Liquid -Clarins - Everlasting Foundation SPF 15
barbie16 2/26/2010 12:45:00 PM
After reading great reviews about this I got a sample in the Ivory shade. My skin is very pale, sensitive, oily and acne prone, so I like a long lasting foundation that is pale enough for me. The colour was pretty good, a little yellow but not unatural looking. The foundation 'sets' very quickly on the skin and feels powdery. It also smells strongly but I didn't mind the smell. Unfortunately after putting this on my skin felt warm, but this went away after a while. After a couple of hours of wear my nose was a little shiny so I patted on some powder, However this caused the foundation on my nose to come away, leaving my skin looking a mess. The foundation also seemed to highlight all the bumps in my skin and did not cover redness well. For an 'everlasting' foundation it is not great if it comes off after a few hours. My skin is oily but no foundation has been that bad before. I washed it off as soon as I got home but some spots have appeared and my skin feels irritated. I wanted to love this foundation but even if my skin could tolerate it, it just doesn't last at all. I am still yet to find a long-lasting foundation pale and natural enough for me, this definitely isn't it!

Masks -Boots - Botanics conditioning clay mask
barbie16 11/19/2007 8:16:00 AM
I love this mask but I only use it once a week and leave it on for 2 mins tops, any longer and it leaves my sensitive skin really red. It does a great job of deep cleaning skin, just be cautious if you have very reactive skin as it might irritate it and cause rosacea to flare up if you leave it on for ages. Remember to shake it first too as it separates and goes runny in between uses!

Eyeliner -Prestige - Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal Brown
barbie16 10/30/2007 4:31:00 PM
The only pencil eyeliner I use. I panicked when my local Boots store stopped selling it and tried to find an alternative but no other pencils come close. Fortunately I've found it in a different shop! The colour is a dark brown without the harshness of being black. The texture is amazing, it just glides on to the skin and is easy to apply and blend. It also stays put all day on my oily skin. I stopped my mum from spending a fortune on a Chanel liner and told her to get this instead, now we're both hooked! It is a bargain price for such a quality product.

Hair -Neal's Yard - Oak Bark dried herb
barbie16 10/30/2007 10:29:00 AM
I'd read that Oak Bark is a natural hair dye and conditioner for dark hair. I bought a pack of the dried herb from Neal's Yard (about £1.50) and put about 2 tablespoons of it into a saucpan and simmer it in water for about 15 mins. I then strain the herbs out and let the lquid left cool down. Then after shampooing my hair I pour the liquid (basically oak bark tea!) over my hair and rub it in and leave for 5 mins. I then wash it out thoroughly. I was sceptical but the next day my hair felt wonderfully silky and conditioned and was super shiny. Unlike expensive chemical conditioners the effect doesn't wear off and my hair still feels in great condition. It also slightly darkened my hair as well and took out the slightly red tinge. I am thrilled I've found such a cheap hair conditioner that is 100% natural and good for the hair.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Phyto Corrective Gel
barbie16 10/12/2007 5:58:00 AM
I've been using this for about 4 months now and I love it. I have acne rosacea and it is great for calming the burning and redness of my skin. I have also had very few breakouts since using it, so my skin seems to finally be a bit under control (though that could be down to the Aknicare range I also use). Red marks left by acne are starting to fade and my complexion defintiely has a brighter, more even appearance. I am prone to seasonal dryness caused by central heating and air conditioning but my skin seems to be coping better with it. I think you need to use only a few drops of this product and give it a few months to work. I have very oily skin and this seems to help with it a bit. My skin reacts badly to things like retinol and this is soothing and calming, and my skin feels so healthy and soft when I rub it in. It might not work for every skin type, then again these products aren't supposed to work miracles. I buy trial sizes off ebay as it works out much cheaper!

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
barbie16 4/16/2007 7:34:00 AM
I've read great things about Double Wear and I want a long-lasting good coverage foundation. I was matched by an Estee Lauder assistant to the lightest cool shade Shell, and in the shop the shade looked great on my skin so I bought it. Huge mistake! Estee Lauder are yet another company who produce ridiculous pale shades. Shell looks bright pink on my pale skin in daylight, and the other pale shades are way too yellow. The staying power seems good, but it is so hard to wash off (even with my powerful cleanser). The shade is so bad in daylight that I have only used it once, yet I now have horrible cystic acne on my cheeks (I only usually get the occasional spot). So now I have wasted £20 and have awful skin. My search for a long-lasting, medium coverage foundation in a realistic pale colour goes on!

I really like this product, it glides onto the skin and enhancs my foundation on my very pale skin. Unfortunately it is very heavily fragranced and I think this is what caused me to break out, so a total waste of money.

I am very disappointed with this foundation. I have oily skin but this was far too drying for it, causing me to break out. It is impossible to apply evenly as it dries fast and doesn't blend. I have pale skin and tried the lightest shade Limpide, however this was far to yellow and dark. This really isn't worth the money, I'll stick with my Maxfactor Lasting Performance.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
barbie16 11/1/2005 2:05:00 PM
This foundation does what it says: it stays put and covers really well. However it is IMPOSSIBLE to blend and sinks into pores, and I'm normally a pro at applying foundation!. It also feels really heavy on the skin and kiond of tacky to touch. The only plus is that the shade Ivory really is pale enough for me, and not a dodgy orange colour like most over companies' palest offerings. Definitely not a re-buy, and for £11 it does not justify it's price tag at all.

Amazing! I have very fine hair that frizzes if the air is at all damp. I used this on dry hair before and after straightening it and it made my hair soft and shiny. Plus it hardly frizzed even tho it was raining. A definite must-have!

I have fine, long, highlighted hair and this does absoultely nothing for me. I haven't noticed any great difference in condition after using it, if anything my hair is fluffy and harder to manage. It might be too heavy for my hair, but I wasn't impressed at all.

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Shimmer Cubes - Warm
barbie16 8/28/2005 11:14:00 AM
I love these colours, I've had them over a year and there's loads left so a real bargain for £12. The gold makes a great bronzer for the summer. I use the pinky taupe colour as a base on my eyes, the use the dark brown as a smudgy eyeliner which looks amazing on dark eyes. I love the shimmer and flecks of gold in all the colours. My only complaint is the packaging as it comes apart if you try and take it anywhere, and some of the lids on the eyeshadows have cracked.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Visibly Clear Exfoliating wash
barbie16 8/28/2005 9:04:00 AM
My fail-safe cleanser. Removes all dirt and foundation, leaving my skin soft and smooth. My skin looks much clearer and although I've been tempted by other products, I asways come back to this as it removes any dryness caused by winter. I really rate this and the price is great too.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Liquid Eyeliner
barbie16 8/28/2005 8:03:00 AM

I was looking for a dark brown liquid eyeliner and since this was on offer I decided to give it a go. Black/Brown is nice and dark, but not quite balck as I find this too harsh on me. The applicator is much harder than a brush and takes some practice to get a good line, but now I can easily create gorgeous feline eyes with one stroke of thie eyeliner. The only problem is that it runs very easily in rain, apart form that I love it. A great quality product for the price, and some gorgeous colours to choose from.

Masks -Elemis - Papaya Enzyme Peel
barbie16 8/27/2005 4:08:00 PM
This is essentially an exfoliator but you apply it like a mask and leave for 10-15 mins. I didn't feel anything working but when I washed it off I had beautifully soft skin. The next day my skin looked glowing and much healthier. Definitely a great buy if you want a good exfoliating mask for once a week. Quite expensive but worth every penny for glowing, youthful skin.
