Cleansers -Ren - ClearCalm Anti-Blemish Clay Cleanser

I am surprised this product doesn't have any more reviews! I have seen it mentioned quite a few times on youtube so I decided to go out and purchase it as I have been struggling with the occasional blemish on my face. When I say occasional I mean 1 or 2 pimples every week. This cleanser claims to combat the causes of blemishes by calming the skin and effectively cleansing it as well. This has become my HG cleanser. If feels absolutely incredible on my skin. It is rich and creamy and really cleanses my skin well. I wear foundation every day and after removing my make up with a make up wipe this takes care of any excess that might have been left. I have combination/sensitive skin but I seriously think you could use this even if you had dry skin. The cleanser makes your face feel so comfortable after using it, not dry and tight at all. Since using this product (about 3 weeks now) I have not had a single blemish! I am super impressed and will continue to purchase this cleanser. I will also be checking out the other products that they have in this specific range for blemish prone skin. What a winner!

Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
biancab16 12/5/2012 6:50:00 AM
This powder is the exact dupe for MAC's blot powder except it is like a quarter of the price here in South Africa. AMAZING! I use the translucent powder over my Revlon Colorstay Foundation and it looks great all day long. It is not cakey or heavy at all. Since I've used this I only have to blot my face about once a day, and that's only in summer time when it is extremely hot here. I don't think I'd use this if I had dry skin, it might be too tight on your skin. I am super impressed with this product and will definitely continue to buy it. The only con is perhaps the packaging, it feels a little flimsy. But am willing to overlook this as the product is so good!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
biancab16 12/5/2012 6:46:00 AM
I really like this foundation. After trying to cut back on spending so much money on high end make up brands I read up on this foundation and decided to go out and purchase it. I am now on my third bottle :) This foundation applies easily, either with your fingers or a foundation brush (which I use). The coverage is medium/full. I use the one for oily/combination skin and it works like a dream. I don't feel oily at all during the day and the staying power of this foundation is also great. I can easily wear it for a whole 9h work day and still look good - even in the summer months! I have very fair skin and use their lightest shade called Buff. This foundation paired with Rimmel's Stay Matte translucent powder is an absolute winner - I don't have to blot at all during the day. If you're looking for a good drug store foundation this one is definitely worth a try. Only con is that I'd love it to come in a pump action bottle.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
biancab16 5/21/2012 8:30:00 AM
I have sensitive skin and this product works like a dream. It doesn't dry out my skin or leave it tight after using. I love the creamy texture and my skin feels very soft after using this product for a while. I use this in conjunction with Johnson's facial wipes as I find the cleanser isn't enough to remove all my make up properly. But used together I'm left with clean and refreshed skin. Also love the pump action bottle as it's easy to get just the right amount out. Will continue buying this product - great value.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Moisture
biancab16 5/21/2012 8:26:00 AM
I have decreased my rating because after using this cream for a month or so I'm not so happy anymore. I find that this left my skin really oily after a few hours which is not idea. I don't want to be blotting every hour at the office. So disappointed because this cream got rid of my scarring and pigmentation but I just can't deal with the oiliness anymore. Side note: People have debated whether using an anti wrinkle cream at such a young age is a good idea and for me it is. If you have wrinkles already then there is no curing them - you can only fill them in with the collagen products. As soon as you stop you will start to see them again. Hence if you use a cream from a young age you can prevent the onset of wrinkles. Of course this has a lot to do with your genetic and whether you stay out of the sun as this is one of the major contributing factors to wrinkles. I never put my face in the sun and SPF in my moisturizer is very important.

Sunscreen -Eucerin - Sun Fluid Mattifying SPF 50+
biancab16 1/18/2012 2:40:00 AM
Not a great product. Definitely not mattifying - still leaves you with that sunscreen sheen which I don't like. Am going to try something else and use this on the rest of my body so as to not waste it. Feels sticky and heavy on my face - not great at all. Will not buy again.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Rose Day Cream
biancab16 1/17/2012 7:39:00 AM
I bought this cream during the summer months here in SA and found that it's a bit too heavy for the summertime. I have hypersensitive skin that gets very dry in winter and kind of oily in summer (weird!). If you have oily/combination skin in the summer time I would try the lighter version of this - the Rose Day Cream Light. I'm definitely switching back to that for the summer as soon as I've finished the tube I'm busy with. I suspect this will be great for me in the winter time but for summer, for me, it is a no go.

Liquid -Chanel - Perfection Lumiere
biancab16 1/17/2012 7:29:00 AM
I really like this product. This is my first Chanel foundation and I feel it is worth the price. I had previously been using Dior's Nude Skin foundation. I still like that but wanted to see what the hype was about this particluar product. The SA described this product as a corrective foundation, and it is just that. Once i've applied this foundation I rarely have to reach for my concealer, which is great. It evens out skintone and hides my freckles that I'm not so fond of. I would suggest applying this product with your fingers so that the warmth of them spreads it nicely. It dries really quickly so you'll have to work fast. But once you get the hang of it it really is gorgeous! It dries to a slight powdery finish but I still lightly brush over some Chanel powder too to set it as it is summer here at the moment and VERY hot. I think in winter I might go without the powder as my face tends to be way drier. The staying power of this stuff is magic. It lives up to it's promise as a long-wearing foundation and lasts on me all day - even in the heat! I tend to just touch up my t-zone during the day with the compact powder to avoid shiny spots. I even had a nap the other day and when I woke up the foundation still looked like I had freshly applied it. The colour is also a perfect match for my skin which is great because I usually struggle to find a shade suitable for my pale skin. I have a pink undertone and am currently using this in Beige 22. As a whole I really like this product and will definitely purchase again.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Rose day cream light
biancab16 10/21/2011 8:45:00 AM
Bought this yesterday and so far so good! I'm pretty sure I have hyper-sensitive skin - last week I used a primer for the first time and broke out into horrible, painful blind pimples on my cheeks - not ideal! I have always been on the search for a moisturizer that is suitable for sensitive skin as all the products I used were just 'okay'. I used philosophy's hope in a jar before which is my favourite, but due to extreme shipping costs to South Africa (where I live) had to give this up :( So I scoured the internet and I remember celebrities praising Dr Hauschka. And hey, if with all that money it's good enough for them then surely it can't be half bad? Today is day one of using the Rose Day Cream Light (decided on this one as I wasn't too keen on the Rose Day Cream texture and shine) and it feels really comfortable. It is now 3pm and my make up is still in place (YAY!), my skin feels moisturized and not irritated like i want to go home and wash my face immediately. Like the packaging as I feel you could get every last drop out of the tube. You also only need a small amount warmed between your hands so it should last for a couple of months seeing as Dr Hauschka has a 'no night cream' policy. I am going to purchase the facial toner today and try the 'no night cream' approach tonight. Will report back in a few weeks with (hopefully) great results. x UPDATE: Since posting the above I have fallen in love with this moisturizer. ALL of my blind pimples have cleared up and I havne't had one painful one since using this cream. When I have gotten the odd breakout it has cleared up within a day from using this magnificent moisturizer. It is lightweight on my face - perfect for the summer time here in South Africa at the moment. I think I will switch to the original Rose Day Cream in winter as my skin normally dries up during that season. This tube has lasted me about 2 months. It is pricey but I feel it is totally worth it as for the first time I have the option to not wear any foundation. It is perfect for sensitive and dry skin at the same time. It also seems to be the perfect base for make up which is a huge bonus. I have also been following Dr Hauschka's philosophy of no night cream. The first week was REALLY hard as I adjusted but it has gotten a lot better. I still sometimes feel dry but then all I do is spritz some more of the toner on. I think I might treat myself to their dry skin mask over the holidays and see if that improves the tightness for me in the evenings. But the no night cream definitely has it's benefits, I feel my skin is more clean in the morning and I have definitely had 90% less breakouts than before. This is liquid gold to me - will be using this product for a very long time. FINAL UPDATE: So it's been 3 months since starting to use this product and just want to say that I have totally gotten used to the no night cream policy. My skin is no longer yearning for moisturizer at night and I wake up in the morning with my face feeling light and clean, no heaviness like when I used to use night cream. Dr Hauschka is now my HG range of skincare and I don't suspect I'll stop using it any time soon - just wish they made an SPF cream!

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Barrier Repair
biancab16 9/12/2011 4:32:00 AM
LOVED this! Had a bad reaction to the special cleansing gel that caused me to get painful blind pimples on my cheeks and the barrier repair has sorted out the problem in 2 days :) Am using all the calming products and will never go back! I use barrier repair as a targeted treatment along with active moist moisturizer so it lasts super long! Will definitely continue using! EDIT: have stopped using the active moist moisturizer and opted for Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light which so far has made my skin very comfortable. Am using the calming cleanser which I still love - perfect for sensitive skin.
