Mascara -Rimmel - Volum' Eyes
rated 3 of 5

I don't whether to love or hate this mascara. I'm really on the fence about it. When I first applied it, it was a clumpy, gooey disaster. I had 5 spider-leg, chunks for eyelashes. I completely panicked. I was in a rush, my eyeshadow was perfect and there was NO way I was going to start from scratch. I had to make this stuff work. So I pulled out my spooly and my trusty Tweezerman eyelash comb. Well, after removing some of the excess with the spooly and then combing and separating with the lash comb... I loved the look! So here's why I don't know whether to love or hate it. It took a lot of work... but the final result was awesome!! I see that other reviewers are having success with the comb applicator, if they blot it first. I'll try that next time.

Lipstick -Chanel - Aqualumiere #36 - Yucatan

I just rec'd this from a fabulous swapper. She thought the colour would look great on me... and guess what... she was right! LOL It's such a versatile colour. I put it on last night with a full face of makeup and it looked great. I put it on this morning with nothing but some e/s & mascara and it still suited the look perfectly. I really think it would be a universally flattering colour.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer spf15

I wanted to love this moisturizer... and at 1st I did. I liked the finish it gave me right after I put it on. It actually felt a bit matte... after an hour or so I was an oily disaster :o( I don't mind this as a back-up or if my skin is feeling dry every once in a while... but I'm definitely not in love with it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Moth Brown
rated 5 of 5

I've had this e/s for a few months, but I used Moth Brown for the 1st time today. I love it!!! It's the perfect colour for a daytime smokey eye. It enhances my green eyes beautifully. I can see this quickly becoming a HG colour for me.

Blush -MAC - Bloomsberry and Tiger Lily Duo
rated 2 of 5
belle2216 5/10/2005 12:00:00 PM

I won't bother describing the colour of this blush duo, because the previous reviewers have done a great job. I just wanted to add that this blush is pure frost my C3/C4 skin. A shiny, frosty disaster! I guess I'm too dark for it.. as everyone else who loves it seems to have a bit lighter skin than me.

Mascara -Bourjois - Coup de Theatre False Lash Illusion - Duo Mascara
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 5/6/2005 12:44:00 PM

I really like this mascara. I use A LOT of the primer... I watch as the little fibers attach to the end of my lashes and make them longer & longer.

The actual mascara itself does little to thicken or lengthen.. that's the primer's job.. and that's why I use a lot of it. The mascara is pretty much just for definition and colour.

I can see why someone who needs thickening as well as length might not like this. I, however, have quite thick lashes, so it works just fine for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Philosophy - Pure Grace Body Souffle
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 5/6/2005 12:05:00 PM

I adore this body lotion... but not necessarily because the lotion is so great (it's pretty average).. but because the Pure Grace scent is my favourite fragrance.

The body souffle itself is very nice. It's moderately moisturizing, drys quickly and isn't overly greasy. But if it didn't have the Pure Grace fragrance... I'd be very disappointed that I spent so much $$ on it.

Blush -Cargo - BeachBlush- Miami Beach
rated 5 of 5

Wow... I love this blush! I call it my "healthy glow in a can". It's so pretty and natural looking. I love how versatile the Beach Blushes are. Depending on which way you swipe them, you can end up with softer or deeper colour. I also have Cable Beach, which I love equally as much.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Antique Gold #17
rated 3 of 5
belle2216 5/6/2005 11:55:00 AM

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Milani eyeshadows. The price can't be beat, the colours are fun, and the packaging is easy to work with.

I so wanted to love Antique Gold, but unfortunately I just like it. For some reason I don't really see any gold in it at all. I shows up very olive green on me... with no gold tones at all. I like the colour... but it's just not what I was hoping for.

Eye Shadow -Quo - Glitz
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 5/6/2005 11:50:00 AM

Glitz is a very pretty soft gold. Not at all brassy or orangey.. it's the perfect gold for cool-toned gals.

Quo eyeshadows are high quality. They're smooth, silky and blendable.

Canadian gals: I highly suggest giving this one a try! American gals: I highly suggest checking out Quo if you ever happen to visit Canada.

Eye Shadow -Lumene - Star Set Single Eyeshadow - Your Harmony 104
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 4/28/2005 3:17:00 PM

Love this shade!!! I received this as an extra in a swap and I'm so thrilled with it. It's gorgeous soft taupey brown with a hint of rosey iridescence to it. It looks great with so many other colours and looks. The wet/dry formula also makes it fun to experiment with different intensities & shades. If Lumene were sold in Canada, I'd definitely own more Lumene eyeshadows.

Foundations -Bourjois - Plus Que Parfait, Matte Finish Foundation
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 4/28/2005 1:31:00 PM

I adore this foundation! The packaging is a little fumbly and weird (took 1 lippie off for the dumb bottle), but other than that, I really have no complaints.

A little goes a long way with this stuff. I put 5 dabs on my face (chin, nose, 2 cheeks & forehead) and then use my MAC #187 brush to "buff" it into/onto my skin. It's also very buildable. I usually have to use concealer on my cheeks to hide broken capilaries, but not with this stuff. I just apply a bit extra and the redness is covered.

I have quite oily skin and I find that once this foundation "sets".. it blends perfectly into my skin and gives me great looking skin. I can see though, how people without such oily skin might find it weird and powdery.

I would definitely buy this foundation again. In fact, I use it very sparingly b/c Bourjois isn't sold in Canada and it's going to be tough for me to replace it.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 4/28/2005 12:26:00 PM

I really like this foundation. The pigmentation is incredible. I get full coverage with very little product. Because I don't have to put in on very thick, I get a smooth, flawless skin look. EXACTLY what I was hoping for!

The packaging is great as well. I love that it's a pump dispenser. Less product is wasted and it's more sanitary than pour-bottles.

I have oily skin and I find that, although this foundation is oil-free, I still need to blot about 3 - 4 hours after putting it on. To date, I haven't found ANY foundation this is sucessful at keeping my oilies at bay... so I'm happy if I can find one where I only have to blot once or twice. This is it!

Bronzers -Guerlain - Terracotta SunSet Celebration Bronzer
rated 5 of 5
belle2216 4/24/2005 2:36:00 AM

This bronzer is unbelievably gorgeous!!! There is just enough shimmer to make me look glowy... without looking shiny/frosty. With the little bit of pink mixed in (from the sunburst) I get the *exact* colour that a day out in the sun would normally give me. It's the most natural looking bronzer I've ever tried... and I've tried A LOT!

Yes, it's pricy ($65.00 CAN), but you get a TON of product. The compact is HUGE! You get a full oz. of product.

This bronzer = instant healthy glow for me. I'd definitely repurchase!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Untitled Paint
rated 4 of 5
belle2216 4/21/2005 5:11:00 PM

This paint is a staple for me. (although now that I've recently found Urban Decay - Primer Potion.. I may just give up my Paints.)
This Paints makes a great base for neutral & shimmery eye looks. I've seen some people say that Bare Canvas is better for warm-toned gals and Untitled is better for cool-toned gals. I don't, personally, find this to be the case. I like both colours equally. BC is better for a matte look and Untitled is better for shimmery looks.
My only real complaint is the packaging. The constant oozing is really a pain. Unrolling the end of the tube helps a lot though.

TIP:To get the best and longest wear from your e/s... press the colour onto your lid while the paint is still a bit wet. This way the paint/powder combo doesn't budge throughout the day.
