Conditioner -Joico - Color Endure Violet Conditioner
rated 3 of 5

This is a very take-it-or-leave-it conditioner to me. I bought it along with the matching shampoo (which I like) at TJ Maxx so luckily I didn't pay full price. This tones my highlights sufficiently but isn't very moisturizing. I only use it once a week with the violet shampoo - never any other time.

Shampoo -Joico - Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo

Can we talk about how much better this smells than Clairol Shimmer Lights?! It's like night and day! I think the tone of violet is similar but with Joico you don't have to worry about smelling like an old lady. I use this weekly to refresh my highlights and it does a nice job of maintaining the light ash blonde that I love. The formula can be a bit drying so you should certainly use a good conditioner. I bought the shampoo and conditioner on a whim at TJ Maxx. I probably wouldn't pay full price because I'm fickle with hair products, but if I see it again for $8 I'll repurchase.

Moisturizers -Alpha Hydrox - Enhanced Lotion - 10% AHA
rated 4 of 5
bebedejuin 3/24/2013 10:59:00 PM

After battling excessively dry skin this winter and trying numerous moisturizers, I can happily say this is the ONLY product that got rid of my dry, flaky skin once and for all! Even after only one use, I knew I had finally found a winner. Yes, it smells like glue, but every time I use this I'm amazed at how soft and glowing it leaves my face. This works best on my driest areas: my t-zone. (I'm weird and have normal cheeks and a dry t-zone) My less dry cheeks might purge a little from this; I can't tell if it's this lotion or my blush that's causing a VERY minor breakout. My problem areas are baby soft and it even helps my dry scaly patch between my eyebrows that crops up now and again. I do not experience any warmth or tingling sensations, nor any redness. It also helps clear blackheads on my nose and chin. Most days I can get by with using this as my moisturizer rather than a pre-moisturizing treatment. I cannot stress how amazed I am at this since I had so much trouble earlier this year. My makeup goes on quite smoothly now. I only wish it had more of a matte coverage because it can make me a little too dewy by mid-day. The bottle will probably last a year since I now only need a thin layer 2x a day for good results. If your skin is not sensitive I highly recommend this!

Toners -Clinique - Mild Clarifying Lotion
rated 4 of 5
bebedejuin 3/24/2013 10:42:00 PM

This is the only Clinique toner I've tried so I cannot attest to the burning effects of their others. The reviews of those harsher toners certainly scared me, though! My skin is combination/dry but I'm prone to blackheads on my nose and chin. This winter I have been on the hunt for gentle, non-drying products. I generally like BHA products but some leave my face too dry. I was drawn to this Mild Clarifying Lotion since it's alcohol-free and only .5% BHA. I had a similar experience to many of you in that my local Clinique counter does not have this toner on display and the sales lady had to look around a bit to find it. I'm not sure why they don't market this more because I find it to be very effective! I only use this in the evenings before bed after cleansing with my DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. Sometimes I use only these two products, sometimes I also moisturize with my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. If I go back to the mirror a bit later I can already see my pores diminishing. It never irritates my skin, not even my occasional red patches that crop up. I love how salicylic acid can penetrate sebum to help clear pores. Sometimes if I look very closely it seems some of the oil is already being lifted from my pores on my nose. With continued use my problem areas see definite improvement. I have lately used it less often, though, because I have been using AHA Enhanced 10% Lotion and I'm not sure of the effects of mixing AHA'S and BHA's. I will certainly continue usage, though.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5

This winter really took a toll on my skin. I would wake up to terribly dry, flaky and sometimes red skin, even though I used moisturizer before bed. My skin has always felt a little taut and dry after cleansing but these past few months it got really bad. I started searching for a better moisturizer to calm my face. First I tried Cerave PM but I had a bad reaction to it. Then I tried a sample of Philosophy's Take a Deep Breath (I was drawn to the refreshing name and gel-cream texture) but it really didn't touch my driest areas. I tried Garnier's gel moisturizer too because I had it in my head that a thicker moisturizer would look shiny under my makeup. I quickly realized gel=alcohol and therefore dries my skin out even more. Finally I decided to order a travel size of DDML based on the MUA reviews. I was nervous because people seem to either love it...or haaaaate it. Well you can group me with the girls who LOVE it! Finally a moisturizer that actually moisturizes my face rather than dries it out! What I love: - It has no scent to irritate my sometimes sensitive face - It sinks in to my skin within minutes, making it easy to apply my makeup shortly after use - It has helped soothe the redness associated with my super dry skin - No greasy look by midday - No breakouts The only cons I can think of are the price (I got a $5 travel tube but $25 for a larger pump bottle is a lot) - No spf (but in my experience spf contributes to that greasy look and feel. Plus I work in an office all day) So if you're on the fence like I was, I suggest buying a cheap trial/travel size to test it out. Hopefully you'll have great luck!

Mascara -Revlon - Custom Eyes
rated 1 of 5
bebedejuin 1/21/2013 10:53:00 AM

I bought this at Big Lots for about $2-3 to keep at work in my emergency late-for-work makeup stash. I'm glad I didn't spend much because this is a terrible mascara! Granted, the lash curler I bought at the same time is also sub-par, but this mascara has a major smudging problem! It's also a bit clumpy. Like another reviewer said, the clicker dial is useless because you get a horrible application each way. I ended up ditching it and replacing it with a different mascara that was easier to apply with consistent results when I'm hiding in the office bathroom trying to put on makeup before people notice I was late. :)

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear in Twisted Pink
rated 1 of 5
bebedejuin 1/19/2013 10:37:00 AM

I am very disappointed in this polish. I bought it over the summer to use on my toes. The texture is milkier and more sheer than I would have expected and I didn't like it. I prefer a more opaque creme. The most disappointing factor is the lack of staying power. Granted, I never use a base coat but within hours this polish begins to chip and/or peel. By the next day, at least one of my toes no longer has any color left. I'm not hard on my feet and this happens whether I wear open-toed shoes like flip flops or closed shoes like heels or tennis shoes.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
bebedejuin 11/29/2012 11:21:00 PM

This is one of my absolute beauty staples. I like many Revlon products, especially this liner. It goes on smoothly and lasts all day, even when my eyes usually do this magic trick where they make my makeup disappear by mid-morning. Not this liner, though; Colorstay is a deserving title! Also, I wear contacts and this has never irritated my eyes. At the end of the day, it washes off easily with makeup remover or even gentle face wash. I also appreciate the built-in sharpener!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - jessica simpson FANCY LOVE 2009
rated 3 of 5
bebedejuin 11/29/2012 9:09:00 PM

I had such high hopes for this fragrance! I bought it blind off ebay and couldn't wait to smell this seemingly dreamy, cozy, romantic peach champagne perfume. Sadly my skin seems to be highly responsive to musk and Fancy Love turned into Fancy Musk. I could smell bubbly peaches when I sprayed it on my shirt but on me I could not pull it off. I'm jealous of you lucky ladies who can!

Eye Makeup Remover -Avon - Moisture effective Eye makeup remover
rated 4 of 5
bebedejuin 11/18/2012 9:58:00 PM

Let's be real, people. You will not find a better eye makeup remover for 99 cents. I have used this product for a few years now and I consider it a tremendous value. One bottle can last me a year. I use it in the shower so I've never tried it with a pad or cotton ball but just using my fingers I get great results. I wouldn't say I wear a ton of eye makeup but this stuff gets it all off. My eyes can be fairly sensitive and yet this never irritates them or else that would be it. Since I use it in the shower and wash my face after my eyes I have not experienced any greasiness. Another plus for me is it fits within the 4-ounce travel requirement. I briefly considered trying Lancome's Bi-Facil but I realized it would be wasting money when I have such a top notch, dirt cheap product already!

Fragrances -Lancome - Ô D'Azur
rated 5 of 5
bebedejuin 11/12/2012 11:51:00 PM

I am in love with this fragrance! To me it smells like sweet roses and peony. I don't really pick up on the citrus notes. This is meant to be a summer fragrance but I don't really buy into the seasonal perfume philosophy so I will wear this whenever I want to smell refreshingly feminine. I much prefer this to the original O de Lancome which smells like a vetiver nightmare. If you're obsessed with reviews like I am, you'll notice there aren't really any negative comments on this fragrance, it's either overwhelmingly positive or that it's nothing remarkable but still pleasant. In my opinion O d'Azur is just a beautiful, opulent fragrance and I'm thrilled to have it in my collection!

Mascara -Bare Escentuals - buxom lash
rated 5 of 5
bebedejuin 11/12/2012 11:26:00 PM

I love this mascara! I had never heard of Buxom before going to Sephora but I liked the look of the brush and at the urging of my mom who was shopping with me, I splurged and bought it. Like I said, I like the chunky brush and feel like it applies easily. I also love how it's darn near impossible to clump this mascara. My Revlon Grow Luscious mascara yields a similar look but at the expense of easily clumped lashes. Buxom's formula goes on smoothly and you can get by with a single coat but can just as easily layer the coats for an even more dramatic look. My naturally thin, short lashes look volumized, defined, and lengthened! So this is what it's like to have a high end mascara! Also, not sure if there's a waterproof formula but this stuff washes off very easily. If I forget to wash it off at night, it'll be mostly gone by morning...yet it lasts all day at work!

Scrubs -Noxzema - Clean Blemish Control Daily Scrub
rated 5 of 5
bebedejuin 11/12/2012 11:10:00 PM

I love this face wash! I don't really get blemishes anymore per se (knock on wood) but I do have blackheads. This cleanser is mild enough to not be drying but effective enough to help clear your skin. I especially love the texture of the scrub - the grains are finely milled and non-abrasive. It doesn't have much of a scent which I appreciate. It's also formulated for adult skin which might be why it's not too harsh.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - DML Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
bebedejuin 11/12/2012 11:02:00 PM

I was given a sample of this at my dermatologist's office this summer. I quickly used it up and bought a full size tube. This is a fantastic moisturizer for sensitive skin! I find that it moisturizes well but isn't greasy and doesn't clog pores. I love how creamy it is without feeling too heavy. It smoothes out my mild psoriasis/eczema on my forehead. It also has spf which is helpful. I will certainly repurchase!

Cleansers -Noxzema - Original Skin Cream
rated 4 of 5
bebedejuin 11/12/2012 10:55:00 PM

I have started wearing Revlon Colorstay foundation and my research revealed one needs an oil based cleanser to fully remove long-wearing makeup. I came close to trying the OCM but backed out after reading breakout horror stories. The same applied for Ponds cold cream. Noxzema seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews so here I am. This stuff makes washing my face so FUN! I thoroughly enjoy feeling the cream melt into my skin. I rub it in as directed and either let it sit a few minutes like a mask or go ahead and tissue it off, checking the tissue for signs that it's removing my foundation. Then I dampen a washcloth and lightly exfoliate then rinse. I have been using it for a week and already see a marked decrease in the number of blackheads on my face. The formula IS a little drying to my t-zone but I use my new Lancome Tonique Douceur toner and it smoothes everything out. One of my friends even told me my skin looks exceptionally smooth now! She's a beauty buff so that was high praise! Also I have mild psoriasis on my forehead and Noxzema does not irritate it.
