Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
bff 2/6/2013 12:34:00 AM
now that i've purchased my 3rd bottle of this foundation, i figured it was time to write a review. obviously i really like this product. i have very sensitive skin, and most foundations either break me out, make my skin look flaky, or increase redness. this one is great. it looks exactly like skin. it's not shiny or matte, it's skin. it lasts all day w/out creasing or fading or doing anything weird. i use it under my eyes too and it's perfect. i use this w/my fingers. i put a tiny bit in my palm, warm it up w/2 fingers from my other hand, then apply section by section on my face. when i've used nearly all of it, i rub my hands together warming up the rest and making a very thin layer, and then kind of press my palms all over my face to warm up and set the foundation. i hope this isn't totally crazy.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Physiological Cleansing Gel
bff 12/4/2010 5:12:00 AM
i'm on my 3rd or 4th bottle of this, and i'm very happy with it. will keep using as long as they make it. one thing though: i use an oil cleanser (shu or dermalogica) to remove sunscreen and makeup before i use this. so i can't say how well it removes makeup on it's own. but it is very gentle and soothing, and my skin isn't red at all after washing my face, which it always was in the past. if i'm using my sonicare i'll use 2 pumps and if not, just 1. my one gripe is that the pump doesn't seem to get the last 1/5 of the product out of the bottle. i always end up throwing some away.

Moisturizers -La Roche Posay - Toleriane Soothing Protective Light Facial Fluid
bff 12/4/2010 5:01:00 AM
i've been using this moisturizer for a few years, it is the only one i've been able to find that doesn't break me out. i think it's b/c it doesn't have a 'cone in the top ingredients (or maybe at all? i can't remember). it is really light though, i wish it was more moisturizing for my combo skin. but the next one up, the one made for combo skin, has cyclopentasiloxane which does break me out. it feels great though, too bad. i would def try this if you have sensitive oily breakout prone skin.

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - NutriPerfect Eye Serum
bff 8/27/2009 1:04:00 AM
i can't believe this product has so few reviews! even though it is labeled as a serum, this is more like a light eye cream to me. most serums are purely treatment, no moisturizing, but this one does both. it absorbs nicely and has helped strengthen and tighten my undereye area. i especially notice that my concealer looks much better. i use this with the moisture recharge a lot.

Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - The Skincare Eye Moisture Recharge
bff 8/27/2009 1:00:00 AM
i asked the shiseido SA for an eye cream that just gives tons of moisture -- no anti-wrinkle or firming or brightening. she gave me this and i love it. its actually more of a gel-type texture and its very light and absorbs nicely. since i am a complete eye cream junkie, i actually use this in conjunction with another eye product (i have a serum, and a balm too and i'll just pick two of these to wear at once). also, this wears nicely under makeup.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Misfit Duo
bff 8/27/2009 12:53:00 AM
i really like this duo, even though i usually stick to neutrals. i find the aqua/green side very wearable and blendable, while still being pigmented. the ivory side is only OK, it doesn't really do much for me, but its not horrible either. i'm NW15 and my favorite ways to wear misfit are: 1. aqua on the lid, mac samoa silk in the crease, ivory side for highlighting and lower lashline, black liner; 2. ivory side all over upper lid (lash to brow), BB naked in crease very lightly, aqua/green side on lower lashline, tightline upper waterline w/black, some bright aqua on lower waterline.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
bff 12/21/2008 1:46:00 AM
this powder broke me out SO bad. i figured since it only had one ingredient i'd be pretty safe, but after wearing for a few days i had a mess of a face. i did like the natural look and feel of this powder though. if my skin liked it, i would have been very happy.

Loose Powders -Bobbi Brown - Pale Yellow Loose Powder
bff 12/21/2008 1:43:00 AM
i really like the color of this powder, as the yellow really does help reduce the pink/red in my skin. but i think everything else about it is just OK. it can look heavy on the skin and it also doesn't help w/shine too much. but i use it anyway b/c the color is so good. also, i have sensitive skin and this doesn't break me out. i tried the MUFE hd-powder recently and it broke me out horrible so now i just stick to this. i use the sheer finish version.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
bff 12/21/2008 1:36:00 AM
UPDATE: i ditched this for chanel vitalumiere aqua. the best thing about this foundation is that it doesn't break me out (nearly all found does). i have combo skin, and this is a little too drying if i use it on its own so i mix in a dot of moisturizer and its perfect. i also find that i can't apply this w/a brush or it looks flakey and dry so i started applying w/my fingers and really pressing it in/warming it up. it looks much better now. i feel it does stay on all day, and gives medium coverage.

Mascara -NARS - Waterproof Mascara
bff 12/21/2008 1:31:00 AM
i give this mascara a 3 because i think its just "fine." it doesn't really do much, but it is a pretty, glossy non-clumping rich black color. i still need a replacement for my discontinued shu fiber xtension mascara, and this def. isn't it. if you just want a simple basic yet very black mascara, you'll probably like this. the w/p version doesn't smudge on me at all.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - PreCleanse
bff 12/21/2008 1:25:00 AM
i've tried many oil cleansers (shu, dhc, mac) and this remains my favorite. it doesn't dry out my skin at all, or give me redness or breakouts. it easily removes my s/s, foundation, and all the waterproof eye makeup i wear. the only thing i hate is the crappy squeeze bottle. i wish it had a pump.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
bff 12/21/2008 1:19:00 AM
i love my clarisonic. the first month or so that i had it, i was convinced that it was causing my skin to breakout and that i must be too sensitive to use it. then i finally bought the delicate brush head and gave it another try (since it was so expensive!). now i love it. i use it every night w/dermalogica special cleansing gel and my skin looks 1000x better than before. smoother, more even, smaller pores.

Lipstick -Cle de Peau - lipstick
bff 7/21/2008 5:51:00 PM
ok, yes, this is a nice lipstick. but great? not really. its nothing too special from my shu and chanel lipsticks. i like the one i got but i don't think i'll get another. pros: feels good, looks good, stays on w/out drying cons: sometimes goes on "chunky" instead of smooth, expensive

Lipstick -Cle de Peau - Extra Silky Lipstick
bff 7/21/2008 5:48:00 PM
i love this product. i got 105 and the color is so pretty (i'm fair, dark hair). it feels so good and stays on forever. it conditions my lips like magic and they feel good even after i've removed the lipstick! only minor complaint is the weird packaging. i don't like the angle on the applicator (too steep) and the clicky twist that only goes out (can't retract). also, i don't like any of the other colors, i think this is pretty much the only one that works for me.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
bff 7/21/2008 5:43:00 PM
ok, i know part of the problem with this product is that it just didn't work for me. my skin is very acne-prone and yep, this broke me out. i could try the oil-free version, but i think the problem is more the silicones. if you can handle the product, i think it works nice. i've tried some other primers (trying to find one that doesn't break me out -- no luck) and this one did perform pretty well against the others.
