BB Cream -Skin79 - Vital BB Cream SPF50++ Hot Orange Label
ayaspiralout 3/13/2012 9:48:00 AM
This bb cream feels more like a foundation than the pink label does. It is hard to blend with my fingers and dries matte and chalky to the touch, like a foundation would. This isn't a bad thing IMO, it's just not what I expected from a BB cream. There is no grayish tint that needs to oxidize like other BB creams I have tried. I have super pale skin and it is great to have something that totally matches my skin tone. Coverage is good and it wears well. I feel like the level of oil control is similar to the pink label- I was hoping it would be a little better, but overall it's doable. If I am going out in the evening I just put powder over it again. Overall, I would purchase this again (if I ever run out) as a foundation product. I like BB creams for when I am lazy and don't feel like carefully applying makeup with a brush or sponge, so if I want to use this, I usually mix it half and half with the pink label. It takes away the icky feeling of foundation on your fingers and makes it easier to blend. I haven't noticed any long term benefits, but my skin seems to tolerate BB creams better than foundation, so my skin seems brighter in that it's not irritated.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Enriched w/ Minerals
ayaspiralout 7/12/2011 11:12:00 PM
This is one of my favorite foundations. It is DIRT cheap, especially when it's on sale at CVS or Walgreens. It has an added scent which I don't like, but I guess I prefer it to the paint smell of Colorstay. It is thick and tacky, but once it's on your face and dry, I think it's great. The shade selection for this is crap. I use Warm Ivory but it's still too dark for me even in the summer, so I put some lighter powder on top of it which does help. I was afraid of this because I thought it was photographing poorly before I realized it was the HD powder I was using (duh!) Now that I am switched to a different powder, it's great in photos. I like this more than ELDW and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra, and it's a fraction of the price.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Oil Cleansing Method OCM
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 10:23:00 PM
Like others, this made my skin look AMAZING for a couple weeks. I would put foundation on one side of my face and the side without foundation looked better, which was insane. I felt like I took the right precautions- I used barely any castor oil, the vast majority jojoba oil, and I only did it once every day or every other day, and I removed it completely afterward. After a few weeks my forehead became really bumpy and clogged, and progressed down to my cheeks over the next couple days, and it didn't stop. I haven't used OCM for about two weeks now and my skin is just now starting to return to "normal." Once my skin is back to normal I may try doing this about once a week to see if I can get it looking how it did before my skin flipped out. It is pretty amazing how you can massage out the sebum plugs!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 10:13:00 PM
I have very very oily skin, and I like this formula way better than the oily skin formula. This one lasts a long time and controls my oil well, but doesn't look cakey and fake looking like the oily formula. The oily one also breaks me out (and I do a really careful job removing makeup every night) but my skin is fine with this. The coverage is medium while the oily formula is full coverage, but that's ok with me because you can layer it. Like everyone else I wish it came with a pump, but that's ok, I'm used to it :-) There are other foundations that last a little bit longer on my skin but when I feel like wearing something different for the day I like to have this handy.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 10:03:00 PM
When my skin is good enough to pull this off, I LOVE it. It is so light and looks beautiful on, but since it's glowy, I can't wear it if my skin has recently had a bad reaction to something and broken out- not because this foundation can't cover discoloration, but because it emphasizes all the little bumps from clogged pores. My skin is very oily and this will last all day with a few touchups with powder. The shade selection is great and I don't think it breaks my skin out. I can't say enough nice things about this foundation, but it is definitely not meant for people who have anything more than minor skin imperfections!

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 9:58:00 PM
The texture of this foundation is lovely- very light, and the finish is nice too. I don't find the coverage to be that great, though- not full coverage like advertised. it also looked kind of gross on me after a few hours- not shiny, just kind of icky overall, like it was sitting on top of my skin. In pictures it looked shiny, though, after just wearing it for about 2 hours, with all the normal precautions I take- oil control lotion, primer, powder, setting spray, etc...so I wound up returning it. I loved the bottle and really wished it wore better on my skin because the texture was soooo nice. If I am going to pay that much for a foundation, I want it to perform better than my $15-ish drugstore foundations.

Liquid -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Makeup
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 9:17:00 PM
My most-used foundation is Almay TLC, but I don't have major complaints about this foundation either. The coverage is a little fuller than TLC, this is a solid medium coverage foundation. The liquid is pretty thick and pours out of the bottle easily- it hasn't been a big deal not to have a pump. I use it in the shade Buff which is more yellow than Buff in TLC, but it gets a little darker as it dries. It doesn't last quite as long as TLC and I don't like the finish as much (it's a bit more matte and chalky looking) but it lasts longer than most foundations which is a major plus for my oily skin.

Liquid -Almay - Almay Truly Lasting Color longwear makeup
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 9:11:00 PM
I have tried tons of foundations and always come back to this. It's not perfect but it does what I want a foundation to do better than any others I've tried. The liquid is really thick and it feels tacky and gross when it's wet, so you want to brush your teeth or put on your concealer or something to give it a couple minutes to dry before putting powder on. It lasts longer than any other longwearing foundation I've tried- beats Lancome Teint Idole Ultra, EL Double Wear, Revlon Colorstay, Rimmel Lasting Finish, etc. The finish is semi-matte and it does a good job keeping from getting into my pores by the end of the day. Coverage is light-medium and I find it to be buildable depending on how my skin is that day. I use Buff and when I am more tan I add a little in the shade Neutral. I like using the ELF Studio Powder brush to apply this, but have also tried stippling, regular foundation brushes, and different sponges.

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
ayaspiralout 7/8/2011 5:59:00 PM
I was expecting to like this a lot, but find I get better results with a flat top brush, and the same amount of coverage. The sponge absorbs a lot of product and I really have to smush it into the areas around my nose to get it to cover, and when I do that, it messes up the areas that are already done. It's also hard to control where you are applying the foundation, so I wind up with a little bit of it around my hairline, which is just icky. I also have a hard time getting it clean and am disturbed by how much pink color comes out of it no matter how many times I've washed it. It seems to emphasize any bad texture of my skin, and my foundation "cracks" more throughout the day when I use this. Plus, they are SUPER expensive. It is a lot of fun to bounce it around your face and I like the way it expands under water, but it's not worth it with the poor results I get. The only people who might really like this IMO are people who just can't get the hang of using a brush to get better results, or for people who don't mind the high cost of the sponge and the cost of wasted product that gets absorbed into it.

Loose Powders -Coastal Scents - Silica Spheres Powder
ayaspiralout 10/15/2010 6:34:00 PM
I thought this was nice as a setting powder until I saw how it looked in pictures- it made me look ghostly. I like the way it makes my skin feel to the touch and it controlled my oil well. I may use it under my foundation as others have suggested.

Lip Gloss -Unlisted Brand - Fantasy Makers - Magic Gloss
ayaspiralout 10/14/2010 12:29:00 PM
This is pretty much the same as the O-Gloss. I know the intuitive color is a gimmick but I do love the way O-Gloss looks, and this is almost as good. The tube is small but for $2 I will probably buy it again.

Concealers -E.L.F. - Studio Line Concealer Pencil & Brush
ayaspiralout 10/14/2010 10:40:00 AM
For the price this is awesome. It's very yellow so I put it on underneath my foundation. It's really thick so I don't like it for under my eyes but for blemishes it's great. The sharpener cap is awkward so I took it off and just use my regular sharpener.

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup
ayaspiralout 10/14/2010 10:35:00 AM
After reading these great reviews I went out and bought it. I am really happy with it. I've never had a foundation that looked like "my skin, but better," but now I finally have that. It feels light and a little goes a long way. The pump is great. It doesn't hold off my oil as well as some other foundations but it doesn't melt off my face either so some powder fixes it just fine. The color selection is adequate. I was about to give up trying DS foundations so even though it's expensive for a DS foundation, it's better than paying for a dept. store product!

Polishes -Orly - Fantasea
ayaspiralout 9/22/2010 10:20:00 AM
This is my first orly polish and I think I will buy more now. I love the color and love the rubberized grip on the handle. It took 3 thin coats to be totally opaque. It applied easily. Best of all, it lasted 5 days before there was ANY chipping, which is almost unheard of for me. And by then it was only 2 minor chips, so I took it off because I was bored, not that it looked too bad to wear. Love it!!!!

Polishes -Zoya - Trixie
ayaspiralout 9/15/2010 9:33:00 AM
This color is AWESOME. It looks like it would feel gritty but it is smooth. I love touching my fingernails when I have this on. Like others have said it's almost opaque in one coat. I feel like it's less gel-like than other Zoya polishes and dries a little faster. With CND base coat and Vite on top it lasts about half a week before it starts chipping a little bit. I would definitely buy it again.
