Foundations -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Glow Sheers SPF 30

I have combo skin with yellow undertones and wanted sheer/light/matte coverage. This tinted moisturizer (in Light to Medium) fulfills ALL my needs and leaves me looking healthy and glowing throughout the day. I just have to blot my face once in the afternoon and I am good for the rest of the day. The shimmers are very subtle and for the most part, my face is matte, natural and healthy looking. It is very easy to apply and distribute with my fingers and a little goes a long way. I suggest distributing it evenly throughout the face, leaving the sensitive area underneath the eyes alone. After you are done, put some product on your middle finger (or your ring finger), then gently pat the product on underneath the eye area. This gives the area underneath the eyes better coverage to cover over any dark shadows and is a gentler application method. I wear it alone because I find that it is a bit shiny and oily with a moisturizer underneath. However, this is true with all tinted moisturizers so this is not a negative feature particular to this product. If I decide to wear it with a moisturizer underneath, I make sure to blot my entire face with blotting paper after I apply the Glow Sheers and before I apply my bronzer and blush. It is usually fine after that.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free

I wanted to love LM TM so much! I keep reading all the rave reviews and thinking that this has to work for me. I wanted sheer coverage for my oily face. This was super thick out of the tube and spread on my face even thicker. The SA told me that this product provided more coverage than some foundation, but that it's still pretty sheer, uh...no. I have tried tons of liquid foundations, this was way thicker than any of them! I tried putting it on with my fingers, with a foundation brush, with a stippling brush, etc...nothing worked. It is still too thick and leaves my face looking like I'm wearing a mask, a nasty, oily, shiny, slightly different color, mask. I tried various shades, cannot find one that worked for me either, which adds to my frustration. Arggg! My friend told me (I really don't know why I believed her) that the regular LM TM w/ oil is better for you, and goes on better than the oil-free one. It didn't. I didn't really notice a huge difference between the thickness, shininess and ease of application between the two.

Tinted Moisturizer -DuWop - Revolotion Face
bajomono 4/18/2007 10:27:00 AM
About me: I have super oily skin in my T-Zone and combo/dry skin around my mouth and chin. What I wanted: sheer to medium coverage. This was perfect for my needs! I tried everything from sheer liquid foundations to various tinted moisturizers (yes, even Laura Mercier) and I found this to be the best. Oil-free and regular LM were both too greasy and thick for me. Application method: I blend Revolotion on my face from the inside out with my fingers (what the makeup artist recommended) and Revolotion gave me the perfect natural coverage and left a nice matte finish that looks moisturized (not dry and flaky like some matte products). Underneath the Revolotion, I use Clinique Superdefense for sun and environmental protection, and then Philosophy The Present - Clear Powder on top of that before applying Revolotion. This technique and product combo leaves my skin matte and dry for at least several hours. When my skin gets a little shiny mid-day, I bust out my Tarte Little Blot Book, use a single blotting sheet to blot my nose and forehead. Then apply a very thin layer of powder on my nose and upper cheeks and forehead. This leaves my skin perfectly dry the rest of the day.

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation

When the SA put the foundation on me, I thought I had found my HG. I have been looking for and trying everything under the sun for a good base for oily skin and this gave me the perfect sheer matte look. However, when I got home and tried putting it on myself, I realized that although it does provide a nice sheer coverage, the foundation sank into my skin right away and emphasized all the minor imperfections and enlarged my already massive pores. The foundation would be fine if everyone around me was standing at least a foot away. After wearing the foundation for several days, I also noticed that my skin got extremely dry and flaky. As much as I would like to love this product, as it was so hyped up by the SA, I could not and had to return it.

Lip Treatments -Murad - Murad Energizing Pomegranate Lip Therapy SPF 15

I don't know why the other reviewers are so in love with this product. The only reason why I am not returning it is because I lost the receipt. Now I am stuck with an expensive product that leaves my lips even drier than before I started using it. The smell and taste are pleasant though, but I just figured for $15 it should do something more than the average chapstick. My lips are still dry and flaky and this product does nothing for it. It is still extremely cold and windy here in the MidWest so maybe it's not the product's fault. I will update and see how it holds up in the summer time.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

So it's not a miracle worker and it might be expensive for a mascara but it's still a great product. The first time I tried it, I wasn't really impressed but that was probably because I was expecting too much from it. I read all the magazine and online reviews about how wonderful it is and expected it to transform my short thin Asian eyelashes into beautiful exotic fake eyelash looking ones (which it didn't). However, I tried it again the next day, with more realistic expectations this time, and was amazed at how it separated and defined my eyelashes and made them stand out. I did not notice smudging throughout the day or the odd odor that was mentioned by other posts. The big brush did take some getting used to but its not unwieldy.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

Love it, love it! I get bored once in a while and try to use other brands but I keep coming back to this product. I recently tried the Laura Mercier (more expensive and highly praised) version and that has a slightly lighter coverage but that was not much better for was not worth the almost doubled price. Maybe once I start working I can try it again. For now, MAC is great and serves my needs. I have oily skin and although the oil peeks through after several hours, I just simply apply translucent powder on top or blot my face with oil absorbing powder and that'll last me through the day. I have cried with it on and it does not leave streaks on my face like many other products. It does tend to be heavy once in a while if you accidently apply too much but you just need a different brush in that case. You can go to Sephora and buy the brand's massive powder blush which can distribute the powder more thinly and evenly. I love that there are so many colors to choose from in this line and since my face changes color very frequently depending on the amount of sun I get throughout the year, I might have to vary a shade up or down and that can get extremely expensive if I used any other product. Overall, best for your money.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
bajomono 4/8/2007 1:26:00 AM
The overall finished look of this product on my face was very inconsistent, but it is generally too heavy for me. It also looked extremely shiny and oily on my oily skin. I was looking for something that could give me a sheer to medium coverage but this was more along the lines of medium to heavy. Maybe if I had tried adding a foundation primer beforehand and/or used a lighter moisturizer underneath and/or add water to it, etc... I might have been able to blend it better into my skin. Nevertheless, I did not want to spend more than 5 minutes applying my foundation on my face. I wanted something easy to apply with just a few strokes and this was not it. As an Asian female with light skin (this time of year - beginning of spring), it was also difficult to find the right color for me in this foundation line (I was fluctuating between the sunny beige and vanilla beige and neither looked good on me). I just tried the new Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 today and loved it (but, it is too soon to tell).
