Fragrances -Pacifica - Tibetan Mountain Temple Perfume
ben228 3/8/2013 1:12:00 PM
This is a wonderful perfume. When it is initially put on, it smells strongly of patchouli and ginger and then dies down to a ginger dominate smell on me. After a few hours, once it has faded a little, the citrus scent is left on the skin and smells wonderful with the remaining ginger scent. Warm, sweet, earthy, spicy, fresh. A lovely fragrance. I spray this on my neck and chest and then use the solid version on my forearms and behind my ears. Doing this, when the spray starts to fade, the solid has started to kick in full blast. The smell lasts all day and I am complimented constantly on it. If you don't like ginger/spicy/incense smells I would skip this. If you are like me and don't like the super flowery, super sweet candy smells that it seems like so many people are wearing now, go for it!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
ben228 12/27/2011 12:06:00 PM
This is my favorite liquid foundation. I have used it off and on for years and always end up coming back to it. I have about nc10/15 skin tone and use this in Buff. Ivory, the lightest shade, is much too pink/red for my skin. This is a tab bit too dark when applying, but once it sets it lightens up quite a bit to a fair beige shade. After applying a loose powder over it, it is almost exactly my skin color and looks very natural if blended into the jawline. It has a matte finish, but my skin is super oily so I need to extra powder on top. It does indeed last all day and if set with powder it is water and sweat resistant too. I can deal with having to wear powder over it to correct the shade; the staying power is amazing and the shade is only slightly off.

Styling Products -Aveeno - Active Naturals Nourish + Style Soft Hold Gel-Creme
ben228 7/27/2011 1:48:00 PM
I have straightened my hair or worn it in a ponytail for years. I could never find a product that let me wear it in its in-between curls and waves natural state that didn't make it look like a frizz ball. I bought this at Walgreens on sale for $4 and gave it a try. I sprayed my dry, clean hair with a little bit of plain water and then finger combed about a quarter size amount of this through. After it dried, which was fairly fast, I brushed the ends of gently to give it some separation and it look amazing. For the first time ever I can wear my hair curly and it not look like a poof ball an hour after fixing it :)

Treatments -RoC - Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Night Cream
ben228 5/3/2011 5:42:00 PM
I do not have very many wrinkles, just some fine lines and some dry slight bags under my eyes. I like to use wrinkle creams to help prevent, as I am still fairly young. I have used AHA and BHA for years but after a while they seem to stop working. So I decided to try a retinol product. This was on sale at work (Walgreens) and I decided to try it. Within a few days it was noticeable that my skin was smoother and clearer and refreshed looking. I apply this at night and then use Olay firming night cream over it, as this alone can be a bit drying. In the morning I use a moisturizer or foundation with SPF in it, as retinol can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Overall, worth the rather high price for a drugstore product ($21 no on sale) and quite effective.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Excellence Creme
ben228 4/30/2011 3:40:00 PM
I have been dying my natural strawberry blonde hair black for years. It looks good on me, as my natural color makes me looked rather plain and boring. I used to use revlon colorsilk and had pleasant results. Tried this for the first time when it was on sale a few months ago and loved it. It never dries my hair out at all. I have no gray, but it works so well that I think I have found my new HG of box color

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Hydra Gloss very dry/damaged hair
ben228 10/7/2010 2:05:00 AM
ok, so my natural hair is dry, curly, and frizzy. I have very thick hair but it is not coarse, normal hair, but I have a ton of it. I have been dying my hair black for years myself with box dye. Yes, I know, not the best but my hair has been handling it supirisingly well. I had a sudden urge a few months ago to go red. After stripping with color remover, bleaching and dying red my hair was dead. I decided about 8 weeks later to go back to black to because I liked it better. For the past few weeks, my hair has gotten progressively drier and much more brittle. From the bleach, flat iron and the fact I am about two months overdue for a trim. I bought this because my hair needed moisture...badly. After shampooing with the matching shampoo I applied this for about 10 minutes. What suprised me was how runny it was for a conditioner for 'very dry/damaged hair." I only wash my hair every three days, but don't see this bottle lasting more than a month because I have to use SO much of it. That's ok, it is cheap. After washing I used my mane n tail condish as a leave in and my matrix sleek look cream. I blew it dry and my hair felt, well, unusually sticky and coarse, but after it cooled down and I flat ironed it it look much more softer and healthier than it has in weeks. I guess this gets a little tacky in heat from the light residue it leaves on hair but softens up once it cools down. Now, time for a serious trim to see how it works then :)

Conditioner -Pantene - Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality Conditioner
ben228 9/10/2010 3:58:00 AM
I normally use mane n tail or garnier triple nutrion 3 minute dryness undo as my staple conditioners. I occasionaly use tresemme antibreakage, but too much of that and I get nasty drying build up on my hair. Enter this condtioner- lovely scent, fairly decent price (though higher than garnier or mane n tail), nice creamy feel in the hand and in the hair. It ends there, abrupty. After washing my hair with the matching shampooo, I apply this condish. Letting it sit for about 5 minutes I rinsed. Oh. My. God. My hair has never been this matted after conditioning in my life. It was tangled beyond belief and I couldn't even get a comb through it even with leave in condish and detangler. I had to promptly wash my hair and am sitting with my tresemme on my hair letting it soak in for an hour to try to give my hair back some strength. This conditioner=tangles, matting, extreme dryness and overall disappointment. Sorry pantene, you fail again.

Conditioner -Garnier - Fortifying Cream Conditioner For Dry Or Damaged Hair
ben228 8/22/2010 4:08:00 PM
eh, basic conditioner. made my hair a bit too oily. had to be super careful using serums and hairspray after styling after using this because even though i rinse for a good while after using it, it still made my hair very limp and oily, which is a feat, considering i have very thick, very dry, slightly damaged hair

Styling Products -Matrix - Sleek.look Lite Smoothing Cream
ben228 6/26/2010 3:18:00 AM
I have tried many products to smooth my naturally curly frizzy hair that I almost always straighten. I do use hairspray, but prefer not to cake my head in it to hold the straight style and calm the frizzies. So, I try to use smoothing products before blowdrying. I tried pantene's new creme in the blue pump bottle with so so results. I saw this on the shelf at work (walgreens) and decided to try it. I wash, conditioned, used a leave in, and then used about a quarter size amount of this, I have thick yet soft hair and it seems to suck up product fast. I blew it dry and it felt tacky at first when the hot air hit it, but after it was totally dry it felt very smooth and soft. I used a pea size amount more before flatironing and it made my hair easier to straighten, soft, smooth and reduced the amount of hair spray I needed to use. I want to try to extreme version next to see if I can use a lesser amount and still get results. Overall, awesome cream.

Conditioner -Rusk - Sensories Smoother Leave-in Conditioner
ben228 1/18/2010 2:17:00 AM
I used this for awhile then realized about half way through the bottle it didn't really do much. Garnier leave in or mane n tail work just as well for a fration of the price.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula
ben228 1/13/2010 7:41:00 AM
works well, but I have to use so much, a full pump on my chin length hair, and then even more on the surface and part of my hair after I straighten to knock out the flyaways and frizz. I don't know if I will repurchase, I have to use so much and the bottle is so tiny, even though I love the effect once I get enough in my hair.

Conditioner -TRESemme - Vitamin B12 & Gelatin Anti-Breakage
ben228 11/9/2009 10:51:00 AM
Like most tresemme conditioners, made my hair incrediably soft the fist time, then it dried out my ends to the point that they started to break. Ew, not even clarifying helped.

Conditioner -Pantene - Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner
ben228 10/5/2009 11:23:00 PM
So I succumbed. I never thought I would use pantene. I never felt like the ingredients really had anything too great in themto be worth buying. Honestly, my hair is quite fried and I decided to try the last conditioner I have ever thought to use, Pantene. Anyway, I washed my hair with my bioinfusion hydrating shampoo, and as usual, it instantly went into a tangled disaster. I slather on same pantene moisture renewal conditioner. I let it sit for about five minutes. As I was rinsing it out my hair felt soft as it usually does when I rinse conditioner, but that feeling usually fades as soon as the conditioner is rinsed out. But this time it stayed soft the whole time I was rinsing to the point that I thought maybe I didn't get it all out. I got did the usual, towel dry, add some leave in, whatever. But this time my hair felt SOFT when it was wet, not just like wet straw like how it normally feels. Who knew? Patene did give me soft hair afterall when all else failed.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head After Party
ben228 9/25/2009 1:28:00 AM
Made my hair feel plasticy even after the first use and it never really did anything. A leave in conditioner mixed with some serum works just as well for my hair, plus it is substantially cheaper then the after party
