Eye Shadow -Laura Geller - Eye Stay Duos
rated 5 of 5

I originally received the Mocha/Champagne color duo as sample and liked it so much, I bought the full-size product. I have fair skin and this is very nice color combination for any skin tone, I think. I use the Champagne (light) color all over my lid and the Mocha (dark) on the eyelid crease for contrast and it looks great. It has great staying power and the packaging is convenient. If going away, you don't need to bring an eyeshadow primer, 2 different eyeshadows, an eyeshadow & contrast brush - just throw this in your bag and go.

Primer/ Corrector -DHC - Velvet Skin Coat
rated 4 of 5

I like a lot of DHC products and this is no exception. I use it as a primer underneath my foundation and it makes my foundation go on smooth. I'm not crazy about the little tube it comes in because when I go to squeeze out the primer, it shoots out in "spurts." If I had to choose though, between DHC Velvet Skin Coat and Smashbox's Photo Finish, Smashbox would be the winner. The consistency is slightly better as is the packaging. For comparison purposes, I also tried Laura Geller's primer and do not care for it mostly because of the consistency.

Treatments (Eye) -DHC - Eye Bright
rated 4 of 5
babyv7 1/23/2009 9:29:00 AM

I use this product as a primer under my eye concealer. I have very dark circles, so I have to use a concealer. But, it usually leaves my eye area looking dry as I have very dry skin, too. If I use an eye moisturizer under the concealer, by eyeliner runs eventually. I use DHC Eye Bright as a primer and it seems to work well. It doesn't do anything for dark circles or wrinkles, but as a primer I like it. It's a clear gel that I wear over eye moisturizer or alone, but always under my concealer. I'm happy with it.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer

I really like this product. It makes my foundation go on very smooth and I find that I don't have to use as much foundation. This seems to spread it out nicely using a small amount of foundation. I have very dry skin and I wouldn't say this is a moisturizing product, but it doesn't seem to make my skin any dryer than normal. Definitely worth checking out ladies.

Cleansers -Shiseido - The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam
rated 4 of 5
babyv7 1/23/2009 9:21:00 AM

I received this as part of a Shiseido 3-pack sample and I like it as it gave my skin that squeaky clean feel. However, I have very dry skin and I worry that it might be too drying. Since this was a single-use sample, I would have to try it over a period of time to see what the long-term effects on my skin are, but I do think I will buy it and see how it goes. I've been using DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil and moisturizing soap, but it's a 2-step process and getting to be a bit of a hassle. But, since it's literally oil it doesn't dry out my skin. I like Shiseido products overall and this definitely does a good job at cleaning off my makeup.

Toners -Shiseido - The Skincare Hydro-Nourishing Softener
rated 4 of 5
babyv7 1/23/2009 9:15:00 AM

I also received this as part of a Shiseido 3-part sample pack and I thought the consistency was interesting for a toner, then again this is labeled a softener lotion, so toner isn't really accurate, I guess. Anyway, it's a clear gel and I found that it smelled a bit like rubbing alcohol which made me nervous since I have very dry skin. However, after putting on my moisturizer, my skin did feel smoother compared to putting on my moisturizer alone. Will I buy the full-size product? I think I'll give it whirl. Shiseido seems to be fairly consistent in the quality of its products.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream
rated 2 of 5
babyv7 1/21/2009 11:32:00 AM

Not impressed & because they're comparing this to hundred dollar creams, I expected a lot more and received fair performance at best. I have very dry skin and this did an ok job. It's not great and I don't feel it's any better than a Cetaphil or other cheap moisturizer. I definitely wouldn't compare it to La Mer or La Prairie or Shiseido because it's nothing more than a high-priced department store moisturizer. I won't be buying it again.

Mascara -Bobbi Brown - No Smudge Mascara
rated 4 of 5
babyv7 1/21/2009 11:27:00 AM

I don't love this mascara, but I like it. It's the only non-waterproof mascara that keeps the curl in my lashes. I have to curl my lashes because they're pin straight and have found that only waterproof mascara holds the shape well. But, waterproof formulas are harsh & difficult to remove at the end of the day. BB No Smudge doesn't give a 'wow' effect & I do have to use a few coats, but it's good on a day where I don't feel like spending additional time removing my waterproof mascara & it gives my lashes a brake. It's also a little pricey. I wish I could find a store brand, non-waterproof version that holds the curl.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Ped Egg
rated 1 of 5
babyv7 5/5/2008 6:20:00 PM

I don't understand the hype associated with this product. My feet aren't really that bad and usually a decent food lotion and socks do the trick. But, the rave reviews on the Ped Egg made me want to give it a try. Dang! I fell for it again. I followed the directions and found that although there were shavings in the egg (about half falling outside of the egg onto the floor), it simply wasn't effective. I kept shaving over the same area for about 30-40 minutes while watching a movie and finally I just gave up because there was no noticeable improvement. After 30 minutes of shaving, I would have expected my foot to be shiny & smooth. Definitely not the case & definitely not worth the money. I'm returning it to Walgreens. I have to get back to my movie now.

Treatments (Eye) -Elizabeth Arden - Prevage Eye Anti-aging Moisturizing Treatment
rated 2 of 5
babyv7 11/28/2007 8:00:00 AM

I purchased this product based on the reviews here, but I have to say I'm very disappointed. I like the packaging very much. I like the feel of the eye cream, silky and smooth. It didn't irritate my skin (and I have very sensitive, dry skin). But, unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing for the fine lines around my eyes or crows feet. In all honesty, I think the lines have gotten worse. I've used Awake Eye Cream in the past with which I'm reasonably happy with the exception of the $100 price tag and would go back to Awake before spending another $100 on Prevage. I've also used La Prairie and again, I'd buy that line over Prevage.

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
babyv7 8/22/2007 12:32:00 PM

My HG of facial cleansers. I have very dry skin and this product works like a dream. It thoroughly cleans my face removing all traces of makeup. I don't even necessarily have to use a separate eye makeup remover to remove my waterproof mascara, because in a pinch, this would actually to the job. Even though it's oil, it rinses totally clean with water alone. But, I do follow up with the DHC soap, as well. Love it, love it, love it.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 4 of 5
babyv7 5/21/2007 8:13:00 AM

I agree with chilli. It's a good product, but when you compare it to Lumene Absolute Away remover, Lumene blows Lancome out of the water. Lumene is more gentle and less expensive and, IMHO, more effective at removing waterproof mascara, or any eye makeup for that matter. Save your money and give Lumene a try before Lancome - you'll be happy you did.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lumene - Absolute Away eye makeup remover
rated 5 of 5
babyv7 5/21/2007 8:05:00 AM

I really love this product. I've tried so many eye makeup removers and this one, so far, is my fav. I always wear waterproof mascara because they seem to be the only ones that actually hold a curl since my lashes are naturally very straight. I've tried everything from Maybelline to Shiseido to Bobbi Brown to Lancome because I need something heavy-duty to remove my mascara and this Absolute Away remover by Lumene is tops! I'm very happy with it. Yes, it's oily but if you're trying to remove waterproof makeup, a water-based remover will not work. The price of $5.99 at CVS is the icing on the cake. Try it - you'll like it.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
babyv7 11/3/2005 1:51:00 PM

I have very dry skin and eczema. This stuff is the best. It comes in a big container, so it's not travel friendly, but it looks like it'll last forever and it's a great price for what you get. It's fairly heavy; slightly less heavy than Creme de la Mer, but more slick. I've tried many moisturizers including Creme de la Mer, Estee Lauder, Pond's, Lancome, Jojoba Oil, Clinique, Vaseline, etc. and they either don't moisturize as much as I would like or they irritate my skin since it's very sensitive. Would definitely purchase again. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for someone with oily skin or even combination skin, but for dry skin, give it a try. It's worth it.

Treatments -Murad - Essential-C Daily Renewal Complex
rated 2 of 5
babyv7 4/6/2005 7:41:00 PM

I received a sample of this cream and found that it was irritating to my skin. I have sensitive, dry skin, so I do have to more careful than most when it comes to what I put on my face and this definitely made my skin burn. I tried it on several different occassions to see if it was just a bad day for trying something new, but each time it bothered me.
