Mascara -E.L.F. - Studio Mineral Infused Mascara
rated 5 of 5

I love this mascara. Like, love love. Not even because of the price, as I'd still buy it if it were 5x more expensive. The first time I put it on I was just testing it on top of my Lash Blast. It was so much blacker than the "very black" LB that I felt a little cheated. It's a lovely inky color akin to MUFE Smoky Lash. Doesn't do a whole lot for volume but loads for lengthening, making this my perfect daytime mascara. Holds a curl well, doesn't flake at all, and yeah, $3? Seriously?

Mascara -Boots - No7 Maximum Volume Mascara in Black
rated 2 of 5
asjdfkl 4/10/2012 12:55:00 AM

So I bought this because I remembered seeing high marks for Boots mascaras. The other ones, I guess. I got home and read the reviews for this one and thought, well maybe I'll like it. That happens sometimes. No. Worst mascara ever. Will be returning, and I never return. It does nothing positive. It's that clumpy wetness that I didn't like about Voluminous, although Voluminous was way better. Because unlike this mascara, Voluminous volumizes. This makes my lashes look dark, glossy and sparse as can be. I'd rather be without it than with it.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 4/28/2011 1:20:00 AM

This is a pretty early review, so I'll change if necessary, but I'm really thinking that this may be my HG. I've been a fan of MUFE F&B for a long time, with two major concerns: it faded out to nothing by the end of the day on my oily skin, and the colors were all too beigey-pink. Enter Vitalumiere, with a comparable light texture, slightly more matte finish that lasts and lasts, and yellow-based shades! Woop! I'm wearing B20 on my NC20 skin. Salesperson wanted to put me in the lightest shade, which I didn't even try. I have the hardest time finding the right shade and I'm pretty convinced that this is it. Happy girl. Except for the damned price.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
rated 4 of 5
asjdfkl 7/31/2010 2:00:00 PM

This has been a HG for years, but not for every situation. This is the foundation where when I wear it, I get complimented every single day on how beautiful my skin is, and when I tell them it's a great foundation, they scoff and say it doesn't look like I'm wearing any. Pros: Effortlessly disguises pores and flakes Gives a perfect dewy finish Cons: Lasting power isn't as great as I'd like (this plus sunglasses equals huge ugly makeup marks) Color range sucks, the whole range is too beigey-pink for me Not my ideal foundation when I have acne/marks like I do now Never quite dries on my face Still, were I not dealing with acne right now, I'd be faithfully using this one again. I've bought it several times over. NC25, been wearing 20 but should probably be wearing 32.

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Mechanical Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 6/9/2010 3:20:00 AM

Looooove! This fits my eye perfectly, gets all my overgrown Latissed lashes in and gives them my ideal gentle curl. I almost took this down to a 4 because the pad on mine split in two almost immediately (in the first week or so), but I scrambled through my boneyard and found that my purple Japonesque replacement pads fit perfectly! This combination is killer - the higher quality pad with the shape of the ELF curler. I kept the review at a 5 just for the $1 price tag, are you kidding me? Heaven.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Extra Smooth Sun Protection Lotion SPF 33 PA++
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 8/19/2009 4:02:00 PM

Ding ding ding, holy grail. I have combination skin that is super-sensitive to sunscreens. I've tried dozens and the only ones that don't make my skin freak out are Olay Complete 15 (too low SPF) and Shiseido sunscreens. I started out with the SPF 55 lotion which I liked a lot but found a little drying. I switched to the SPF 55 cream which was difficult to spread and left a white cast. This is my Goldilocks. It's cheaper than the other two, I can spread it haphazadly directly over closed eyes and not scream bloody murder, it's just moisturizing enough without being sticky or shiny, and doesn't leave a white cast. The only time I would use anything else is if I were going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, say, beach vacay. Then I would switch to the SPF 55 lotion. Otherwise, this is my daily love.

Eyeliner -MAC - Penultimate Eye Liner - Rapidblack
rated 2 of 5
asjdfkl 2/8/2009 2:40:00 PM

I was so excited about this when my SA was showing this to me. I usually use gel liners so I was looking forward to trying a liquid. Color came out smooth and black on my hand. Fast forward to days, literally days after getting this product. I have stored it on its side and have made sure to keep the cap on it, yet I cannot get color out of this thing. Not on my lid, not on my rims, not even on my hand. If I manipulate it sideways I can get some product out of the side, but who wants to bother with that? Extremely disappointed with this stuff. The only good thing I can say is that it didn't irritate my eyes like their mascara does.

Conditioner -Aveda - Madder Root Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 10/3/2008 4:01:00 PM

I'm a medium golden brown and bought this in an effort to mimick the copper tones I get during the summer. This conditioner has done just that. I'm a fickle shopper but I've been through at least 3 bottles of this stuff. I get "Wow, I love your hair color!" all the time, and I don't know how many people I've sent to the Aveda store to pick this stuff up. It's fantastic, and also very conditioning without leaving build-up. Love it.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Veet's Bladeless Razor hair removal kit
rated 1 of 5

What a horrible, horrible product. Took longer than shaving, didn't remove any corse hairs, smelled awful, "razor" tool is useless, and destroyed my fingernails.

Sunscreen -Banana Boat - Sun Wear Faces Daily Sunblock Lotion SPF 30
rated 2 of 5
asjdfkl 6/25/2007 7:36:00 PM

I've been looking for a good photostable ss with decent UVA protection and I think this is the one for me. I can use it in place of my moisturizer, soaks in well, doesn't ball up, and doesn't make me sweat like most chemical ss does. It does make my face very warm, however. It's not an uncomfortable warm but similar to a heating mask. The scent could be a lot more subtle but that's something I'm not going to nitpick at. Edit: Changing my review (late!) because I ended up having an allergic reaction to this stuff. Bumps, redness, not pretty. :( Great for those whose skin can handle it though.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Eye Brightener [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 3/21/2007 1:52:00 PM

I *just* bought this on a whim and I am already so impressed with it that I have to write a review. I've been using MUFE full coverage concealer with a nude shimmery eyeshadow over top to brighten up my undereye circles. Guess what? A tiny dab of this has the SAME EFFECT, and as you can imagine, it's much less product and much more natural looking. I am so pleased! Edit: Saw this going through my old reviews and feel like this needs an update. 2 years later and I'm getting fine lines, this stuff sinks right into 'em. Shame.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Juice Stick - Orange Zest
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 8/11/2006 12:31:00 AM

I love love love a good orange, and this is the perfect balance of color and texture. Glossy but not goopy, pigmented but not overwhelming. My new favorite orange for sure. It smells like I'm covering my lips in a fruit roll-up, but it's tolerable. Will definitely be stocking up on this one.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Color Pulse [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 8/6/2005 10:54:00 PM

Wow! I have light golden brown hair and used the Copper Blast shade. Extremely easy to use. I did it myself, didn't make a mess, and got even results. Smelled fabulous. The color of my new hair is gorgeous! I wish it worked well with my skin, because it's this beautiful coppery red shade. Unfortunately it makes my yellow-toned skin look sickly and jaundiced, but I kinda knew any red shade would. That's not L'Oreal's fault. Bottom line - a gentle hair color that was extremely easy to use and gives gorgeous results. Will definitely be trying out another shade.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Lady Bug
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 1/20/2005 5:08:00 PM

For bright red lips, I need a bit more orange in it, but Lady Bug is *perfect* as a stain. Blotting really made the difference for me with this lipstick. Formula isn't drying, either. Would definitely buy again if I ever run out.

Primer/ Corrector -Jane Iredale - Absence
rated 5 of 5
asjdfkl 1/15/2005 2:37:00 PM

Waited a while to write a review on this one. I hated it at first! I'm used to really buffing my minerals in, and for some reason this gave a really weird texture when I used my Handi brush. So I tried it a bit later with a fluffy powder brush and now I'm in love. It definitely minimizes my pores, and helps keep the shine at bay. I blot probably half as much now. Love this product! I like the way it smells, too.
