Cleansers -Avene - Gentle Gel Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

This is the best cleanser I have used so far. It's so soft and kind to my super sensitive skin, that I cannot stop touching my cheeks after every wash.It doesn't lather a lot, and I prefer it like that. Also, there is almost no scent, so, that intensifies my trust in it. I have tried many expensive cleansers (Estee Lauder, Shu Uemura, Clinique, Lancome... the list could go on and on), but none delivered such results. No irritation, and my occasional acne spots become less red. And it's so economical. I will never stop buying it!

Toners -L'Occitane - Immortelle Brightening water
rated 1 of 5

This toner is delivering what it says, regarding brightening. I can see my skin tone- which is already fair- being even whiter. But it also broke me out severely in the area of the chin- sth that is nowhere mentioned in the label :-). Hate to write that, as I really love L'Occitane; but my chin has never looked so ugly. Maybe it's just my skin sensitivity. I thought I should mention it, just in case someone has the same effects.

Scrubs -Kiehls - Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion
rated 1 of 5

I admit, I have sensitive and acne prone skin. That's why I thought that good exfoliation would solve some problems, and the shop assistant recommended this product. I followed the instructions carefully, not using it for more than two minutes. The next day my chin was full of pimples. As if all those little items in the cream cut my skin imperfections like razors, and all those small cuts (which were not visible first place) became perfect vessels for new pimples! I tried this product one more time, just to confirm before the final decision- guess what, same results.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Chergui
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 5/27/2011 3:50:00 PM

Chergui, you have mesmerised me! You eloped me, dressed in your Eastern costume on a camel, and took me to places far and magical. Yes, initial medicinal notes may hinder a bit the way to an AMAZING dark brown dry down, deep syrupy sweet and sticky, balanced with smoke and with a touch of spice. So sensual! It feels as if it's the print that a woman's perfume leaves on a man's skin, after spending the night together. Therefore, it quite defies gender. Many fragrances have tried to impress with musk and spices, but their effect has been fleeting, and finally I had to get away from them. Chergui has managed to keep me in his tent... how long for? Let's say that longevity is what gives this powerful dry down the chance to shine all day!

Fragrances -Aesop - Mystra
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 5/10/2011 4:40:00 PM

Mystra is a well crafted incensy perfume. I am proud this creation comes from a Greek Australian company, as I have linked incense with spirituality, and would like to trace it in my Greek origin. The ingredients are simple, but lovely. Very natural, as if you picked them up from nature, with your hands. The mastic tone is reminiscent of the Greek ground and flavours blended with the incense, which is lingering softly; the perfume finishes with a beautiful subtle ambery drydown. It feels like you are in a Greek orchard with a little chapel in the middle, at the top of a hill, overlooking the sea... It is very ethereal, and stays close to the skin. It's not a spray, and actually I respect this attitude to nature and ecology. Mystra is a sacred place, and the perfume a genuine representative- humble, deep, evocative.

Fragrance -LUSH - Dirty fragrance
rated 4 of 5
atsitl 4/15/2011 10:26:00 PM

I have the body spray, and I bought it for the gym! It smells surprisingly good; the mint first but then a sweet herb- probably the tarragon, along with the sandalwood. It's not complicated, but it's incredibly long lasting, and I have been using it as a perfume- deodorant by itself! I wouldn't wear it in combination with other fragrances, as it's quite strong... Not a smell that I would go out in the evening, but a refreshing and invigorating one, that I enjoy wearing! Edit on 13/05/11 Well, I had to upgrade it to 4 lipsticks, as I keep reaching for this spray, because it's a mood booster, with a very appealing drydown. It gives me the freshness of a mint chewing gum, really pleasant and unisex!

Fragrances -Guerlain - L'Heure Bleue
rated 5 of 5

Just wrote a Haiku for this: "In the bluest light, as day and night breed, a tear is born" It's a fabulous fragrance, evoking the femme fatale of a past era, when real stars could still emerge. She is not just beautiful, but also sophisticated, arty, intellectual, and sexy... It's a deep perfume, violety, powdery... Like Beethoven's moonlight sonata; enigmatic, full bodied, mysterious... It smells good, and therefore, makes you feel good!

Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Iris Poudre
rated 3 of 5
atsitl 4/7/2011 5:49:00 PM

Normally, I only review perfumes that I really like... No, no, it's not that I detest Iris Poudre, but I just I really wanted to like it- you know the confident feeling on your way to the shop, as if it's already yours. Well, to my surprise, it was a bit soapy on my skin, and not the warm embrace that I was after. Also quite linear... Don't get me wrong, I love irises, but maybe not in this creation. Soapy on me :-( and I thought that finally, with this perfume me and Frederic Malle would start being friends...

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - Drole de Rose
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 4/4/2011 5:16:00 AM

I love roses; and I equally love violets. You can see that I was immediately captivated by Drole De Rose! And after I read its description in L'Artisan webpage (a little daughter watching her mother putting on her make up, getting ready for a night out) I was determined to buy it. Then, suddenly I came across Lipstick Rose by Frederic Malle, a perfume that shares the same concept, smelling like good quality cosmetics, I faced a terrible dilemma... Literally, the two fragrances were fighting to win the battle of my ultimate choice... At some point, I thought that I would buy lipstick rose, as it lasted longer on my skin; felt relieved after resolving. But upon decision, I started an aversion towards the LR fragrance (and maybe unfairly), because its actual sweetness and lusciousness upset my stomach, suffocated me, rendering it synthetic... I returned to my initial love for the Drole De Rose! It's much more natural, and although not extremely long lasting, it's adorable! And it was the first that encapsulated the concept of smelling expensive lipstick and face powder! It is going to be my birthday gift to myself!

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Bois de Violette
rated 5 of 5

Dark sexy Violet. Because her name is Di Bois, the power of the cedar balances her ethereal sweetness, giving her a spine, a character- becoming interesting... I have tried Penhaligon's violet, which is a truthful representation of real violets, however, after a while found it linear; but this...

Fragrances -Chanel - Beige
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 2/28/2011 6:18:00 PM

The first thing that strikes me when I smell it is CLASS. If I could embody class in a perfume I'd choose Beige. It's the aristocracy of perfumes, away from flashy nouveau rich celebrities. A simple elegant black dress whose inner collar label writes Chanel. Flowery and powdery. Discrete and unassuming.

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - Bois Farine
rated 5 of 5

To me it's a gourmand perfume. Also, a comforting smell. Warm, but not too sweet. The perfume keeps its balance and does not become cheesy and cheap. It begins with a peanut buttery tone along with pencil shavings- and it is this woody aroma that stops the sweetness from becoming overpowering. Towards the end I get more of the Iris and a bit of a powdery feeling. I think it's a magical perfume (like the tree it's made from), and everytime I feel a bit weird, I get comfort inside it. I would suggest it to those who dare... and maybe to an "experienced" nose.

Fragrances -Diptyque - L Ombre Dans L Eau
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 2/28/2011 6:14:00 PM

This is the perfume that I got most compliments for. Maybe it blends well with my skin... What I really like is its diversity. You wear it and after a couple of hours it's like another perfume. The strong and maybe distrurbing initial smell evaporates in seconds and gives way gradually to an earthy warm deep rose, mystical and sexy- but like you are born sexy, not in an artificial way. My favourite.

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Petite Cherie
rated 5 of 5
atsitl 2/28/2011 6:13:00 PM

This fragrance evokes love; innocent, childhood love... The kiss of a mother to her little daughter, with peachy rosy cheeks, in an orchard of pears. Now imagine this girl singing to you, with her high pitched sweet voice, whose melody would be rendered at the highest notes in a piano (after all Annick Goutal was a piano soloist)! Wear it every time you wish to be loved like that, to find comfort, optimism, and refuge in a motherly embrace, becoming a little girl! Life smells good, so wipe off your tears princess, because everything will be alright... And if you wish this love to last, prefer the EDP version!
