Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette

i love this palette! (of course) but why? i haven't always been a neutral kinda girl. i LOVE bright purples, greens, you name it, i probably have tried that color. in fact, i used to avoid wearing gold/bronzey type of colors because i thought it would emphasize the yellow-ness of my asian skintone even more. but...this palette looked so nice that in spite of my apprehensions, i had to try it. i you tubed a few looks and played around with it myself, and now i'm hooked! i've only been using this palette for the past week, and i can't get enough! i've learned that gold and bronze CAN look good on me. one of my current favorite looks with this is to use baked on the inner 1/3 of the lid, smog on the middle, and hustle on the outer 1/3 and then blend that into the crease a bit. then i line the bottom lash with hustle and top w/ zero liner. love it! i am considering buying a back up... PS- one thing i would improve as with other UD palettes- i don't like how the liners aren't secured in the palette, they always fall out and i'll probably lose the liner at some point!

Eyeliner -Stila - Black Cat Smudgepot
rated 3 of 5
aznanjl 5/7/2010 4:17:00 PM

Really wanted to love this product. I looked through Sephora for a good gel/cream pot liner intending to get black, but this looked too pretty to pass up, so I got this instead. I really loved the color after swatching it on my hand, I too think straight black is a bit harsh on my pale skin, and the shimmer off sets the black perfectly. HOWEVER, when i went to put it on (tried an angled liner brush as well as a pointed liner brush), I got flakes all over my face and around my eyes. It wasn't even dried out, i had JUST scooped it out of the jar...I'm not sure about other Smudge Pots but the formula of this just wasn't great. I was sad to return it, but the flaking just is not acceptable. I don't rub my eyes, i just dabbed them gently and even then flakes still came off during the day and i also found specks on my face each time i looked in the mirror. Other than that, no smudging or creasing. So a 5 for color, 3 for staying power, and the flakes...no.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
rated 3 of 5
aznanjl 5/2/2009 5:07:00 PM

the sheets all claim they don't remove makeup...only if you dont have oily skin!! which of course would be pointless for you to use the sheets. if i try pressing something against my face right after applying makeup, not much comes off. but if i use the sheet midday, enough makeup comes off that i have to reapply a little bit (i use makeup forever extreme camo concealer, too...heavy duty stuff). even if i try to pat my face gently. oh well... i doubt they will be able to invent a sheet that removes oil really well without disturbing makeup at all. i can dream, but for now, i have to settle. PS- many asian brands make the exact same sheets but cheaper. these are overpriced from your average drugstore. so try looking for those. plus, they often have cuter packaging.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Smoke & Diamonds [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
aznanjl 8/15/2008 2:29:00 PM

this is my new fave MAC e/s! heck, my favorite overall! i was using moth brown for the longest time, but i didn't want to end up using it all since it's LE. luckily for mua, i stumbled upon a review of this e/s. and so when i happened to pass by the MAC store the other day, i decided to go check it out. in the pan, it looked like what others here had described it as...that taupey smokey grey with an olive metallic shimmer. but when i put it on, it looked a silvery taupe color. this is the taupe i have always looked for, what i had hoped satin taupe would be. it does have a hint of that olive color too. just lovely. its much more multi dimensional than the MB/ST e/s. however, it is lighter on me than i had thought it would be, and im not even DARK (nc30). i have yet to try it wet, maybe thatll make it look even more spectacular!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
aznanjl 4/13/2008 4:12:00 AM

i LOVE this liner! i got it on sale for only 99 cents, in the lovely turquoise and plum shade. i tried the plum today, it works great! the cap was a little weird as i unscrewed it, but no biggie. the brush is a good size, not too thin, not too thick. as for the color..very pigmented, very pretty! i used the plum today, and it has lasted me 7 hours so far, and still looks perfect (over my UDPP). it's a true dark purple that shows up great-not black, not reddish, not blueish, but perfectly purple. i love it! i will stock up, and i'm not even a liquid liner person.

Blush -Stila - Convertible Color Gerbera
rated 5 of 5

i love love love this product. i had peony for a while, and i love it for a nude pink lip. but i saw this on sale at anthropologie for just $8, so i had to pick it up. its so pretty, even better than peony. a bright peachy color. its a unique pale lip color on me, gives a bright pop of color instead of a flat pale lip. i tried it on cheeks as well, hopefully i dont break out, as it has 'cones and lanolin oil. it was easy to blend. just dont put a lot on, or else itll never blend. just dab little by little. its a natural color, yet really pops. its lasted a few hours so far, the staying power seems decent. it doesnt feel greasy or sticky either. however, on lips its drying, so be sure to use chapstick under or else it looks gross. i absolutely love this, its my new fave beauty product. the compact is cute and portable, and doubles as a mirror so i dont need to carry another.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Idol Eyes
rated 4 of 5

this is a gorgeous color! it goes on silvery-lavender with golden iridescence, when applied wet. i wish it had more lavender than silver, though, cause it looks more purpley in the pot. other than that, this is a truly unique MAC color that is worth checking out. many people have not tried to use this wet and just think it looks bad...you really should try it and see!

Skincare - Face -Bindi - SkinCare Items
rated 4 of 5
aznanjl 3/28/2007 8:51:00 PM

the soothing lotion is more like a treatment rather than lotion. it's got calamine and zinc oxide and other great stuff in it. it dries up my zits, and i noticed that it makes my skin feel less oily. it leaves a whitish cast on my face, so i put on a thin layer, let dry for at least 10 minutes, then rinse off with water. or i leave it on overnight. overall, if you have acne or oily skin, this is a good product. id suggest a pump bottle or dropper for this, because with the liquid texture its hard to control how much comes out.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Dior Addict 2
rated 4 of 5
aznanjl 9/14/2006 12:23:00 PM

i agree that this is not super unique. but i think it's a great, nonobtrusive girly scent that's light and not overpowering. like i don't see people going 'UGH, what IS that smell? it's so strong!' so it's great for everday wear. i don't smell the grapefruit but i do love grapefruit secnts...it smells pretty sweet and fruity with a floral background to me. all in all i like it but would not repurchase this specific perfume. the bottle is super cute and there's no cap to take off, and i got it at a good price at the duty free!

Eye Shadow -Hard Candy - Eye Shadow Loner in Spacey

very pigmented dark black w/ blue sparkles. they could have enhanced the sparkle effect, but its still very pretty for smokey eyes. a bit hard to blend, not so creamy kind of powder. but its not a biggie. its kind of hard to open sometimes but thats my only gripe.

Loose Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Loose
rated 3 of 5
aznanjl 4/18/2006 8:07:00 PM

Although this works just as well as MAC blot pressed, i think it broke me out. more importantly, it has TALC. known to clog pores, possibly be linked to cancer. http://www.lamasbeauty.com/beauty/danger-zone.htm. use the pressed, it does NOT have talc. also, the packaging is pretty bulky, although the lid is nice to buff the powder on, its not necessary.

Treatments -Advanced Skin Technology - Green Cream by AST

i dont usually muster up the effort to review products, but RAVE for GC. its fairly expensive, $40 a bottle, and i'd use it up in a few months, but it's very worth it. in less than 2 months, i've seen radical results- fewer breakouts, cleared acne scars, faded broken capillaries, and faded discolorations, among other things. although you might have to endure a good amount of purging, flaking, irritation, wrinkling, it's very worth it. i like this because you can actually tell you're getting results, instead of using a product that you have no idea if it's working or not. i see my skin being pulled tighter, i see my skin tone improve almost overnight, etc. just try it! if you're skin isn't super super sensitive, it's totally worth the minor short term annoyances and get great skin in the long run.

Treatments -Bindi - Troubled skincare line/Pitta
rated 5 of 5
aznanjl 1/20/2005 2:39:00 AM

wow, best skincare product ive tried, ever. i have acne scars on my face and redness around my nose (broken capillaries), and ive used the bindi pitta oil for about two weeks, and its really helped the scar/redness, i think. just dont wear makeup over it! yay, im happy, i hope it keeps on working. update- i spilled half the bottle today when i dropped it! its a glass bottle w a dropper...not good! it should be a plastic bottle with a small hole at the top to dispense the drops, with cap attached to top. cause at $30 a bottle, you can hardly afford to waste any. i was so sad!
