Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Eye Shimmer- 02 - Gold

I've noticed a lot of the other reviews have said this is a "brilliant gold" but I've found that even when layered on the colour itself is still pale and soft, but definitely stands out. It is very beautiful. Looks lovely over other colours, I've especially liked it with browns and coppers. Like said by most of the others, it looks really good in the corners of my eyes or highlighting the brow bone. Although NZ$20 is alright, it is really a tiny amount you are paying for. That said, it looks like it will probably last a while - I think I'll use this daily :)

Primer/ Corrector -Lancome - La Base Pro

Another purchase of mine because of the rave reviews on here. Was definitely out of my normal budget. NZ$75 but I had a $20 voucher so I got it for $55. Silky soft to the touch, made my Body Shop liquid foundation glide on smoothly. Woke up this morning after going out last night, and looked in the mirror and was actually surprised - my makeup had stayed put over night. Normally when I drunkenly leave my makeup on over night I look terrible in the morning and the blush has all rubbed off, so it was a pleasant surprise to see how simply using this primer gave it staying power - blush and foundation stayed put while out dancing in town and while I slept.

Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pur Opium Red 131

I LOVE this lipstick. When on holiday in Australia I looked in so many stores trying to find the perfect red lipstick. Most were either too orange or too maroon looking. I came back with nothing. After reading the reviews on this site I decided to go find it. The makeup lady applied it and I loved it straight away. It was the perfect shade and looked great with my brown hair and pale skin. I''ve had compliments on it. Some have called in 1950s red, someone else said 1940s red and someone else said 1920s. Either way, if you'd like the beautiful old fashioned red lips, try this one. It is also lovely and soft, applies easily and smoothly and has a slight pretty sheen to it. Downside was spending NZ$58 on a lipstick - being a student and only working part-time, this wasn't really in my budget, but when I get rich I'll definitely buy again.

Eye Shadow -The Body Shop - Shimmer Cubes
rated 4 of 5

I bought the shimmer cubes Duty Free. I have used the dark brown every day for over a month, and it looks like I have not used it at all - so I know it will last a long time! Well worth the money. The four colours I got was a dark brown, slightly lighter brown, burnt copper colour and a pale gold. I use the dark brown almost daily as it gives a nice dark smokey eye, with a hint of shimmer that lasts most of the day. I also use the light gold almost daily on the inner corner of my eye and on the brow bone. The light gold is good for wearing alone, or with a black liquid liner. I find I have less use for the other two colours however. With all colours, at the end of the day they are still visible, but tend to have disappeared a bit. However it does not smudge onto my face. They apply dark and evenly, with colour depositing where I want it and not ending up on the rest of my face. I wet a body shop angled eyeshadow brush and lined my lower lashes with the dark brown as well, and when the product is wet it comes out much brighter and darker. I really love it.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Moisture Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5

I doubt I will ever buy another moisturiser, unless I am after a specialist one (such as anti-aging, or a shimmery one etc) because this is PERFECT. Lightweight, easily absorbed, oil-free and water based - it is lovely on the skin. Simple, yet effective. It instantly takes away the tight feeling I get from cleansing, and makes my skin feel soft. It does not feel heavy, or look greasy. A lovely moisturiser.

Blush -Natio - Natio Blusher in Rouge Glow
rated 4 of 5
babyfratelli 7/26/2009 7:28:00 AM

I had not worn blush much before I found this one, as the only ones I had tried had been pale pink, and that colour didn't look very nice. I tried the tester of the Natio Rouge Glow on my hand, and loved the look of it - a really shimmery golden rouge, the mixture of colours looked really nice together. I read somewhere that if you apply too much colour, blend it with powder, and when I first started using the product I found this happened with me - the colour went on quite a lot, but blending it out with powder fixed this, and left my cheeks looking healthy and shimmery with a nice hint of colour. I think it depends on how much you apply. as you can build up the colour. I no longer need to blend it with powder, just one light swirl on the blush, then a quick couple of swirls on the apple of each cheek is all I need. It looks much nicer than the lighter pinky blushes I've tried, and I will definitely buy it again.

Primer/ Corrector -Natio - GLOW Skin Brightening Face Balm
rated 5 of 5
babyfratelli 7/26/2009 7:17:00 AM

This is a review for Natio Glow Skin Brightening Face Balm I bought this for NZ$18 when I was looking for a primer, but didn't have much money. It said it can be worn under makeup, so I thought I'd give it a try. I put it on under foundation, and I instantly noticed the difference - my face looked dewy and glowy, and my foundation went on smoothly. As a moisturiser, it is really nice as it gives my skin a very subtle pick-me-up. It is not shimmer or golden, just a nice dewy pretty sheen. However I prefer my normal moisturiser, as this one leaves my skin feeling a little tight, though not at all dry. So I use this as a primer, not as a moisturiser. I sometimes put on my normal moisturiser, wait 20mins for it to set in and dry, then put the Natio Glow on before foundation. Great product, I recommend it.

Bronzers -Maybelline - Dream mousse bronzer glistening sun-10
rated 5 of 5
babyfratelli 7/26/2009 7:06:00 AM

I love this product and it will be a constant in my makeup bag - as soon as it runs out I'll buy more. The texture is really soft and light, and very easy to blend into the skin. It is not too sparkly, and gives a nice shimmery, bronzed healthy look. If I don't have time to put much makeup on I'll just dab this on my cheeks, forehead and chin and blend out, and I instantly look fresher and just nicer! It's great for if I've got a full face of foundation on too, and am looking quite pale, I'll wear it in the same way and I often don't need much else. Lasts ages, definitely worth buying. My only non-raving comment is - don't mix with a powder bronzer. I used thin lizzy bronzer to contour under my cheek, then put this over top and above on my cheeks, and it did not blend with the powder well. Nothing too bad though - didn't need to wipe it off and start over or anything. Anyway, love this!
