Cleansers -Nuxe - REVE DE MIEL Face Gentle Cleansing Gel
asianista 2/12/2011 2:57:00 AM
My HG cleanser, after trying many!!! I just love anything Nuxe, and I'm sticking to this line of product because they are natural and they WORK!!! I tried some Burt's Bees products that are also natural but didn't do the trick for me. So, the Nuxe Cleanser smells really good, has a nice texture, I don't mind the fact it doesn't foam. Dispenser works just nice, no need to undo a cap. I use it morning and night, and I do wear light makeup (foundation, mascara, blush,) it takes it all off without problems. It doesn't dry my skin, nor does it feel oily or greasy. It doesn't stain my eyes and it doesn't make my face red like so many other cleansers. I repurchased already, a bottle lasts a long time. Try the 3 Roses Toner after washing, it's heavenly!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Adrien Arpel

Swiss Formula # 12 Day Creme with Edelweiss Got this for a steal online. Was always curious to try this line of products as it gets so many mixed reviews and allegedly never lists ingredients!!! [Ingredients are all listed on the box, does contain parabens, different plant extracts, glycerin, etc.] Packaging, well, just plain plastic jar but no danger of it breaking and it is ligthweight, so it's ok. Smell: just comforting nice smell, vanishes in minutes after application. Texture: regular cream texture, goes on smooth, very nourishing for my skin, not too oily, so far no strange reaction, just nice moisturized skin. I even tried it around my eyes and all was fine. Overall satisfying purchase. I'll test it further and edit this critic if I change my opinion. I'd say for the price, this is very good!

Lips -Clarins - Lip Colour Tint
asianista 1/5/2010 4:49:00 AM
I got this for a really good price online, so couldn't resist!!! Love the pretty deep red tube, very classy! Smells heavenly, always looking forward to reapply!!! Don't put on too much if you're going for a 'tint' look. It has some glitters in it which is cute. I got color 1 - Strawberry, flattering, slightly red tone, looks 'healthy' and finally a kind of red that I like (my lips are a bit big so I try not to draw too much attention.) It's not very glossy nor sticky, so for the sisters with long hair, this is fantastic (I hate when my hair sticks to my lips!!!!!) Overall very nice product, would repurchase on sale and/or try other shades.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Night Infusion
asianista 1/4/2010 8:55:00 AM
I LOVE this night cream. It's one of the very very few products I purchased again, although the price is indecent (specially here in Korea.) My skin is really sensitive and this cream really calms it down big time. It goes on smooth, smells fantastic (but the fragrance is not irritating at all,) not too greasy yet moisturizing. And I wake up with a nice rested complexion. I use it during winter here, as it's cold and dry and the indoor heating is drying. The packaging is a bit too 'minimal' for a product of this price range: a simple plastic tube (containing only *gasp* 30 ml), but again it's really convenient to tote around and can't be broken!!! (Love the Chanel jars but they are so not convenient!)

BB Cream -Skinfood - Aloe Sun BB Cream SPF 20 PA+
asianista 1/4/2010 8:50:00 AM
Love this BB Cream, in shade 2. Shade 1 is too pale for my complexion. It looks pale the first minute or so after application, but it adapts to your skin tone quite fast and doesn't cover too much, just enough. A little bit goes a long way, don't use too much. I put a pea size amount on my hand, rub my hands and spread it evenly on my face. Putting small dots here and there doesn't do it for me! It gives a nice glow to my skin, albeit a 'tad' pink, but with a thin veil of powder, it looks great. Wears well in Seoul's hot sticky summer, and does a good job at keeping skin nice and moist in the winter (how can it do both, it's a mystery.) I tried many other BBcreams but this is the one I'll repurchase for sure. It seems to calm my skin and doesn't smell at all, so no watery/burning eyes.

Pressed Powders -MISSHA - Finish Pressed Powder
asianista 1/4/2010 8:38:00 AM
I love Missha skin products, their two way cake foundation is one of my favorites and I keep buying it. This powder is also excellent for touch ups or for a more natural flawless look. Looks great on pictures too. Does all the good stuff a powder is supposed to do, for a fraction of the price of big brand names. I honestly have to say it gives Chanel pressed powder a serious competition (I did contemplate refilling the Chanel container with this Missha powder, for face consideration (see my foundation review for explanation!!)) Love it!!!!!!! Glad to know from other reviewers there are tons of shades available in the US. Here in Korea it used to be 2 shades: really pale and a bit darker! Now they came up with an intermediate shade that really is in between these 2 older shades!

Foundations -MISSHA - Skin Powder Foundation
asianista 1/4/2010 8:31:00 AM
This powder foundation is my lil secret as it never leaves home and I wouldn't be caught dead using this in public (have to put this in local context: face is everything here and no self-respecting woman will whip out any local brand compact in public, only Chanel, Bobbi Brown or the likes being 'acceptable'!!! ) The official name of the product is: M Prism Two Way Cake. But this Missha stuff, for the price (it's around 8-9-10 USD here, depending on exchange rate), it's GREAT!!!!! It goes on smooth, blends in well, doesn't age me, no perfume, no allergies, it's the 4th compact I buy.... They changed their formula and packaging last fall but it's still really good. Also, and most importantly, it doesn't clump or make lighter spots if I sweat during the day, as so many other local brands do. Summers are hot and sticky here and that's very important! Give this a try if you have a light to medium complexion. Highly recommended!!!

Powder -Laneige - Sliding Pact EX Snow Crystal
asianista 1/4/2010 8:21:00 AM
I live in Korea and this product was all the rage last year. I had to try it. I tried a bit on my cheek in the store and then bought the compact (how can you resist this sliding compact, it's so perfect!) and headed home, where I 'really' tried it... Well, mmm, how to put it: I looked like a geisha ready to go out for the evening. Although the pigments in the powder foundation fit my skin tone (even a bit too dark, I bought color 5, darkest here), the pearly white undertone is really too bright for me. It was shiny and glowing. It really aged me also. A friend of mine also tried to see how it would react on her skin (also caucasian, we both have similar complexions) and she got the same 'geisha' veil. I gave it to a friend who is Asian with a pale skintone and she's raving about it!!! So I'd say, if you're not really really fair, skip this one!!!

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Rich Color Gloss in Pink Buff
asianista 1/4/2010 8:13:00 AM
I got this as a gift a while ago and thought it was sample size... Ahem... I was surprised when I saw the price and that it was actually the 'real' size of the product! Color is flattering and nice, smells great (love vanilla smell), so small you can carry it anywhere. Not too sticky, yet shiny. I would not purchase this given the price/quantity and also packaging that doesn't look anything special (I mean, for that price, when I whip a gloss/lipstick out of my bag in a public bathroom, I want some face [Chanel delivers in that matter]!!!!)

Treatments (Eye) -La Roche Posay - Redermic for Eyes
asianista 1/4/2010 8:02:00 AM
At first this was OK, but my eyes are really sensitive and it did get to them after a few days. This stuff is really potent! I bought this in Taiwan, where in general pharmacists/salespeople always try to sell you stuff for women in their 70s (although I'm 30something....) saying it will 'stop aging' and it's overkill! When I asked a Canadian pharmacist, she was surprised someone recommended that cream to me and suggested I go with Active-C. Anyhow, Redermic is too strong and the Vit C it contains does give a yellow hue to my pillow case (it does wash off but still not fun nor pretty.) I think I should give it to my mom!!!

Lip Treatments -La Roche Posay - ceralip
asianista 1/4/2010 7:52:00 AM
I bought that in Canada last winter out of despair but honestly, I don't think it does a much better job than any kind of cream/lip balm. Considering the price, I won't repurchase and I'm still not halfway through the tube!

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose

Love these!!! Specially in the summer, so useful and less drastic than pinching out blackheads. Steaming or at least washing your face with very warm water is the key to making this work.

Treatments -Clarins - Beauty Flash Balm
asianista 1/3/2010 4:37:00 AM
This is a HG in its own category. I can't really describe what it does to my skin better than: 'looks like I'm back from the gym or had a really good night's sleep.' Smells great, goes on smooth, makes you look great before a special occasion! It's the kind of wonder potion that I like having in my skincare basket 'just in case!'

Love this product!!! Works great for straight hair and smells good. Gets rid of restaurant or smoke smells. I now switched to hair oil, but I'd see myself repurchasing this product too.

Styling Products -TiGi - Curls Rock Curl Booster

This is a great mousse and does what it says. Loved it when I had curly hair. Now I got a straight perm and only use hair oil but if I ever go curly again, I'll rebuy this mousse for sure. Smells good too.
