Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Passion fruit (Maracuja) oil

Pure Maracuja oil comes from the passion fruit. It is yellow in color, and has a very subtle, fruity scent. It is more moisturizing than argan oil, and does not clog pores. As a matter of fact, my skin has been the clearest since I have switched to this oil. It has the amazing ability to balance oiliness. I no longer have an oily T-zone and no longer require a midday powder touch up. Makeup goes on smoothly, without the need for primer. You can use it all over -face, eyes, body, hair. I do not buy it from Tarte - it is overpriced and I think it is more refined, thus eliminating its potency. I buy it from a free trade company from Amazon and it costs around $25 for 2 oz. It is cost-effective for me to use this product - a little goes a long way and I have eliminated every other face and eye cream from my regimen, with the exception of a 1% retinol cream I occasionally use at night for a little extra smoothing. I use it day and night on face, neck, and eye area. It's the most universal, effective, and cost effective product I have ever used.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Jheri Redding Colorfix

This product worked really well. I had dyed dark brown hair. Medium length, curly, porous, MANY layers of permanent color. I followed the application and timing instructions and was very careful to coat every stand. I eliminated the #3 process, because the directions and the sales lady at Sally' s Beauty Supply said to do so because it can darken the hair again. At the end, all the color was stripped and it did not damaged My hair like bleach. I washed and towel dried, and left protein rich restructuring conditioner in my hair for 15 minutes. Then I colored my hair with a rich golden medium brown. My hair was silky soft and I love my new color!

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation

The color match was perfect. There is a knack to applying this, however. You definitely need a primer that is slick, like something silicone-based. You need a good foundation brush - no sponge. Then you gotta blend, blend, blend, otherwise the application will be streaky and uneven. The coverage is really good and breathable, but you need TIME. Bottom line, this is a special occasion foundation - one where you are gonna take your time for photographs and long wear. This is NOT an every day, all purpose product.

I generally don't like transforming color anything. I bought this in fair. The level was fine and looked decent at first, but after an hour of wear, my skin looked ashen. The texture and moisturizing properties were good, but the color doesn't adjust to a flattering tone for me. I will stick to my regular foundation in the winter and tinted moisturizer in the summer.

Wow! The advertising was correct - no clumps! I mean, NONE. NADA. Good thickening and lengthening. A very good product.

So, I gave in to the hype circling around these products. I have naturally curly, coarse, long, Botticelli curl. I went thru a straightened phase, but recently wanted to go back to "what God gave me". I purchased a package of 12 oz bottles of the three basics, NoPoo, One conditioner and Angel gel. I have to say, after the firs use, they products really transformed my hair back to the curls I remember I ha in my teens - shiny, separated spirals. I see that the "technique" is just a important as the products themselves. You really need to concentrate the NoPoo on the scalp and use a generous amount, in order to get it clean. This, in conjunction with the ultra-creamy conditioner leaves the hair super soft. I then wring out the excess water and wrap dripping hair in a regular towel and wait 10 minutes. I DON'T think you need their special shammy towel -the point is not to agitate the hair, so any towel will do. After, I work about 2 quarter sized dollops of Angel gel through my hair and leave it alone till it dries. Once dry, I shake my hair upside down a couple of times and viola! - shiny, separated, soft curls, without a hint of crunch or stickiness. Perfect products for seriously curly, frizzy hair!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara

This is my old standby. Whenever I get bored with the latest trend, I go back to this product. The wand grabs my lashes just right and the formula coats them perfectly without clumps. My lashes look long , thick and pretty without that Kardashian spiderlash look.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

I always thought this was the most overrated moisturizer of all time. It's all mineral oil and doesn't moisturize at all, especially if you are over 40. I never understood the price either, and a testament to this is you often get a mini bottle of this stuff as a free gift at the Clinique counter. I usually throw them away, because I can give them away. Don't waste your money and if you are still curious, chances are you have a friend who has an unused bottle laying around!

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
rated 5 of 5

This is the best foundation ever. I am 40, with normal-dry skin, and some fine lines. I have level 4 fair skin with yellow undertones and finding a perfect match isn't so much the problem for me. What does it for me is the TEXTURE. It is super-smooth and glides on effortlessly and blends into the skin perfectly. You can achieve great medium coverage without using very much product at all. I have a lot of red blotches, especially around my nose and it really covers them well. One dot in each quadrant of my face and done! It doesn't settle into fine lines at all. There is absolutely no cakiness, dryness, oiliness, or powderiness. This product is about the closest thing to perfect I can find.

Hair Color -Garnier - Olia
rated 4 of 5
bek72 1/27/2013 5:22:00 PM

My hair is tricky to dye - is about 50% grey and does not take color very well at the roots and sucks up too much dye on the ends. It is also very long and coarse. I usually use Loreal Excellence Cream or Clairol Nice n Easy. I have read about oil-based hair dyes for a while and was excited to try Olia, since it is marketed as a permanent hair dye. I bought Dark Golden Brown, 4.5, which is the same level and tone as the ones I used from Loreal and Clarol. First, i was impressed by the smell - no odor, very pleasant. It did not stain the skin or countertops as bad as other formulas. It has a no-drip formula (which is a bit of an out-dated term, because just about everything out there is basically "no drip" anymore). I was not impressed by the application bottle, however. The clumsy teardrop shape made it difficult to handle while doing root application, so I kept dropping it on the floor. I left it on for the prescribed 20 minutes for roots and applied it to the rest of the hair for the last 10 minutes. It rinsed out easily and the conditioner was nice. My hair felt silky soft and smooth when I was finished with my shower. The only problem was, and this is the clincher when you have stubborn grays - they and the rest of my virgin roots took up the color about a shade lighter than the color on the package. It blended with the rest of my hair color well enough when I dried my hair and no dark roots, but it still did not give me perfect color matching and coverage like Excellence or Nice n Easy. This product did not perform like a permanent dye, rather more like a semi or demi permanent For this reason, I probably wont use this product again, because I get perfect results from my old reliable brands. However, I believe it will perform just fine for somebody who's hair works well with semi or demi permanents and will give shiny, silky, soft results. For this reason, I still gave it a 4 rating.
