Treatments -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
asininityy 11/29/2011 6:24:00 PM
Light, and refreshing. I really like the scent, which is like a fresh cucumber scent. The packaging is nice, the hole from which you squeeze the product out is small, which makes it easy to control the amount dispensed. It is hydrating, but not oily. However, I wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin since it is not that moisturizing. This would be good for people with normal to oily skin. Be careful not to apply too much and wait for your skin to get completely dried after washing your face before applying this, since this is like a gel moisturizer. I find that if I apply too much, the product would ball up and fall off when I rub my skin afterwards, kind of like what you get when you use an eraser to erase pencil marks. I find that a nickel sized amount is enough for my entire face. As for the salicylic acid part, this product does contain 2.0% salicylic acid, but I don't really notice it working all that much, which I still get blackheads.

Masks -Freeman - Facial Peel-Off Mask Cucumber
asininityy 11/29/2011 6:10:00 PM
Very fun to use, but the packaging could be better. The texture is somewhat runny but thick at the same time, not unlike glue. It is clear and smells great, it also dries clear. Alone, I find that it doesn't really remove much of my blackheads, but when used in conjunction with Mario Badescu's silver powder, it pulls the blackheads out wonderfully, kind of like the biore strips. If I were to compare this product with the Biore strips, I much prefer this product, but only if I use it with the silver powder, which helps the Cucumber mask grab onto the black heads. How I use it with the silver powder is that i would first use the silver powder as a mask, but since the silver powder mask is very fine and the pores on my nose are somewhat large, the silver powder tends to get inside my pores, which is hard to remove with just wiping. So i use the silver powder, wipe it off with some cotton pads and toner, then apply the Peel-off cucumber mask to pull out the remaining silver powder that is inside my pores and whatever blackheads the silver powder grabbed hold of. Since this is a mask that you spread on, it is really easy to get to the sides of the nose, where I tend to have trouble reaching when I use the Biore strips. Another reason why i like this more than the Biore strips would be that this leaves no residue, unlike the strips which sometimes leaves a gluey, sticky residue that I then have to wash off. As a mask dries, there is a nice cooling sensation, which is pleasant. I don't really notice much in terms of calming, since my red spots still look the same. This also removed some of the fuzz on my face, which to me is a pro. Peeling the mask doesn't really hurt and is really easy, for me. The packaging could be improved though, since the mask will spill out of the dispensing opening, so I think it would be better if they made the hole smaller. I got mine for around 3.50 at duane reade, the tube has around 6 ounces, so this mask is pretty cheap. Overall, it is worth trying but people with sensitive skin should take caution.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Advanced Hard as Nails Strengthening Topcoat
asininityy 9/9/2011 11:55:00 PM
hate hate hate hate this stuff. while i do like the brush it comes with, this top coat bubbles like crazy. its decently thin during the first use but it gets goopy quickly, so you need a good drop on the brush for it to even spread, but that's when it bubbles. bought this because i couldnt find my beloved Diamond Shield nail laminate from Blue Cross that i can only seem to find at duane reade.

Treatments -Laneige - Laneige Strawberry Soft Peeling Gel
asininityy 8/4/2011 1:49:00 AM
Maybe it's just the tube that I got, but it feels as if the product is too wet. Even when I use it on perfectly dried skin, the product will get clumps but it would be too wet to actually ball up and roll around. Instead, I get wet clumps of cellulose, which is what those clumps are. While the product does smell really yummy and it does leave my skin feeling very soft and smooth afterwards, I don't notice much of an exfoliating effect. Rubbing the wet clumps makes me feel as if I were tugging on my skin, which is a no-no. I will be trying other peeling gels, since I love the concept of one and would much prefer using chemical exfoliants rather than physical ones.

Cleansers -St. Ives - Olive Cleanser
asininityy 8/4/2011 1:29:00 AM
Removes oil without stripping the skin. I suppose it does moisturize because I don't notice any squeakiness of my skin when I rinse the cleanser off, even after the second time of cleansing. The skin does have a nice, refreshed feeling though. The smell is okay, I don't particularly enjoy it. Smells clean, but not fresh clean, kind of hard to describe. I would probably use this as a cleanser in winter, since it is currently summer and I do like a slightly squeaky clean feeling on my skin so I know for sure all the sweat, oil, and other gunk that summer brings is off my skin. I have combination skin that turns oily during the summer months. I wouldn't consider myself to have extremely oily skin though. One thing I absolutely hate about this cleanser is the packaging. I find the spout of the pump way too short. The cleanser would dispense into the very tips of my fingers, with more often than not, some of the cleanser dripping off. Maybe it's just me, but I like dispensing cleanser into the palm of my hand and I find it very hard to do with this pump, especially with my glasses off and my face damp. Overall, this is a good cleanser and I would recommend it to people of all skin types, depending on the season . I think it would work well for people with oily skin during the winter months and people with drier skin during the humid, summer months.

Polishes -Revlon - Minted #85
asininityy 5/1/2011 1:17:00 AM
bought this on a whim at the grocery store. love the color but the formula is pretty bad. takes forever to dry, doesnt spread very well, and bubbles like CRAZY. however i don't really mind the bubbling part that much since a layer of a good clear nail polish will hide the bubble bumps. i'm not sure if its because i put a good top coat on or not but this nail polish has not chipped yet and i have been wearing it for 4 for so days. i will not buy this again but i will be on the lookout for a similar color from a different brand.

Tinted Moisturizer -100 Percent Pure - Fruit Pigmented Tinted Moisturizer
asininityy 4/21/2011 4:29:00 PM
Like the person below me, I bought this because it was on sale on Hautelook for 10 bucks. I have somewhat dark asian colored skin that is very yellow. I got this in peach bisque thinking it will be too light for me because of the picture of the models on the website but it's actually too dark. The color matches my skintone somewhat on initial application but after an hour or so it will oxidize on the skin and turn orangey. Even though it is a tinted moisturizer, i don't find it particularly moisturizing which is not a problem for me since I rarely need to use moisturizer in the first place. Instead, i find that this has a slight mattifying effect on my skin. Since it can be hard to blend in, I like to squeeze about three quarters of a pump onto the back of my hand and then spray 2-3 spritzs of toner on top of it and blend to dilute. The lighter consistency that this gives the moisturizer allows me to blend it into my skin easier and i find that this solves the streaky problem, while sheering out the coverage even more. Even though I dilute the product with toner before applying, it still helps to conceal some of the redness on my face as well as my dark circles. Not completely, but it does help tone everything down, and even my skin tone. I just wish it didn't turn so orange on the skin. So i have to be careful not to apply too much unless I want to turn into an oompa loompa in the middle of the day. I like that it has UVA and UVB protection, and the packaging is awesome. Maybe I will try the white peach next time.

Styling Products -Farouk CHI - Chi Silk Infusion
asininityy 4/7/2011 9:34:00 PM
this helps tame some of the ends i have sticking out of my hair since I have hard thick, wavy asian hair which I have in a layer cut to shave off some of the sheer volume. It may be a bit expensive for such a small bottle but overall it works out to be quite cheap since i have had the 6ounce bottle for a year and a half now and I have only gone through about one sixth of the bottle. A nickel size is all you need. I rub this into my hair when it is still damp. I find that it ends up a bit too greasy if i rub it in when its dry. perhaps the wetness helps distribute the product better. I find that this works very well with my hair straightener and that the heat from the straightener helps it coat each strand of hair much better. it does smell kind of like cheap mens cologne, but i don't notice it once i rub it into my hair. it does not leave my hair smelling any different but the smell does linger on the hands. the packaging makes it very easy to dispense too much at first, but after a while the hole clogs a little and the little opening left makes it much easier to control how much i dispense, especially since i like to use two dime sized amounts seperately, since i feel that if i dispense too much on my hands at once it would make it harder to distribute the product in my hair evenly.

Lip Treatments -Kiss My Face - Organic Lip Balm - Treat Mint
asininityy 4/7/2011 9:22:00 PM
I usually like Kiss My Face products but this was terrible. I found the texture to be overly oily feeling and it did not leave my lips soft and moisturized. It has a faint mint smell. The packaging was awkward since you twist at the top of the tube rather than the bottom so I would often accidentally twist the tube as I am trying to uncap it. Maybe its just the tube that I got but I found that I once I twisted the product up, I couldnt twist it back down. This sat in my drawer for a couple months until I found it the other day. I decided it give it a second try but it ended up a sticky, gooey soft texture. In the trash it went. Not worth the three or so dollars I had paid for it.

Skincare - Face -Sephora - Face Complexion Brush
asininityy 4/7/2011 9:07:00 PM
While it feels very soft on the hands it can be a bit too abrasive on the face. I can not use this on my cheeks as I find it too harsh, but I do use it on my T-zone with as little pressure as I can. The shape makes it quite awkward to use around the nose area and I find myself having to breath through my mouth as I am brushing my nose since it is awkward and makes the cleanser foam up right over the nostrils. I also found the handle quite awkward to use and would have preferred to grip the brush at the back rather than having a handle. I also felt that the brushes are too long, which makes the brush hard to control. the long bristles give too much of a discrepancy between the base of the brush and the ends of the bristles, so while i am moving the brush in large circular motions, the ends of the bristles that are making contact with my skin is not following my hand motion very well. I ended up using this for my neck and decolletage area and much prefer my little silicon face scrubber/brush, which Sephora sells their version of for five dollars. I got mine off ebay for a dollar.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Naturally nourishing milk & honey body lotion
asininityy 4/7/2011 8:55:00 PM
The lotion itself is decent, not too heavy but not too light. My one and major complaint that keeps me away from this lotion is that it is heavily scented, which I had not expected since this is supposed to be a natural product. It smells nothing like milk or honey, but a rather off putting heavy artificial scent that vaguely resembles bad artificial coconut. Don't get me wrong, I love coconut scents, just not this kind. I had to wash the lotion off within 10 minutes of putting it on as the scent was starting to give me a headache. It also clung to the sleeve of my shirt [i had put the lotion on my forearm] where the scent lingered until it was time to do the laundry.

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Sensitive Skin
asininityy 4/7/2011 8:34:00 PM
First of all, I would like to start by saying that this product is heavily perfumed. I can smell it through the packaging on my bathroom counter whenever I use the sink. It's not a particularly heavy scent so I don't mind it too much. The granules are quite small and does not aggravate my skin. I would say that they are around the size of sand granules. It comes out of the tube quite creamy looking so I was very surprised to find that it foams very well. With that said, it does take a little longer to rinse off than my other cleansers/scrubs. It does not leave my skin feeling dry but it does not leave my skin with that fresh clean feeling either. I would recommend this scrub if you are looking for an inexpensive but decent scrub.

Lotions/ Creams -Kiss My Face - Obsessively Organic C's The Day Ester-C Body Lotion
asininityy 11/15/2010 9:15:00 PM
bought this after trying the sample sizes for the kiss my face c's the day moisturizer and the tighten up moisturizer. chose this because it smelled more mild and sweet compared to the zesty and sharp smelling tighten up moisturizer. i like that it doesn't feel greasy at all, which is one thing i hate about putting lotions on my hands. i hate that slimey feeling i get when i go wash my hands after putting on other lotions, like the bath and body works ones. i don't get that feeling with this lotion. i also like that i don't get an oily sheen on my skin after putting this on, no matter how much i use. the texture is thick, but it is a light moisturizer. i use this on my face and body and it doesn't break me out even though i have very acne prone skin. while i don't really like the design of the bottle, i do like that the pump's dispensing opening (not sure what it call it) is narrower than the other pumps that i'm used to. i like the narrower opening because it allows for better control on how much i pump out, since i am not someone that needs to use alot of moisturizer. it does take a bit longer than other moisturizers to rub and absorb into the skin, but once it does, you are left with silky lightly moisturized skin

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Drama Clean refreshing shampoo
asininityy 11/15/2010 8:58:00 PM
this smells amazing like all the other shampoos from herbal essences. i have normal hair with a scalp that can get flakey easily so i do find this too drying, which is okay since i bought this meaning to use it as a clarifying shampoo. I would definitely not use this regularly. when i use this, i have to put in twice the amount of chi silk infusion that i regularly would use to make my hair as shiney and soft as it usually is with my head and shoulders classic clean shampoo. it leaves my hair literally squeaky clean which i guess is what makes it so drying. it did dry out my scalp, making it extra flakey.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Booth's Deep Cleansing Volcanic Mud Mask
asininityy 11/15/2010 8:48:00 PM
the smell, while not bad, is too strong. that is the only con about this product. the smell. it comes out as a dark gray paste and dries to a light gray. of all the clay masks that i've used, this one draws out the most oil, its amazing. when it dries, it doesn't feel tight unlike other clay masks and i can move my face without worrying about the mask crumbling off. the mask dries pretty quickly but the trick is to leave it on when its dry. it doesn't really start drawing the oils out until it dries. a little goes a long way. i have tried using it as an overnight spot treatment, and it does work. the only reason i wouldn't repurchase this is because i didn't find myself reaching for it, and i ended up giving it away to a friend
