Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray

I used to use ths religiously last year, but after I moved back to California I must have forgotten about it? I noticed the other day that I had a lot of split ends and my hair just looked generally crappy so I went into my box of stuff I never unpacked and found this again. I'm so glad I did because its made a huge difference. My split ends are almost non-existent, my hair is definitely more shiny and softer and I really like the smell of the product. I blow dry and curl my hair almost every day so I know where all that damage was coming from... thank goodness I rediscovered this! Oh yeah, and this is super inexpensive so you know that's a bonus!

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
azunino228 2/8/2012 3:04:00 PM

I used this when I was a teen and somehow I stopped at some point but after going through a bunch of moisturizers that didn't work I have come back to Clinique's gel moisturizer. I love this stuff. Its perfect for my oily skin. It soaks right in and just feels comfortable. Its a little pricey but not nearly as pricey as some that I've tried. It smells clean and light and it perfect under makeup or at night before bed. So glad I found this again!

Pressed Powders -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Powder
rated 4 of 5
azunino228 3/4/2011 4:59:00 PM

I love this powder, I use the liquid in W4 and the powder in the same shade. I think the liquid is a tiny tiny bit too light but W5 would be way too dark so the fact that this powder does oxidize a bit (nothing drastic like other people have had) after about 20 minutes works out great for me! I also love the packaging because I put all my makeup on using a compact mirror and with a traditional compact I'd always be touching the powder with my fingers. This way i can flip over when I need to apply my powder and then the rest of the time the powder is safe on the other side while I utitize the mirror side. Perfect! Also, this compact stays open by itself, meaning if I set it down on my table to apply eyeliner (need both hands for this) it does'nt snap shut! I have sensitive acne prone skin and this hasn't make me break out, looks natural, great color match (hard to find with my medium yellow toned skin, and is just a great silky finish with the True Match Liquid. I also use the concealer in this line which I also love!

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Royal Gloss Delicious Lipgloss
rated 5 of 5
azunino228 12/3/2010 5:34:00 PM

This is just like the Sweet Jelly lip glosses that I think they discontinued. My favorite is the Cookie shade which is like a shimmery tan color... love it! But what the heck, I can't find these anymore either!?!?! WHY RIMMEL? WHY? Hopefully its just a weird coincidence cuz this gloss is my favorite!!!

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Vinyl Bronze
rated 5 of 5
azunino228 12/3/2010 5:22:00 PM

I was looking for Rimmel's Royal Gloss in the shade Cookie but couldn't find it and I needed a replacement so I tried the Vinyl Bronze in in Golden Goddess and I really like it. Its not quite as glittery as my Royal Gloss (which everyone always asked what I was wearing by the way) but it looks nice and I like the natural shade that I got. I will probably try something in pink in this formula and I would def repurchase Golden Goddess. But I still want my Cookie gloss! This stuff smells good but it doesn't have any flavor to it and Cookie smelled AND tasted great and I like to smell and taste as good as I look!!! :)

Moisturizers -Boscia - Oil Free Daily Hydration SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
azunino228 12/3/2010 5:16:00 PM

I've been using this for a couple months now. I like that it doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy and it doesn't seem to break me out. Its very lights and sinks right into my skin instead of sitting on top. I've been mixing this and Philosophy's On a Clear Day Retinol Clarifying Lotion in equal parts because the Boscia isn't moisturizing enough and the Retinol just sinks in as well but adds enough moisture to my dry patches. I'm not sure if Boscia is doing much for me but I guess I will find out when I run out and do an update here!

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 5 of 5

Just 7 words: Where have you been all my life? I have searched and searched for a perfect color match. Finally I've found it! Not only is the color RIGHT ON, but the coverage is as close to flawless as I've ever come. I've NEVER used a liquid foudation before and now I'm a complete convert! Here is my routine: *Stiple this on with a duo-fibre brush and blend *With a concealer brush I dab on Philosophy Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas (I know, its a foundation but the color doesn't look great all over my face... but used as a concealer on top of liquid makeup? Magic!) *Finish with True Match Super-Blendable Powder with a big fluffy powder brush I'm so happy with this product. My skin hasn't looked this good in a long time and it has not made me break out!!! That's the true test for me... I've been able to use a few other products that looked pretty good on the face but I had to stop using them due to my skin reactions. I use blotting papers and the powder during the day to fight the oilies and even at 5 in the evening after 11 hours of wear, I don't look half bad! And that is saying A LOT! Usually I wouldn't be caught dead after that many hours of wear, but a little touching up is all I need and I'm good to go for a couple more hours... but, if I were going out at night I would have to reapply for sure... but that's a given right? The funny thing to note is that I have always thought I was yellow only under-toned but my perfect match is N4. Go figure. The handy little color card at the store was right on. I just can't believe how inexpensive this is and that it works so well and looks so great! Thank you L'Oreal!

Foundations -Philosophy - the supernatural airbrush canvas
rated 5 of 5
azunino228 9/21/2010 12:52:00 PM

I've been searching for a decent coverage powder foundation that doesn't make my oily skin breakout like crazy or clog my pores. FINALLY! I love this stuff. Its not a miracle, but its better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried quite a few: MAC SF, Pur Minerals, MicaBella, Smashbox, Tarte, etc etc. This powder goes on super smooth and I don't even have to use concelaer anymore!!! I just use my concealer brush and pat the powder over my acne scars and blemishes and then buff it out with my powder brush and it covers wonderfully! Now, like I said its not a miracle, but it covers better than anything else out there. The color is a pretty good match, and I'm extremely hard to please when it comes to color matching my foundation. I wear C4 in MAC SF and this stuff comes really close and has a nice matte finish. It wears longer than any other MM out that I've tried, it doesn't melt away in an hour like some others. I use MAC Blot powder to set my makeup and to touch up during the day. The only gripe I have is the packaging... it sucks so bad! I don't use the sponge that comes with this (attached to the jar) because I just think it goes on too heavy for me. I unscrew the cap and dip my brush into the lid. This seems to be the best way to get the finish I'm going for. I wish they would make a simple sifter jar for this instead, or at least alternatively for those of us who don't prefer the attached sponge! I also don't think that using that sponge is very sanitary... I have breakout prone oily skin and there's no way that I would use the same dirty sponge all the time (although, they do sell replacement sponges)!

Treatments -Philosophy - On A Clear Day Retinol Clarifying Lotion
rated 3 of 5
azunino228 9/21/2010 12:40:00 PM

UPDATE: a couple months later: I've been using this consistently and I haven't seen any miracles but I also haven't gotten worse so I guess that's saying something. I think I'm going to try the Help Me by the same brand and see how that does for me. I think its a little cheaper and I've heard good things. I really don't have any complains about this but I guess I just wanted to see more results. If Help Me sucks then I might go back to this because it doesn't make my skin worse, and thats the best I have found so far. __________________________________________________________ I've been using this for a couple weeks and I can see that my scars have faded somewhat. I have started using it every other night because I think it was a bit much for my oily skin every night. It seems to have done the trick. I do have some weird bumpiness on my cheeks where I have never broken out before but that has started to lessen now so maybe my skin is getting used to the different products. I will continue to use this and I hope that I scars fade more and the breakouts lessen!

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 4 of 5
azunino228 9/21/2010 12:18:00 PM

So far I love this product. Leaves my face feeling clean and I have not broken out any worse than I already was, and actually my overall skin is smoother and more even toned. I'm also using the retinol cream by Philosophy so I'm not sure which of these products is attributing to the smoothness. Maybe its both!

Skincare - Face -Mario Badescu - Control Moisturizer for Oily Skin
rated 1 of 5
azunino228 8/23/2010 5:34:00 PM

I have oily skin and wanted something light and breathable for under my foundation during the day, but that I could also wear at night without waking up to an oil-slick. This was NOT it. First off this is just about the thickest moisturizer I've ever used! How could it be for oily skin? It seemed to soak in quickly but when I applied my powder foundation my face felt tacky and the brush seemed to stick a bit - and yes I wait for it to soak in before I apply foundation. It was either this or Pur Minerals that started my latest break-out, I can't be sure... but I returned them both. Oh and the smell was HORRID... it smells like clothes from an OLD cedar dresser... yuck!

Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
rated 3 of 5
azunino228 8/23/2010 5:25:00 PM

I ran out of my MAC moisture cover concealer and decided to try a down-grade product. True Match concealer doesn't perform miracles but for 9 bucks it does a decent job. I chose W4-5 light/medium, which is lighter than my skin tone because I use it to cover dark blemishes and dark circles under my eyes. I'm not gonna say I love this, but its definitely better than a lot of concealers out there especially in its price range. Still searching for my HG concealer. I know that Benefit Erase Paste has a cult following but I just didn't think the color was great on me... seriously they only offer 3 colors. Anyhow... True Match is very liquid in consistency, blends out pretty good, does an OK cover-up job for the price, and best of all doesn't break me out!

Powder -Pur Minerals - The Pur-Fect Starter Kit
rated 2 of 5
azunino228 8/23/2010 5:09:00 PM

Once again, I ran out of MAC Studio Fix so I was on the prowl for a new foundation. I tried the kit in Golden Medium and thought I liked it... but after a few hours I noticed the color was just too weird on me. Too light with a weird cast to it. Very unnatural. So I exchanged it for Tan, the next color in their line... WAY TOO DARK. WTF? Seriously how can they jump from such a light color to such a dark color? Then I thought maybe I could mix the two of them... Nope, not a good color either, plus the coverage wasn't good and I think i started breaking out in weird places. Back to Ulta it they went... I wanted to like this, I really did... but the coverage wasn't enough for me, and the color range blows. However, I did enjoy the blush in Pink and the bronzer. I would possibly purchase those on their own. I also rather liked the chisel brush. Perhaps I'll buy the kit just for those 3 items while its still on sale at Ulta for $25, since I can't use the actual foundation. ;o)

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Brilliant Lip Shine in Rock Me
rated 5 of 5
azunino228 5/17/2010 1:44:00 PM

I bought this yesterday while shopping for bras (omg LOVE)... They were out of a lot of colors in the Brilliant Lip Shine formula but when I tried Rock Me on I had to buy it. Really pretty and shine, stays on longer than a lot of other glosses I've tried but its not sticky and gooey and nasty (Juicy Tubes - bleck!), its got a nice smooth consistency. Love this color, goldy-bronze natural and shiny! Makes my lips look very pouty and I LOVE it. I'll be going back for other shades soon!!! My only gripe is the packaging, its got a little button to dispense the product - which I like, but I don't like the built in lip brush. That's just a personal preference, I like tubes so that I can squeeze product onto my finger, I just feel my finger gives a nice even application over brushes. I also wish it was see-through cuz I know I'll freak when I run out unexpectedly!

Masks -Rodan and Fields - Proactiv.
rated 2 of 5
azunino228 5/17/2010 1:11:00 PM

I tried this after I thought my Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System stopped working... big mistake! At first Proactiv seemed to clear things up but after about a week my skin was breaking out in places it had NEVER broken out before! My skin was SUPER dry and the lack of shine was nice but I was peeling and make up looks horrible on dry skin. My skin just looked dull and dry... not to mention those breakouts on my cheeks! OMG... And yes I did stop using the 3rd step so much to see if that would help ease the dryness... nope. The packaging also sucks, you have to squeeze the bottles to death to get anything out and then when it finally does come out its too much product. I tried some other products after this but these also made things worse. I went back to my Neutrogena and things are looking nice and clear again. YAY!
