I managed to get a sample of this from the YSL counter in Boots and loved it from the start so went and brought the full size (see samples do work so please would brands/store/staff please hand them out more instead of the unfriendly "no we don't give samples" ) Its got a similar brush t the l'oreal false lash telescopic, in-fact this mascara is very similar in formula and results...this has the edge though for giving amazing length with no dry-ing or flakes...i have applied this in several layers and it didn't clump up or go horrid..it just makes you eyelashes thicker as well as longer...you can be as natural or dramatic as you want with this. It fans your lashes out but does feel heavy hard or crispy. Its pricey £24 but IMO worth it. It removed easily enough and hasn't irritated my eyes.
used to love this till they reformulated it...now its horrible, greasy, thin, terrible coverage, see my review on the 2012 version in the reviews on this....
Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear (new formula 2012)
bagpuss21 4/19/2013 3:40:00 PM
What have they done !!!!!! This was the perfect foundation....was. This used to look amazing buffed into my skin, only a little was required...i used to hear people say ohh its so thick and heavy and mask like and i thought well you are using too much then...it used to keep shine at bay, it used to cover like nothing else, it used to last all day, in fact it used to get better as the day went on. Then they messed with the formula as well as the shades....WHY Now as i am trying to apply it its streaking and slipping and almost like its coming back off on my brush, then its just sits on top of your skin with this horrible shiny residue. I didn't need a concealer before and now i do as the coverage isn't as good, i have resorted to trying a primer to get it to look like it used too but that didn't work either. Its like they listened to all those people who didn't like it and adjusted it for them regardless of those of us who loved it. Even the EL staff at stores have said its not like it was and that lost of customers have complained. I have wrote to EL about this and just get fobbed off with it hasn't changed....really....? so why has it gone down from a 5 star rating to a 2.5 star rating on estee lauder .com in the last few months...??????? I have hunted round and think i have found my replacement in the Smashbox studio skin hydrating foundation... it wasn't broke, why did you fix it !!!......
Fragrances -Soap and Glory - Girligo Body Moisturizing Mist
bagpuss21 3/9/2013 5:20:00 PM
I adore this product, its quick easy smells amazing and makes your skin so soft. it lasts for ages on your skin and gives it a lovely glow, its a man magnet if you ask me..my hubby loves it as much as i do...he said the smell is devine. I use it every time i have had a bath/shower all over my body, it never stings after shaving like some moisturizers do and for those saying its hard to spray with slippery hands, simple...spray it all over your body, where you want it, then put it away and then rub it in, instead of spraying, rub, spray, rub, thats why your hands are slipping on the bottle. I will continue to use this as long as they continue to make it. x
Lip Gloss -Soap and Glory - sexy mother pucker gloss stick
bagpuss21 2/23/2013 7:45:00 AM
I have this in the shade Nudist...its the perfect my lips but better nude shade but not that foundation nude ... its super glossy, smells amazing (vanilla) easy to use, no mirror required, twist up, leaves your lips soft and never dries them out. Its like a really glossy balm, not massively pigmented but i use a lipstick for that, This is just a fantastic everyday lip product that does it all. Big bold statement here but to date..this is my favorite lip product ever. Picture found on google images belongs to thesundaygirl.com
Liquid -La Roche Posay - Toleriane-Corrective Fluid Foundation
bagpuss21 2/23/2013 7:23:00 AM
I started of with the vichy dermablend version of this and hated t as it went shiny even after setting with a powder. When i saw this La Roche Posay one in boots i decided to try it to see if it was any better ... IT IS. Its amazing coverage, doesnt go shiny at all, lasts very well too. I dont use this as my foundation, all over i think could look a little too much, i use this before my foundation as a concealer....red marks..GONE...dark under eyes...GONE....spots...GONE....just use this on the areas you need too...let it dry, then go over with your regular foundation....flawless skin all day. Its amazing !! I got this in 10 ivory (its slightly yellow but thats great becouse it fades out any red) the next shade up is 11 light beige and is more pink....and i am about a nw20
I lusted over this for almost a year as i couldn't justify spending that much on a concealer when i already owned so many that worked well but on a recent trip to Selfridges i caved in and purchased it. Wish i hadnt bothered, it doesn't live up to the hype at all. Its a lovely compact, you appear to get a decent amount of product and it does cover on first contact....but !!! as soon as you touch it to blend it disappears....it just doesn't stay on my skin. I apply, looks great, blend, gone, apply again, looks great, blend and gone...just useless. Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer is far better than this. I don't rate it at all.
Cleansers -Vichy - Purete Thermale Purifying Foaming Cream Cleanser
bagpuss21 1/18/2013 7:00:00 PM
This is a thick cream like mouse that feels really nice on the skin, smells lovely and does a great job of removing makeup, although it can sting if it gets in your eyes a little. This makes your skin so smooth and soft that you'll think you just had a treatment not washed your face. Its great for my oily skin and hasn't broke me out. I adore it so much.
Primer/ Corrector -Nivea - Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer
bagpuss21 12/9/2012 7:30:00 AM
I adore this gel like primer...its so light and fresh to use. I have the one for oily skin and use it on clean dry skin, i pat it on and let it dry (its dries super quick and is not in the slightest bit oily) its dries matte and is excellent base for foundation. it has a flowery smell which i dont mind and it hasn't made me break out or go red or anything. Its so cheep and soo good. If you have oily skin you should really try this. (the blue one is for oily skin the pink one is for dry skin)
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Indeed Laboratories - Hydraluron
bagpuss21 12/9/2012 7:23:00 AM
I managed to get a sample of this from Boots, I carry little MAC tester pots around with me and sample everything before i hand over my hard earned cash on a promise of miracles only to find its rubbish and i cant get my money back. If its as good as they say them samples shouldn't be a problem because samples = sales...and after using this clear unscented looks like nothing gel for a few days i rushed out to purchase a full size. My skin is oily and starting to age,,(40) my issues where not hydration as such but lack of something...this gel plumps your skin, smoothes it and has balanced the oiliness i had so that i dont even powder after foundation anymore...its certainly not made my skin dry, but it has balanced the oiliness i had. I apply this to a clean slightly damp face and pat it in..leave to dry and then add my moisturizer. I highly recommend this..even if you just grab a squirt in a jar to try...x
Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte + Natural Minerals in #004 Sandstorm
bagpuss21 9/20/2012 7:05:00 PM
This blows MAC MSFN out the water....with MAC MSFN i get shiny within the hour...looks fab at first then those damn minerals just make my oily skin glow like nothing else...but even though Rimmel Stay Matte with natural minerals has minerals in it doesnt make me glow like other mineral products do. It never looks cakey, it hasn't broke me out, its SO CHEAP, I have 1 in my makeup draw, 1 in the car 1 in my handbag...you can afford to as they are so cheap. I wish the packaging was a little more sophisticated but thats my only grumble. I use this over my Estee Lauder double-wear (tawny) and it sets it beautifully without looking powdery...it photographs very well, and when used with a powder puff and pressed onto the face it makes pores disappear and skin looks flawless.
This product was ok..i guess, but on their website it says this is oil free...but in the ingredients it has 2 different types of oil....??? i have found this alot with products like these, they might say oil balancing or oil control but that doesn't mean oil FREE....although like i said on Simple's website they do list this under oil free and it isn't. Dont go by what it says on the front of the label, spin it over and read the ingredients.
Primer/ Corrector -Dermablend - Corrective Foundation
bagpuss21 7/10/2012 4:40:00 PM
looks great for about 1 hour...then its just a very oil mess thats sliding off my face.....even when set with powder. It covers great, i love the colour, makes skin looks flawless but has no staying power at all on oily skin. TRY La Roche-Posay Toleriane Teint Corrective Fluid Foundation INSTEAD...ITS AMAZING
If you go to the Boots website you will see alot of praise for this product and I can see why, however I do feel some people where expecting a miracle..:) what it is is a primer that smells divine, feels smooth (non greasy at all) and kind of blurs away and softens the look of pores/fine lines and imperfections....now obviously if you already have great skin then you wont see much of a difference in your skin and also if you have really bad skin you wont see much of a difference...its a subtle smoothing of the skin thats seen...BUT that isnt what i love about this product...what is really amazing about this product is what it does to your foundation...it makes it last all day and has managed to keep my oily skin at bay ..... it hasn't broke me out either. It does smooth the skin, it does give a slight airbrushed look after your foundation..(alone i dont think the effect is noticeable) but it really makes your make up last and means you dont need powder. I would reccomend going into Boots and asking for a small amount to try...they gave me about a weeks worth (you only need a pea sized amount) I use it on bare, clean dry skin...i skip moisturizer when using this as i find i dont need both....smooth over skin and then wait a few mins...then apply foundation. Its about £20 for a small tube but it would last ages and when boots do their £5 off No7 vouchers it even better value.
I hated the original BB cream from Garnier, it was just a shiny greasy mess on my skin but this new formula for oily skin is amazing. It actually covers really well, lasts on my skin and doesn't go shiny or leave that greasy film on your skin. Its actually very matte which i like..i would rather add glow where i want it than try to remove glow ever few hours. You can build this up to a very good coverage without it looking thick or cakey. Its really very good.
