Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Satsuma body lotion
rated 4 of 5

The perfect body moisturiser for a hot summer's day. I admit it is not very moisturising so those with dry skin may want to skip this. But on a sticky day, the uplifting fragrance of satsuma's lifts your spirits and refreshes you. The scent is quite strong so bear in mind you won't be able to wear another fragrance with this (they will clash) but I always get a lot of compliments on this so I don't need to use an EDT etc. If I had to use one it would be L'occitane's Orange Ribbon EDT, they would compliment each other perfectly!

Very expensive and admittedly I am having to save up for a full size now that my sample has run out! But so worth it. On me this smells like a sweet pistachio biscuit. Lasts quite a while too. Very yummy and one which others will notice you have got on too! Wish there was a matching shower gel in this and that it wasn't so damn expensive...

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Honey & Lemon (Miel et Citron) [DISCONTINUED]

This review is for the non-shimmer version and all I have to say is it smells horrible, nothing like the shower gel or cream. Got rid of this on ebay within minutes of trying it. Very artificial, no real lemon or honey, just some weird cloying plasticky smell.

Fragrance -Paco Rabanne - Ultraviolet for Men
rated 5 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 12:51:00 PM

Sweet, comforting and unlike any other men's fragrance out there. One of my all time faves and everyone comments on this. Not your usual woody or aquatic EDT, this one is totally in a league of its own. You have to sniff to see what I mean! HG.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Honey & Lemon Delightful Cream

I love this, along with the Shower Gel and have stocked up now that they have been discontinued. I admit its not everyones cup of tea, people have likened the smell of this to fart gas!! I cannot imagine how this smells even remotely like that but things smell different to each person I guess. I love the smell. Its very long lasting too. Very sweet and totally unique. I would maybe just use on days when you don't plan to socialise much as others have a tendency not to like this one! For me though an absolute repurchase, despite the price...if only it wasn't discontinued! P.S The EDT in this range smells nothing like the cream or shower gel so keep clear of that one! I got rid of mine after one try. It was horrible...

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant
rated 5 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 12:40:00 PM

Love this! My HG spot treatment, I apply a small amount to each pimple and within half an hour, just before applying my moisturiser hey presto the pimple has shrunk to half its previous size or less! It then works throughout the day/night to bring to a head any remaining pimples. I cannot use all over as oddly enough that causes more pimples to form as do Glycolic peels for me. The packaging is terrible, leaks everywhere, there is a plug of hardened gel around the screw-lid which looks odd but at least it keeps anymore from leaking out when the bottle is tilted.Best to transfer to a different container if you buy it. Price sucks too! Ridiculously expensive to buy in the UK. But despite the negatives, I for one will never be without this!

I actually like this more than the matching Body Butter. Everytime I use this I have to force/will myself not to drink it straight out of the bottle, it really does smell so scrummy! Its like a slice of heaven. Shame it looks like they are discontinuing it....

Would I buy this product again? Yes, if it still existed that is! I can't believe I found a yummy, mouth-watering dessert fragranced body product and they discontinued it! It was tricky enough ordering to the UK and paying customs duties on top of the shipping prices but it was so worth it! Oh the delicious fragrance lasted for hours and always got me compliments. Why oh why has it gone?

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 12:22:00 PM

Simply put; the only moisturiser my skin will accept without breaking out. Have tried almost every skin cream/gel/lotion/serum from every skincare brand manufacturer and I always come back to this one! My skin hates anything citrusy - Vitamin C especially and also hates too much Glycerine in a product. That rules out then 90% of facial moisturisers out there. Add to that those that contain Mineral Oil, Tea Tree, Menthol and the majority of botanical extracts that exist. I know this contains lots of plant ingredients aswell as Glycerine but they must be just the right amount because my skin loves this! This product isn't fragranced but I detect a faint rosewater type of smell which must be down to one of the ingredients in here. Very lightweight gel consistency, feels refreshing to skin when applied almost like your skin has enjoyed a drink! I know that sounds corny but its true. My skin is exceptionally oily and acne-prone, sugary foods especially trigger an outbreak off within a week or so, but I can still continue to use this without it aggravating exisitng spots. I just wish here in the UK it was priced as cheap as it is in the U.S. Nevertheless - HG for me.

Fragrances -Demeter - Caramel
rated 4 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 12:10:00 PM

This is yummy and very sweet, although I can imagine it may not be to everyone's likings! This is the only Demeter fragrance I have come across that lasts longer than a minute. I can still smell an hour or so later, which for Demeter cologne's is nothing short of miraculous!

Fragrances -Demeter - hot fudge sundae

To die for! If only it lasted more than approximately 30 seconds. Honestly! Have ordered their matching Body Lotion and Shower Gel now that they are on sale and hopefully will last longer when layered, will update if thats the case. Tip: spray onto a unscented moisturiser on your skin just before the moisturiser sinks in and the scent will last a wee bit longer.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Cleanse Your Soul (CYS) Chocolate Marshmallow - Oil Roller
rated 3 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 12:02:00 PM

I really wanted to like this due to the other two reviews. I am always on the hunt for dessert-like fragrances and body care products. This one can be nice but oddly enough depending on where applied can turn into some burnt plastic kind of smell which I have noticed is quite common with low-end home-made products, but could be partly down to just my body chemistry! Also purchased in the linen spray which was better. Lasted half an hour or so on bedsheets which was not too bad. Hardly expensive so worth a try! In the end I decided I don't really want to walk around smelling like powdery hot chocolate (with a sprig of mint thrown in). Personally I would prefer a more true straight chocolate fragrance but as experience dictates, its not easy to find such a thing! Have tried quite a few of the other products and formulas from CYS including Cookie Dough, Banana Cream Pie etc, but was not impressed by any! Nothing stayed true once applied, some did not even smell remotely like what they were supposed to. I doubt I will be ordering again but just may try this one again in the future.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Bakery - Chocolate ala Orange Whipped Creme
rated 4 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 11:41:00 AM

One of my (only) faves from TBB. To me it smells exactly like Jaffa Cakes. others have said 'Terry's Chocolate Orange' after smelling on me but I disagree. Fairly strong, nice texture, not that exp and smells most true-to- life in the whipped cream formula. Trust me I have tried and reviewed enough of their other products to know! Can turn a bit sickly after a few hours but by then its time for a shower so hardly a problem for me!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Bakery - All Whipped Creams
rated 2 of 5
athar212000 8/21/2010 11:28:00 AM

Oh I really wish I could have come across a review for ALL TBB products before placing 3 seperate large orders with them. It would have saved me an awful lot of money! But I wanted to be fair and give as many of their products a try as I have a seriously sweet tooth and the descriptions on their website unfortunately won over my common sense... and my wallet! So other than the Whipped Creams (Twinkie Cake, Brownie Delight, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Chocolate a la Orange), I tried the Pure Extract Perfumes (Dutch Chocolate, Sparkling Fruit Punch, Orange Chiffon Cake, Birthday Cake, Banana Nut Bread, Banana Cream Pie, Twinkie Cake, Creamy Frosting, Almond Cookie, Wedding Cake and Baked Vanilla Creme), Sweet Perfume Rolls (Cookie Dough, Choc a la Orange, Orange Chiffon Cake & Twinkie Cake), Soap Cakes (Twinkie Cake, Cake Mix Batter) and Cookie Sheets (Twinkie Cake). Phew! Okay, so the outcome? Only the Choc a la orange whipped cream, Cake Mix Batter Soap and the Sparkling Fruit Punch, Baked Vanilla Creme (only just!!) & Orange Chiffon Cake Perfumes stayed, everything else was binned. Before anyone says 'silly you' I really wanted to have given as many products as I could a try before coming to a fair conclusion. It wouldn't be fair to try a couple, have a bad experience and say 'well those other reviewers were right, they are no good'. So what went wrong? ...Where do I begin? All the Chocolate-type (not Choc-orange though!) & Cookie-type perfume sprays and Whipped Creams had a strong undertone of old, mouldy socks, yes you heard right! In the jar you could detect a little but once applied I was running to wash off. It was disgusting!! Everything else did what other reviewers before me have moaned about and that is morphed into a smell that seriously resembles burnt chemical-plastic/dirt within minutes! I too read those reviews and though 'whatever', but now I understand exactly what they meant. The Almond Cookie perfume spray was the worst culprit for this! The Sweet Rolls all smelt sickly, other than the Cookie Dough which smelt totally devoid of any sweetness at all. The Cookie Sheets in Twinkie Cake smelt nothing like the Whipped Cream version and no matter how much I sprayed on my bed sheets, it would dissapear within 10 minutes max! The soap in Cake Mix Batter smelt yummy but didn't linger on hands at all. Nice to catch whiffs of though whilst still wet in the soap dish and releasing fragrance! Texture of the Whipped Creams was great, they don't bunch-up or sit on your skin like an oil slick, packaging was fine, the Pure Extract perfumes were in sample sizes which would unscrew by themselves very easily and spill out everywhere! I don't know if the full size versions have this problem too. So on to the good: the Choc a la orange whipped cream to me smelt exactly like Jaffa Cakes, others told me the smell reminded them of Terry's Chocolate Orange bar. The Baked Vanilla Creme perfume was very 'eggy' but in a sort-of good way, it was like Bread and butter pudding but with waaaay to much sugar thrown in! Not one for the faint-hearted and a bit too sickly and strong to be honest! I only use this one when nobody else is around! Funnily enough I only ordered the Fruit Punch and Orange Chiffon Cake perfumes due to good reviews on Youtube and they were quite spot-on! Sillage fairly decent, true-to-life fragrances. I could detect cardamom in the Orange C C which gave it a bit of 'spice', may not be to everyone's likings though! Yes I did recieve free samples with my order, no my complaints were not taken seriously although eventually some products were replaced. I was told the mouldy socks smell in some of the products was down to personal preference and that they are best-selling products! How nice! So would I recommend? Unless you are very rich then unfortunately no, you could be sifting through mountains of products to find the few ones that won't transform once on your skin into something gross. I can't speak for everything as my budget couldn't cater to their lip butters, liquid soaps etc too but common sense would say they probably have the same issues in common with what I tried. Would I buy again? No. But this guy's search for HG dessert-type fragrances continues...
