Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
bkdean 5/3/2011 11:00:00 PM
I have had this for a while but I don't wear it everyday. I decided to wear it on Easter, and one of the girls in my class (she is 8) looked at me and said "Are you wearing false eyelashes?" I said "No, it's just mascara" but I thought, "Wow, this mascara really lives up to its' name!" It can get clumpy if you use too much, but it comes off pretty good for me with waterproof eye makeup remover.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - 14 day Nail Shield
bkdean 4/12/2010 6:21:00 PM
I got these because nail polish does not last one day on me, and so far they last better than any nail polish I have tried. I just put them on Saturday night and so it's only been a couple of days, but if I had used nail polish I would already have several chips by now. I haven't tried removing them; going to try to leave them on for the 14 days and see how they look. If I get the chance I will update this review after that...

Blush -Cover Girl - TruBlend Naturally Luminous Blush in Pure Romance
bkdean 1/30/2008 4:32:00 PM
I got this to try because it had minerals, but I think it's way too shimmery. Looks fine in the bathroom mirror, but out in the sunlight it is so unnnatural looking. I did not realize it until I saw it on my sister in law. I thought, "Is that what I look like out in the sun?" If you want it to look like fine glitter all over your face, this is the thing. I was looking for something a little more natural looking. It works better for me on my legs than on my face. I like shimmery legs, it makes them look better in my opinion. But people aren't focused on your legs like they are on your face when you're having a conversation with them. Also the powder puff is useless, I use a brush to apply.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
bkdean 1/26/2008 12:13:00 PM
This really does make my lashes longer and fuller! I love the way it looks. I have to remove it with a dual phase remover like Neutrogena, otherwise it really gets flaky and bothers my eyes. But during the day it looks and feels great, and I just remove it before bed and everything is fine. I tried the Lash Exact and it was nowhere near this, it was just your basic cheap mascara. This one is definitely the best I have ever used! I have a pic of me in this mascara on my profile.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Maxius - Flat Iron with Ceramic Plates
bkdean 12/29/2007 5:04:00 PM
I have loved this since I got it two years ago, but now it is giving me problems. Probably because I use it so much, I have worn it out, but it does a great job of straightening my frizzy hair. I love the straightening pins because I am always looking for shortcuts and this helps me not to have to comb through it a lot before I straighten. The one I have is now only heating up on the pins side and not on the smooth side, but I am still using it until I can get something new, it just takes longer and doesn't get as straight as it used to. I am going to try the Sedu next just because it's on sale and the reviews are so good, but if it is not good I will definitely return to Maxiglide. When I first used it I got so many people commenting on how great my hair looked; people think you have perfect hair when you use this when I definitely do not have perfect hair!!! It's a good flat iron for the price, I paid $64 for mine at Bed Bath & Beyond but they don't carry it anymore; you can still get it at Linens N Things for the same price ($80 minus 20% with the coupon). My husband went looking for one for me for Christmas and he went to Sally's and the salesperson said she has one and loves it, but they don't sell them there. EDIT: I got the Sedu and it is nowhere near as good as my MaxiGlide was! The Sedu is definitely more compact and would be good to take on trips, it does straighten but takes longer and doesn't look as natural. I WILL be getting another MaxiGlide asap!!!

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Winter Candy Apple Anti-Bacterial Hand Lotion
bkdean 4/27/2007 11:59:00 AM
I got this as a gift for Christmas, and I like it a lot. Problem is my husband thinks it smells like insect repellent and it makes my cat run away whenever I use it. The ingredients list citronellol, which is probably what my husband is picking up on, but I personally really like it! I like the smell and it makes my hands feel good. But if you are sensitive to strong smells, you probably won't like it.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions At Home MicroDermabrasion System [DISCONTINUED]
bkdean 2/28/2006 1:51:00 PM
I wanted this for a long time before I got it because of the price, I thought that $30 was too much to explain to my DH! But, when the end of the year came and we had money leftover in our flexible spending account, I found out that skincare products qualify as medical products, so I got a kit to try. I followed the directions, using it a week and stopping the second week for skin to adjust, and the second week I did have breakouts, but I tend to have breakouts around my chin occasionally, so it didn't make me want to stop using it. I like the way it makes my skin feel, I guess I have been using it for about 4 weeks now, and am hoping for more evening out of sun spots I have. It is very good, though, seeing as how I can't afford professional treatments. I need to get a before and after pic posted, I will try to do that soon! Brenda

Scrubs -Totally Juicy - Berry Creamy Scrub
bkdean 2/12/2004 11:53:00 PM
My bargain-shopping husband first made me up a beauty products gift basket for my birthday, and this product was in it. I have not been successful in finding a facial cleanser that I like enought to keep using, but this one is great! I told him, "I love this, get me some more if you can!" So since then he has bought me about 5 tubes of it. I use it in the shower and just rinse until I feel smooth; it does take a bit of rinsing to get it all off, but that is no problem when I'm in the shower. It has a great scent and texture and now that my husband knows that I like it and it is inexpensive, I am sure he will keep bringing it home to me!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
bkdean 8/11/2003 12:12:00 AM
I have not used any other mascaras since I tried this one. It is very good. I used to use another one similar but they quit making it. I will probably use this one until they stop making it.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Invisible Blemish Treatment
bkdean 8/11/2003 12:02:00 AM
I have been using this for years. I definitely think the salicylic acid acne treatments work best. The only problem is, my husband always steals it! Whenever I need some, it never fails that I find it in his bathroom!! I guess he needs it more than me, lol! We both really like it.

Self Tanners -Bath and Body Works - Self-Tan Moisturizing Cream Gel
bkdean 8/10/2003 11:57:00 PM
I liked this okay. It was the first self-tanner I have used in a long time. It gave a pretty good color, but I looked too dark around the knees and feet, I probably could apply it better with some practice. The scent (tangerine) was great; however, after it dried it seemed to give off a little of that 'self-tanner smell'. Also you can't tell if you missed a spot until it dries. I got it for 75% off, so it was a good deal and I will probably try some other brands before I decide if I will use this again or not.

Shampoo -Garnier - Fructis Fortifying Shampoo
bkdean 8/10/2003 11:48:00 PM
I use their haircolor, so I thought I would try this shampoo and conditioner. I tried it and liked it a lot. The smell is great, and it makes my hair feel really soft. I don't know if the 5x claims are accurate, but I do like it a lot. Since then, I discovered the Suave version (Fruit Energy), and I like it just as well if not better. Better because of the lower price, slightly larger bottles, and easier to open. I agree that the Fructis bottles are a little hard to open when you are wet and soapy. I'll be using the Suave version, but if you prefer the name brand, then Garnier Fructis is a great shampoo!

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Purely Silk body lotion (any scent)
bkdean 8/2/2003 1:05:00 AM
I received this as a gift, along with some spray that I returned because I don't use sprays, but I thought I would like the lotion. First of all, the pump packaging is terrible, it takes forever to get a decent amount of lotion out of the thing, I prefer something I can squeeze. Second, I have had the flaking problem from the beginning. At first I thought it was because I had just gotten out of the shower. So I tried it again when I was completely dry, but the same thing happened. It just flakes off. It does smell good (I got orange blossom), and my skin does feel soft after I rub the flakiness off. I won't buy it though. Also when I returned the spray, this stuff was on the 75% off table, it's no wonder with these results.

Hair -Aussie - Gloss
bkdean 8/2/2003 12:28:00 AM
I love this! I can only find it at Eckerd's, but that's no problem. This makes my hair shiny and really de-frizzes it very well. I remember one time I ran out of it, and couldn't find any. Then when I found some and started using it again, my friend swore that I got highlights, my hair looked so shiny, but it was just the gloss! You don't need much of it, too much will make your hair look oily. Just put a couple of drops on your palms, rub together, and smooth through your hair. Then style and voila! Also, this contains no alcohol; so many of these type of products are full of alcohol which is not good. This is the best and I will always use it as long as they make it! EDIT--Eckerd's doesn't have this anymore, where can I get it???

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color
bkdean 8/2/2003 12:11:00 AM
I really love this! I started using it after I highlighted my hair and decided I didn't like the way it looked, so I wanted to color it to a more normal looking color. I bought some brand I don't remember now, but when I read their instructions it said not to use on highlighted hair. I called their help line, and they said I shouldn't use their color until the highlight GREW OUT! How long would that take, probably years!!! So then I did some research on the internet and decided to call Garnier. I told them the same thing, that I wanted to color over hair that had been previously highlighted, and they told me how to do it. They told me which shades to buy and how to mix it to cover the highlights, and then after the first coloring I could just color regularly the next time. It worked so great! And I just love the conditioner that comes with the kit; I want to know if you can get that by itself for in between colorings, it smells great and leaves my hair so soft. Also I love the gloves that come with this, I think they are like powdered latex, not the cheap unstretchable plastic that some provide. I have a dark blonde/almost brown natural hair color with minimal grays, and I use the Ginger Ale/Light Ash Blonde shade. It comes out a just right and is not very noticeable when it starts to grow out. I tried the Sugar Cane one time, and it looked fine, but I think the ash blonde shades are better for me personally. Just a great hair color and I am not ever changing again!
