Concealers -Laura Geller - Real Deal Full Coverage Cream Concealer

I have dark circles and have experimented with so many concealers from cheaper drug-store brands to expensive department store brands. I found this at Ulta and thought I'd give it a try. I really like it. I always found myself touching up a few times a day, but now I use it in the morning and pretty much leave it alone. If I do need a touch up, I have the Lancome wand that does well, but doesn't have enough staying power to start the day with. This concealer can be a bit heavy, and I want to emphasize that you only need a teee-niny amount. A little dab'll do ya! I had a difficult time at first with this and squeezed out way too much. Took awhile to learn to control it. I'm a mature woman, so I have to be careful with heavy concealers looking too pasty on me. After getting control of the amount, I do fine with it now. Would definitely buy again.

Crème -Cover Girl - AquaSmooth SPF15 Make-up
rated 4 of 5
barbandrusty 8/14/2009 6:11:00 PM

I just started using this after using higher end department store brands and Arbonne for several years. My sister, who is in her 60's had switched from an incredibly expensive foundation to this and I thought her skin looked so pretty, so I found out what she was using. I'm very satisfied with it so far. I have a real problem with their packaging, there is NO color chart or any way to test. The compact is sealed up in the package, there were no colors shown except for some "bubbles" on the package which were totally worthless! I started looking for the same colors on their liquid foundation and opening and trying out those. I would have totally bought the wrong color if not because I always think I'm more fair than I am. It's still a bit too light, but I'm used to it now. I use a bronzer on my cheeks and seems to even everything out. I will buy again, but I have a REAL beef about the packaging and rated it a 1. It's like asking you to buy clothes without a mirror!

Mascara -Avon - SuperFULL Mascara

I really like this mascara. I bought it off of Ebay so I could try it out without paying full price. I thought it could have lasted a bit longer before drying out, but I'm going to buy one new from the Avon store in my mall, thinking that the one from Ebay may not have been fresh.

Shampoo -Arbonne - Daily Self-Adjusting Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 2/13/2006 8:10:00 PM

This shampoo/conditioner is fabulous. My hair is so much more managable, bouncy - I get compliments on it almost daily. I live in South Florida (can you belive I'm sitting here freezing my butt off right now?) and since I didn't start using it in the heat of the summer and humidity, only time will tell. But so far no matter what the weather, my hair does great. Anyone expecting a great lather will be disappointed - it doesn't have a heavy detergent base, so it may appear that it's not cleaning, but I've found that a good first wash, then a light second soaping does the trick. And the conditioner is great.

Liquid -Arbonne - Line Defiance Foundation
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 12/4/2005 5:44:00 PM

I've definitely found my HG foundation, after searching for oh so long! My sister turned me on to Arbonne, and so far everything I've tried has been first rate. I was using Lancome Absolue - was on my second jar when I started with Arbonne's skin care routine. Not sure if the Lancome wasn't compatible or what, but I was looking soooo bad. Mid-day, would have to do an overhaul and just felt like I looked haggard, the Lancome seemed to just sit on my face (and come off on my phone!). I was feeling pretty bad about myself, and was questioning the Arbonne routine. My sister matched my Lancome color with the Arbonne shade (11C) and ordered it for me (I have the distributorship, but don't want to bother selling right now). The next day, after doing my morning routine and using the Arbonne foundation (which went on like a dream and matched perfectly) I couldn't believe how low maintenance I was that day! Didn't do one touch-up, went shopping afterward and every mirror I that caught my eye - I couldn't believe how good my face still looked! It's taken several years off my complection - and I'm not exagerating one bit. I also can't emphasize how lightweight the foundation is, although I'm over 50 and need moderate coverage - it delivers that without ever feeling heavy. I'm definitely a convert. I'm going to order it in the stick to keep handy at work on those high-humidity days here in S. Florida!

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 2 of 5

Like some reviewers, I thought I had found a miracle when I first started using this. I loved it at first - my skin felt so smooth and tight. But after using it for awhile, it started looking and feeling really dry. I have dry skin, and I just don't think this is for my type of skin at at all.

Crème -Lancome - Absolue Foundation
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 6/5/2005 12:53:00 PM

I also really love this foundation, and the Ecru 20 matches perfectly. I find I don't have to touch up during the day. I was fortunate to find it on Ebay at half the price, but now will be willing to pay full price when a good "gift" comes up. I've been using Revelon Skinlights underneath and my complexion looks better than it has in a long time.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Dickinson's Witch Hazel
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 1/1/2005 11:17:00 PM

I've been using witch hazel (not familiar with Dickinson's) for about 2 years. My girlfriend owns a salon in Miami and suggested it. The woman who does facials in her shop only uses witch hazel - no other toner. She buys it by the gallon for her. I'll never ever buy an expensive toner again. Everyone should try it.

Liquid -Lancome - Renergie Lift Makeup SPF 20
rated 4 of 5
barbandrusty 12/5/2004 6:42:00 PM

I kinda go back and forth on this, mainly because at over 50, I still want something that makes me look drop deal gorgeous! Ain't out there, I'm afraid. Anyway - I started using and was very, very happy with the color (Dore 10)- the only thing I think I've ever used that was just perfect. But, I longed for that youthful, dewy, no lines, no wrinkles look so I thought I missed my clinique Superfit and went went back to it for awhile. I also had on hand L'Oreal's true match which is supposed to compare to Lancome's foundation (forget which one) and alternated with Clinique. After a few weeks, I was just feeling old, old, old - like I needed a major makeover. Yesterday I was getting ready to go to an anual Christmas get-together with my girlfriends and spouses and I stopped by the Lancome counter and bought it. (Bonus-they had an unadvertized GWP!) I really looked and felt so much better so I know that this is the one for me - until something better comes along! Didn't give it the very highest rating because I don't think I've found my HG, but until then I will repurchase it.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Waterproof Mascara in Soft Black [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 7/28/2004 10:09:00 PM

I bought this because of the rave reviews and I really love it. I've been using Lancome for quite awhile just because I keep getting it in GWP, but like this just as much. I recently found a heated eyelash curler that does great, so two dramatic changes have made such a difference in my eyelashes. So glad the MUA reviewers turned me on to this mascara!

Brows -Maybelline - Ultra Brow Brush On Color
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 6/16/2004 10:02:00 PM

I just discovered this little product. After spending about $20 on an eyebrow pencil from Lancome, which I do like but never could quite master, I went looking at Target and found the Maybelline brow powder in light brown. I don't have hardly any brows left after the arch for some strange reason - never overplucked - just another one of those annoying things that come with age. Lose hair where you need it and grow it where you don't!!This goes on really nice and natural and is soooo easy to use!

Fragrances -Tabu - Tabu by Dana cologne splash
rated 1 of 5
barbandrusty 6/3/2004 7:32:00 PM

This cologne makes me sick and always has. When my hubby and I were first married (30+ years ago) we went to a New Year's Eve party and we sat next to a girl who had taken a bath in it (I knew it from my teen years when I wore it). I thought I was going to gag - I got so sick. My husband absolutely hates it and we've remembered that scent ever since and still joke about it when we want to compare a perfume to the most hideous scent we can think of. I honestly didn't know they even still make it until I happened on it recently at Eckerds. I have not smelled it on anyone in years and years, and I would recognize it right away.

Lipstick -Avon - Beyond Color
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 4/30/2004 11:28:00 PM

I just bought this after seeing it reviewed on the Today Show. It does plump up my lips - no doubt about it. I don't have thin lips. For once something God gave me is actually in style - full lips! (I'll have it made if cellulite ever comes into vogue!) I wanted something to plump out the lines in my dry, mature (hate that term) lips. This really does the job and I noticed the difference in how my lipstick looked right away. The color I have is a no color, sheer, nude. Couldn't find a color listed on the tube.) I can only see very, very little color and doesn't affect my lipstick color much. I bought it at an Avon store in the mall and they were on special, 2 for $10. My lips do look smoother and fuller. Really a nice look.

Polishes -Maybelline - Wet Shine nail color
rated 5 of 5
barbandrusty 4/26/2004 9:37:00 PM

I guess I'm just wimpy when it comes to nail polish - due to my fair skin and my stubby fingers. I only wear natural colors. I have several bottles of the same color but wasn't satisfied - mostly because of streaking. When I saw this in the grocery store I was intrigued with the "wet shine" so I bought yet another nude, soft pink color. I was so surprised - went on much better than OPI - and less than $4.00. I'm going back to try some of the others and maybe even venture out and add a little color!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Love Spell
rated 3 of 5
barbandrusty 4/25/2004 5:03:00 PM

I always tell my gift-giving friends I don't want to smell like a fruit or a vegetable. But I had to try this one because of all the rave reviews. I tried the lotion and body spray and strolled through the mall to allow time to get used to it. I still have the same feeling about fruity scents. I'll stick to Heavenly, or other softer fragrances. I may like this if I smelled it on someone else, but it's not for me. Guess I need to add Koolaid to my list of things I DON'T want to smell like! :0)
