BB Cream -Laneige - Snow BB Cream SPF41 PA++

I've used more than 1/2 of the product. I like how it smells and the texture. It leaves my skin moist, which can be annoying if you're trying to set your makeup with powder. It makes my face look lighter and leaves a dewy look. I probably won't buy this again, since there are tonnes of BB creams out there with the same quality and at a lower price point. Think I paid $32.

Cleansers -LUSH - Ultrabland
rated 2 of 5

I used this a while ago when I first got into Lush products. It was alright at first as it seemed to take off my eye makeup well, I was drawn in by the coconut smell. It became rancid within a year in my cupboard and I had to throw it out. I used it for makeup removal around the eyes and I would spray the Roma Aroma toner to remove. It leaves a filmy residue and when I didn't wipe it off thoroughly acne would develop. Why would it have methylparaben & propylparaben if Lush is an all natural brand? I'm not falling for that "all natural" marketing gimmick!

Lotions/ Creams -Mary Kay - Satin Hands
rated 1 of 5
avapro 3/20/2010 1:38:00 AM

I got this from a MK rep as a sample; the sample was really cute! Despite that, I think it went bad because it smelled like rancid paint! The only good part that deserves one lippy is the texture, it was smooth. I tried this lotion again from a friend and it smelled borderline rancid. Hers was probably more fresh. I think the oils in this cream goes bad very easily. I don't understand the rave about this cream, it's really not all that great. It's comparable with the Aveeno creams, but different smell.

Mascara -Rimmel - Lash Maxxx

Not impressed. The formula dried out within a month. There was no noticeable difference in lengthening. Made my lashes look clumpy b/c the brush held a lot of product.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Egyptian Magic Healing Cream

This works for me really well. I have dry and sensitive skin. It was odd to use at first but now it has become a part of my routine. I've noticed that a lot of people find that it is hard to absorb; but it is all in the method you apply it with. After I wash my face I spray my face with toner then I warm up the cream in my fingers and apply onto my face. The water helps absorb the cream onto your face. I've also noticed that this helps my eyelashes grow back faster. Before I would have a few bald patches that would take months to grow back. In the morning my face feels soft and supple. I would wash my face in the morning before applying sunscreen. My coworkers have noticed how plump, evenly smooth, and dewy my skin looks. A lot has to do with keeping the moisture in my skin with good moisturizers and makeup. I love that this cream has minimal ingredients so it would not sting, burn or irritate my skin or eyes like most other products. Another bonus is that this cream is very reasonably priced, not like the other hope in a jar creams that retail at ridiculous prices. I got mine from ebay for about $30US, which would last me for a good year. This is a HG product for me! Update: This product is now in the garbage because it went rancid. I think there was a hype about this product on Youtube a few years ago, because the company sent them to the makeup channels to give rave reviews, but in reality it's just vaseline in a jar. This was a complete waste of money!

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Face Spray
rated 1 of 5
avapro 3/18/2010 2:40:00 PM

This is water in a bottle with some chemicals and preservatives (EDTA). I use this as toner after I wash my face to help absorb my moisturizer. I paid $26.00CAD for this spray bottle of water. I only bought it because there was a gift with purchase. I think that if there were no GWP, I would never even consider buying Clinique stuff. After I finish with this I will be putting a rose toner into the bottle, so that is the one good part; the bottle!

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - All-In-One Artistry Palette - Navy Design #208
rated 5 of 5
avapro 3/12/2010 4:17:00 PM

Great palette! I saw a Dior add of a model (Monica Bellucci) with blue smoky eyes and I'm pretty sure they used this palette to achieve the look. It was a gorgeous, very subtle, but very intriguing! The colors are lovely, pigmented and very smooth, hence easy blending. I like that these are not as soft and crumbly like the other palettes with raised jewel patterns. This palette is a bit different than the other Dior ones, it has a silver rim on the edges. The price was pretty expensive st $58, but I have yet to see such an amazing combo of colors like this one! Greys, blues, white/silver, and lavender. The top right corner color is very shimmery, so I use that sparingly. The top left corner color I use on my lid, only upto the fold of my lid, which is only 1/4 inch. Then I blend with the centre color above it. I don't use the white color as a highlight on the brow bone, only in the corners of my eyes. and blend out with a matte neutral color (i.e. MUFE #35). Gives that very edgy and sexy look in my opinion. Probably won't find this palette again anywhere.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer blush in Peachykeen
rated 3 of 5
avapro 3/9/2010 2:16:00 PM

This was one of the first blushes from MAC. The sales rep at the counter suggested that I get this color. I told her I wanted something "natural" this blush does not give you that look! In fact, it is too red for me and it also have orange undertones which conflicts with my yellow skin tone. I like the Well Dressed blush a lot better than this one. So lesson learned, never listen to the counter girls, most of them don't have a clue what suits you best.

Concealers -Mary Kay - concealer
rated 3 of 5
avapro 3/6/2010 8:48:00 PM

This concealer is very similar to the Amazing Cosmetics one, but not as thick and pigmented. Doesn't mean it doesn't cover, it covers moderate dark circles quite well, my freckles not so much. I like the smooth consistency, it is not sticky like the AC concealer. I have this in Ivory 2, it's the perfect color for me (I am an NC35 skin tone and NC20 in studio sculpt). Maybe it's the powder I use or the method that I use to set this concealer, but I find that I get transfer from my mascara on my under eye with this on. It drives me crazy when I look like a raccoon! Ughhh!

Moisturizers -Mary Kay - Timewise Age Fighting Moisturizer
rated 1 of 5
avapro 3/5/2010 2:38:00 PM

I bought the Timewise set on eBay and thought I'd give the Mary Kay line a try. I started with 3 products at a time to see if it would give me a reaction to my sensitive skin. I use the Vitamin C serum, the Night Solution (with the beads) and this one. After using the Vitamin C serum and having no adverse reaction to it, I decided to add this moisturizer to my routine along with the night solution. After a week of use, my skin broke out with little bumps all over, mostly around my lip and chin area. My chin and cheeks showed 2-3 acne pimples and I tried to fight them off with a salicylic acid gel spot treatment. In addition to the breakout, I noticed that my eyes started to water and sting when I applied this close to my eye area. I am very disappointed with this product! It smells like cheap face cream from the dollar store. I really don't know what the ingredients are, it does not state on the website. This is cheap smelling and feels like a low grade moisturizer and will be going into the trash for me!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush
rated 5 of 5
avapro 3/4/2010 12:56:00 PM

Absolutely love this brush! It is super soft and distributes powder evenly. I was using "relatively" soft brushes prior, but was in search of a very gentle brush for my entire face and this one does the trick perfectly! Don't know why I didn't notice this brush before, but I'm going to be starting a collection of Ecotools brushes. They are just fantastic and I highly recommend them!

Highlighters -Christian Dior - Skinflash
rated 1 of 5
avapro 3/2/2010 12:52:00 AM

I'm not sure what this product was supposed to do for me. It does not conceal and the highlighting properties are not that great. It was a big waste of money and completely useless to me!

Skincare - Face -La Roche Posay - Thermal Spring Water
rated 1 of 5
avapro 2/20/2010 11:21:00 PM

I bought this because I saw it on a Youtube video, yup pretty sad. The concept is pretty cool to use as a toner, but I'll be using a spray bottle from now on. I got this from Shoppers Drug Mart. After using half the bottle, I figured that I paid $22 for 150mL of water! I couldn't take it back to Shoppers because they have a ridiculous return policy and the people there give you very rude looks when you return anything! Ughh! So I decided to keep it, but I keep on thinking how ripped off I've been since this basically is water in a spray bottle. I guess it is a bit more hygienic since it is in a sealed bottle, but still. Won't be buying this again!

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Matte Collection Quad in Quartz Quartet
rated 5 of 5
avapro 2/20/2010 11:01:00 PM

Love this palette! I mostly use the top right corner one (cream color) the most for blending the crease area and to tone down the shimmer/shine on my lids. And I use the grey color (bottom right) as a brow filler by using an angle brush. The grey matches with my dark hair color without looking like a fake reddish/brown color: contrasting with my brows. It was only $10 from my local grocery store. I wasn't sure at first if I would keep the palette, but I ended up keeping it because it is such a great go to palette. Highly recommended if you like creating a natural everyday look.

Makeup Brushes -Mary Kay - MK Signature Brush Set
rated 3 of 5
avapro 2/19/2010 8:31:00 PM

When I first felt these brushes at the makeover session they were very soft. I bought these for half price. I don't use the lip brush. I didn't have any other brushes that were like these in shape. I thought they worked quite well. The packaging is very nice and sleek. The handles are good quality and looks like they were well made. However, after the first few washes, the brushes became coarse and abrasive. Particularly the large powder brush and dome shaped eyeshadow brush. They scratch my eyes and cheeks when I use them to apply. I guess the soap I used stripped off the oils on the bristles. I tried to recondition them with leave in conditioner, but they are still scratchy. I would rather get the Ecotools brushes since they never get coarse and scratchy after washing. I'm very disappointed with these brushes. And since I bought these from a Rep, it is a big hassle to return it. Ugh!!!
