Hair -Conair - CS54 Nano Tourmaline Ceramic Curler & Straightener AKA You Style Multi-Function Styler-Straightener
bigb00 1/9/2011 7:00:00 PM
This product is pretty good. I've reciently opened up to the conair infiniti line ( vs high end appliances ) and this product I would give an OK score to. I could make much nicer, curlier or beachy waves with a flatiron and not snag my hair or have to do it 2 or 3 times, but Some people can't so.. Thats why its ok. Heat isn't as High and I would like it, but is acceptable. The reason it's an ok product and why I'd buy it again is the price - for 30$ and a heat pouch/brush and the product I couldn't go wrong.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - i-series Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron
bigb00 12/30/2010 7:32:00 PM
So your going to think this is a joke. But this is actually one of the best flat irons I've used. I have used many flat irons mostly professional ones and when I got this for christmas I wasn't even going to try it and just return it. I always thought conair was a total joke when it came to any form of hair appliances, but when I read all the things on the box it "says" it does I thought, meh I could try it to give better justification to return it. ( Well. I won't be returning it. It is about 30$ canadian. And it does just as good of a job as any of my bizzillion other flat irons. It goes to 395f or 195c and makes my hair very straight and shiney. So really it comes down to if your rich and don't care about price then sure - go buy a ghd or chi every 6 months when they break because you dropped them or freyed the cord etc, but I will be replacing my cheapo Conair every 6 months for 30$ and not caring when I break it. My friends even commented on how shiney my hair was the other day and when I told her my new flat iron she just about fell down. She couldn't believe I was converted to the "walmart flat iron" but when I let her borrow it she was shocked too - She will be purchasing herself one for travel.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Cortex 1" Flat Iron (Tourmaline Ceramic Plate)
bigb00 9/1/2010
I am so sick and tired of purchasing 150$+ flat irons every 6-8 months because they drop or the cord snaps. My latest being the solia which pulled and snagged and made my hair look dull and fried after I spent 30+ minutes straightening it. I picked this bad boy up at my local winners because I was broke but needed a ok flat iron for a few months. total cost 39.99$. I LOVE IT. I've used many professional salon irons (chi, babyliss, solia, matrix, cricket, hot tools not to mention all the ones the hair salons use) AND "professional" drugstore irons (bedhead, remington, conair infiniti) This iron is up with the top professional Irons! I borrowed a coworkers ghd for a few days before I went and bought this one .. and i have to say - i like to cortex BETTER! why? well it has adjustable heat.. has all the same quality in the plates, made my hair look just as shiney and silky and .. well... is 1/10th of the price! I am so pleased with this flat iron I plan on buying it for my friends for gifts and bought another one for myself so I can alternate! sooo happy!.

Eye Shadow -Almay - Intense i-color Play Up Trio for Blues
bigb00 8/28/2010 11:54:00 PM
I have very blue eyes. And when a product came out and was supposed to make them look "like sooo amazing " I was too excited and grabbed it. Well To put it simply - I looked like I was out of the 70's. Blue Eyeshadow is not cool - and I looked like a fool. I was late for work because I had to wash my face ... it was that bad. I use the brown color until it was gone. Thats it. NOW that was a while ago and now they've made a new one with a Grey, Navy and pink. I think that MIGHT work.. if the navy isn't too blue.

Eye Shadow -Almay - Intense i-Color powder shadow Trio for Browns
bigb00 8/28/2010 11:49:00 PM
Bought this products as I heard they were Dupe's for MAC colors for a look Kristen Stewart had on in one of the twilight scenes ( in the classroom for anyone who cares ) And it did pretty good job I must say. I got the look I was going for without having to buy 3 seperate random colors - and the product itself did well. I like all the hypoallergic properties and the color lasts well. They are not that intense though - the pink is very light and the brown looks dark but only goes on and blends to a medium brown shadow. But thats what I wanted. :)

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush - All colors [DISCONTINUED]
bigb00 8/28/2010 11:39:00 PM
I don't use blush - I find it always looks cheesy and cakey no matter what type of brands I buy. Plus I wear heavy eye makeup and don't want to look like a drag queen. My mom bought this stuff and I of course had to try for research purposes, and I REALLY liked it. It's different then powder blushes because it's a... mousse (surprise! haha) I got it in the bright baby pink color as that is best for my skin color (vampire white ) and coworkers suddenly started commented on how I looked "good" or "nice". I think the mousse works best for me because I wear a foundation so my skin is very "dewy" so the 2 liquids blend into eachother making it look so natural - I am so glad I stumbled across this product! NOW to people who like the super thick, intense blush look - I can't see you liking this product as it's very light and blends too much to ever get that effect.

Hair Styling Tools -TiGi - Bed Head Hair Straightener (Blue)
bigb00 8/22/2010 8:06:00 PM
I bought this when my professional flatiron suddenly broke. I needed something to straighten my hair for a few weeks until I could get a professional one online. Well it did SUCH a good job, better then the one that broke! It made my hair very straight and so shiney and felt smooth. It's the 2 inch purple one, and did my hair in 10 minutes! I got a solia after this one and it sucked so I went back to the bedhead. Only using the solia a few times a week it broke! and I'm back to the 3+ year old bedhead going strong.. Drugstore gem! I plan on buying a ghd next month but won't throw this one out. It's a great backup!

Hair Styling Tools -TiGi - Bedhead Curling Irons
bigb00 8/22/2010 8:00:00 PM
I was in the market for a curling iron and didn't want to wait for a "professional" one to come from online - So I took a chance and got this at my local drugstore as I like Bedheads flatiron. It's amazing! heats up fast- has ions, tourmaline, high heat, fun colors etc. And is a fraction of the price as professional salon ones ( even online ). Can't complain at all. It even curled my hair AFTER i flatironed it a few hours earlier! love love love.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
bigb00 8/22/2010 7:46:00 PM
I used the original lash blast and HATED IT. Seemed like I was the only person who did, it made my lashes look so horrible. So You'd think i'd learn when I though of buying this last blast fusion? no. Well It did better then the original lash blash- but still made my lashes look very spaced out, thin and short. I usually use some form of Maybelline Volume Express (Lately the "falsies") -But even the oldest version does SO much better then lashblast. Sorry lashblast, you lose.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Ion Shine Instant Heat Hairsetter with Ceramic
bigb00 8/22/2010 7:42:00 PM
I have naturally wavy hair & i bought these to be a "nicer" thing to do to my hair instead of always flatironing or curling with high, high heats. Well These did NOTHING. They came out & put a few ripples in my hair but no curls and no waves. I though maybe my hair just doesn't work with the lower heat, so I gave them to my mom - who has Curly hair. She got the same result- They straightened her hair! made her have these weird little flip and the end of her hair and thats about it. Returned them to walmart - where they were 50$. Which i found to be very expensive for a conair product. The packaging and the fun things that came with it were nice.. But couldn't do the job.

Conditioner -TRESemme - Vitamin B12 & Gelatin Anti-Breakage
bigb00 8/8/2010 7:41:00 PM
I destroyed my hair a year ago. I had it bleached from black to blonde in 1 month. My hair is just recovering, is half the length it was and is dark again. I had to use expensive reconstructers and deep conditioners so i could just run a brush through my hair. Now my hair ( a year later ) is just considered slightly damaged So I was able to go back to a good drugstore brand shampoo/conditioner. This is the conditioner I use. It has a different texture to it then most other conditioners ( pantene, garnier etc ) I think it might be silicone? But it sure makes your hair feel like something else! I can never not use this conditioner - I sometimes mix it in with other super moisturizing conditioners. But It is my HG of drugstore conditioners. About 3 years ago - my mom got a horrible perm that made her hair break and fall out. The drugstore lady swore by this stuff, my mom was willing to buy the most expensive products they sold and she still suggested this stuff, and by the second bottle her hair had recovered!

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Spectro Jel 609
bigb00 8/8/2010 6:47:00 PM
I have only used this product for less then a week - but have already noticed my skin has a much different texture- soft! I never really had an acne problem, just the odd pimple every few weeks or at TOTM. I'd do the regular exfoliate, Astringent & moisturize routine. Well lately I've developed acne - in my 20's. I'm not sure why, but I thought I'd just need to step up my cleaning routine. I got the whole kit at walmart for $15.97 - The blemish prone cleanser, Blemish prone moisturizer and acne deep pore acne care cream. I love it. I think this product will take care of my problems :) As I said before I've only used this for a few days - but I'm already getting compliments on my skin, and I've noticed a huge difference too. It isn't a "Soap" it doesn't foam. You put this jel on your face, rub for 30 seconds and whipe off with a moist cloth! Then moisturize, then put the acne cream on. This has ALSO cut down a lot in my cleaning routine.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean Oil Control Pressed Powder
bigb00 8/8/2010 5:59:00 PM
I used the classic weird brown covergirl powder for years, Never looking for much other then a powder to set my foundation etc. Then I desided to experiment with different brands and other types of powders ... and ended up back at this product. It doesn't really cover anything, Its matte, and I get it in the lightest color so I don't worry about any orange tones. It does just what I need and respects my acne prone / oil prone skin. Cheapest pressed powder out there too.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Cuticle Massage Cream with Apricot Extract
bigb00 8/5/2010 11:57:00 PM
this is a HG product that I have bought many, many times and ALWAYS have. Anytime my nails feel dry or look bad I put this stuff on. It makes them shiney and gives them some "health" back.. makes my ugly cuticles and hangnails disappear.
