Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
rated 3 of 5

This used to be my hg foundation. I don't know what happened! Did the formula change? While it used to cover almost everything and have thicker consistency that lasted all day, now it seems much oilier and thin, and the coverage is low to medium at best. I don't know, maybe I just got a bad bottle, but my much needed full coverage foundation is no longer there. Plus, it broke me out which never happened before. Since I need the coverage, I won't buy this again.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee
rated 4 of 5
backhome22 10/15/2012 9:18:00 AM

I bought this hoping it would help out with my dry lips, while giving me a little more color than regular lip treatments. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the color. It had a lot more pigment than I expected. Creme Brulee is a pretty nude color that goes well with my fair skin without washing me out. However, I did expect it to be a little more moisturizing than it is. It's pretty thick and a litte waxy, and didn't last long. My lips are overly dry this winter, so maybe it will work better when they are in better shape. I took off one star because they market it as a balm and it wasn't really all that moisturizing and I had to reapply constantly. I do love it as a lipstick, and I will buy again for a reasonably priced, versatile nude color.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 2 of 5

This had very little coverage. The product is very greasy and didn't blend well. It sunk into my pores but slid off the rest of my face. I have combination skin, with lots of redness, blemishes, large pores and oiliness (all in the T-zone). I bought it because I love the regular colorstay foundation (better than any of my $50 Laura Mercier, Jan Marini, and Estee Lauder, and many more expensive foundations). I need full coverage that lasts and keeps the shine in check, which the original does. The whipped version does none of that and only accentuates my problems. However, I do like the glass jar it comes in. That is pretty much the only positive for me, so I won't repurchase.

Polishes -Revlon - Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel
rated 3 of 5
backhome22 10/11/2012 1:50:00 PM

The color is rich and beautiful with 2 coats, and the color goes on very even and easily with the consistency of the polish combined with the brush. However, it takes forever to dry, and even then seems like it stays gummy, which causes lots of nicks and chipping/peeling. It's a shame because the color (fall mood) is so gorgeous. I won't repurchase due to the fact that it stays so "gummy" and nails are easily ruined.

Concealers -Sonia Kashuk - All Covered Up Concealer
rated 2 of 5
backhome22 9/17/2012 12:51:00 PM

This is pretty much worthless as a concealer. It is completely sheer. It claims to have medium coverage, but I tried it on my undereyes to cover the purple, on blemishes to cover the redness, and on redder areas around my nose. EVERYTHING still showed through. The concealer did not help one little bit. Also it sunk in to the lines around my eyes where it caked up and made me look 20 years older with all the lines and wrinkles it seemed to emphasize. Since I can't return it, maybe I will try it out as an eyeshadow base. If you need any level of coverage, look elsewhere.

Moisturizers -Weleda - Skin Food
rated 3 of 5

I wanted to love this given all the good reviews. I was hoping it would help with breakouts and skin tone since a lot of people have said that it does wonders for them. For me, it just didn't. I have combo skin with breakouts on the chin. This is way too greasy for my face, and although I would say it did help somewhat with decreasing redness, it made me break out with very tiny whitheads all over my t-zone and made my face look like an oil slick even after letting it soak in. On the plus side, I liked how soft it made my neck and elbows. I also like the smell. I'll use the tube up on my body, but probably not my face anymore. Just not for me!

Cleansers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C Facial Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
backhome22 2/9/2011 12:46:00 PM

I don't have anything good to say about this, it just didn't work for me. Instantly after using it for the first time, my face stung and burned. It turned tight, bright red, and broke out in bumps and pimples and "burnt" dry patches of skin that seem to layers deep. It's been 4 days and my skin has not seemed to heal very much. I've been chugging water and moisturizing , but my skin still looks and feels terrible. The pump also didn't work which annoyed me right away. I have combo/sensitive skin that gets breakouts on my chin normally. This just didn't work on my skin. First and last time using this.

Self Tanners -Hawaiian Tropic - Island Radiance Self Tanner
rated 3 of 5

Although the color is a nice believeable golden brown, it did get a little streaky on me. I think maybe gel formulas don't work as well on my dry skin as creams do. Also it's sticky and takes a while to dry, which is a little annoying but not uncommon with self tanners. I would try this again if they discontinued my banana boat stuff (which is cheaper and better IMO). That said, the color is really great and it doesn't smell, so if gels normally work well on your skin I'd definately recommend this.

Bronzers -Sonia Kashuk - Golden Cream Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
backhome22 6/6/2007 1:40:00 PM

This bronzer works great for me! It doesn't cake or leave me looking dirty like powder bronzers do in the heat and humidity. The finish is a light, matte golden brown. I have slightly oily skin so it works great on me, however I would imagine that on dry skin it wouldn't stay on. My only complaint is that it came with a horrible hot pink cream blush, and I'd rather they gave you more of the bronzer and none of the ugly blush since I paid about 13 bucks and you don't get a lot of bronzer. I don't like that part, but the bronzer works good enough that I'll suck it up and pay for it. I'd buy it again.

Bronzers -New York Color - Bronzing Face Gel
rated 5 of 5
backhome22 6/6/2007 1:28:00 PM

Love this stuff! I was looking for a gel bronzer with no shimmer for the summer since my usual powders turn muddy in the humidity and heat. I picked this up for a mere $2.50 at Target. The color is very sheer, but dark enough to make an impact depending on how you apply it. The lighter the touch when blending it, the more color shows up. It also stays on all day without streaking which is key! I am going back to buy a bunch more in case they ever stop making this.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Natural Glow- Face
rated 4 of 5
backhome22 6/5/2007 10:43:00 PM

This works really well for me! I have light skin with pink/red undertones, and I got this in medium. The color matches the tan on my body perfectly ( I don't tan my face) , it's very natural looking! Also, I live in FL where the UV index is extreme, and even after a couple hours by the pool I didn't burn my face. I wouldn't trust it much longer than that thoguh. The only thing I didn't really like was that I had to apply it several times in one day in order to get any color since I wasn't willing to wait a week, and I apply it a couple times a day to keep it up since it does fade a bit each night when I wash my face. You don't need much to cover the entire face, though. But I think the natural color and the fact that it makes my skin feel great is worth it. Until I find something better, it's my HG of face tanners!

Bronzers -Everyday Minerals - Sparkle Bronzer
rated 2 of 5
backhome22 1/18/2007 3:46:00 PM

I don't know if they messed up my order or not, but when I got this it was a horrible grayish-plum color. It looked extremely ashy and the purple undertone made me look like like death. Maybe I just got a bad batch, as my everyday bronzer was great, but I have bought a second set of foundations from them, too and they were not the same color as the first time. Just be careful for color variations from this company!

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
backhome22 11/14/2006 7:24:00 PM

I have to say I love this! I used to use ID BareMinerals, and that gave me acne. This seems much more pure. The coverage is very natural looking, but does give full coverage at the same time. The price is fantastic, also! The only thing I don't like about it is that if you have oily skin anywhere (I do in my T-zone) it sometimes gets a little too shiny, but can be easily fixed in 5 seconds with a quick dusting in the area. I will keep buying this! ***Update- Once the weather got hotter and more humid, I was greasy within 2 minutes of putting this on! It also made me look "muddy" and splotchy. I still love it, but wouldn't recommend it in tropical weather.

Self Tanners -St.Tropez - 3 step tanning system
rated 3 of 5
backhome22 11/14/2006 7:18:00 PM

This set was $15 during a sale, and being a self tan junkie I had to try it for that price! The size is not that large, so for the regular price I think it's a bit too expensive. I have to say at first I was skeptical when I saw the color guide streaked and splotched all over me, but when I rinsed off I had a beautiful, even color! I think the key is not to rub it in too much.It also doesn't have any smell once it dries. I LOVE the way my skin feels with the lotion, and the exfoliating scrub really smoothed my skin. All three things have a scent to them, but it doesn't stay on you. It's not a bad smell, but I wouldn't wear it as perfume either! I'd say I'd buy this again for sure at the sale price, but for full price I wouldn't, as my banana boat tanner gives a similar color for much cheaper! Note- I put this on with no gloves, and if you wash right away with soap and warm water, the palms don't tan.

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Eyelash curler
rated 2 of 5
backhome22 10/22/2006 10:27:00 PM

This is horrible. I have to squeeze so hard and for such a long time it actually hurts my fingers,as well as blast it with the blow dryer, just to get a very slight curl. The pad is way too hard so it pinches and pulls out my eyelashes. It also does this wierd thing where it makes clumps of my eyelashes stick together, so when i wear mascara it produces the "tarantula" look. Not recommended.
