Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
atroquinine 2/18/2013 10:27:00 PM
This is everything everyone's said it would be. Finally a product that delivers! It has exceptional coverage for my undereye circles, but you only need the tinest dot of it to cover. If you use too much it will look cakey, and it dries quickly so you have to blend it out asap, but the results when applied properly are perfect. It really looks like I don't have any dark circles. I'm not the kind of person who thinks that just because something's cheap means you can forgive it when it works like crap, but I still really encourage everyone to try this, because the results are crazy for such a cheap product.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection - Petal Pusher (736)
atroquinine 2/17/2013 7:30:00 PM
I bought this palette along with the other two, Blue Had Me At Hello and Comfort Zone, and I was so pumped to finally see them in stock at a Wal-Mart. Each palette was five dollars. While I enjoyed the other two palettes, this was really disappointing and also the one I was most excited to use because I love purple. Apart from the lilac shade, these colors look pretty interesting and not like any other purple eyeshadow I have. I was really pumped to try the two "Definer" shades as well as the third down on the right side; it looks like a really pretty, shimmery deep reddish brown color. Unfortunately all of these colors really fell short. The two browbone colors are chalky and give no mentionable color payoff. The eyelid lilac color also has no notable pigmentation with one layer; I had to work with it for quite some time before I even saw an uneven light purple that didn't look nearly as majestic as it does in the pan. The other eyelid color just deposits reddish glitter. All four lower shades are extremely dry and the shimmery ones just leave you with a smear of uneven glitter. In short, skip this palette and get the other two if they appeal to you. This one completely lacks the smooth, blendable texture that we've come to expect from the new WnW eyeshadows.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Eyeshadow - Hushed Tints
atroquinine 1/13/2013 8:38:00 PM
These shadows are a complete waste of money. Thankfully it is only around 8 bucks but I am rarely let down by Maybelline. None of these colors look even close to their shade in the pan on my eyes. It looks like a good idea because of the variety of shades but the pigmentation is complete crap and they feel chalky and cheap. You can definitely get better drug store eyeshadows - Wet 'n' Wild and L'oreal Infallibles are both much better.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
atroquinine 11/13/2012 8:38:00 PM
This is a fantastic product. I've never been happier with a concealer. I got this in Ivory as opposed to Radiant, which I got last time. Radiant seems more pink to me and the Ivory one has a tiny bit of a yellow tone, which is fantastic for my dark circles. The claims are very modest so I didn't have high hopes. It really just claims to illuminate and conceal. It does say for blemishes and under eye area, but I personally would not use this for blemishes because I usually find I like a thicker concealer for spot coverage and a more creamy one for under the eyes. Best thing about this is it does not crease or look cakey, it really just blends right in and makes it look like you slept last night. Absolutely wonderful. Some people will not like the brush applicator by principle but for me it is fine, and I'm sure if you weren't comfortable swiping it directly on your face you could easily just use clean fingers. It's really worth a try anyway. If you want a light-feeling, gel-like concealer to brighten up your dark circles, there's no reason not to love this.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eyes
atroquinine 11/13/2012 8:16:00 PM
The thing I like most about Maybelline mascaras are that they are very reliable - I never try a new tube and think to myself, "wow I can't use this at all." This lives up to that somewhat mediocre legacy. My favorite Maybelline mascara it the Volum' Express Mega Plush in the light blue packaging, and that one I'm quite fond of, but the rest are very meh. I do like the curved brush on this one, it makes it very easy to get each the outer lashes. Like the rest of the Maybelline mascaras, you have to apply many coats to get dramatic length, but this one did make my lashes look nice and thick right away. Plus the packaging and advertisements are adorable. I gave this a three: very average, affordable drugstore mascara. As usual if you don't want dramatic lashes this is perfectly fine, but at the same time, if you don't want dramatic lashes you can probably pick up something from Elf or Wet 'n' Wild and be just as happy. Save your money in that case.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe
atroquinine 11/13/2012 8:06:00 PM
This product is fine, but I don't think it's worth the hype. The main reason for this is because it's impossible for me to apply with my fingers, it just gets patchy and looks smeared, and that's one of the reasons I would choose a creamy eyeshadow over a powder because they are generally quicker and easier to apply. Not the case with this. It does work very well with a brush, however. I use a small rounded brush and blend it out with a fluffier one and that looks alright. I still don't think it's worth the rating it has on here for the fact that it takes a while to get used to working with, dries very quickly, and the color selection is all over the place but still somehow only hits the shades of the colors that look too dramatic for my taste. Of the limited colors I chose Tough As Taupe and it is definitely on the gray side of taupe. My skin is very pale (Mac doesn't make a shade light/neutral enough) so I'm not sure if I'm in love with it on me. I can imagine it working for someone else. Overall, it's alright quality but L'oreal Infallibles still win for me. The only this has over those is staying power - this shadow would be amazing for people who have issues with oily lids or who sweat a lot.

Powder -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Transparent 001
atroquinine 10/26/2012 2:30:00 PM
I picked this up simply because I was tired of spending a lot of money for powder - I don't really need coverage, I just use a translucent shade to set my makeup. I got this for seven bucks here in Canada, which is about on par with other drugstore powders. It works like a dream - really good mattifying power, and it stays matte all day. I don't even have to reapply throughout the day and because I got the transparent color it doesn't oxidize at all, which is a problem I have with some foundations/powders since I am, no joke, the whitest person I know. The reason I give this 4/5 is because of the packaging. It is the cheapest, crappiest plastic thing ever and the lid comes off really easily. So this is not for travelling at all. Shame, because I'd pay a bit more if they had a mirror or just a flip lid.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm
atroquinine 9/26/2012 12:47:00 AM
This tube is pretty amazing in some ways but definitely does not deliver on moisturizing my lips. I have the bright pink one and it smells very fruity and delicious, so I like it for that reason. Definitely not worth buying again though given there are other more moisturizing lip balms out there for similar price. Pros: Smells great Deposits a nice amount of sheer color Looks pretty nice after you first apply Only four bucks Cons: Did not have any lasting effect for moisturizing Settles into lines/cracks formed by any dryness you may have Comes off completely within three hours, comes right off if you sip a drink

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
atroquinine 9/18/2012 10:24:00 PM
Let me start off by saying this product is extremely nice to blend and covers very well. I feel it gives medium coverage, not really heavy, and surprisingly it sort of improves the appearance of my large pores, which is never something I expect of a foundation. It feels really smooth on my fingertips, like whipped cream, and blends out very well. It leaves skin feeling smooth and soft, and looks airbrushed and flawless. I really like the finish. I noticed a very faint smell but it wasn't unpleasant, I don't know what the other reviewers are getting at. Plus the color is absolutely perfect for me. I am the palest person I know (I literally don't get outside) and the lightest shade of this was perfect, it has no pink or orange tones. Anyway, the best part of this is the texture and finish. If it doesn't oxidize terribly on me in the next couple of days or break me out, I will be sold. Also why exactly do people keep say it's unsanitary to have it in a jar? This is way too thick to come out of a pump easily. I don't understand what you're suggesting they do.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Happy Booster
atroquinine 9/10/2012 3:17:00 PM
This product is absolutely amazing. I have it in translucent and wasn't expecting much, but the scent is very subtle, it has very little glitter when applied to the face, and it just gives a nice highlight that works very well with my pale skin. The packaging is adorable, but sort of chunky and weird since underneath the powder is a little flat brush. The brush is completely useless compared to a good fluffy brush, so keep that in mind. However, it is a really good quality highlight and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice finishing powder with subtle shimmer.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
atroquinine 8/18/2012 12:33:00 AM
This is a great mascara for the price and I feel like it's definitely one of my favorite drug store products. It cost me around six or seven bucks, and the only other Maybelline mascara I tried was great lash, which I found too wet and it flaked. The good news about this mascara is even though it's a bit on the wet side it dries quickly and doesn't flake. It gives absolutely great volume that makes it look as if you have a lot of lashes, and your lashes never look chunky/spidery. My only qualm is it takes a few coats to get the length really going but if you want great volumizing mascara that doesn't clump any of your lashes together, this is absolutely wonderful.

BB Cream -Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35
atroquinine 7/29/2012 7:42:00 PM
I've never tried any Smashbox products before, and even though this has no real anti-aging properties, nor will it fade imperfections like an asian bb cream, I was looking for something a lot lighter than foundation but would still offer some coverage and maybe control oil. I paid about forty bucks for this, and it's a really small container (1 fluid oz). The good news is I pretty much got what I wanted. I got it in the lightest shade. It's a pretty neutral color which is great for skin as fair as mine. I really liked the texture, it's very velvety smooth. A little goes a long way so I can almost forgive the bottle for being so tiny. I'd definitely consider buying this again if there was a larger bottle available and also if it was a bit more moisturizing.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub
atroquinine 7/24/2012 2:00:00 AM
This product is extremely harsh and will probably damage sensitive skin. However, I use it on my body and it feels absolutely amazing. So I wouldn't recommend using it on your face but it's heavenly if you have acne on your body or if you just want soft smooth skin all over.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
atroquinine 6/13/2012 10:04:00 PM
Apart from calling this a BB cream when it's very clearly a tinted moisturizer, this is not a bad product at all. A lot of TMs are too orange for my pale skin and this one was totally fine. It glides on very smoothly and offers a mild touch of radiance, which is great for days when I want lighter makeup. It'll brighten up mild redness, offers decent sun protection, moisturizes well, and is quite cheap. It lacks any anti-aging properties or other long-term skin improvements, but it is still a great product. That being said anyone familiar with Asian BB creams should stay far away from this. It is not a real BB cream by any standard. As it is now, a good BB cream has yet to hit drugstore counters. But if you want a tinted moisturizer this is fantastic!

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Liner
atroquinine 6/12/2012 8:30:00 PM
This eyeliner gives a very matte finish, but does crack a bit after drying so I recommend waiting for it to dry at first and then doing another even coat. It stays a LONG time so make sure you correct any mistakes right away. Problem with this for me is that it burns the heck out of my lid. I didn't think this was a big deal at first since it just burnt for about a minute and then seemed okay, but later at night when I was removing it, I got some in my eye. Oh my god I think it would've been less painful to pour liquid soap into my eye. :( So I won't be using it again but I thought I'd let you guys know - if it burns at first, be super careful removing it!!!
