunch of the other "lasting" lipsticks, and this is the only one that's been a hit with me. I will definitely be stocking up.

Primer/ Corrector -Laura Geller - Spackle in Champagne
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/21/2009 4:16:00 AM

I love the regular Spackle. Like I said, it's not quite the same as most primers. It's not super slick (for a softer, smoother one, I prefer Serious Skincare's Vit A primer), it's actually a little tacky. But it seems to "grab" your makeup, and make it easier to layer, keeps it out of your lines, and makes it last longer. This one is just like the regular Spackle, except that it's very lightly tinted and sparkly. I'm not sure what the point is, since it's not a bronzer. Maybe to look nice if you don't wear makeup? But who buys a primer if they don't wear makeup? The tint doesn't show up on your face at all, but the sparkles do. If you scarcely wear makeup, it might be kinda pretty. It seemed to make my face look "freshly scrubbed," kinda shiny and summery, I suppose. However, I DO wear makeup, and you can't see the sparkles through it. It's just the same as the regular spackle. The price and the packaging are the other reasons I love Spackle. You get twice as much for LESS than other primers (like Smashbox). I love the airless pump - you get all but a tiny drop out of the bottle without having to open it.

Fragrances -Skindecent - Fresh Waffle Cone Dry Oil Spry
rated 5 of 5
blackviolet 10/14/2009 12:26:00 PM

If you love the scent of baked goods, this is for you! It smells a little sweet and buttery, with maybe a slight touch of caramelized vanilla, and it just smells like freshly baked pastries. I love to layer this with other scents (like pumpkin). Delicious! It adds that warm, "freshly baked scent". This dry oil spray lasts forever on you. Even when you don't realize that you smell anymore, people will tell you you do. The problem is, this is for your skin, not your clothes (unless they're black). Be careful, you might get an oil stain on your clothes. You can spray some of this on bare skin, then layer with the body mist on your clothes, if you want a more intense and lasting scent. I like to put it on before work, and keep a little roll-on of the scent in my pocket for touching up my pulse points.
